[Q] Prime and BlueTooth transfer how.. - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Sorry to open a new thread, I cannot really find any help on this, that I can understand at least.
I have several device at home with Android of different versions.
How do I transfer files or pictures, music and so on between them?
Do I have to use an app. which is suitable for all the different version of Androids, or does Android have a "built-in" way to do that.
My devices are paired with it, but I could not find out.
Any help, guide, tutorials idiot-proof?
Thanks

it should be a built in feature. nothing special should be needed. you first have to pair both devices together. make sure devices are discoverable when you do it so they can connect. then on prime search for devices. then you should see your phone up there. select it. then it'll send a pin code message to phone for you to confirm. confirm on the phone then confirm on the prime. now devices should be paired up.
now to test it, take your phone and go to your picture gallery. select one of your photos or videos. then press option to share it. then select BT. then a pop up should appear on phone showing your prime. if not then press scan for BT devices. then select the prime on it. after a second or two, your notifications on the prime will go off. press it and it'll tell you a BT device is trying to send you something. accept it. then it should start transferring the file. you can see the progress bar in notifications area. when it's done it'll let you know.
if any issues or still can't get it to work, just post back.
p.s. glad to hear you got your prime back

...thanks man, it worked like a charm between ATP and Galaxy S Plus mobile..
Thanks aga.n.

no problem. I use it all the time to transfer files from my Motorola Atrix to prime. like pictures and videos. now if we can get this wifi direct in this new update working, we could use that instead and the file transfer and different capabilities would be alot faster and better.

I've been having an issue where the my phone won't connect to the tablet through bt for the main purpose of file transfer. Thank you for explaining how it is done as I was able to pair the devices but it would not "connect" like it would with say... bt headphones or my laptop. With the laptop it sets up a whole profile in the bt settings for file transferring or audio but the the various phones I've tried to connect with I would only get rename or unpair. I thought that "connect" status had to be established for any transferring to be done or to use the bt gps apps.
I tried what you suggested and it worked for transferring pictures in the gallery. Thanks

glad to hear you got it working. it doesn't need to "connect" or say it for pics, video, and file transfers. As long as both devices paired, you should be good. it only needs to connect for BT tethering, head phones, and things like that on prime.

bluetooth not auto pairing

I have managed to pair my phone with my parrot hands free unit in the car. How ever it will not remember the pairing, and each time I step into the car I must manually pair, any ideas?
hmm... from past experiences from SGS1 and SNS
they are bound to automatically re-connect to my car for BT audio streaming, i use it practically everyday
that being said, the experience is the same with past old phones like Treo and Windows phones, although those had some minor annoyances. similar to what you have just described specially the windows phones.
so, it might be possible the SGS2 BT audio profile might not be fully compatible with your car BT receiver.
does it automatically pickup phone calls using the BT headset (handsfree) profile ?
Same here too! Sometimes with my Motorola S7HD or my Sony car stereo x.x
I'd have to go to Settings -> Wireless network -> Bluetooth and manually pair them myself. Ugh.
Any fix for this guys?
I know it sounds silly but after pairing are you accepting the notification to always allow it to pair?

I have this problem with my landrover bluetooth, (I have to pair each time I use the car) However I have never seen a notification to 'always allow it to pair' am I doing something wrong? or is there a setting somewhere that I have missed.
Tom
In my case the problem is not actual pairing. I have a Pioneer bluetooth car stereo. It has been paired but for it to see the S2, the phone must be made visible each time. Despite being paired it still needs to be made visible.
Despite extensive searches, I have never found a way to make it permanently visible. There is a silly timer which turns off visibility after 120 seconds.
Previously, with my old Windows 6 and even Windows 5 phone, I used to just go into my car and go - no fiddling with phones - never even took it out of my pocket. Now I need to make it visible each time and this really bugs me.
Don't tell me it is more secure - that's my choice and should not be Android's choice.

have you tried editing the /system/etc/bluetooth/main.conf file
there is a line
#how long to stay discoverable mode before going back to non-discoverable
#The value is in seconds, (0=stay pairable forever)
DiscoverableTimeout =120
Needless to say try it at your own risk, you will probably need a rooted phone and something like root explorer to edit the file.
Hope this helps
Tom
I too have the same problem. My Philips SHB1400 does not get auto paired. I have manually pair it when ever I want to make a call. Never had this problem with same BT Headset and Nokia 5800

I tried that but I am afraid it doesn't work. I think other people have also tried it in other threads and it does not work either. The timer stays at 120 secs
has anyone tried playing with the blacklist file in the above directory? I tried renaming it and rebooting but it made no difference for me, but my Landrover is not specificaly blacklisted.
Pairing bluetooth with Caddy SRX.... NOT....
I downloaded the Bluetooth File Transfer app and that worked for awhile ... off and on ...... but hasn't worked for two weeks now. I've been to Cadillac - I've been to ATT store - everything is checked correctly that needs to be. This has been ongoing issue for a year now. Any other new updates about this problem ?
Thanks.
I do not get the 'notification to always allow it to pair' on some devices but do on others.
Anyone know why?
I am trying to pair a Uniden cordless phone and keep getting the pin request every time I connect.
While on my car I do get the always allow pair request and everything is fine.

AOKP 4.2.2 - Bluetooth Pairing

Hi all. Has anyone tried to pair with a car?
I'm trying to pair with a Kia Sorento. It's looks like it pairs OK and then shows connected but the car doesn't acknowledge that it is connected.
I'll continue to test but wanted to know if anyone else had success. I'll try with other bluetooth devices as well. Please post your experiences with Bluetooth.
Thanks for the ROM update and thanks for your responses.
Well, I've successfully paired and used several different bluetooth devices. Didn't think I had this many:
- bluetooth mouse
- bluetooth keyboard with built-in trackpad
- OBD II reader
- Music headset
I have a phone headset and my car. It looks like both of these pair but don't connect properly. The headset is for phone profile only. After pairing, clicking on it does nothing. Doesn't even try to pair. For my car, it pairs and I'm able to enter the pass-phrase/key but then it doesn't connect.
It looks like there is an issue connecting to devices that use the phone profile. When looking at the settings for the paired items, there is a profile for phone audio. It has a checkbox which is not checked and is disabled...cannot check it.
I'll post screen captures when I get a chance.
Thank you
It looks like the HFP (hands free protocol) is needed for using a headset on a mobile phone as in the case of a earpiece or to use a car as a hands free for a mobile phone as well.
It looks like Blues does not support HFP. There is mention of an oFono project that works with Blues to support HFP but no mention of Android support. I also found some mention of Blues adding that support. Maybe it's available and needs to be configured. Didn't dig too far into it and I'm not that familiar with these technologies.
Hopefully, one of the devs can follow up on this or another group has done it or figured out how to do it.
I'll keep looking and will post if/when I find anything.
FYI, Bluez just released a new version April 12th.
I found some configuration files in /system/etc/Bluetooth
The audio.conf file has several settings referring to headset and hfp. I tried some variations but no luck. Good news is that it looks like Bluez supports headset and hfp out of the box/built-in.
More testing needed.
I also read that after changing settings you will have to unpair and repair your device to pick up the change.
I wonder what the stock files have?
It looks like, ideally, there are other profiles that should be there to have a good experience. PBAP, phone book access protocol, is needed for transferring contacts, for example.
it fix on next release, but have reboot afte call =(

So my reboot after a call is related to bluetooth headset. Right?
Any ideas about overcoming this?

LOST function/ability to stream media audio via BT to Windows 8 laptop

Hi there
Today I LOST the function/ability to stream media audio via BT to my Windows 8 laptop. Don't know how it really happened, but this was working 100% last Friday, and I would really love to get it back.
I used to be able to connect via BT and stream audio from a video o web music, etc, but somehow I lost this today. I have removed and re-added my S3 to the bluetooth devices many times today and it is still not working. It shows BT successfully connected and I can transfer files both ways, but no longer can I hear anything coming from the S3 via BT.
I have successfully installed the latest working Samsung USB drivers, and still I cannot hear the media via BT.
My best guess is that somehow either the S3 or Windows decided (thru some configuration I haven't found) that my S3 no longer has the function to stream media audio thru BT. My basis for this is that I looked in my S3 BT settings and no longer see a "Use for media audio" checkbox there, but I used to see one. So I paired with a friend's laptop and my S3 BT settings do show this setting for him (also some other input thing I don't care for)
I don't know if this is something I can fix on the S3 or in Windows. Is there some hope for me to get this back?
PS: I think maybe Windows thinks of my S3 now as a BT modem (to share the phone's internet) more than a BT phone (which would include sharing media audio)

When BT is turned on but not connected to your other device the option to tick or un-tick the boxes will not work
I have attached two images, the first with BT on but not connected the second when its connected, if you check yours when you connect to BT and see is the media box is ticked, it should connect automatically but mine un-ticked itself the other day.
If these boxes show as ticked and the device connected then that part is working OK

I am not able to check that box, it doesn't display that option for me.
When I try to click the name of my laptop from the phone to make it connect, it does nothing. Nothing happens. So I also want to check that box and it is not there anymore.
So it seems I'm paired, I can send and receive files, but I cannot "connect" to receive media audio, or connect to even display the option to check it.

[Q] No audio after turning off Bluetooth

After i get out of my car where my bluetooth was connected, i'll turn BT off. However, sometimes the system still trys to push audio through BT, not the speakers of the phone. I know i can get around this by going to my Youtube App, and there's a litle icon at the top that looks like a tv with a wifi signal. i can touch that, and it will ask if i want BT or local (i forget what it really said). i press the local and get it back.
is there an easier way to do this? I have the ME7 build, rooted via the method provided here. I have a Hyundai Sontata, 2011.
Thanks

I got around it with soundabout from the market. Lets you control various outputs during different media modes.

I didn't like that app.
and YT now changed their interface. I can go to google's Play Music App, and they have the icon that i can use to disconnect the Bluetooth.
any other ideas?

Bluetooth pair not working with Windows 8.1

I'm a little lost. Been trying to get this thing working and Nada. I can connect for a short few seconds. Then it disconnects. From all the videos I've seen, drivers install. But not here. It says Galaxy S5. But no driver pop up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Still nothing. I've installed the newest Bluetooth drivers for My Dell PC and still. What's going on? Any ideas
Anyone?

What are you trying to do exactly? Mine connects and works great. It will only connect when it needs to for instance, when sending or receiving a file. It won't stay connected constantly. It's not like a Bluetooth speaker or anything.

once 8.1 hit millions of bluetooth drivers were damaged. its an obvious common problem but some say they have fixed it by installing drivers. i have the latest drivers from dell... for some reason drivers never installed on my pc for the S5. it was just there. it happened so fast. i did pair it without internet at first. but since have uninstalled an attempted to re connect so drivers will reinstall. im on the verge of picking up an external bluetooth dongle to try it out.

Hmm never knew that, I will try it out on my computer and see if it works. I do have an external dongle I can try too.
I do know that the windows drivers for the external dongles never works right so you have to download the newest from broadcom. But I lost mine so I can't try it now with Windows 8.1. Things like headphones wouldn't work without. I'm not sure if its lack of proper drivers for My Bluetooth on my Dell with Windows 8.1. Trying to find someone with an external to try. I use that every day in my car since my head unit is a dell computer.

So I think I figured it out.
It is NOT your computer. It is the phone. Either Samsung or T-Mobile tampered with the bluetooth services it is capable of. Meaning, if you try to use your phone for Bluetooth tethering, you will notice its not an option. This is because inside the /system/lib/hw folder, one of the lib files that controls Bluetooth communications with the hardware is telling other devices that is connected that only Contact Syncing and File Transfer services are available. I would attempt to flash an AOSP ROM, and check if you get any better results. If so, I may be able to hack the lib file to allow us to use more services. I remember I did this on the S4 to allow Bluetooth tethering so I hope its as easy for other services. I just need something to compare so if It works on AOSP I can compare with the lib file from there.
I do need to update the phone. Just so happy I got tethering without T-Mobile s bs telling me how much I can use. Don't wanna mess up lol.
Flashed the xtralite ROM .. Still have issues
I bought a new Bluetooth dongle. Damn 20 dollar dongle. Well it works. Not completely. Its missing the hands free portion.

Which ROM is this on?
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
I'm currently using the ... What is it called. Its the slimmed down ROM. Like 500mb download size and you can install what addons you wish. Before I don't know what I was on. J don't really change roms a lot if its working flawless. The new cheap dongle i just got is working fine. Enough... Lol BT stereo works nice most of the time and will bring up a media player looking window with track info even using things like I heart radio. Hands free works but I don't have an on screen dialer. Have to initiate the call with the phone. Unless I'm missing a program I could use.
