Hey guys,
I've read quite some threads and here is my story.
A couple of days ago my hp touchpad didn't have enough battery and it wouldn't start so i though it was a broken usb cable so i replaced that one and i have left it for days on the charger and still it doesn't respond
I have tried button combinations from Center + Power to Power + Button tapping and volume it didn't respond.
So i connected it to my computer and i press Power + Volume down + Center and it brought me to qhsusb_dload
And i found this
" googled for drivers (try "Qualcomm hs-usb QDLoarder 9008") and installed them, now I had an recognized device in windows.
The I installed QPST (a toolset from Qualcomm I believe), started the EFS Explorer and found a "phone in download modus".
There in EFS Explorer you have the option "Reset Phone". It tried this and my device vanished. After power + center button it reappeared.
This I did for some times and sudenly my TouchPad awoke from a button combination (I don't realy remember but I think it was vol+ & power or center & power) and cried for electricity. So I pluged in the wall charger an it startet moboot!"
But i couldn't find the drivers but i tried again now using Power + Volume Up + Center and it brought to your palm can't be recognized, what kind of drivers do i need and can i fix it?
Please help i've been cursing at my hp touchpad for weeks and since i live in The Netherlands HP doesn't give me one year warranty because it was never released here
There is a great tool that gives you the Palm and Novacom drivers only, rather than having to install the whole SDK. If you google WebOS Quick Install 4.4.0 you'll find it, and that gives you all the drivers you need to connect your TP to a PC.

My HP touchpad still isn't recognized
had your trouble sold
do you have driver Palm
i am in yours
ok youre able to get to moboot, from there will it boot to webos recovery? or can you manually boot it to webos recovery where it shows the big usb symbol on the screen? also when you have problems with your touchpad freezing or not responding or not starting up correctly ,hold power and press the home key 15 times in succession. it never fails me.
if you can get to webos recovery then youre problems are solved, but its some much easier using linux instead of windows. soooo much simpler. if you can get to webosrecovery mode then you will be able to reflash everything.

This could be a full bricked. The HP tablet wouldn't turn on.. I tried entering developer mode with special button combination, windows picks up palm but fail to install the drivers.. I've tried many things and nothing works..
The issue happened after installing android os..
The screen is pitch black.. If I connect the usb normally the middle button flashes with lights but the screen doesn't turn on..
Would someone be able to help?
Has it ever booted into android?
Edit: Either way, try holding power + home button from 15-30 seconds.

Sorry about the late reply
Yes it has booted into andriod for 20 min.. Then bricked. I tried power+home and nothing happens. I have to do power+home+volume up button while just putting in the usb cable and got a "found new driver" but it doesn't finish installing.. and listed as palm. I tried to enter QHSUSB_DLOAD and I download and install the driver but I'm unable to restore the os with webosdoctor or something similar.
I got the screen to flash for a quick 1 second once... by tempering around with the buttons.. Don't think that'll help much?
post edited from getting more info.
Ok I'm reading forum and they say it's hardware failure. I guess to call them....
try to install these novacom drivers:
http://forums.precentral.net/canuck-coding/278224-universal-novacom-installer-uni-v1-2-1-a.html
if you hold the power button and push 10 times the middle button it will make a reboot.
try to get into developer mode by pushing power up and volume up, maybe now it will recognize. what did webos doc say? what happens?
the flashing of the middle button happened to me often.if you charge your hp touchpad it should be gone.
Hey thanks.
The novacom driver I've installed that with WebOSQuickInstall though trying to enter recovery mode doesn't work as webos doc doesn't allow me to click next. The holding the power button and pushing 10 times the middle button seems to work kinda.. It shows a quick low battery image and shut off.. <strike>I'll try giving it another 30 min of charge and try again then..
good luck.
Over an hour have passed now. The screen can turn on now with holding power or wall charging.. It has stopped accepting charges from computer and asked for usb/adapter change. I don't see the battery power bar going up at all. Though I can't boot in OS.. I've tried WebOS Doc and still the same problem where the next is grey out.
I'm thinking it's software probs not hardware related for the battery..
Let it charge full if possible, can you get into developer mode? have you installed the drivers from the link i have given? do you use the usb cable from hp?
I'm not sure how long it'll take to fully charge but I've been charging for 1 hour and I don't see the battery bar advancing. I'll leave it on for 3 hours to charge.. I unno.. I can't get into developer mode, I have installed the drivers you gave me and I do use the usb cable from hp. I'm unable to boot up the HP logo..

With out being able to install the driver I can't enter recover mode right? I've tried uninstalling it and plug it in.
I couldn't sleep last night not because of the tablet.. But I'm off to bed.. I'll check back when I wake up.
deinstall the palm drivers, reboot the pc and reinstall them,
then press power and volume up on your touchpad untill it is schown in windows. then i would do this:
go to the palm directory in program files in windows. copy the attached file i send you to this directory. ( unpack it first )
then start cmd in windows. go to the directory of palm. i hope you know some dos commands. ( cd c:\program files\ palm, inc\ ) and typ:
novacom boot mem:// <nova-installer-image-topaz.uImage
this should boot up novacom driver in your hp touchpad. and now webosdoctor should find it.
hope this will work
.... Your right let it fully charge... duh me... CHEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRSSSSSSS! i panic too much... it just means kinda a lot...
so it booted?
Thank you for all the assistance as I've just expirenced that problem last night. I will try this once I get off from work. I will try to provide any assistance as well if your methods work. Thank you again in advance.
In my situation all I needed to do was hold the home and power button down for 60 seconds.
Also I noticed when left unattended it will "blackout" just repeat the process, and you should be good to go.
Hi All,
So, I tried to flash Cyanogen mod last night using the instructions here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Vibrant:_Full_Update_Guide. I was coming from a BIONIX ROM that flashed fine.
Anyways, the phone went into a reboot loop in the recovery screen and I foolishly just held the power button until it stopped. When I turned it back on it was broken. That is, now all it does is display the white Vibrant logo in the middle of the screen with the smaller Samsung logo below it. If I hold the power button for about 8 seconds the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and then comes right back up to where it was. I can't seem to even turn the phone off any more. It just stays on that screen permanently unless I hold the power button, in which case the screen is off for 2 out of every 10 seconds. Yanking the battery of course turns it off, but putting it back in immediately returns it to the state I've described.
I've scoured these forums and tried every button press + battery state + cable state + SD card/SIM state combo suggested, but the phone won't go to download or recovery mode. I found one thread describing the exact same problem. The OP said he'd try a jig and then disappeared without any further updates. I'm going to try to get my friend to make a jig using one of these sets of instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
http://factoidz.com/how-to-unbrick-your-samsung-vibrant-galaxy-s/
but until then my questions is: does anyone have any experience with this problem (can't even turn the phone off)? If so, do you have any recommendations? Did a Jig work?
keep trying to get to download mode, pull battery, plug usb in to computer and to the phone, while holding both volume up and volume down pop in the battery. People have tried hundreds of times with it not working and then all of a sudden *bam* download mode.
So... my friend made me a jig and it works in that I can see the shoveling droid indicating download mode. However Heimdall/Odin won't recognize my phone. Heimdall's zadig utility won't locate the phone either, even with the cable plugged in. I'm, once again, stumped.
Just an update; I've tried Odin on three different computers, two Windows 7 (64 bit) and a Mac (with Heimdall). None of them seem to recognize the phone. Device manager on the Windows 7 machine does not update when I plug the phone in (in Download mode via the jig or not) and I can't find anything about Samsung in it anywhere. However I have installed the Samsung drivers; a few different sets I've found around the forums. I've also tried a couple utilities like the Vibrant toolbox and one click unbrick. Nothing seems to have any effect. I was so hopeful when the jig worked and got me to download mode, but now it's seeming I'm actually bricked. Has anyone seen a phone that could get to download mode but still be bricked? Oh, and I checked the cable using a friend's phone; her Mac recognized her phone using the cable. Haven't tried her phone on my Window's machines though.
Once again, any help is more than appreciated.
Have you tried to see if adb is working? If it does then try adb reboot recovery? If it works there is a file I can post for you later (is in my pc) that can restore your sbl.bin and fix your download mode problems.
Thanks for your help everyone, the problem was apparently resolved by a new cable; which is strange because the old one works for data transfers... just not for flashing apaprently. :S
Sometimes my I5500 won't turn on.
This has already happened 2 times (with two different firmwares I5500XWJPL and I5503TTLPJP9). The phone shows absolutely no signs of life - screen is black, no sounds, nothing.
I tried everything: pressing VolumeDown+Center+Power, VolumeDown+Home+Power, with or without battery/SIM/charger/SD. Tried removing battery for 30 minutes, charging battery in external charger.
Sometimes when charger is connected, it shows green battery on the screen, but still won't boot.
Last times I spent several hours fiddling with it until it finally turned on..
Can someone tell my if there is a fast way to revive the phone next time this happens?
Maybe your arm11boot is damaged, but still partly working. You need replace that partition. I saw arm11boot partition image in one Russian FW. I can't remember actual name. You can try that, but caution. You might brick your phone compleatly!
sorry for reviving this thread.
but I got the same problem now. Tried to use ROM Manager to install CWM Recovery (following a blogpost explaining how to install a Custom ROM on the SG5). Might have accidentally clicked a different CWM Rec. version than I thought I did. However, ROM manager showed a message, telling me that CWMR was installed correctly.
So I wanted to boot into CWMR up to flash my device with the latest CyanogenMod 7 port from MADTeam. Used the "boot into recovery" option from ROM manager for that purpose. The next thing I know is my phone not reacting to anything.
Tried all methods mentioned afore (Vol- + Home + Power / Vol- + Center + Power, with/w.o. SD card and/or battery inserted). Screen keeps being off, no sign of life, phone wont even do anything when plugged to my PC or a charger.
The phone has been rooted properly before and was running Stock 2.1. Houston, we've got a problem.

Take your battery out, put it back in and turn your phone on, then it will boot up into recovery mode. I also have this problem from time to time, sometimes it boots into recovery, sometimes not and i have to remove/replace the battery.
I actually thought that this might be a useful feature for say - if you wanted to upgrade a friends phone to cyanogenmod in the pub, for example.
did try that. now even had the battery removed for about an hour. put it back in. still no reaction on pressing the power button or one of the combinations that should put it into recovery or download mode. no sign of life when plugging the phone to my computer or the charger.
I do fear the worst, though I dont know how ROM manager was actually able to brick the phone that badly.

In that case then this also happened to me - While exploring the rom manager application after first ever flashing my phone i accidentally selected the wrong phone model from the 'flash clockworkmod recovery' option and my phone was gone forever. Perhaps your problem is similar.
(Luckily it was under warranty and they replaced it. The method worked so well in fact it happened 'accidentally' a second time i acquired a 3rd i5500 out of the box )
bought mine already used, so no chance for a warranty replacement :/
gonna give it a shot with a usb jig now, maybe i can get the thing into d/l mode with that, so I can revive it with odin.

what about the Emergency DLoad Mode, which is not the Download Mode? Did you try it?
{ brvsn ~ CM7 on GT-I5500 ~ Tapatalk }
how do I access emergency d/l mode?
UPDATE
I actually CAN get download mode (or what I assume it to be) running by pressing Vol- + Menu + Power (while Vol- + Home + Power wont do anything, nor does the USB jig that arrived today). Took me some time to discover this, as this doesnt seem to be the usual 3-button-combination used. BUT: while the phone is now recognized by my PC, it wont show anything on the screen.
Odin (tried 4.28 and 4.43 on both win7 x64 and x32 and everyting related to Kies shut down) does now detect my phone. However, it always gets stuck at "Setup Connection" when I try to flash the stock rom or CWMR. Tried different approaches (from starting DL-mode with the phone being connected to my PC to separately starting DL mode and then connecting, starting it up with the battery already being in place, starting it up with sliding the battery in place while holding the 3 buttons etc.), none of them gets me further so far.
Another hint I found was setting the Baud-rate of the Samsung mobile modem to 203400, but this, unfortunately, didnt change anything.
Anyone got a lead on how to get Odin finally started properly?

ops, sorry: I miss your previous message!!
Now I got it and read this last post.. let some time to think about it, I'll replay soon.. but, generally speaking, at this point there's not so much you can do..
If you can get it into Download or Recovery mode, then you should be fine.

download mode is Vol - / Central Button / Power..
Im aware of that. However, Vol- + Menu + Power is the only key combination that the phone will react upon.
Anyway. Brought it to a mobile phone shop on friday, called them on monday and according to them, the phone should be fixed by tomorrow, wednesday. Seems like ROM manager has done damage that cant be undone without knowing how to handle a JTAG device. But at least its not completely broken. Learning that will cost me 25 Euros, though.
One final update to this: Got the phone back today, they were indeed able to fix it.
Conclusion:
While installing a non-fitting CWM-Recovery through ROM Manager will make your Galaxy 5 unfixable via Odin, it still can be saved by making proper use of a JTAG.

Hello everyone,
First of all, let me tell you that I am very good at android rom flashing and stuff and know these things. Now, here is my problem.
1. I have Aoson M19 tablet, which fell and the lcd screen stopped working.. The touch still work as I can see the output on HDMI by connecting it to an external screen. It lied in its box for sometime before I took it out again...
2. It had a pattern lock, which I unfortunately forgot, so after trying many times, it is stuck asking for my email/password immediately after boot (however the wifi is disabled at start so it never goes anywhere)
3. The tablet does not have a volume button, It has a button for Power, Escape, Home and Menu. I tried all combinations possible (as much as I could) to try and boot it so that it is recognized as an Rockchip 2918 device on my pc connected to it, but it does not work at all..
4. I tried using adb but it never shows it as a device when connected..
So I would like to ask the gurus as xda on how can I get my tablet back by either installing a new ROM (if I can get it to be recognized as rockchip device I can install drivers for it), or some other way to bypass the pattern lock somehow. Maybe some sdcard boot trick which I am unaware of till now..
(Note: this is indeed my device, not trying to hack into someone elses). Any help appreciated...
Maybe this will help: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f90...pattern-problem-paswword-without-adb-1717216/
It was mentioned on the last page that Rockchip devices without Volume keys must connect the usb cable to PC and the port on tablet and press the reset button in the hole and the tab will be booted into the correct mode.
Tools: http://www.solidfiles.com/d/747bdce149/Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.7.rar
Firmware: http://www.szaoson.com/UploadFiles/Help/20130829102744_71726.rar ( 4.0 ICS v.1 )
My understanding is that the method for flashing Rockchip tablets is essentially the same across the board. So maybe try this guide for some general direction: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/
I don't know if this will work for your particular Rockchip tablet, but I also found this: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f90...re-tool-how-use-guide-share-sonualok-1786042/
Please keep in mind that I do not have said tablet and am only going off of info I have found on the various forums that people reported success with. Also, be sure you do have the RK2918 version as there is a dual core RK3066 model with the same name floating around that I had noticed. The link provided is for a 2918 version. Good luck!
es0tericcha0s, you are a star, let me try and i will be back with the results.. I hope something will surely work..
Ok tried the reset button trick also, pressing it and holding before connecting the usb, and pressing after connecting usb, also tried the same with power button, but it always boots in android. And as usual the device keeps appearing as 'MID' in devie manager...
still stuck
Quick update
Ok quick update, I finally found the way to get it recognized differently (good or bad)
For Aoson M19, Hold the 'Home' key on tablet and then connect the usb cable to PC. However, it still refuses to install the drivers for the device..
See attached picture, still working on it...
Hi people!
I have this headache with this tvbox since it got stuck at android logo (idk what my uncle did to this device). I can't enter recovery mode, despite I tried with all methods like hard reset button, usb flashing with phoenix suit, or microsd card flashing, it only stays at red light. It even doesn't get recognized by windows (It says "unknonwn device" on device manager).
I tried everything, installing adb legacy drivers, tried with both usb ports, holding the reset button for a looong time and nothing.
So please, I need help of this great community!
Did you find any solution for this mate?
take a wooden toothpick, press the button through the av output one second after power on, after 5 seconds release the button and wait for the device to be cleaned. after that the box will work
