Cant tell if I am running the new firmware - HTC Rezound

I am currently running Nils Business ICS Sense 3.6 v3.3 and I am not sure if I am running the new RUU leak. In settings, under build number, it says "3.11.605.22 CL339740 release-keys"
Would flashing the patch that was posted in Nil's OP for the ROM make my phone think i am running 3.11.605.22 even though I am running the old firmware? Or does this mean I installed this new firmware when I recently unlocked my bootloader?
Thanks

First way to tell is in your bootloader it will say "Tampered" at the top. Second is the version is 2.21.0000. If your phone is working fine then don't worry about flashing the new firmware. Wait for the update.

OR
did you remember ever going into hboot and installing the RUU?

Easiest ways to tell;
Tampered and hboot version as stated above. Also the new radios are 1.xxx, old ones are 0.9xx. All of this info is found in hboot.

[Q] another firmware question...

i hate to ask this but I just can't get it figured out for sure. I am on Clean Rom 4.3, my build number is: 3.11.605.22. I dont think I've ever done an RUU. I rooted / unlocked with the All in One Toolkit, and then installed CR 4.3, and then did the patch and kernel.
So if I wanna try something else, like BAMF, can I just flash it or is there still the RUU that I need to do?
thanx in advance...

Just the patch. BAMF is based on the leaked firmware, so just make sure you flash the patch with it. That one will have a special PH img also. It's called PH98IMGoldfirmwarepeople.zip.
EDIT: And if that's your true firmware, you already flashed the RUU. I think that's just the build of the ROM. Go into HBoot and you'll know for sure if you flashed any kind of RUU on your phone. Your HBoot number will be higher.
in HBOOT I have HBOOT 2.11.0000, eMMc-boot, Oct 6, 2011

Perfect. Then you're on the old (official) firmware so you just need to flash the ROM in recovery, the patch, and the PH98IMGoldfirmwarepeople (in bootloader).
EDIT: And just so you know in the future, your HBoot would be 2.21 if you were on the new firmware.
ok cool. is the alternative to just do that entire ruu leaked ics process, and then I'm updated and can just flash roms w/out patches. Is that the better way to go?
sorry for all the questions, that is it I promise...
thank you

Well, that would be an easy way to do things, but because you can use ROMs without it, I would just not do it yet and wait for the official OTA. I updated, but that's just me.

[Q] Getting back to stock

So, I updated to the leaked kernel and would like to get back to stock. I know we had to wait for s-off, and since we have it now I was hoping for a how-to. I see we have a back to stock radio but what about the stock RUU? I am still getting used to all the terms here. Learning the difference from kernel/RUU/Radio/Rom. I am only confused on kernel and RUU.
I do have s-off.
Thanks All,
XDA user are the best
I would avoid flashing the radios. I would flash the latest GB RUU. After that you can flash and downgrade your hboot to the eng hboot 2.11 if you would like. Then go about how you would have dine before to run ics roms with the firmware patch unless the dev says otherwise......
If I am wrong someone will correct me.....as I have not done this.

BeringBullet, are you rooted? I ask because I also installed the ICS leak and want to go back to stock but I dont want to root.
Does anyone have a link to the GB RUU? I cant find a working one.
Not the most recent one but you can update over the air:

Yes I am rooted, thanks for the link.

Then I assume you haven't done S-OFF? You will have to root to do the exploit. If afterward you run the GB RUU and flash the eng HBOOT, you can run stock unrooted ROM.
Word of warning; IF you flash the eng hboot after RUU'ing back to GB. Don't attempt bringing S-ON back to the device as you will brick to an unusable state.
Here's a write-up I made in another thread, just a quick summary of what steps to take. You can leave the stock hboot but if you wish to flash radios and/or s-on you will need to unlock.

[Q] To ICS leak or not?

I hope this is not covered someplace and i am just missing it. I have searched the forums and no one has yet answered this to my understanding. There are many posts regarding the process, but not much info on the benefits, so here goes:
Ok so I am rooted and running CleanROM 4.5 Standard. I am S-On with an unlocked bootloader. So here are my questions:
1. Given I am using the GB Patch method, is there any reason to re-lock, and flash the RUU to the latest leak version? (that is possible right?)
2. Is there any benefit to not using the GB patch method in terms of battery life, stability, radio reception etc?
3. Should I just S-Off anyway so whatever happens with the new OTA and going forward I can have all my options open?
I am happy with CleanROM 4.5 so far, but I am concerned about the future and whether running the Gingerbread firmware will work long term. Will i lose any future ICS functionality by not upgrading the firmware and using the patch method? Is there a down side to the patch method other than having to run the patch when flashing ROMS?
Everyone seems to feel differently about ICS.
Personally, the new radios in the 3.14 leak ruu simply out preform the gb radios.
I'm also getting much better battery life running on ICS firmware.
If you're already unlocked, instead of relocking, s-off your phone. Than flash the RUU, which will wipe out your recovery and give you ICS with s3.6. At that point you can either stay on the stock leak, or flash a recovery (amon ra 3.15) and flash custom roms.
I would s off...each day the ota comes closer and closer....it's doubtful it could close the s off method, but why take the chance... That's my logic anyways. Like I said its doubtful...but hey, ya never know.
Updating to ics ruu will give different radios, and if you stay on ics Rom you won't need old firmware patch.
S off makes flashing roms wayyyy easier...boot IMG install on most automatically. And you can upgrade or downgrade to whatever ruu works best for you.

You can also just update the firmware. Superchillpill has a thread on it in the dev section.

If you S-OFF you can upgrade then downgrade if you don't like it. Honestly it is worth the try if you have time to do the procedures.
My phone has never run better than on the newest leak and Newts xxx rls1

Do I need to update radios? What is the benefit of updating radios, RUU's, etc.

latest RUU is 4.03.605.2 which i think has 2.22.10.0801r, 2.22.10.0803r
with 2.27 Hboot which you can check by going into bootloader
im not a radio genius. So someone correct me if I'm wrong
but check the rest of your "about phone section" for RUU information
4.03.605.2 is the newest radio just google i and you will find it. I use this one and I think it has more stable 4G signal,
Be advised that 4.03.605.2 is a Leak. Since you are s-on if you flash the global leak you will not be able to take any official OTAs.
I would use the official RUU which will update you and then take the OTA that just came out a couple weeks ago. Find the RUU here:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Vigor
It's the top one, 3.14.605.12
Then if you are not happy with your reception you can always go up to the global leak if you want, you just can't go back down to a lower version without s-off.
Before you do this back up everything you need as this will wipe your phone and put it to factory stock.
You need to relock your phone to run it:
fastboot oem lock
And then you'll need to unlock again and flash Amon Ra before flashing a custom ROM again.

So, this build number is confusing me. This is what I presently have and I'm not sure how I got here
Baseband 2.22.10.0801 /....803
Hboot 2027
Build 1.11.401.110
Seems like everyone else with this radio combo is on build 4.03 or something like that.
Is there any advantage to me upgrading to that build? I am S-Off and hate the prospect of relocking or having my internal SD wiped if I don't have to go through that.
Build number has nothing to do with firmware. It's set by the ROM. You're already on the global firmware.

Thanks. I can sleep now.
Is there a rooted version of the RUU? I'm relatively new to locking and unlocking my device so I'm not sure if I'm ready to do all that by myself. (a friend helped me root my device in the past)

Ok thanks, I thought i read somewhere that there are custom RUU's that are built specifically for root users but i guess not.
Oh I've never heard of that befor. You may be thinking of the option of downgrading hboot for s-off users
Those are flashed the same way like ruu's

[Q] Stuck Need Help!!!!!!

Hi, my rezound was rooted running cm 10.1 liquid smooth and i am upgrading to the droid maxx soon so i relocked my boot loader go the ruu from androidpolice.com (ics) and attempted flashing in hboot but it says (hboot version too old update failed) my hboot version is 2.28 and im s-on.
You have to run an RUU that is the same version as your hboot. You can't run an older RUU on an s on phone. There's no downgrading when you're s on.

i know but i need the ruu all of them ive tried so far dont work
Look in about phone/software/more or something close to that and post your baseband versions. I think it may be an OTA update that wasn't available as of early July in RUU version. You may have to unlock it and manually flash the stock Rom and recovery but I'll see if an RUU has been uploaded since then. Someone from the HTC Elevate program might have one lying around. That's where I usually see RUU's that haven't been available to the general public.

this is the android police site http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/
http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/716364-newest-global-rom.html
That page in posts #3 and 4 has the info and link you need. Really you only need the recovery out of that set of stuff. But if you're s on you will need to flash the whole package. But you want to first flash the latest stock Rom that's available, if you're still on a cm10 Rom. That would be the first thing I do is get back to a stock sense Rom anyway. Then you can flash the stock firmware update which contains stock hboot, recovery, and radios.

You have the hboot provided from the last OTA update, there is no RUU out for it. Only way to revert is s-off your phone first.
