I have followed the 2.1 technique. And it was successful. I flashed global generic 2.1 fw. here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
And once you unlock bootloader flash a pre rooted 2.3 rom and with .71 baseband. After that you can flash doomlord kernel.

I can just see X10_1.0_SE_StockRom_MultiTouch rom in my firmware folder. But any 2.1 generic would do. I wonder why you have issues. I had x10i and you are having x10a. So i hope you flashed x10a rom. Next thing have you enabled USB debugging. Sometimes the antivirus creates problems with adb. So try stopping ur antivirus or else use a different pc.

OK Congrats. I dont know whether you have flashed a custom kernel after unlocking. (if u see sony ericsson at booting, it means u haven't, but that dosent mean you have a locked bootloader). Now restore/flash a pre rooted ginger bread rom via xrecovery. Then you can flash any Roms here. There are hell lot of updates coming here in android development section.

Did you flash the .71 baseband after you flashed Gingerbread firmware, otherwise you will get an error stating no sim and no imei no. Dont go for overclocking at this stage. Start from normal versions, let your phone be stable then you can go for overclocking.

I have the same problem. i played with my phone. The phone wasn't locked to a specific operator( i yhink it was unlocked - is a SH Phone). The ideea is that i played with s1tool and everythinh was ok, i flashed the phone, i installed a new room (m&m, but with another kernel, nmot the one recomanded), after that the phone did not boot, i reflashed the phone with diffrent kernels(my mistake) and after that the s1tool told me "NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE". I installed a rom for locked bootloader with doom kernel, but now my phone doesen't see my network anymore -please insert sin card and restart. AAA.. before that i used SEUD and installed the default room - my phone was capable to see the available networks but it keeps told me - please insert sim card and restart. Now i have the MUI rom with doom kernel (both for looked bootloader - the version with the xrecovery installer), and my phone doesn't see the networks anymore.
Could you help me pls!

Guys,
You have some mistakes:
First unlocking bootloader that somewhere harm your device.
Second flashing another kernel instead of recommended one.
Third you don't pay attention enough to installing rom's procedures.
It is important to use the specific kernels that rom maker tells us.
Good luck all..

I used SEUS and put the stock rom ... the phone still not recognize my card, but it can see the available networks. I have one question. If i use SEUS when i install the rom it install the specific kernel or the phone keep the one that i installed?
It installs the specific kernel of stock rom..
Sent from my X10 using xda premium
Ok. Somehow i fixed my problem. That's what i've done:
I used SEUS and i installed the stock rom. Then I installed flashtool (try to do a fresh install of flashtool if you allready have it installed) i installed the busybox and then i used the bootloader unlock from plugins menu. After i unlocked my bootloader the phoen saw my network immediatley. I supose that everyone else that have this problem have the bootloader locked or they tried to unlock the bootloader and didn's succeed.
I hope this will help someone. GoodLuck!
Hello

I am a noob on flashing Sony Ericsson phone

Adnroid Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71

THANKS!
Make a backup using recovery. Then read the thread of the rom you have chosen. Then you will see the bugs/fixes the rom has. Then if your happy, follow the instructions the developer has posted about kernel/bootloader etc.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
thanks sir. i do will read the instruction for the flashing instructions, but there are any chances that my phone will got bricked? or just i need to back up rom first?
and i'm a noob here so i cannot post on the thread
You can run into situations that the phone seems bricked-but it aint. You should also bookmark guides on using flashtool,pc companion to save time if your stuck.
Ive had almost all the errors,it sometimes takes hours to get phone and data back.......
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
data lost is not a problem for me, so what do you recommend first to do aside from back up my phone?
You need to install flashtool and understand how to use it.Then you can see about maybe unlocking bootloader/installing kernel and rom.
Ive not looked at the rom thread you want, but some of them threads have 2000 posts......

i do want to know what is the other compatible or further steps before flashing a custom rom. coz i am afraid messing it up since i already got it with a custom rom and kernel.,
i read some tutorial flashing kernel but i didn't see one for a x10i docomo unit,.
You maybe better wait to see if someone knows about your model of x10i.I think I have seen it listed in pc companion,so there is a difference between that and like my x10i-maybe its software opposed to hardware.
But since its running custom stuff currently-you should be able to put other stuff on.......

I've Google on what is the difference with x10i and x10a, it something to do with the 3g signal, x10i uses different bandwidth because it is released in japan and other country..

thanks to your response, i am afraid to flash because it might not be compatible with the kernel? did you changed your kernel first? what kernel are you using?

Well, Docomo is just the Japanese market version of X10, but I think it is more like an X10a as it doesn't have the 1700 MHz band of the X10i. And you already have Wolfs v4 which is a pretty old ROM, so just head on over to Champs thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516960 and bring your X10 into 2012. Maybe start with v7, and enjoy. There ara also some neat kernels here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564056 . Just look for the one for "Stock"

4: flash a kernel in xrecovery (locked bl) or thru flashtool (unlocked bl)
5: flash rom of choice
Thats the best way to do it if u just got phone (4 & 5 can be swapped round) if u followed order above but turned on phone after 4 yet before 5 u may need to wipe dalvik cache. also dont confuse bl unlock with sim unlock bl unlock will NOT mean u can put any sim card in the device

Hey
Currently have a rooted Xperia Mini Pro on 2.3 Gingerbread but it seems the official ICS 4.0 update won't be coming to my SI number so I have a few questions. I have decided to install a custom ICS ROM on my phone so would like it to be as fast as possible and very stable. So got a few questions for you.
My phone is rooted, do I flash Clockwork Mod onto it and then clear the data etc and flash the new ROM?
How do I unlock the bootloader and can I relock it later? Any easy method? And if I need to do this, do I do it before flashing the recovery?
I have apps installed on my SD Card. I know the ones installed on my phone will be wiped and I can re-install those few but will the large games and apks installed on my SD card be wiped too? Or will they still show up in the menu?
Do I flash the kernel that I'll need the same way as the ROM too?
And finally the most important question: which the quickest ICS ROM for the SK17i?
Thanks a lot in advance
There is 2 ways to unlock the bootloader, one official and one non official. I used the official http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ the other one you have to find on the forum. Both is possible to relock bootloader by flashing a ftf file thru flashtool.
Kernel is flashed thru flashtool and the rom thru cwm thats usually included in the kernel.
Apps on your SD card will not show on the new custom rom as the phone doesnt know that you have them installed so you will have to reinstall (or use titanium backup).
First of all I tried the official ICS on my SK17i and I didn't like it, it's alot slower than the GB with no super feauters that deserve it
I am now using the MiniCMSandwich Lite ROM. IT'S SOOO great and working very will. You can find it in a thread here.
Follow the instruction in the thread.
If u unlocked bootloader u can relock it but if u decided to unlock it follow the testpoint method not the official one because it's better.
Anyway .. Installing the official ICS or th ROM I told u don't need unlocking bootloader so don't unlock it.
If u want to root ur ICS u have to read that before Updating to ICS

Right firstly I decided to attempt to unlock my bootloader. It turns out for some reason I cannot unlock it (says not allowed in the menu). So suddenly a lot of the good ROMS are out of the question.
I have decided on the below ROM as Tayyar states that I don't need an unlocked bootloader. I know how to flash the ROM etc but how would I flash the Kernel? Or would it automatically flash with the ROM? I remember reading somewhere an unlocked bootloader is a MUST to flash the ICS Kernels hence my question
The official update has also not been made available for my phone and I doubt it will be so I will stick to my current version and flash the ROM now
About the apps on the SD Card, how should I go about it then? Should I get Titanium Backup and then do what with it? I have quite a few apps, it would be very annoying to need to re-install all of these.
Thanks a lot
Since your phone is rooted, try editing the region codes/CDA strings in /system/build.prop to a CDA code/SI number that has the ICS update. I did this myself when I reflashed my phone to get root on GB. I connected using Sony Update Service and was able to get stock ICS customized for my country using "CUSTOMIZED PH WORLD I 1254-1952"
What I changed was the CDA strings inside:
ro.product.name
ro.build.fingerprint
ro.semc.version.cust
You do not have to replace the whole value, just the XXXX-XXXX CDA string you already have there.
More info on these XDA threads:
[SOLVED] force update by editing build.prop, Also: [WIP] list of CDA strings!
Here's a list of available WT19 CDA codes for different countries/regions.
Credits go to original posters.
Titanium Backup is always a great app to use. Only caveat is, you might want to manually restore apps instead of doing a batch restore; some of them might not work with the jump from GB to ICS. Also it would cause a lot of trouble if you try to restore Contacts Storage from a GB ROM to an ICS ROM. Just stating my personal experience

Kernels can only be flashed with an unlocked bootloader. Kernels get only flashed via fastboot mode. A cwm flash is not possible at the moment.
You can flash custom roms via cwm. Your bootloader is locked, so you have to look that your choosen rom is compatible with your bootloader.

My friend, ICS for Xperia mini/minipro sucks.. Its was slow compared to GB. I've tried all the tweaks, hack and other bullshits.. now i am back to GB. and i am very happy i did. But if you really want ICS, then Minicms/CM9 is the best choice.
hi.
i have a "lww". im root. my model is wt19a 4.0.4 build 4.1.B.0.431 kernel [email protected] # 1.
can i flash any kernal for my phone? if no, does it have to be compatible by build or model?
First of all to install custom kernel You need to unlock bootloader. Not every phone can be unlocked, cause it depends if Your phone's bootloader unlock status is yes or no. You can check this in service menu (in dialer tap *#*#7378423#*#* [ *#*#SERVICE#*#* ] ) and go to Service Info and Configuration. There should be rooting status.
It's also good to make .FTF files from Your ROM to use them in flashtool BEFORE any modifications. Just in case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075736

my bootloader says yes. now i thought the whole thing witht the bootloader was for rooting. like i mentioned before i am rooted. i have already made a backup of my stock rom if thats what you mean by making my own .ftf file. dude where is the thank you button?
Nope, rooting Your device will give You access to system partition, but it doesn't allow to change kernels.
Backup in .zip is fine, but I suggest to make a .ftf. It will help You to "unbrick" Your phone if something bad happen (cause if it's problem with ROM U have to flash any working ROM anyway, but if U unlock Your bootloader SUS and PC Companion won't work, so the only solution is to flash it using flashtool). Also .ftf will allow You to revert software to stock one, with branding, customization etc. (if U would like to use warranty for any purpose stock ROM and branding are necessary).
So if bootloader unlock status is yes - then U are able to unlock Your bootloader and install any custom kernel. Check this thread, it will help You with everything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148684

i found that thread last night thats why i posted this question.
my boot loader says yes. i also flashed cwm using recoverx.
just to be sure. with my phone software the i mentioned above ^^. using lets say flashtool i can flash any kernal rom combination even if it .587, or for lets say or the wt19i?
thanks again for the help.
No, not every combination will work And flashtool is used to repair phone, not to flash custom ROMs. There are some ROMs working on stock kernel (which U have now) - mainly based on stock .431 or .587 software. U can flash them using recovery (which U have now). To be honest I don't know what are the differences between wt19i and wt19a. But as a experiment (lol) I flashed baseband from SK17a into my SK17i and everything was ok. That's why I told U to create a ftf package, which will allow U to flash stock ROM if something went wrong.
So, for now:
If U would like install any ICS ROM (based on original Sony .431 or .587 compilation - You can try it right away.
If U would like to flash CyanogenMod ROMs (CM7.2 [android 2.x GingerBread], CM9 [android 4.0.x IceCreamSandwich], CM10 [android 4.1 JellyBean], CM10.1 [android 4.2 JellyBean], CM10.2 [android 4.3 JellyBean] ) and other based on it, U will have to unlock bootloader at the first place and then flash kernel suitable for Your device (LWW is coded as coconut) and then flash ROM.

im sorry i asked so much. as your aware im a noob. till now i only rooted/flashed a galaxy 5 (not s5). it was so easy.
i assume im going to use cwm to flash the kernel, am i wrong?
if not a tutorial link will be fine and ive got all the points. and this is one hard phone to customize. but i wanted the 1.ghz processor.
thank you like in a big way man.
CWM is used to backup Your ROM and install custom ROMs. To flash kernel U will have to use fastboot mode, and it has nothing in common with CWM. Check this thread, 2nd post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730874

Just in case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075736

hi again. sorry last question. i installed flashtool. when innstalling the flashtool driver i cant find LWW in the list.
what did this noob do wrong??? lol
If U'r trying to install one of d latest FT just install fastboot and flash drivers (2 last options as far as I remeber) and that's it.
