I'd have to say Neutrino 2.6.
It has great batterly life and is super snappy.
It also has different kernels depending on your preference of battery, balanced, or power.
The nightly CNAs. If you dont need the camera. Once that is worked out, everybody will switch to ICS
I've had an Atrix since last October and rooted within days since I got it. I've tried Darkside (don't quite remember which version as it was months ago). then I flashed Aura 1.2.2.2, which I don't think is being further developed, but was very happy with it. Very fast and stable. Then came Neutrino around. Hats off to Notorious for his effort, the rom is superfast and absolutely rid of anything non essential. I am looking forward to see CM9 based version of this rom. since before Xmas I am on CM9 by Jokersax. As with all CM9 roms the stock camera doesn't work, but some 3rd party camera apps do, which is good enough for me. I if you do not use your camera too often try ICS.

Read this post…this is a guide for new atrix users…it has everything from rooting and unlocking version 4.5.91 to links for different roms. Highly recommended!
I like the Neutrino 2.6EE, it is very stable as it's based on the CM7 RC1. I tried CM9 roms love them but, they still have a few bugs like the video playback on some websites and I strangely experience slow web browser speeds (but the battery life was great ) will surely flash one of the cm9 roms when more "stable" versions come out.
I was a huge fan of the Neutrino ROMS but ever since going to turl's ICS, its far too nice to go back to GB. All apps are so much more pleasant to use and scrolling in ICS roms is far smoother than any GB roms, matching iphone scrolling smoothness. Everything from maps to gmail and sms is so much better not to mention the browser which is a huge improvement in terms of speed, usability and smoothness (tip enable the side swip menu options in the labs section of settings). turls latest build has camera working as well so the only thing which i find borked in my day to day use is the camcorder.
+1 what kickassy said. I was previously on Neutrino 2.6, i think it's the best of the GB roms.

Use the .37 baseband as your phone is an AT&T model and use any ROM and kernel you'd like.
Edit: I use turl's latest CM9. Exept for a few games (Temple Run and MC3) not working, it is the best ROM I have used.

This depends on the user. Everyone likes different things - you'll have to experiment for yourself... A ROM that a thousand people love, you may hate.... and vice versa... Noone can tell you what the best ROM is for you. Play around and find one you like.

Hi,
I am currently running the below Custom ROM
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: 2.1.54
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6.1.3 v4.5
Build Number: CM6.1.3 v4.5 [2.2]
So far I havent had any problems with it, but I'd like to know if I have chosen a good custom rom to install. I have searched through the forums trying to find information about which one gives best performance, which ones dont have problems with the camera etc, and to be honest it is easy finding this information.
Anyway, all I want to know is if I am running the latest version of Cyanogen if that's the best rom. If not which one would be better and is there a good guide to installing the ROM.
Also, I have definately ROOT'ed my x10 but I have noticed that I cannot access the /Data/Data folder using ASTRO or Ghost Command.
Sorry for rambling on but just want to know if I have made the right choice.
Thanks again.
u can try wolfbreak's rom its stable and pretty much one of the fastest around
Thanks. Where would I find this installation files/guide for this, and also would I need to change my BaseBand??
I've been using Wolfs rom for quite a while, but the lack of tethering and the relatively unsatisfying battery life started bothering me so I've been using the EWJet for two weeks now.
Great 2.1 Heavily modified ROM, works smoothly and my battery lasted 3 days with several phone calls and light browsing under 75% brightness.
It's a matter of taste though.

Nope you dun have to change your baseband since wolf's rom works with .54 already
installation guide on his thread itself
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264
Just follow instructions for fresh install
and if theres anything wrong just check his second post for faqs.
Anyway tethering works with barnacle and battery usually last 2 days+ for me with some heavy browsing, its depends on how you use your phone i guess
I have used the rom wolfbreak is very stable and he's always updating her ta ..
Even though it's not quite uploaded yet but check out tripnraver's 1.2.0. By all accounts it's gonna be sh1t hot!

Any Froyo ROM will have working camera, Gingerbread ROMs don't have the proper drivers fully functional yet. I know Trip and J have theirs working for VGA but that's about all.
Had too many battery issues with Trips ROMs and Wolfbreak has good stuff, but again, same issues with battery. Probably just me.
rdannar's AOSP Froyo ROM works very well, very fast, and battery gives me no problems.
well i ve tried a few since my baseband is also the same as urs.. cant figure which one really is the best outta the lot..
ive tried wolfbreak's rom n its damn fast n quite gud actually but as everyone's mentioned.. the battery is smwht of a problem..
trip's rom is quite gud 2 actually.. but agn it depends on taste..
As has been said..wolfbreaks rom is the best...
He will update to a new version in the next couple of days so it may be worth hanging on for that.
I have tested the new version (Using TW 007) and I can tell you that the battery is no problem at all. (24 - 36 hours with my normal use)
He has implemented the undervolt module (Which saves battery) and it has other tweaks that save battery.
You can also use the battery optimastion method from OmegaRed (The link is in my signature at the end of this post) which greatly helps with the battery. This can be used on any rom on the x10.
Yeah man, I'm looking for a good rom to use in my X10 as well. I'm having a big problem in changing my baseband (mine is 46) to 52/55/whatever, but I'm searching the forum to resolve it.
By the roms that I've seen around, I liked Cyanogen's and another that I can't remember right now, when I come home I'll write it down =P
I don't mind having a battery life of a day and half or so, don't have to be a 3-day long-life duration...
As soon as I find out what I'm doing wrong with the baseband issue, I'll start testing roms and then I post a righteous answer

You can get your desired baseband from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527 .
You can flash your baseband with flashtool : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 .
There is a guide out there for flashtool too.
For me, i tried:
Trip's roms. They are awesome but not for me thou.
Wolfbreak's roms are stable and it have a good battery life.
EWJet is one of the best I've used but it's based on Android 2.1
And currently I'm on J 's CM7. Working great so far, satisfied with it and probably will stay with it until new roms surface again
Yesssss man =D
I didn't have the xRec installed, I guess that was the problem. Updated bb to .55 and installed Cyanogen 6.1.3 Gingerbread. AWESOME!!!
I don't know about the rest of the roms out there, but this one is perfect for me, almost everything is 'tweakable', just loved it.
Erickwill's ROM is easily the most fully functional and fastest, because it is native 2.1 so everything works.
It makes 2.1 seem like 2.3, it's that good, and it was updated to use the new baseband as well.
Running CM 6.1.3 Froyo 2.2.1 Very stable on my Xperia

Anyhow, If bleeding edge is not your thing, you could try Cognition 1.5.1 with Ragemod kernel (in Original Dev). This is quite stable for past MY USAGE and fits your bill.

I would recommend revolution rom in original android development.
Root your phone. You'll need a kernel with clock work mod installed.
Download the kitchen app. Open the app. Press menu download rom. Then install once download completes.
Once done i would recommend tge cf root kernel v4.2 downloadable from the app. It's quadrant scores are over 4000. I only loose 1% battery overnight and another guy using the rom and kernel went 6 days without charge.
This kernel you cannot undervolt or overclock buy clearly you won't need to.

If you have time, try them and find what matches your requirement.
revolution rom with kitchen app is cool option you may try Darkytool too to uninstall or install apks.
im using batista 2.0 with speedmod kernal and it is sick !!!!! try it let me know what you think
You're only going to find the best ROM for you by trying them. Become familiar with Clockwork Mod Recovery and something like Titanium backup and flash 'till you find something you like.
I'm using Villianrom with the Nymphetamine kernal and I couldn't be happier.
Thanks guys im now using sensation with siyahkernel but i will definitely try Revolution with kitchen app

Batista70 Foxhound 2.1 ROM seems great. Also checkROM. I use Revolution ROM. Don't know, just try them all, it's fun!
Defiantly Resurrection Remix or RootBox for now any way
And kernel either Fluxii, CM9 Remix or Siyah

hi i just bought my phone last week an I've already experienced some lag even though there's not much apps installed. so now i want to try a custom rom. what rom would be the best for first timers thanks..
If you have 2.2 installed (old baseband) than andy's phoenix rom is the best.
Grab it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909242
If you have 2.3 (new baseband) than you should go for Ginger LOL:

here is the link for ginger lol (the link in post two is actually the right link except for the four dots):

in my opinion, i would use andy's phoenix rom. follow these instructions:
a) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15309588&postcount=2
b) also, since you are currently using official gingerbread (2.3.3), you need to downgrade your baseband version, instructions found here
thanks for the info man. as i've read, most roms will eventually support the new baseband. so i think, im gonna wait a little longer for that. one more thing though. i though when i install rom, the kernel comes along with it, but as i read it seems that i need to flash my kernel too? thanks for your help.
phoenix rom comes with franco's .35 kernel preinstalled
There's no need to install other kernel.
roms using old baseband is never going to support new baseband...
DUDE I prefer, no need to root your stock rom for installing custom rom.
follow http://lg-p500-optimusone.blogspot.com/ if u want this.

Franko kernel 19.4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518

Hi,
I was thinking of installing a custom ROM on my Optimus One/P500 last year but decided not too and kept using the stock 2.1 ROM, until yesterday when i installed the root uninstaller app to remove some of the annoying default apps and somehow messed the phone up and now it won't start!
So now i wan't to install a custom ROM with Gingerbread, but there seem to be so many different ones with different specs that a n00b like me just isn't 1337 enough to understand.
I'm looking for a simple Gingerbread ROM without too many fancy add-ons, it should have the default Gingerbread theme, should run faster then and get better battery life then stock Android 2.1, and be stable enough for everyday use, please suggest which ROM i should install!
Nearly 90% of the official roms are uploaded with megaupload and those links are down

You should update to Official Gingerbread for Optimus One.
Better battery life? No way. Stock Froyo version has the best battery life. Any Gingerbread rom will drain your battery quick. The only advantage is that Gingerbread run more fast.
First update to official gingerbread for the new baseband..
follow this http://webtrickz.com/install-offici...te-on-lg-optimus-one-using-kdz-updater-guide/
and root it.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
and Flash Perfectpeso ROM its Good
If Gingerbread will drain the battery too much, what's a good user friendly and minimalistic Froyo ROM that will have better battery life then stock?
Also i seem to have messed up my stock ROM while trying to get rid of some default apps using the "Root Uninstaller" app from the Android market, It won't get past the 'ANDROID' title screen, Is it possible to install a new ROM without having to start the phone?
If you doesn't want to change baseband, you must search rom that works on the old one.
There's even a fix that made possible use the gingerbread ron on the old baseband.
Some roms (like nightlyfour by eeee616) has a old baseband version, other (like Perfectpeso by tretted) has linked the fix for old basebad by adfad666.
Bye!
How do i install a ROM without having to start the phone? Since i have messed up my stock ROM

You can flash custom recovery via LGMDP tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15217609&postcount=3
Then hang the three button combo Power+Home+Vol down till recovery opens and flash the ROM there.
If you want Froyo, I suggest you devoid #froyo-final .
But I don't agree with previous posts - I think, the battery in Gingerbread is much better than in Froyo.
Better use mik's CM 7.1 ROM. i had used it for almost 4 months with no issues. If you are a heavy user of 3g or 2g data, it is recommended that you upgrade your baseband for a slightly better reception, if not, stick to this baseband, and you can flash the recovery via LGMDP tool(link in the post above mine).
I have been using the latest CyanogenMod 7 after updating my phone with the official LG updater, re-rooting, installing Rom Manager, and it's great. Especially with this kernel

Go for 2.3.6 GB as that is more stable than any ICS out there at the moment. If you go to CM9 you will find it is stable enough to use as a daily driver but you have a few minor details missing. Like video recording, usb storage (or mount storage something like that) youtube not working and any flash player not working properly as they need kernel sources for that.
So flash a 2.3.6 rom flash the new ICS theme and your good to go

Yeah im on LPB and i get instabilities everyday, though not to a serious extent. I would still recommend using the gingerbread ROMs for now until the official final versions of the ICS ROMs are out in march. Less than a month more. Just bear with it!
There is already a couple of quite detailed threads on this subject in general.

I guess you guys are right 2.3.6 is far more stable ..
I have tried ICS 4.0.3 before and it is full of bugs from time to time force close most of apps and get battery life shorter and shorter
one more thing to ask is the CPU speed of S2 increases due to usage because I installed android assistant and got it current speed as 800mhz is this normal ..
or I have to increase it manually ?
ive heard resurrection rom is pretty stable, havent tried it since LP6 and back then the battery overheated and it lasted nothing. Then i tried wanamlite on LPB and didnt quite work for me so i went on wanamlite LP6 v7.7 and its pretty stable but still had couple of bugs and fc's. im feeling tempted to try LPH and i will do it tomorrow
as for GB 2.3.6 stock worked great for me but missed the ICS interface, on GB ive heard checkrom v4 is pretty damn god, didnt work for me due to battery but oh well i didnt quite tweak stuff to make it go longer
as for you frequency question if you want to undervolt it you need a kernel that allows you do to so and then use the setcpu app on market, it should be on 1.2ghz on stock. To verify your frequency i suggest using cpuspy app on market so you can verify the same
hope it helps you mate
cheers

sorry mate I'm new here ..
since I9100XXLPB touchwiz is going worst, i switch to nova launcher which run flawlessly.
- APN configuration are not lost
- samsung software update bug going since LP2 have been removed
- little improvment in battery life
- still a few FC but going better and better, perfectly usable for every life
- i have a few bug with winamp since I9100XXLP2
- don't now if it's linked to rom or if i made something, but since LPB i can't install any apps on SD card
- 3G is better, seem easier to find connection
I tried both LPB and LPH ICS roms. The current ICS roms are good and constantly getting better, but are a still a little too buggy for me. One thing's for sure, I had constant wifi disconnects using the lph modem. In the end I went back to KL1 modem which works flawlessly for me.
