I use the .54 baseband only cuz its compatible with most of the ROMS. But that is personal preference.
The cyanogen mod 6 is froyo amd cyanogen mod 7 is gingerbread.
Tell us here which ROM u want we will will recommend a baseband for u and help u with th process. Let us know.

Baseband information
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527
Hello, i have an xperia x10 bought thru Atnt. At the time , it had the following specs-
firmware 2.1-update1 base 2.165 kernel 2.6.29 built 2.1.a.0.492
I rooted it, and installed Wolfs GW. After installing, i flashed the given kernel+baseband file - 2.3.3 kernel and baseband .71
Now the phone worked, and the new specs it gives are -
version 2.3.3 base 2.1.71 kernel 2.6.29 built 3.0.1.g.0.75
Now should i worry about the baseband being different? although the phone works fine with these new settings, should i flash a 2.165? Please help, i am a noob to this. Thanks.
No, new baseband comes with Gingerbread, so kept it as it is now.
Just want to add my knowledge in android system.
After i'm on .62 build name in my phone and downgrade it to .42 build name because of failed flashing BB 62 and i'm worrying about the 0% battery issue.
is downgrading from .62 to .42 can change the android version like this .62 BN 2.3.4 to .42 BN 2.3.2, or their is a separate update for Build Name and Android Version.
Note: All version indicates here is Stock rom and kernel
sorry for my bad english
.42 and .62 are on 2.3.4 version. Is it what you mean?
Recently I updated my phone to 2.3.6. Then I can't root it using original ways. Does anyone know how to root this 2.3.6 version? Thanks.
Finally, I fixed the root. Just follow this link:
wiki.rootzwiki.com/Motorola_Atrix
can i follow that method, if i am on 2.3.6 that has never been rooted before?
I m new to this flashing stuff i have a atrix 4g with
System version : 4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US
Android version : 2.3.4
Baseband version : N_01.77.37P
Webtop version : WT-1.2.0-110_OLY-6
Build number : TheDarkSide 2.1 By Nottach

I think you can follow that link. Because I have the same condition as yours: not rooted 2.3.6

You need to flash a Fruitcake to get back to stock...
Hi,
This is my first post here, please excuse if i'm not right.
But i'm kinda glad to join that nice community.
Basically, i do own a SE Xperia X10 mini which i'd like to push another ROM into.
Followed the instructions there .
Could install this kernel as soon as I've installed it using flastool (latest version) i go into CWM and could install the JB Mini ROM (also did a full wipe etc before) but after install got a loopboot.
Actually I've recovered the phone using SEUS so i'm on the official stock ROM again.
Here're the info:
Model number : E10I
Firmware : 2.1update1
Baseband : M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel : [email protected] #1
Build : 2.0.A.0.504
Should i Update the baseband so that the 2.6.23.60-nAa matches it ?
Should i unlock the bootloader first before following the instructions on JB Mini Project 4.1 (link above).
Thanks by advance
Nervmind guys got it working after updated baseband using an official SE ROM from a different country then updated to 016 using SEUS.
Thanks for help provided in forums
