Updated the fw to the 67 with preroot but got an "Unknown Error" after bootloader run.
After much searching I heard something about USB3 problems and went to another computer with only USB2 ports and updated there (after many hours trying to get the phone into fastboot since the battery was low and it kept looping) - I was successful on first try and the phone is no-longer bricked.
Maybe this can help others with same problem...
I used my USB3 port when I've flashed my phone and I've had no issues at all so far

I can confirm your findings here, I've also used USB3 and it's working fine.

Mayby an old driver then...
Have updated the driver and will try upgrading to .73 later today...
Nope usb3 driver made my phone a brick again...
But the flash looked successful...
But again bootlooping of death...
For reference; the driver is: Renesas USB3.0
Im using an AS-Media USB3 chip here
So its your chip.
Latest drived ?

i suspect you're missing some usb drivers, have you got htc sync installed?
USB Debugging on?

after 3 hours of pulling my hair out using my 2 month old pc and just leasurly put it into my old laptop it downgrades as if i said whats 1+1?

I believe someone else noticed updated drivers for win8 on htcdev website. Haven't tried I wouldn't touch win8 with a ten foot pole unless it was on a tablet

Hello,
I seem to have myself a faulty S2. It charges fine from the wall charger but when i plug in a data cable nothing happens and it isnt recognised by windows and nothing appears on screen. It doesn't even charge from USB unless I turn it off and start it up again with the USB cable already connected. I have tried multiple data cables and operating systems. In linux lsusb lists nothing, even when it's charging after being rebooted. It is a stock ROM and has no warrenty
It is model GT-I9100
Android Version 2.3.5
Baseband I9100NEKI2
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI8-CL616395
build GINGERBREAD.XWKI8
Does anyone know if this is a known fault or if there are any fixes before I open the thing up and try to clean the USB connector, probably breaking the phone in the process....
did you tried to put it in download mode and connect to pc? see if it's recognized. and if goes well flash a freshly stock ROM and see if it works

What crzr, said its most likely to be a software problem I had a friend who had the same problem (but it was working fine at first) he flashed it and everything is OK... Hope you get it working...
Using GT - I9100
I thank those who give helpful comments
Soft problem or broken csc. Flash rom again fixed this.

Thanks folks, I though it would be hardware. Flashing might be hard, its not recognised in download mode either. I can get into recovery. I suppose i could try and install mobile odin and see where that takes me.
OK it happened to me and the problem disappeared by reflashing stock ROM wiping all my data. but of course first I'd made a backup of all

Someone from another forum got problems with Odin.
He got the drivers installed but tbe box doesnt turn yellow.
Anyone know whats wrong and how to solve this?
He really want to root his S2.

Seems drivers are not installed correctly. Uninstall the drivers and reinstall. Also try changing the USB port or confirm by connecting a different phone to same cable and USB port if they are fine.
If the phone is on ICS/JB, use this method to root. Its simple and does not require flashing of kernel

Just to clarify, a usb port is the slot on your pc that you actually plug your usb cable into. Usb drivers are what you downloaded.Try running odin as administrator and use a different usb port on your pc. Odin can be tricky sometimes, give it a couple more tries.
