On ICS and no problems till yesterday, was updating some apps on google play and had to leave the wifi area, closed the prime and next time I get server error. Tried stopping the app deletining cache, still same problem. So tried uninstalling all updates to play and got back to Market, still the same error. Tried a Factory reset and still getting the same error.
Any ideas anyone ?
Just tried looking at Google Play on the PC and does not now recognise the Prime even though Gmail has synched OK on it

Hi,
It might be worth deleting your account, re-booting, re-installing your account , and see if that works.
Tried that, eventually resorted to a Factory reset. Still the same problem and now the Prime is not recognised on the PC Google store whereas it was previously, but Gmail is syncing withe the Prime no problem, really weird. But if I cant access the store its not fit for purpose and is going back

Have you tried simply turning off your Prime's Wi-Fi setting and turning it back on? I got that same Server Error and did not go away until I turned of Wi-fi and back on. Weird, I know. This happened to me like 3 times when I was trying to delete caches and data and whatever else to get rid of the 101 error. Rebooting did not cure it, either ... I had to actually off/on the wi-fi setting. Go figure.
Once you get rid of the server error, if you still have the Market/Google Play error, simply delete your Gmail account under Settings | Accounts & sync by clicking on your Gmail account, then clicking the "options" icon on the upper right of your screen (6 small square dots). Reboot and go back into your gmail accounts, etc ... logging in as necessary.
Hope it works for you, too...
Have the same "server error" on 101 for 2 days already.
Tried everything, including changing to different firmwares, different market versions e.t.c. Not working. And old versions does not auto update too.
Seems like the problem with market server address, but it;s a bit strange that it remains even after changing firmware, and other Google services work normally.

You did not mention removing your Gmail account under Accounts & sync in Settings, then rebooting ... worked like a charm for me. As soon as I logged back into Gmail and went to the Market, all was well. So, if you did not already try it, you might give it a shot. My Prime was getting that error for a full day ... got really annoying.

Hi Michael,
It sounds like you're having general connectivity issues - please try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
- Reboot your device
- Sign in and out of Google Talk repeatedly to restore connection to our servers:
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already signed into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Clear the cache of the Google Play Store app (Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Play Store > Clear cache)
- If you're using WiFi, ensure firewalls are not blocking access to ports required for Google Play (TCP and UDP 5228)
- Confirm that there is strong connectivity on your device, and contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected
- Uninstall updates to the Google Play Store app by visiting:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Play Store" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
If none of these steps resolve the issue, please let me know, and I will continue to investigate the problem - any other detail you can provide about the issue and how/when it occurs will be extremely helpful.

@TaIz82 @stevenshea great! Glad that it worked for you.
@G1azier I tried vpn but no use, maybe I got on wrong one Great that there is this solution too.
@macowbourne
This can hardly be an general connection issue, I have around 600 people visited my blog post, with same issue. And they didn't have it ever before.
One more proof that this is not connectivity problem, all this user can search apps from the phone, but they cant install them in most of cases. So connection to server still exist, problem is with showing filtered content of home screen of Play app for some regions/providers.
Thanks to @G1azier post and his solution, I updated my post with US VPN solution that works even if device is not rooted http://viewoneworld.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/google-play-server-error-quick-fix check it out!
It's definetly at Googles end just used a proxy server to kid it I'm in the UK and hey ho works perfectley all apps downloaded and synced

I added permanent fix solution for #GooglePlay server error on my blog post http://viewoneworld.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/google-play-server-error-quick-fix/
Hello,
I am using HTC explorer (Android 2.3.5) for about a month now. For the past 2 days I am facing a strange problem. I am unable to download apps from Google Play via internet pass through. I am able to browse the internet but when I try to download any application, a grey bar appears saying "Waiting for network" and it never ends. I am able to download the same apps through Wifii. I tried all the possible solutions to make this work (hard reset, soft reset), but found no luck. I changed the default 2GB sd card with a 4GB sd card same days back. But even after that I was able to download via internet pass through. This is little strange. Can somebody help me in this respect.
Thanks in advance,
Nirmal Kumar Bhogadi
Try to clear cache and data of play store
I'm having the same issue. I've used internet pass through on my EVO 3D for quite a while, thinking about changing plans to less data. Pass through works fine for almost everything, but suddenly won't download Google Play updates. But if I clear data and cache, it then thinks there is no update. It is as though it updated, but doesn't recognize it as having completed. The one thing I haven't been able to update ever by PT is new maps for CoPilot Live. It absolutely insists on wi-fi.
Clear data from google services framework, fixes most problems with Google apps.

Thanks for your replies guys!!!
I cleared the data of google services framework, play store but still the problem exists. I am still unable to download from play store via internet pass through
SOLUTION
Hi there,
go to settings> applications>put a tick mark or select unknown sources . Ur problem wil be solved.
Thanks G_IVAR, for posting a reply. But the option is already checked. The only way is working is to settings--> applications--> Manage applications--> Google Play Store and click on Uninstall updates. The Play Store disappears on the phone and the Old market appears. Now when i try to download any application (with internet pass through), the download starts (making me happy) and disappears within 5-10 seconds. When I check my phone this time, again Google Play appears instead of Market. I think the Google guys have made something so that the market apps doesn't download with internet pass through (with a USB cable).

This probably won't help, but I'm curious. What happens if you go to Google Play via a PC and try to do a remote install that way?

Thanks for contacting us about this issue- it sounds like you're having general connectivity issues. It's frustrating for us when users have problems with connectivity, because there is only so much we can do before you need to contact your service provider. However, I'd like you to try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve this quickly:
- Reboot your device
- Confirm that the app Google Authenticator is up to date - visit Google Play, then tap My Apps to see if you have an update available
- Sign in and out of Google Talk to restore connection to our servers:

Hi there,
I'm using a Sensation, and also having this problem. It's really most annoying.Any idea how widespread this problem is, or if it is something that Google has disabled deliberately?
Me too... but I'm able to download using JellyBean... but ICS can't..
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S
I have a Live with Walkman (WT19i) that recently has been rooted. I use original live Walkman ROM (gingerbread 2.3.4 build number 4.0.2.A.0.58).
I'm not using any custom ROM, just this original, and never faced any problem at all. The problem started when I found a patch of Google play store on a forum. The steps was to put the apk into the system and change the permission. I guessed I already do the right steps, and then rebooted my phone. But after that, whenever I tried to open the Market, there was an error message 'com.android.vending has stopped working'. I tried to clear data and cache but no luck. I tried to install a lot of different Play Store apk but still the same. after I tried several times, the market opened but when I tried to download, the error popped up again. I cleared data and cache several times. succeeded in open the market again. But when the market told me to agree to the ToS with my email, it FC again.
I got frustrated and then I tried Reset Factory. It wiped all my data, and the worst is after the Reset Factory, I couldn't find the 'market'. It's really made me frustrated. Then I found a similar problem with me at this forum [http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...-com-android-vending-has-stopped-unexpe.html] which tell me to install those apk one by one. The Market is for HTC phone, but it works for me until now. The application stays as 'Market' not "Play Store", I can open and download the apps from there, BUT maybe because the server of that Market is from India (while I'm from Indonesia), sometimes when I browsing/downloading, it took several minutes to loading. AND ALSO whenever I tried to open Paid Applications from market, I got that 'com.android.vending' error message again.
Then I realized that at the very beginning of this Market version, it does asked me to agree with ToS of Market, BUT without a detail of my email, only the agree sentence (While in the Play Store, it comes with current email, right?).
And then I also realized that some applications with my registered email in my phone, such as YouTube has a problem I never faced before this Market problem. When the YouTube ask me to Sign in with my email, I put it in and after that the YouTube FC. I reopen it, and an error appears like this 'an error occurred'. But the YouTube still opened, just that error appears every time I open YouTube.
So I realize that maybe something is wrong with my email in my phone. It is like this:
- The actual Play Store ask to agree with ToS with the email stored on my phone, but it suddenly FC. While my current Market (HTC version) didn't comes with email at the beginning of ToS and doesn't FC.
- Before I got this Market problem, my YouTube always signed in without problem. But now, that 'an error occurred' message always popped up every time I open YouTube but it doesn't FC.
- I realized that when we open a Paid Application from market, it needs our email detail which I think that trigger the error of my market again since it related with email.
BUT there is no error in my Gmail application in my phone. It sync messages like usual. That is I don't know why,
And one thing. For now, whenever I tried to install a Play Store apk, it never succeeded. It always ended "Application not installed".
Only this HTC version of market that I got from that forum could be installed. I don't know why.
I'm really confused right now because I don't know what to do with this since I used my original ROM. I've searched several forum including XDA, but there are only with custom ROM which I'm afraid I couldn't touch it with my original ROM and beside I don't really know much about this kind of problem, only the basic knowledge for rooted phone users. Please help mo to resolve this problem because I really love my phone so much and want it works without problem...
Please help and thank you very much before..
Anyone please..?

Since you wiped your data, flash a ftf file with flashtool. It should work, as it has never failed me.
Hey guys,
So for some time now I noticed that my google talk app was working intermittently. I thought it was a one day thing, but the problem persisted. It wasn't until by chance that I went to the google play store and searched for the new app, google hangouts, and selected "open" from the play store that it worked and signed me in without any problem. So I thought to download the app, when I did and tried to sign on, it always says, "couldn't sign in because we couldn't reach Google, try again" Has anyone else had this problem?
Also I am unlocked and rooted. In addition I read this thread from this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280486&highlight=google+hangouts
but they trick they suggested didn't work for me.
Has anyone else experienced this issue on their rooted htc one and solved it?
Thanks in advance
Hello everybody. I have been having problems with downloading items from the Play store on my Android phone. After spending hours trying to solve the issue by myself and seeking help unsuccessfully, I've gotten desperate.
The problem description is that every time I try to download an app from the Store, I'm presented with the following error message:
<app name> could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7:AEC-7 3YGA-G3G7-CV0FK]) This happens with either purchased or free apps, and with both new or ones that are already installed on my phone.
I've been trying to research the issue. XDA even has a guide on play store errors and have found recommendations for error messages similar (not identical) to mine, but none of what I have found has helped me.
Here is what I have tried so far
-Cleared app store, download manager, play services and services framework cache and data on my phone.
-Uninstalled and reinstalled the play store app on my phone.
-Removed and re-created my account on Settings -> Account on my phone.
-Factory reseted my phone.
I will appreciate any advice you can give me regarding the matter.
Best regards.
tl;dr version: <app name> could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7:AEC-7 3YGA-G3G7-CV0FK]) when trying to get stuff from the play store app on my phone. Tried all of the above.
Hi, I have had similar issues to what you describe. I have found that Google Play seems to throw an error whenever I try to download an app using a Google account that isn't registered to Google Plus (Google +). I would suggest signing up for Google + (even though you may never actually use the social network) and try downloading the app again.
Alternatively, you could sign in using a different account already signed up to Google + and try downloading the app.
Another thing you should make sure is that your Google Play Services are up to date.
If you are using an older Android version, the app may simply not be supported on that version of Android (in which case, you may want to look into installing the latest update from your manufacturer or flashing a custom rom of the newest version possible for your device)
Let us know if signing up for Google + does anything.
Good luck,
Golfball_Pro

I'm glad I could help, you're welcome
Tried clearing data/cache for Play Store apps, flushing the hosts file to just 127.0.0.1 localhost, and tried connecting to G+. G+ is giving a can't connect to the server error. I may just have to go back to MoDaCo Gr9.2 and forget about rooted 6.3.3. At least Play worked on MoDaCo last time I used it.
