Worried about that non-removable battery?

HD VOICE
HTC also promises that sound quality has been improved -- in fact, the EVO 4G LTE is set to become Sprint's first HD Voice-capable phone...The smartphone uses dual microphones, along with encoders and decoders to capture and transmit your voice from one equipped device to another -- that's right, for now, you and another caller will both need to be using this specific handset, paired with compatible network access points, which Sprint will begin rolling out shortly as part of its "Network Vision."

...The test took place across two audio booths. I had the original Evo and the Evo 4G LTE in my booth and a Sprint rep had both phones in a separate booth. First we talked on the original Evo. Exactly what you’d expect. Then we talked on the Evo 4G LTE and… wow. I was pretty floored at the difference. Much more crisp, much more clear, almost to the point of sounding a bit fake, as if you’re listening to a television broadcast. Then the Sprint rep turned on music. Loud music. Using the Evo 4G LTE I couldn’t really hear anything in the background. Switch back to the original Evo and… wow. Lots of noise. Turns out that Sprint’s HD Voice is much more than just a line in the tech specs. It greatly improved both audio quality and noise cancellation in a very obvious and welcoming way...

HTC Sense 4.0

*WiFi Sync enabled, allowing you to sync with your PC over WiFi after installing music manager and syncing once
**BeatsAudio-> fully Integrated to work across ANY 3rd party app!!
*ImageSense: Completely revamped camera area...auto focus is 0.2sec, shutter time of 0.7sec
*Dual Shutter Camera Module->allows you to record video and take pics at same time

Reserved just in case too much info gets in here...
http://www.youtube.com/v/JpdPU8QatDM
Videos above at the 25sec mark of one you can see what looks like a 3D prototype...likely something they ran across during the design phase as there are many different versions of the device shown in the video......
And with that said Engadget just confirmed my thought "...it's just an early design when HTC and Sprint were considering carrying over the 3D feature, but it didn't make the cut..."
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/05/htc-evo-3d-prototype/
In case you doubt it being an upgrade consider this...:
from EVO4G to EVO3D you got the following:
*jump from single core to dual core (S1 to S3)..
*3D camera and screen
*move to QHD screen resolution
*more RAM
*jump to Sense 3.0
*Adreno 200 to 220 GPU jump
From EVO3D to HTC 4G LTE:
*Jump from S3 45nm Cortex-A9(like) chip to S4 28nm Cortex-A15(like) chip with modem build into die,(battery saving improvement)*
-Dual channel Memory tech bumped from single channel 333MHz to dual channel 500MHz
-slight GPU boost
*SLCD2 720p Screen- think its even 312ppi too(compared the 3D's i think 246ppi, and iPhone4s which has 326ppi)
*jump to Sense 4.0
*ImageSense Tech with dedicated image chip that allows the following:
-0.7sec to take a shot, w/ 0.2-seconds autofocus
-VideoPic stuff taking pictures while recording video or watching one
*bump from the old f/2.4 lens to f/2.0 which allows capturing 40% more light (compared to the f/2.4 on the iPhone 4S, f/2.65 on the Galaxy S II)
*LTE Device
regardless its an upgrade.

The phandroid article also mentioned possibly a "metal" case but I find this highly doubtful as it is almost certain that the device will have NFC and the reason the OneS doesn't have NFC is supposedly b/c of the metal casing it has...

I like the initiative.

nice job Sarge! if the device lives up the hype it's a winner for sure.

I heard the screen tech was going to be AMOLED?
In any case, if all the rumors, mainly expandable memory and the battery capacity turn out to be true, this WILL be my next phone. TBH I don't care about the non-removable battery if it's 2650. Actually, I don't care about removable batteries at all. I haven't once had to remove my battery to replace it with another and it actually makes for a cumbersome task if you use a TPU case like I do, with a nice snug fit. Removing the battery weakens the battery door of the EVO 3D as well as the snug fit of the TPU case. Bring on the unibody design HTC!

Too bad I'm a long way out of getting a new phone. I will be interested to see what the finalized specs are.

Sgt. Slaughter's looking for that MOD position, LOL

Ditto on the whole removable battery thing...I guess extreme power users like the guy that did the CM9 video would be upset...long as there is expandable memory im good to go...
The one thing I am curious about is the LTE bands they will include in the device...If they include the 800 & 2500 bands or least the 2500 I'll be pleased. Otherwise its going to be a tough call. With no premier yearly upgrade and them still tinkering with the current buyback upgrade program there is a big variable to deal with...Knowing that purchasing the phone in June this year that I'd have to wait till Feb '14 before eligible to upgrade again is a tough task to deal with...Really would make me not upgrade then till a full 24months and wait till June to get the Next EVO that year...sneaky Sprint 20months sounds soo much better than 24 yet in reality you'll likely wait till 24 so you dont get old hardware.
Of course they could give my +10yr account yearly upgrades again and all would be good...lol

In the same boat here. Will upgrade in June for this phone and then will be hard to wait another 2 years to upgrade when next year, something bigger and better will come out. May just have to reach a bit deeper in my pockets to get the fix every year.

I'm very tempted by this after having both evos but with the lack of lte in my area.
...i kinda feel like I should stick with this since I do have wimax here...but ill go where my favorite devs go so if myn and steelh and Joel and virus all jump ship ill probably go with them lol

1. With no battery pull. I'm guessing we would have a hard reset for reboot or recovery? If we got in a jam.
2. How much could this cost 600 is my limit.

Thank you Slaughter! We needed this!
I think I will pass on this but use the upgrade for my wife since she loves photography. I was thinking of upgrading her EVO to an iPhone but, nah, this is better!
I've spent a lot of money on accessories for my 3D that I don't want to give it up in 4 months, some of them are transferrable to another phone like bluetooth headphones, extra USB cables and a 32 GB sd. The others are not like Casemate Pop case, the HTC dock and a TPU case.

You could probably easily get the phone for under 600. CDMA phones have a habit of falling under price extremely fast. You could always sell the EVO 3D too for extra cash.

She doesn't buy accessories. In fact the case I bought for EVO, she didn't use until she dropped it and cracked the digitizer. Yeah I was pissed, I traded in my Hero for her Otterbox TPU case that she didn't use. I miss that little bugger, the Hero, wish I kept it since it has camera working on its ICS roms. Needless to say, she uses the case now but thats it for accessories.

Slaughter, not to worry about me jumping HTC's ship, still on it. I'm just really happy with my 3D and I see my wife having problems with her EVO all the time, random reboots and stuff. Using the stock rom and she won't let me flash another rom. It is rooted S-Off though. I'll probably wait for my upgrade to go with the EVO after this upcoming EVO.

Next phone to get?

I have my upgrade in August, but i was wondering what i should think about getting. For those of you that got the thunderbolt, how is it? should i get it?
I was thinking about the Bionic, but the Motorola bootloader situation is a Con for me, and the 0.3 mega pixel front camera. I wouldnt mind Moto blur too much, but i hope its not that laggy.
I dont want the X2 or Droid 3.
BUT, as far as the Targa... That thing is supposed to be amazing, should i get that?Quad core, but will it make a difference? I dont care about 1440p or intense gaming to be honest.
if the thunderbolt really is fast as lightning, ill get that, especially since its already rooted. i know ill be out of date even with the bionic, but the targa is gonna really knock me down.
Opinions? I think this thread could benefit everyone
Also what about that iphone 5?

^ Don't make me angry. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M ANGRY!
LOL. Just kidding.
IMHO, it's too soon (too long until August) to even summarize what phones you might want to consider, or at least it would be for me. But I understand you're probably excited.
But, I would generalize that I would be more likely to hold out for something made by HTC (if nothing currently made was satisfying enough), so that would limit my options, so to speak, quite well, and probably make it a pure choice of between whatever latest and greatest HTC Android phone, and whatever the next unreleased HTC Android phone is on the Verizon network.
The dual core phones do sound interesting; in the PC world, I'm all about multiple core CPUs, RAID hard drives and dual channel memory. The only thing I haven't done myself in the PC world is SLI/Crossfire, as in my opinion that's for people with loads of money to blow.
Sorry for the digression.
+1
My new ever two date is in August as well, but I may wait through the end of my contract in December so that I can renew with a one year contract. At that point, I'll decide on the best of what's available (though I may wait through about this time next year, to see what comes out after CES and MWC.) When I bought the Eris I made the slight mistake of buying a phone with 10 month old technology, and I do not plan on making that mistake again. As much as I enjoy flashing custom ROMs, if the hardware is good enough I think even an encrypted bootloader that prevents that will not stop me from buying a particular phone. I only do this to make the Eris usable, after all.
I'd say that no matter how outdated the Thunderbolt will get, it's still an incredibly nice phone and I don't see what advantages you can get on Android if you go higher than the specs it has. And for what you describe that you want, it seems that the Thunderbolt would be perfect for you, so you should probably go with that. However, I do agree that it's a bit early to think about what phone you want now, you should probably wait until it's a bit closer to your upgrade time to decide
I'm not up till January. But what I'll probably look for is small form factor, battery life, preferably HTC, see what is supported by Cyanogen or has strong xda support and then choose what's cheapest.
Or purchase something old and not lock into a contract.

Thanks for replies everyone yeah guys don't worry I don't plan on getting the iPhone lol. I know it's early but I'm excited honestly i think I'll get the thunderbolt, I don't care if even a dual core htc comes to Verizon , the thunderbolt is amazing and it's lighting fast (can't get better than that) and as far as battery life, when more custom roms become available , that can always be fixed
The thing that bothers me about the design of the TB is the fact that HTC put the charging/data port on the wrong side. So if you have the TB propped on its built in kick stand you can't have it plugged in charging. Another thing is with all these talks of multi core in the breeze (already in the Xoom) I'm so over single core. I spend a good deal of time on my phone geeking and playing around with ish. So obviously I want as much power and speed out of my devices I can get. As far as Android OS goes, I feel that the TB is being sort of degraded because it got released to soon. It should have been held back so it could have been released with 2.3.3 w/Sense UI. It makes it seem like the Eris of the next gen Android phones. IMHO I could easily compare it to my Dinc. Except it doesn't look as good as my Dinc, lol. Guess HTC had to release something to keep people happy. I guess it is good for that.

It was supposed to come out in November, but got pulled for some reason. Some rumors are that it was pulled so Verizon could install 4G on it *cross fingers
Personally, I'm in love with the keyboard, and it's enough to win me over, even if it's not 4G. 800MHz is fast enough, honestly. Too bad it doesn't have a front-facing camera, though...

Wow. I guess I just assumed things; I didn't know it comes with Froyo, and I hadn't bothered researching to find out about that kickstand/charging issue since I'm not even close to upgrading. Thanks for making me aware of these things. That does suck.

I noticed this "upcoming" (or not) phone before, too. I would love a slide-out keyboard on a HTC Android phone. I use Ultra Keyboard (like Swype but better ) but sometimes a real keyboard would be nice. I probably wouldn't upgrade to anything that's not 4G, however, and I would also have to weigh not having a faster and multi-core CPU. But whether they had even higher capability phones with all of those features would probably depend on the success or not of a more introductory phone like the one above.
I'm upgrading in August, so I'm looking for the Verizon version of the Evo 3D ...I don't really care about the 3D feature too much, but it's got a 960x540 screen, dual-core 1.2 GHz proc, and 1 GB of RAM, and it's HTC, so it's mod friendly, as opposed to the Bionic that I was also considering.
Well I just found out that I do have an upgrade ...now! One of my lines has one so I'm taking advantage of that and should hopefully have the tthunder bolt either today and tomorrow

PAH my upgrade isn't up till March of next year. I was kicking around the idea of upgrading early, but at this rate if I wait, I should be the proud owner of a quad core this time next year.

My NE2 is up. I am waiting on the Bionic, Samsung, and LG LTE phones to be released so that I can make a real world comparison of all the available 4G phones before Verizon implement their tiered 4G plans. From the rumors and official notices, couple more LTE enabled phones will be released next month.
The Devs for the Eris are great but even they can not make the screen any bigger and network 10x faster. I do appreciate all of their efforts that they given to our Eris community.
Ended up getting a DROID3...and I love it...can't wait for someone to root it and see what the mod community can do...

Well, there are unlocked bootloaders on the way, I just imagine they're waiting until after ICS to roll them out. They've made the Atrix's unlocked bootloader a definite thing, and they'll also need to stay competitive with HTC...so, I'm not worried, but I'm also an optimist.

Thinking of going NO contract on Cricket...
I have an Eris running GSB 2.8 ROM. It's a good rom, best of the GSB series. It's fast other than webpages are slow to load. I am eligible for upgrade on the 20th of this month and have decided to buy a T-bolt or similar on CL or ebay and flash it to Cricket with their Android unlimited everything plan for $55 a month. Anyone else out there tried this? If so what do you think of Cricket? I am just really kind of tired of Verizons high prices. This will cut my monthly bill in half and if I don't like Cricket, I am not obligated to stay.

Get Evo 3D or wait for new Nexus?

I'm caught between the two the nexus sounds like it has great specs, but supposedly it might only come to Att or Verizon. I'm going on vacation Friday until the last few days of September and my dad is.letting me swtich to sprint and I won't need a phone so it might be leaked but I know if the.nexus.comes out.for sprint it will have nfc(which Google is implementing in a lot pile games, and etc),ice cream sandwich, and etc, but the evo has sense 3.0 which is nice what are your opinions?

No info in the nexus so no good answer can come from this.
Did you get an official statement on the specs? Or just rumor?
Im sure the evo3d will see an ICS asop port, and yea which knows when it will.come out and on.what carrier.
"Nexus Prime" will be a flagship device for Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich . Furthermore, the screen will use Samsung's "Super AMOLED HD" glass and come with a 1.5-GHz, dual-core OMAP4460 chip from Texas Instruments."
So another Sammy?
I say get the 3D.
look guys rumored specs:
Monster sized 720p screen/Super Amoled HD
advanced 5-megapixel sensor delivering class-leading image quality in addition to superior low-light performance
NFC(i'm 16 i dont use credit cards, but google is working on NFC stuff so its good to have)
Ice cream sandwich
Dual-core OMAP(dual-core already on EVO) who knows maybe it could be quad-core
4G LTE
"Our source indicated that Google could be working with multiple carriers and multiple OEMs on their own “exclusive” Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) halo devices, and that they may all launch around the same time. Imagine flagship releases from Motorola, HTC, and LG with Ice Cream Sandwich available on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint all at practically the same time… in addition to a Google Nexus handset from Samsung."

but it wont have 3D,so no Nexus Prime for me
What did HTC do to piss Google off?

I don't think it was that. Samsung produces phones with better hardware. Look at the Epic compared to the Evo and now the GSII compared to the Evo 3D/Sensation. Don't get me wrong. I owned and walked around with both the Evo & Epic daily for months and the Evo won my heart but hardware wise the Samsung phones are better in almost every aspect. They just suck when it comes to supporting their products with timely updates. And the fact that Sense is 10x better than TouchWiz imo but with a "Google" phone updates will come almost immediately. Better hardware + quick updates = Google Flagship. Not to mention regardless of their rep around here, Samsung sells a lot phones! They sold over 10 million GS phones last year.

thats true, the SG2 is rated the best smartphone by many websites, and etc. the nexus prime in my opinion should be all manafacturers coming together for one great phone;
Samsung- SUPER AMOLED HD/720p display, dual-core 1,4ghz exynos processor(its getting bumped up from 1.2 to 1.4 each core i'd prefer quad-core), 32gb internal, 4g(HSPA+,LTE,and Wimax)
HTC-design, materials, led notification
Sony-Exmor camera with all features, and more
Motorola-personally i would want the fingerprint scanner
Hardware/software i would like;
*quad-core/Dual core 1.2 or 1.5 Chip
*1GB RAM
*Battery that can last a full day
*8MP camera
*Notification Light/LED
*LOUD speaker phone
*4.5" Screen SUPER AMOLED HD
*Front Camera, 1.3MP
*AT&T LTE/VERIZON LTE/SPRINT WIMAX/T-MOBILE HSPA+
*Camera Button with instant capture
*Ice Cream Sandwich
*NFC
*32 GB user accessible memory internal with micro sd expansion
*Gyro, ambient light sensor, accelerometer
etc
got from: http://forum.androidcentral.com/rumored-devices/97987-nexus-prime-6.html
If you keep waiting for the next best thing you'll be waiting forever. Are you satisfied with your current phone? Wait some. Is it really getting to you? Just buy, it isn't like a car or house where you are stuck with it for 5-30 years.

I originally bought the evo 3D on an upgrade to test it out. But after I fell in love with it I went on ebay and got a new SEALED in the box evo 3d with new otterbox defender for $378 (pays not to use buy it now). I then returned the e3d I bought as an upgrade. I dont need the otterbox so I sold it on CL for $45. bringing me to $333 outright no new contract. Im happy as can be. And if the new superphone (want quad core next) comes up within 2 years I still have my upgrade.
I was thinking the same thing. Since Icescreem Sandwich will be a big jump in version (4.0 vs 2.x), it will be like a new generation (future-proof) and it might come with buttonless phones. So even if you can port Icescreem Sandwich to current phones generation, the soft buttons will be obsolete and a waste of space IMO.
Maybe the next flagship phone from HTC with Android Icescreem Sandwich on board will be a big hit? Will it come in December?

This is kind of what I did as well. I traded my Nexus S 4G and cash for the Evo 3D and kept my upgrade and I kept particularly for the Nexus Prime if it comes to Sprint. I honestly loved the NS4G(even though it's built by Samsung it does feel sturdy). Even though it had about the same specs as the Evo 4G for some reason that phone was just plain faster. I think it was because it had a better GPU, but idk, the NS4G is a great phone. The OG EVO is too don't get me wrong, but I just preferred stock Android and it just worked better + fastboot oem unlock and boom the bootloader was unlocked.
Okay so back on topic, yeah if I were you I would buy the EVO 3D off contract if you want it because it is blazing fast and once they get the bootloader unlocked and we can get some AOSP goodness on it, it will be amazing. That way you can keep and upgrade and do that when another phone you like comes out. Or if you do the the EVO 3D on contract, you can always sell it on Ebay or CL and then buy the next best thing using that money and it will be about the upgrade price. I have had the Evo 4G, NS4G and now the Evo 3D all about 6 months apart from each other with only renewing my contract for the first EVO.
If you are always waiting for the next best thing you will be like my friend who still runs a cheezy little dumb phone that is equivalent to a free pay as you go phone. He is like that. Always waiting for the next great phone on the rumor mill. He is currently waiting for the iPhone 5. I LOL at him often...
There will always be the something better around the corner when it comes to tech, it sucks, but that's just the way it is.

I am satisfied with by EVO3d but this new Galaxy Note is the best phone made

http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/index.html?type=find
I never thought I would buy another samsung product but the galaxy note got me thinking about selling my evo 3d as soon as a Sprint Release date is shown if one ever will be.
Im going to miss sense but fellow Evo3d users what do you think of the Galaxy note. I know Samsung is the dark side but you cant argue with the specs.
And no im not a troll I really want your opinions and I am a hater of Samsung, but im rethinking that stance.
I'll admit for being a somewhat anti samsung user, it does look interesting.
Looks good, but still interested to see if Samsung has made updates a priority before I would ever think about taking the dive.
What's the point...its not coming to sprint.

im thinking its made to get ICS, ICS on it will be the only way i put down my evo3d because i really dont see anything on the horizon to make me put my evo3d down, im not into the nexus prime and the sgs2 is nothing but a nexus prime lite and i hate apple more than samsung, so no ip4s. I really would like a bigger screen evo 3d with better contrast, the Galaxy Note would fit my needs only and only if Sprint gets it though. I know its GSM only for now but take the cdma carrier network chip from the epic touch 4g should easily swap in.
Now samsung I don't ask you for anything, I really cant stand you but if you and Sprint can manage to make a Galaxy Note 4g for sprint or call it a Epic Note 4g, Ill pretend to start to like you samsung

This thing + CM9-ICS would be pretty epic.
Well not only am I watching this device closely but it looks like samsung has developed it with ICS in mind

If it comes to sprint im all over it. Perfect screen size for me personally. On paper its the perfect phone for me, other than being a samsung anyway

Eh, not a fan of carrying around a tablet sized phone in my pocket.
4.3 is perfect and it should eb the norm IMO.

what the balls was that video about seriously.... that told me nothing about the phone lol.
Screen is too big IMO. The bigger battery isn't all that to sing about because with a screen that size it will still get the same battery life as any other phone.
The cool thing is the thing will probably see ICS... and so will the gs2.
But in the end, its still a samsung to me. And still a huge con to all the pros.
WOW... 5.3" screen... Suite me with a big palm... Hehe
There are always better phones coming out from time to time (unlike iPhones), no need to put out latest models and say prefer this over that. I am very satisfied with EVO 3D now and unless there is another 3D phone capable of doing ZSL 12MP 2D/8MP 3D pics, 1080p 3D vids @ 30 fps, 4G, NFC, Dolby, Quad-core, IPX7... I am not gonna jump ship yet.

NOW dont get me wrong I love my EVO3d but I remember the feeling I got when I first got my TP2, with the evo3d that feeling was not there but as much as I love my evo3d it was not anything evolutionary about it, its a great phone and it does everything i need it too but all I was saying is the Galaxy Note although it is samsung, have tons more upside than the EVO3d (i miss stylus input badly, and a good camera and that screen 5.3 "BRILLIANT") and all the other devices out here are the same a pixel here a meg there most phone released today are 4"-4.65" 1 to 1.2 ghz 5 to 8mp device all the same. When a 5.3 inch hd screen STYLUS INPUT super big battery 8mp rear 2mp front comes along its definitely different then the norm so yea Ill jump ship then and only then.

[Q] What would you like to see in a new EVO ?

Hey guys I didn't see another thread like this after looking around for quite a while if there is please forgive me and shoot me a link
So here it is what would you like to see in a new EVO ? The origonal EVO to me was a game changer that was way ahead of its time a great phone that for the most part still keeps up with most phones on the market today. The EVO 3D was well a good step in the right direction to me but not a whole new world. What would make a new EVO even more amazing than most of the other smart phones out there I would love to see....
Physical hardware:
-Bigger screen 4.7"
-Thinner design (everyone else is doing it I mean even Motorola which I have always considered to be crap has an incredibly thin phone)
-Better battery life by means of a larger capacity battery+software development)
-Speakers ! not speaker we want the option to make speakerphone calls to loud not the option to move it closer to your ear !
-Do not get rid of the micro sd card like the new one series !
-Sprint LTE (a given)
-More ram everyone is moving toward bigger processors i mean quad core but still with 1gb of ram ?
-Better GPU, my old Samsung Galaxy Tab seams to do better than my evo in this regard.
Software:
-Fast camera(sense4.0 seams to improve)
-Landscape home screen (sense4.0)
-Look at what the devs are doing I am running Eternity and its soo much faster than stock and better in every way.
When it comes down to it I think the EVO 3d is a great phone and unlike most people I actually use the 3D functionality and wouldn't mind them keeping it in the next model.
The popularity and development of the EVO 3D in my opnion has stemmed from the OG EVO and could not be much better IMHO there are allot of great devs working on the EVO and I know that is what has kept me from switching to the Samsung S2. I hope the next round of HTC phones on sprint can live up to the competition in order to keep this great development community together !
So enough of my rambling what do you want in your next HTC from Sprint (EVO)!?!?!
EDIT: I really don't care if its $350 on contract I just want the best quality phone with all the features !
Print money of course but after that, option on Sense 4 to get the old pre-Sense 4 rosie back. I HATE the new Sense rosie! Might as well use launcher pro plus which hasn't been updated in almost a year.
I've been ripping on HTC lately but to be honest, if they announced another 3D Android phone, I'm all in.
What would I like to see? 3D with better cameras and ZSL. A full 720p 3D screen that doesn't cut the pixel count in half when in 3D.
After that it's all gravy. I just want another 3D phone with better features than the current EVO 3D.
Honestly though, if the specs 'leaked' for the Galaxy S III are real, (full 1080p screen) I think I'm jumping ship this year.
It'd be the first time in the better part of a decade that my *main* smartphone wasn't an HTC. :^\
Bring back the kickstand!
If they include 3D, then I'm in
Better battery, sd card slot, quad core, nice screen but not too big.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Lose the 3D, give me 4.7" and tegra 3

Have you not seen the recently announced "HTC One X" at least that's what it will be called in the UK. Google it, its quad core, 720p screen etc, no 3d though....
For me, a screen size between 4.3 and 4.5...anything bigger just seems like overkill, but then again, I though 4.3 was before getting my first EVO! I agree, it's gotta be thin but have good battery life...maybe an HTC version of the RAZR Maxx? Sprint LTE, Qualcomm S4, sense 4.0 (with an UNLOCKED bootloader none of this HBOOT 1.5 crap HTC!!), kickstand, 720p screen, and that's about it! can't wait to buy it haha
Well just bought my girlfriend am evolution 3D off craigslist to use instrlead of her iPhone and after less than a day she is back to her iPhone. Why .... The speaker! Nothing else she likes everything else better about the evolution but spends to much time on speaker phone and it annoyed her.... You here that HTC! Make it loud... I have never really used an iPhones speakerphone before yeaterday or music and all I can say is wow that thing is loud and clear as can be.
I guess when it comes down to it for pure phone / camera functionality iPhone kills any android I've used. Wake up HTC!

Quad core. Thinner and lighter. Kickstand. Better camera. Higher screen resolution. Go back to a HDMI cord that is actually useable (stupid dongle). LTE of course.
Samsung has been tempting me lately. HTC better bring it.
Newest Quad Core with a speed of atleast 1.2Ghz with Turbboost to 1.5Ghz like on the Intel I series Chips. 1.5 to 2 Gb of Ram. 16 Gb Internal memory + 64 Gb SD card included (yeah right not gonna happen with Sprint). Retain the 4.3" 16:9 ratio screen (Like the feel of the 3D much better in hand than the OG 4G) but with 1080p. If they keep 3D (I dought they will) no half definition for 3D mode. A lag free 8 or 12mp (Dual 8mp if retaining 3D) Camera with much better low light sensitivity and FULL functionality like on the Amaze4G. Ofcourse retain SD slot. Retain Camera Button (Me Likey Likey). Maybe move wake button to right side of phone above volume rockers...maybe. Include HML adapter with phone (Cheapskates). Dual Stereo speakers with actual output and a kickstand...even if it kills space for 3D hardware. 2300mah Battery. If even it was 2mm thicker than what we have now it would be ok...it would be a beast. Dual Band WiMax 4G and 4G LTE Radios would be excellent unless they are going to cut contracts with ClearWire then it doesn't matter just 4GLTE.
Now to stuff this in an envelope and mail it to Sprint - Attn: Santa Clause Department / PipeDreamers
But I would buy one tomorrow if it came out...Love my HTC phones.
I will love it if the Battery lasted a few more hours specially when using wifi or the 3d camera also make the camera a lot more faster the EVO 3D take like 2 to 3 second to snap just one pic in 3D. it will be nice if they can improve the camera quality. Make the phone Quadcore plz make speaker louder or at least make them sound a lot better not like some cheap speakers. make it so that we can switch song long pressing the volumes key on the EVO 3D and try to ad a fell new Features or make some optional updates periodically

soon to be AMAZE 4G owner! ONE S what!?

Gonna make this really short and sweet. After weeks of googling youtube videos and other source reviews of pros and cons between Amaze 4g and One S - I have decided to lean towards Amaze = ) for the following YET "HIGH" Pros reason
A) availability to expand memory using MicroSD card - ONE S? = ERRR
B) availability to swap batteries if needed - ONE S? = tsk tsk tsk
C) high-end build quality feel and craftsmanship of the device - ONE S? = BOOoo!
D) the way it looks caters more for "PROS" imho - ONE S? = looks more for beginners = /
E) dedicated camera and camcorder buttons!! - ONE S? = where the F is it!? = /
F) front facing cam - 2mp - ONES S? = ok who designed this ****!?
ETC...
I went to a local Staples store and they have both of these devices on display (dummy) and I've compared both - Amaze just feels better on my hand (just personal preference) and yeah sure One S maybe way thinner and much lighter - I prefer a bit of weight so i'll know my phone is there. Could really careless about One S packing one of the topnotch processors (S4) outhere but there's not much of an improvement from S3. And with the ICS rolled out for Amaze - that's what made me even more excited about getting it. I'm not saying ONE series (specifically S) is not a legitimate new lineup for HTC but c'mon... they could've done it BETTER and i just don't see any HTC or other brands outhere that will be able to match what Amaze packs in terms of specs and hardware combined.
It's funny that I agree, but what do you think about the S3? After all, it is released now. I still love my amaze, sold my first, had the option of the getting the one s or waiting for the s3 but I just couldn't keep my hands away from the damn camera and it's dedicated button, one of the main things that catches my eye on devices.

never really a fan of Samsung devices. I've used it once (when GS2) came out and was not impressed with the overall UI platform (just my personal preference). I guess it's safe to say that i've grown so much to love HTC Sense UI that I never wanna take a chance to jump off the boat to another UI lol. To me, it's more intuitive and user friendly. In terms of customization on sense, there's plenty more for improvements.
I agree with the dedicated buttons for camera and camcorder! def an "eye catcher". Aside from comparing it side by side with One S - I was also able to compare it with other high-end mobiles and little to no devices matches Amazes build quality.
Does lack of Advancing Development steer you away? I mean I have grown to love Sense but Sense 4.0 for the Amaze is still in beta. And there are only WIP AOSP, AOKP & CM9 builds. But once ICS Source is released then it should start to pick up again.
And Welcome, future Amaze owner!

why thank you sir! can't wait to get my hands on it and do a little customization (nothing too crazy) .. I see future dev for this device and this is one of the main reason why i chose this over One S and other. Sense 4.0 on the Amaze is just.... SEX. lol
Off topic question though - I don't mean to veer off the subject but i'm curious what the quadrant standard benchmark set for this device on ICS (root & unrooted). Any difference as far as the results??
Using energy rom u get around 3000 when is used sense 4 beta had around 550mb ram free and got around 3500 on quadrant . And it gets 6700 (more than galaxy note) on antutu on sense 3.6 really badass performance

I went through the same process recently and I went with the Amaze hands down. First and foremost, I got the Amaze for $200 less than the One S. Its certainly not worth $200 more in terms of specs. I couldn't find a One S for less than $440, but I got a month-old Amaze for $235.

what prepaid service are you using? And what kind of down speeds are you getting? If you don't mind me asking.

I'm using the T-Mobile 4GMonthly $30 plan. It comes with 100 minutes talk, unlimited text and unlimited data. The first 5gb of data is 4G/HSPA+ and then after that its throttled. I'm getting very good speeds, sometimes as high as 12-13mbps.
Obviously the One S is nice.....but even if One S is the same price as the Amaze, I would go with the Amaze because of the replaceable battery + microSD card slot. Samsung's flagship phones have both of these things. I couldn't understand why the One S and One X would lack these two VERY important features...
What's the big deal about a removable battery? U shouldn't have to remove your battery if your phone/battery runs fine..
I have NOT missed battery pulls... So primitive

Still trying to convince yourself that the OneS is better? Lol
Just sell the iphONE S and come back to the Amaze.

Worst battery ever... I had to mod the caplights to kill light bleed... Had to put piece of paper in back cover to stop squeaking... electrical tape to stop flash bleed on camera... Broken WiFi calling, and virtually no development.
Yeah... I'll get right on that

I was thinking of doing the same since i hardly even go over 100 mins of talk time. But i would rather have atleast 500 mins just incase emergency comes up. My MyTouch 4G device contract is up this coming Dec and I might just do that if TMo still offers the $30 plan. but wait - i thought the $30 plan is only limited to 2gb. -shrugs-

did you get your device brand new out of the box or used? I guess it depends on the user but i could be wrong. Devices can be inconsistent with it comes to these issues. ie. i've had my MyTouch 4G (not the Slide) for almost 2 years and it's still going strong. Have no problems with it - tried rooting it before but not perm and it works great. Hoping to get my Amaze in 2 days and not run into these issues otherwise i'd throw a fit... but hey.. i got it for free lol

I don't buy anything used. All of the problems that I listed were common amongst users. It is nowhere near the build quality of mt4g glacier... HTC one is more along those lines.

I agree with glacier I have both phones I'm loving the one s mostly. I think the signal could've been better but It's a very nice awesome powerful phone with s4 processor. I think the amaze is awesome too love it but battery life for me is way better on one s. Though I really do.believe Samsung is starting to show up HTC. The galaxy s3 is pretty much pushing the envelope.

the amaze is a good phone for sure, it just got ****ted on by HTC and shouldnt have. this phone could have been so much more than what it is! that being said, you boys jumping over to the one s should have waited for the s3. all US variants have the same hardware, so development is going to be overwhelming! on top of that, samsung has already released the FULL kernel source! hope to see some of you guys over there in the s3 forum with me
