Discovered a hair line crack today on my White AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717. Took it to a corporate store and the manager told me there isn't anything he can do about it, because it isn't a known, reported issue. Well I am here to be the first. Hopefully this doesn't become a common issue and there is some sort of recourse. Meanwhile I will be posting to let others be aware of this possible defect.

Where is that. A crack is a crack regardless of reports.
If you are within 3O days the store should swap it. After 30 days you need to call warranty...800-801-1101 i think

White one too? If so, that is interesting. Wonder what makes them more brittle...or maybe they just show the cracks more?
why dont you just examine the phone in store before you purchase??
No cracks here. Did you sit on it?
Also, do you really need 2 threads for this?
It isnt always there.
The evo had an issue like this...where after a few weeks of use it would crack near the power button.

Yup. My white 3GS. Some where in India now though. Good riddance. But I do recall something happening with the Nexus One where it would crack near the power button sometimes.
That sucks. But i do recall white iphone 3-3gs having this issue. I hope this doesnt happen to my note.

A crack, of any kind, is considered to be physical damage, and is therefore not a warranty exchangeable issue. Can only be replaced via insurance claim. If by some miracle, you get a store rep to replace it, then kudos to you!

Unless it's a seam split caused by faulty manufactures' materials.. Samsung saw the picture and told me to take it back to place of purchase for a replacement. ** We already know how far that's gonna get me..

The problem with the "Gray Scale" wasn't discovered to be a problem until recently, which this phone has. Also it has reset TWLauncher 4 times, when enabling Wifi via the notification bar, I just chalked it up as crappy programming..

Sometimes these things show up later, that is why they are called "manufactures' defects" and have warranty to cover replacements or repairs.

Sitting on it would have cracked the glass, the chrome or something else no?
Anyways, no haven't sat on it. I carry my phone in my left front pocket, if that might be an issue. I've always carried them there, never happened to any of my black phones..
My bad about the double post, forgot I had posted that question before going to the AT&T store from my phone via Tapatalk..
If a mod would be so kind as to merge the threads, I'd appreciate it, and sorry
I remember the white DS Lite got cracks in the hinge and like people said before the white 3GS and maybe the 3G had some problems with cracks and yellowing. The Note doesn't have a problem since more people would have reported it by now, you probably just got a bit of bad luck.

It's possible. If while flexing the plastic was the weakest part, then sure, it could crack first.
One big thing I have a hard time reading about in this thread, is the focus on just the white models. Ever think that you never saw any micro cracking on a black device be cause the crack itself was black? If it didn't stand out like it would on a white device, you wouldn't even know to look for it.

This is true, although what happens eventually with these cracks is air, moisture, dust, sand, debris gets into the split and eventually into the screen which would be visible regardless of the color of the phone's casing. I guess black material is more flexible.
Another bigger problem is that split may eventually become bigger and worse yet is get caught on something and snap off. I have seen the issue with cracks near the power and volume rockers, from the normal pressure of the user pressing the area which is open and more delicate after long term use... Eventually splitting at two ends and part of the bezel falling off. ** They claim this is physical damage, which in part is true, but only because the quality of the materials was questionable in the first place.
Again, personally I'm not too bothered. But the Samsung Warranty rep mentioned exactly that (above) and if that were to eventually happen, it would not be covered under the warranty and then be considered physical damage.
I then reminded her what a 00mred00 reminded me of..
00mred00 said:

And she reluctantly agreed.
It's like saying Toyota doesn't have to compensate a user for having faulty breaking system or electrical problems with acceleration on their cars. Because the user crashed and totaled the car, dismissing the user, claiming physical damage.. ofc some people will just take that, others won't and if enough don't accept that as the answer, then the manufacturer will have to address the problem, but only until then.. If they can get away with it..
Honestly I hope this is an isolated problem, only affecting a very few owners. And I just happen to get one of the affected units. Because truthfully I absolutely love the phone and if I were to get a replacement, I would want another white one with the hopes of it not happening again, at least to me
Hope you find a solution. BTW White Note ROCKS!
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
** RESOLVED (sort of, but I couldn't close) details within...
I have to write this to let people know there is a solution and to give credit where credit is due.
So after going to DSC, they couldn't help me because they don't have the Note to exchange. They recommended I go back to the store.
I went to a store about a block away, explained. They told me I would have to go back to the original store and speak directly to the manager, not to waste time with rep. Explain the situation and have her do an exception and do the replacement.
Instead, I went to one last AT&T store, one that happens to be in a more posh neighborhood. Went directly to a manager (Rick, Coral Cables FL Store). Explained everything, told him what DSC, the other store, AT&T warranty support and Samsung Warranty Support all told me to do. He looked at the phone, looked at a display phone. Went to a rep (Yavon, Coral Gables FL Store) and told him to get me a new replacement.
Trouble started for me, when they tried to look up the account, purchase, via the IMEI on their system. It didn't show up. Happen to be another Manager in a suit and tie was there and helped the rep. Issue here is that it was pre-ordered via online Feb. 15th for the Feb. 17th delivery. Fine they found that.
Here's the next problem, the phone was no longer registered on their system because the original phone number was ported out to another carrier. So they had no active account to complete the swap/replacement..
Brand new replacement box was right in front of me within my grasp and almost in my hands. Alas I could not close the deal because of the technicality. But it goes to prove that it can be done, calmly.. Just have to find the right person. Someone mentioned once, you need to find the person that is there to help you get the issue resolved and doesn't take the exchange/replacement personally.
Again, I posted this because I know there are people that have this issue, and I know there will be others that will eventually suffer through this. For you and them to know that there is/are several solutions to a legitimate problem.
When I left the store, I told the manager and rep that I was thankful for them having taken the time to actually try to resolve my problem and really tried hard to look into the issue and find a solution. I understand I personally hit a stump as far as how much AT&T can do for "me". I let them know that in other stores they were not so willing and just brushed me off instantly dismissing me. And further putting blame on me having caused the damage, by pure speculation and assumption on their part that it must have been that I dropped it or somehow caused it by some sort of physical damage. They apologized.
My next step is Samsung Warranty Repair.

If you are viewing this thread, hopefully you haven't bought the Evo 3d just yet or are still within your 30 days. I just wanted to share my experiences with the Evo 3D to help others avoid the headaches I have had with a few visual defects on some Evo 3d's and also an operational defect. I would recommend inspecting the phone for these things before you leave or before you'll be outside your 30 days and offered a refurb. I made the mistake of not looking things over at the store, and it took me 2 replacements to finally get a phone that didn't have these defects.
Please Note: I'm a very picky person, so I always check my new phones for defects and eye sores before I get to the point where I am unable to resolve the issue within 30 days. Some of the things that I have an issue with may not be a big deal for others. Many people are happy with their phone even with a minor defect, but I feel if it's brand new it should be the same quality as a brand new phone.
If your opinion differs on what matters and what doesn't, don't bother trying to debate. The purpose for this post is to help others spot minor defects that may be an eye sore for them personally.
Pin Hole Size White Dot near Capacitive Buttons
-While this may not be a big deal to some, I found it a rather annoying eye sore while using your phone in a dark room or when your bottom buttons are lit up.
-This shouldn't be too hard to spot, just make sure that your buttons are lit up. Usually you will have to cover the sensor along the top of the phone if you are not in a dark room to get the buttons to light up. See picture below for example.

Dead Pixel's on Screen
-Once again just a minor defect that is common on LCD screens, but if you are watching a movie it can become rather noticeable.
-The easiest way I found to check for this is to install "Dead Pixel Test" from the market. This app will go through several solid color screens which will help you spot a dead pixel if there are any.
Power/Sleep Button Activates with a Minor Touch
-Could be a possible issue if the phone is in your pocked and button is activated, your phone may turn off and you wouldn't even know it.
-The button should have somewhat of a click to it when your press it. Try gently putting your finger on the button without much pressure, and see if the screen turns on/off.
Dust Particles Under Screen or Glass Covering Camera's
-May cause pictures to appear fuzzy if you have dust under the glass, and well the screen that's self explanatory.
-Could be difficult to spot, just look from multiple angles to spot any dust.
Red Trim That Surrounds Camera Glass is Lose [Reported by: mayfield103]
-Only have seen this mentioned a few times, but could be a big eyesore if it comes out. I would guess that this issue stems from the rear cover on the phone not being taken off carefully but check anyways.
3D/2D Toggle Button is Wobbly or Lose (Fairly Common Issue) [Reported by:dirkyd3rk and a few others]
-This is more so just annoying when the phone vibrates so does the button itself. Could be a problem in the future though if the button actually pops off from being slid back and forth a number of times.
-Easiest way to check for this would be to just slide the toggle, if it has give before fully locking into 3D or 2D then the button is probably faulty. You may get weird looks for this but if you shake the phone you can also hear it as well.
Screen is Slightly Tilted to Either Side [Reported by: DeMiNeO]
-"It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it".
The Infamous "Light Bleed" Along Bottom and Slightly Up Sides of the Screen
-This has been reported and debated by quite a few people. Some say its light bleed, while others say the Capacitive buttons are just too bright. This just appears as a slight glow between the side of the screen and the frame of the phone along the bottom. Those who had the OG Evo know exactly what this looks like.
-If you have access to a decently dark room this shouldn't be hard to spot, wake the screen and look along the bottom edge of the screen.
Picture borrowed from: itsallsubliminal
-"You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue".
These issues seem to be isolated, so don't let this sway you from buying the phone. I am very satisfied with my phone I just wanted to provide a thread for such issues.
Hopefully this will help some people out and prevent multiple trips to the Sprint store for a replacement. As I said before, some may not care about these issues but if you notice the little things I would recommend checking for these defects. If I missed something else just post the issue and I will edit the OP.

No problem, most of these have been posted already in different places but just figured one thread would be a little easier to find instead of doing all the digging.
Only thing I noticed on mine is that dot u pointed out its a cosmetic thing not a defect more like a ant tit of a spot can't see it unless u rape your phone with your eyeball other that my phone zero issues no problem with pixles or leakinglight which people claim they have its not leaking just bright ass buttons .
2d3d button wobble slightly no issue no yellow tint either . I'm not picky unless you get white spots like the EVO had 2 months into the brandnew phone that sucks .

Awesome! Thanks for posting. Also another thing I have noticed is a minuscule but noticeable small silver chip off the paint on the rim surrounding one of the dual lenses at the back. A couple of phones had it, MAKE SURE YOU verify that yours doesn't have it.

Yea, i got that man. Boy was i mad when i got home because i changed out the original 3D i was going to get because the top of the screen had a bump and the battery cover had some kind of stuff stuck on it. Check to make sure your screen isn't tilted either.
I've seen where some people's screens (And the Sprint Demo evo3d) had the screen tilted to the right a TINY TINY bit. It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it. You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue.

I hear you there, My OG EVO had the white splotch of doom too. It appeared in the lower center of the screen. I didnt know it was a well known defect until 8 months later, or that you could switch it out under the mfg warranty. So this is a good thread to have.
The kind guys at my radioshack swapped my evo 3d that had dirt under the screen in a few places. they didnt even look at me weird. They seemed to understand that I didnt want to look at that for at least one (possibly 2 years).
I Have light bleed when my captive buttons are not lit but my back light is on... my search button still glows from the leak... bothers me late at night when i am in my bed... "researching"

Cool story bro. I heard Samsung is coming out with a new phone for Sprint, you should try it out.
On my third. The first was for light leakage and a yellow tint. The second had leakage as well, so I figured I would live with it, but that one had a power button that wasn't responsive without pushing it down really hard.
This one has light leakage but everything else is fine. I'll live with it.

Your so much better than everyone else. You probably are the only legit person here. I paid full price for this phone. My laptop doesn't have a crooked screen and it cost less than this phone. Sorry for expecting my $550 phone to have a straight screen. Plus, FYI, I noticed the crooked screen without ever reading one thing on here about it. In fact, I had no idea anyone else had noticed it until I came here to post about mine and saw the thread! Imagine that! You are wrong about something!
Yeah, imagine that....Well maybe if someone had 6 issues with 6 different phones then maybe that person should look for a different product..If i had to get something replaced that many times I can tell you that product/company would not get my business...If you've replaced a product that many times you're never going to be happy.Save yourself the headache in searching for the perfect phone and just give it up and move on.
<side note> If i paid full price sure i'd be a bit more picky, but 6 times? Does the company even deserve your hard earned money at that point?

Yes, they should. Can't imagine you'd get any flack unless you get a turd of a store. Only returned mine once: for the crooked screen. New one is perfect. Local Sprint store even let me sit down in their repair room and open and check out the brand new one before they even activated it. I confirmed the screen was straight, used the camera and gallery to search for dead pixels and then when I was satisfied, they swapped them and activated the new one. Great service!
P.S. Manager at that store commented that my screen was pretty bad. His was slightly crooked too and he said he was going to swap his out later but we both said the one I exchanged was twice as bad! Drag the notification bar down and the left edge of the notification bar on the bottom was actually underneath the blackout it was so crooked! It's only half to 3/4 of a millimeter but that's easily noticeable and since the digitizer (top glass panel) is straight and the LCD panel underneath is crooked, it can actually throw off the touch response. Straight digitizer + crooked screen = some keys on keyboard (and buttons in some apps) don't align properly and you end up pressing the wrong thing sometimes.

I definitely agree with you on that point. I haven't taken my phone back yet because of the slightly crooked screen, but am thinking about it. It doesn't affect the function of the phone one bit, but it is a bit annoying when I see it. Like I said before it is not always noticeable, but there are certain times it is.
Some people are never satisfied and that's just the way it is.

Edit: You convinced me to try. Going to go now. Thanks for your feedback.
I'm on my fourth e3d ..this is the first time I've ever had to exchange a phone for any reason..first one had a bad 3g radio..2nd had a blown earpiece 3rd wasn't to bad but still had bad reception and the rep actually wanted me to exchange it..all I wanted was to test it..just got this one and so far so good..usually I wouldnt stick with a product that had issues like this but I.just love HTC..I played with my nieces captivate and I couldn't stand the UI..no pinch.to zoom on photos and it just was difficult to navigate..and she's still on 2.1 update 1 ..I thought those phone had froyo already

If your screen is crooked and you noticed it with out the thread in this forum pointing it out to you then maybe your screen is crooked enough to warrant a swap out..My screen actually bricked on 3d content and anytime 3d activated,my phone would restart every time..If this phone I have now had an issue then I'd be done with it..I love the phone, but I think a lot of people here are wanting to love theirs and that's where the picky-ness sets in..I get it but I don't want to look forward to liking a product I buy..I want to like it for being what it is and performing the way it was intended...
Sorry if I came off as being greater than anyone else,I wasn't trying to..I just think I have a higher tolerance for technology than most..

I sent my Transformer Prime for repairs today. I didn't think it would be this difficult to part from it. Here are some photos I took as we got ready to say goodbye:

But seriously, I am hopeful the ASUS can fix the problems with this tablet. I could have just returned it for refund - instead I chose to give ASUS the benefit of the doubt and let them fix it. We will find out in about two weeks how they do.
Cheers.
Really tempted to send it off for repairs myself but the fact I can live with the problems with mine (Weak(ish) Wi-Fi away from router and a creaking screen) makes it hard to make up my mind. I'd rather wait to see if they announce a hardware fix and allow us to send them in for a proper repair considering I've got at least a year to have them repair it. Two weeks without a back up tablet now that I've had a taste is difficult .
So, OP, what is it that ASUS has promised to fix?
i did the same thing..
waiting on it to come home =0

Can you update me when it gets back as to whether it has any damage such as scratches that weren't there when you sent it ? That's another thing I'm worried about . Also whether they fixed anything major.
Yeah man...we would like to know what you sent yours in for. Did you call them up and speak to some illiterate person or were they knowledgeable? And what did they promise to fix.
I have really poor wifi....I have a 3 bedroom house and I have problems in my bedroom and in the toilet (this is where it's needed most) hahaha. And nonexistent GPS signal.

You know several people here have sent theirs in. It's about at least 2 weeks now for them and I haven't heard anything back. I think asus had them killed or something. Maybe even sign a NDA after they fixed it.
Nice thread. Hope it comes back upgraded for ya

Why I sent it to RMA?
1) GPS. Need I say more?
2) White light bleed in top right corner
3) Dead/stuck white pixel near bottom right corner
4) HDMI output plays audio only through left channel of Sony Bravia. Android 4.0 fixed this partially - now seems to play stereo okay however does not pass surround (DD or DTS) thru to audio receiver.
5) Micro HDMI port seems to be getting lose due to the rounded edges.
6) WIFI issues. Strong within 30 or less feet of AP - but drop off after that as well inconsistent from some rooms that fall within 30 feet or less of AP.
How many did they promise to fix?
Some promises, some uncertainty. For GPS they said it will be "fixed" but not sure it will be to my "standards". For Sony TV issue, I got "Maybe software update will fix that". For light bleed and pixel issues, promised to be fixed. They will look into the micro HDMI port and WIFI issues.
What do I expect them to fix?
Everything. Nobody likes to have defects out of the box. They have some obviously hardware issues that may or not be overcome. I may need to become more assertive at some point, but for now I will trust the process (naively).
I expect to have the unit back by February 2nd or at least hear from them.
Yes it sucks letting it go - especially because we got rid of my wife's desktop for this. Down to one PC for a little bit.
subscribed. please do update this as they return.
I am specifically interested in the wifi and gps, but hoping you have all of your issues fixed.
Thanks, keep us posted!
In case this thread gets locked (people around here cannot stand a single negative word being said about the product), please do PM me.
Update:
Props to Canada Post for getting my darling Transformer Prime to RMA department in one business day and unharmed!
My status on the ASUS repair page has changed to "Repairing". The customer service person said 7 days, so the countdown begins.
Here's what the ASUS page looks like:
I'd be interested in hearing from others who have sent their TP to RMA for repairs. How long after delivery before you heard from them? Does anyone have feedback about the North Bay, Ontario facility (i.e, http://www.nortek.on.ca/)?
I spoke with the receptionist at Nortek and inquired if I could speak with the individual repairing my tablet. While she confirmed that it was the repair facility, of course, she directed me to call ASUS instead. It was obvious what she would say - but I had to ask!
More to come...

It would be very interesting to talk to the/a engineer doing the repairs, shame they wouldn't let you.
Hopefully we'll hear from you again once it shows back up.
Ive subscribed to other RMA threads but nothing sofar.
Hmm - interesting. I'll be following, too.
I'm very happy with mine, despite hiccups. I've known for a while bleed is just "one of those things" and unless it is bad, it's almost to be expected to some extent, so I am surprised they can fix that (I've not paid much attention to light bleed issues on other tablets or this one, so that is my own inattention for not knowing). Mine has light bleed in two very obvious spots on the right hand side (landscape), noticeable by everyone who has seen it when my tablet powers up.
I hope yours gets fixed to your liking.

I have a single stuck/dead pixel as well and I was wondering if I should RMA it or return it to frys.com for a replacement (claiming gps or something), but that seems risky seeing how many bad units there are... Did Asus say they'd fix the stuck/dead pixel? I read somewhere that they wouldn't replace the screen unless it had multiple dead pixels and/or anomalies.

I've heard a different version: "If you love something, let it go. If it doesn't come back to you, hunt it down and kill it!"
Sorry man, you didn't let it go, you just sent it on vacation. I let mine go, over a week ago, back to the seller! Should Asus ever manage to make it work like it should, it will come back when I buy another. Otherwise, I'll kill the idea.
Good luck.

Thats why I bought mine at bestbuy.com (14 day return on tablets), Bought 2 and 1 had one dead pixel. Returned the tablet the next day at a local bestbuy, did a OMS order for another one and should be receiving one this week.

ASUS told me that a dead pixel should be sent to RMA.As I said in other posts, they were ambiguous about some complains, but the screen was one that they said would be fixed. Give them a call yourself and see what they say.
Thanks to other posts for keeping the hope alive with me. We'll see what happens.

Thanks! I think I'll wait a week or two then before I call, I'm sure the repair centers are booked full currently.
Day two update:
I checked my repair status and now it's been changed to "Waiting for Material/ Spare parts". I don't know what this means exactly, but I'm sure people want to speculate what the materials might be (e.g., plastic backing... just kidding). See post #9 for the reasons why I sent my TP for repairs.
Here is the screenshot:
I think it's important to remain optimistic about the return process (or for as long as I can). For the time being, I'm pleased with the response time and what appears to be an effort to fix something. We'll see where things go over the coming days. Remember 7 days from receipt at ASUS is January 25th.
Cheers.
It seems I am one of the unlucky ones, who by accident break their phones while having it in the pocket. A week after I bought the Z Ultra, I discovered that the phone was bent, i.e. the corners were a couple of millimeters taller than the middle of the phone, which I decided to remedy by bending it back once in a while. But alas, it is broken now.
After looking at the picture, people are probably going to say, that its caused by bumping into something, but I can pretty much rule that out, as I always have the power button on the phone facing my important pants, which means that the screen is facing my left leg. If I bumped into something, then my important parts would hurt as well.
The big question is: are they going to fix it under warranty, or should I fix it myself?

As you can see, the cracks starts beneath the power button, and moves across to where the speaker is. It looks very much like it couldnt handle the stress any more, on the corners?
You've probably bent the frame too much when having it your pants pocket, and it probably couldn't handle the stress at one point and snapped.
Will it be covered by your warranty? I doubt it. Don't you have some insurance?

Yeah, that sounds plausible.
I do have insurance, but I have to pay a deductible of 140€ / $193, or almost 1/5 of the price of a new Z Ultra.

Yeah, that sucks, but do you have any choice? You can either sell it as it is for a very low amount of cash, you can keep the screen cracked and hate your Ultra, or you can invest €140 into it and also get some money back if you're going to sell it down the road.

This happened to me a week ago. I was texting and I had just put it back in my pocket and it vibrated and I went to text the person back and it was cracked and I couldn't do anything. I called the lady that finally sent me a new phone for free the last time my phone broke. This time she told me that this is a problem with the phone and has been happening to many people and I should get it done for free. I hope she is right because I have sent my phone back but I have not heard from sony yet which is not surprising because I had to email the a bijillion times last time to even get a response about my phone that they couldn't fix due to a operating system problem. This has never happened to me with other phones. Don't get me wrong I love my phone and missed it dearly since i sent it back last monday breaking on sunday. I can not wait to get it back because using an old laggy s2 is not fun. Which I have had for 2 years and never had really bad problems with it. Only lags because the rom I use is horrible and cant flash another rom because my recovery doesn't work like it should. Back on topic. I have had this phone since november and it has broke twice. I will be mad if I have to pay anything since i got this new replacement one in december. I will pay what they want me to though but paying 680$ for a phone that breaks every month is not cool. For 680 I should get a phone that last a lifetime. I am considering selling my baby. But I really don't want to even though it breaks a lot. I love it either way. I will update you if I have to pay anything but for now it is in Texas where I sent my old phone back. Ill keep you update.

Lol mine was in my pocket and the screen shattered. I loved it dont get me wrong but for 680 it better be indestructible.
Recently I found some weird little air bubbles in the corners off my Nexus 9. I don't have any screen protector so that isn't it. It has never repared or replaced before, it's still original.
The air bubbles show up on the left side in both corners and are around 2mm big. In the corners on the right side are also starting to show some bubbles but they are hard to see. I took some pictures, to show you.

Photo URL and Google replaced some parts
Hi,
New update about the weird little bubbles in the edge of my screen.
I send my Nexus back to the shop and one week later I was called that they replaced some parts and that the problem was solved. I didn't know what parts where replaced but definitely the screen, back cover and the volume buttons have been replaced. It looks brand new and maybe it is another Nexus.
Here are some old photos because the old URL is broke .

Let me know of the URL works now ow and of you have more questions, please let me know.

Did you contact HTC directly, or did you contact Google, or did you just send your N9 back to the place you bought it from?
I bought my N9 from Amazon in Dec. 2014, so I'm not sure who to contact, and I'm not even sure I've got a 2 year warranty.

I brought it back to the place where I bought it and got it returned in 8 days.
I have 2 bubbles at top left corner and 1 at top right corner. Can't fix
All you need to fix it is bring to repair. I think it's look like glue or plastic just heat and melt down.
PS: same problem and in my country had no store accept to fix it. I think they don't have screen to replace it
Got it too - a bubble in top right corner slowly growing. Do not have either google or htc representative nearby, what am I supposed to do?
Did anyone get anywhere with this? My Nexus 9 has the same issue.
I contacted Google but as my N9 is over 2yo, they won't help me. All they would do is put me through to HTC.
I spoke with HTC and they kept implying I mistreated it or got it wet (I didn't!) Their only solution was to send it in for inspection. That's going to cost $AUD49.50 if I don't proceed with the repair.
I'm disappointed. With several cases like this, I'd say it's some kind of manufacturing defect.

I have it too. Guess I'm just going to have to live with it. I replaced the screen on my n7 (2013), it was fairly easy (for my first time doing something like that). This one looks a little harder, and more expensive. If it gets too bad I'm going to break down and do it. Not too many good tablets out there right now. This one isn't bad with custom ROM on it. Not great, but not bad.

This is an old thread but my Nexus 9 has started developing bubbles over the last couple of months, and in the last couple of weeks I've gone from one to three in the top RH corner (just above the battery symbol) and another small one a bit over to the left. Has anyone tried any fixes like applying heat/pressure or anything? I've just gotten to the point where I'm relatively happy with its performance and still can't find a worthy replacement, so I'd like to keep it going for as long as possible.
I got mine repaired, it was still under warranty. But is came back after a year or so.... Never tried to fix it again after that.
same here, 2 bubbles growing...
I just ignore it as it didnt effect the display...
Update:
I found out that the bubbles will move from time to time.
Im assuming that there a bubble trap between digitizer and lcd...

There's no solution to fix it other than replacing the LCD panel....
I have a couple of the Nexus 9 tablets and almost all of them have what looks like bubbles around the screen. However these are not bubbles. The optically clear adhesive that the manufacturer used on these tablets shrinks over time. What you're seeing is actually vacuum pockets. There is no air in these "bubbles" at all. Although disturbing, they are just cosmetic and should not affect the operation of the tablet.
