OMG, they sold out just that fast. I was just browsing for accessories when I saw the link with prime from Amazon. Ordered it and came to post hear. Clicked on the link in first post and gone. I just ordered the transformer from BestBuy a hour ago.

Well, the closest Fry's to me is 150 miles south in the Bay Area, I think I'll skip that, thanks anyway though. NorCal is pretty much devoid of Fry's, except for the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area's.
Edit-Just for fun I checked their online availability tool, it seems the Campbell (SF Bay Area) and Roseville (Sacramento area) stores have them in stock, but Campbell is 170 miles south of me, and Roseville is 150 miles southeast of me, with gas costs that would easily bring the price of it to over $200

That sucks. At least you have the TF. I just returned my A500. When the refund hits my account I'll try and pick up the TF... I have a funny feeling everything will be sold out again by then.

That's true, I bought mine from Best Buy online, I actually have one of those fairly close to me, it's 70 miles south of here in Santa Rosa. We have Staples and WalMart in Ukiah (the "big" city in Mendocino County at 16,000, about 10 miles south of my place), but Staples here only sells the Xoom, and WalMart only sells the iPad and iPad2. They seem to be in stock more and more and longer and longer now, I don't think you'll have a problem getting one soon.
So you tried out the Acer, what did you think of it? I looked at them, but it's 100 bucks more, and it looks like it's a lot thicker and heavier. I love my TF anyway, so I'm all set

Well, if you still are, then I suggest you runs down to your local Office Depot, as I was able to locate them in at least 3 of my local stores.
Most have received the docks within the past 2-3 days. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I called my local Office Depot this morning, and they had one waiting for me when I showed up! They said they only had the one, but that it was getting restocked fairly regularly. The TF201 dock does not show up in search on their website when I looked by name, only when you search by item number (941611), or you can just call the store and ask them to look for it by that item number.
Ordered from Best buy, it wss backordered till Feb 15th or something. It was two days ago. Arrived today, didnt even get email confirming shipping. This is crazy. Im happy, keyboard works fine but the battery was depleted. Charging now.

Yes. At one of the Office Depots I visited, they had received both versions. It's worth a try if you are looking for the champagne version.

I got mine off eBay and its perfect. The colours may not match and there might be Taiwanese characters on my keyboard, but it works flawlessly and i'm loving the usb port (purple colour dock)

I just was able to buy a dock from the local bestbuy with in-store pickup! Check your local best buys, they have them! ( I'm in Northern California)

I picked one up last night as well.... got home, played a bit with HC, then did the ICS upgrade.... then my brand new tablet became useless, as I have the defect with it rebooting constantly - within minutes of boot it reboots.
Will call the manager and see what they are willing to do. I know I can exchange, and keep it on HC and be fine. It is a solidly built tablet - and a great price.
Will update everyone with what I do!

I'm super tempted... there are "10+ in stock" at my nearest (in Detroit) microcenter, but should I make the two hour round trip drive to get one or should I just wait for my Amazon order which is set to ship soon-ish?

did you check best buy online for local availability? I found some finally locally this way this weekend in NJ.. called the store.. confirmed they had it and put my name on it.. got there asked out the dock and they had that also.. finally have both.
OMS orders in a Bestbuy store works like a charm you just need the sku number of the prime and theyll get to you within a week

I don't know if the sales guy was just an idiot but he said they had none in stock :/
go to customer service.. I did the same thing.. went to the sales guy and he gave me some answer that it meant it was orderable in store.. took me an hr each way to go to that store.. went home and saw another store showed that status now .. called and they said yup they had it.. even made them confirm before I took another hr drive.. well after 4 hrs finally have it.. first store I tried to call and they never answered the night before so went then next morning to get there about opening time to get that answer.. that was from a kid on the floor.. should have known better.. I have been seeing this in varying stores so it really is what they have not that you can just order it..
Try an Office Depot. They are in stock at many locations and few people think to try them.

OD has them with free delivery by 1/25. You'd also be able to return it in-store if you have a problem.

I did the exact same thing. Saved some gas and time.
I'm on a flight to the states, just about to take off. Had intended to get TP in USA, but having read this forum, it seems the ones in the UK have less issues. Is this correct? I have a stop over in London and could try to pick one up in duty free...
Is there even a difference? The biggest advantage would be that a UK model would come with a 3 pin plug.

I don't know....seems like I remember reading about a UK guy that had 8 returns....But I think that the best thing would be to get it in the country that you live....that way you're sure there are no "unforseen" problems, like DRM liscensing, etc.

Keep in mind though, the wifi channels for the wireless adapter stop at 11 in the states. Also, I'd tun it on in the store where you get it, make sure everything is OK with it in case you have to return, you can do it on the spot.

7 returns, me. I would recommend buying one in YOUR country, and from the shop with good refund policy. You could in theory buy one in duty free and check it there and then, the but if it's Dixon Travel, and I believe they are the only ones selling this sort of tech, you can only return it to normal store not duty free, at least that's what I've been told by one of their staff. You will pay about 40% more in England. All consumer electronics are a lot higher.
IMO a subjective non validated improvement is not worth the premium. Not to mention if you have issues with the device and need to have fixed or returned.
in England, it comes bundled with the keyboard dock. You cantt buy the tab on itss own.
None available in the airport, just ipads, acer and a Samsung 10.1" but they had no model information... I'll get it in the States.

Whilst this is often true, to be fair to Asus the price they are charging the UK for the Prime+Dock bundle is pretty much the same as the total cost for the two in the US if you factor out the 20% VAT we pay in the UK and convert to USD at 1.5$ to the £.

I took a walk around Chicago last night and didn't find a shop that sells tablets. What shops stock the TP? There is a Best Buy a couple of miles away, should I try there? It's times like this when Google Maps is your friend...
Best Buy or Staples might be your best bet for finding one in a big box store. Also, Best Buy has their satellite stores (Best Buy Mobile) in malls and what not that you may want to try. I was just in one yesterday and they at least had a floor model on display (not sure if they actually had any in stock though)

That's interesting, I know my local Best Buy only received 2 as well. I actually bought one and then returned it when my Champagne pre-order came in.
Order from US Amazon.com, and have them next day or 2 day it to your hotel.... if they will ship to hotels??? Guess just put the hotel address, and in care of yourself. If something is wrong with it and needs to be returned before you leave, they pay for return shipping.

Tried to order one via Amazon, but they have none, except for non Amazon traders who are looking for a fortune...
Gonna look into ordering it via Amazon UK and getting it delivered to a friend in London (i'll be passing through next weekend) only trouble is the UK ones are all with keyboard, so still very expensive.
Anyone want to suggest other options? Bear in mind I'm living in the middle east, and Amazon won't deliver there...
Also, what's the best colour? I used a purple one today, which was on display, I presume that is the one called grey ?

If you are a non-EU resident, you can claim the VAT back when you leave the country, which will save you about £80 bringing the cost down to the US level.
