Quick question. What kind of launcher or 'ui' (if it's called that) does AOKP and CM9 have?
I know there are other roms that are TouchWiz based (thats the launcher name?), but AOKP and CM9 do not appear to be that.
I want to google image the difference between TouchQiz and CM9/AOKP launchers to see what the visual difference is.
Thanks a bunch
No! Touchwiz is not the launcher!
Touchwiz "features" and Touchwiz Launcher are two different things.
AOKP/CM9 usually use Trebuchet, or a few others like Nova/Apex.
Why ask the question just Google the difference between cm9/aokp and touchwiz

I try not to stare directly at Touchwiz's launcher to avoid damaging my retinas. I recommend taking all necessary precautions.

I've tried painting over touchwiz, yet it managed to somehow bleed through three layers of primer. Had to rip it out entirely!
I couldn't stand TW on some of the earlier ICS roms I flashed coming from CM7. Then I flashed CM9 port with Nova launcher.
Very nice.

Yes. I think Nova and Apex are definitely better launchers than whatever the Touchwiz launcher is called. I've been enjoying AOKP while waiting for the ICS MIUI to catch up just a little more.
Yeah, Apex has worked very well for me. Very clean ICS launcher. It seems to run much lighter than TW. Gotta love the app/widget division too!

Yeah I like it it too.... But then again I like any launcher you can customize icons easily.
And IMO TW launcher and the AOSP look..... Both look like ass equally. Those are some real slick icons AOSP went with
killing is my business, and business is good.
I use AOKP with Go Launcher Ex and an ICS theme. Looks and feels great. I prefer GO Launcher to the ICS launchers i've tried. Some very nice widgets, and I love how easy it is to uninstall an app.

Does anyone know where I can get just the dock from the ICS leak so that i can use it with ADW EX or GOlauncher? or can someone point me in the right direction to get it for myself? I thnk it would be cool to have as a theme while the Devs work on making ICS stable.
Thanks

You couldn't use the true ICS dock anyway since it's compiled for a higher OS. Try using a themed screen as suggested above.
It would be awesome if we could port the ICS dock since it's since sense 3.5.
but i doubt it lol or else it would have been done.
I hope we can up-port rosie from GB to ICS. I HATE that new bottom bar. The 3 button sense bar is my favorite thing about sense.

Agreed...only reason I am hesitant about ICS...
What I meant was just take the stock ICS Sense dock bar as an image file, and use it in other launchers, does this explain it better...?

The stock ICS launcher is for all intents and purposes dock-less so I'm really struggling to see what it is you want. Or do you mean the Sense 3.6 dock because that dock looks just like ADW or LP or GoLauncher.
Well I thought the rest of the thread had already made it clear, but what myself and others are looking for is a image, to use as the background in third party launchers, that replicates the look of Sense 3.6.

Not trying to be offensive but that doesn't make any sense. Sense 3.6 looks just like ADW or LP except with the giant Sense clock widget. Maybe I'm really missing something here.

Yeah, all it is is a semi-transparent dock with Sense icons. That could easily be reproduced in any 3rd party launcher.
He wants someone to make a png of the dock in sense 3.6 that looks like this

I am looking for good laucher for my XS device. Can you guy help?
Lots to choose from mate. It's personal preference.
Nemus launcher, go launcher ex and ss launcher are 3 that get used a lot.
Sent from my XperiaS via transwarp conduit.
I've tried many and keep coming back to stock.
go ex is a little bit lag on XS, dont know why. i used it b4
im now using Nemus
Stock is fine .
Use it for xperia play , arc S and xperia S
tried go launcher , adw launcher and back to the earth :X
Nemus is actually pretty good...the stock was awesome, but I really like a scrollable dock
Currently using stock, I like it. Only wish workspaces had 5 rows

I have to chip in and say that the Xperia S is the first android phone that I've owned that I haven't used a 3rd party launcher because I really like the stock one.
I am really happy with the Sony launcher.

i'm my opinion it's the best choice
I have been on Launcher Pro and been pretty satisfied. But its totally a personal preferences.
I also tried lots of launcher. But end of the day I had to come back to stock. Stock is super smooth. No issues at all.
Stock is the best you will get well i think anyways. cant wait for ics i think we all will be loving it
Just hope Sony can do better with ICS then what HTC and samsung have done, so many issues with their phones since the ICS upgrades.
I'm very happy with the stock launcher as is, i also used modded versions of the ARC launcher on my previous devices below.

I'm using ADW Ex and finding it a lot smoother than stock, but then again I switched after about 10 minutes with stock so can't be sure. Stock was laggy for me when I first tried it though, and ADW is just smooth.

The problems i find with any 3rd party launcher is that things like the email and message notification does not then work on the icons. You only get the notification bar and i like to see how many unread there maybe on the icon itself.
As other members have said, it's all about personal preference. When I had my X10 Mini Pro, I tried tons of one launchers and Go Launcher Ex was easily the best for me. Even since having my Xperia S, I'm using the same and having no problems whatsoever.

Yep, personal taste, but I always come back to Go Launcher EX as well, no problems with it at all.

I've been through them all and Sony's stock I think is the best, the rest seem...dated, amateurish
I do wish the stock had the customization of other launchers but it's pro's outweighs its cons, and Sony widgets only work with it too, and they have good widgets

Does anyone know of a nice, classy weather widget that looks/ plays nice with ICS? I'm open to suggestions but most specifically I saw the Sense 4.0 weather/clock imitation but I don't know what it is/ who made it
Fancy Widgets, Beautiful Widgets and HD Widgets are some of the popular ones.
Beautiful widget is free on GetJar.
I use both 1weather and aix weather.
1weather has a classy looking widget which gives general details. Whereas aix gives an hourly overview of both temperature and rainfall which is surprisingly accurate.
Both free on the play store.

thanks so much everyone. I've seen beautiful widgets and the like ( HD widgets is new to me, looks nice though) There is just so much on the Play Store and other places is hard to find everything
Just to let everyone know in my personal experience HD widgets is not working. Everytime I drop the widget onto the homescreen it crashes. Trebuchet w/ CM9.
I am using HD widgets on AOKP (4.0.4) with Nova launcher and they work great. However I have read in another thread somewhere that it wasn't playing nice with CM9...but it could be launcher related...

I've been using Fancy Widgets since I had my captivate, and it's been awesome. Also, no problems since I've been on ICS. The only reason I haven't tried Beautiful Widgets is because I had already paid for the Fancy Widgets Unlocker, but they seem pretty similar.

I was asked about this on the general forum CM10 thread, not my work at all but just want to share the original 200+ page thread for those of you not aware. There are many derivatives of this add-on, but out of 10+ similar add-on's I have tried this one works most flawlessly. Launcher is 4x4 but as a result it works perfectly with accuweather widget. Even our own Note 2 is ditching the extra column and I like the bigger icons showing more icon detail on this over having more icons on the same screen.
Unlike any other package I have tried, this add-on when flashed with CWM morphs the actual system UI and core apps like dialer/MMS into S3 touchwiz look. It is also based on the new Jelly Bean leak so has speed and fluidity advantages. Just download 1.3.3 (last item on the download section) from mrmad.net, flash, wipe cache/dalvik and enjoy! CWM is required unfortunately to morph the system applications, without it you will just get launcher, widget and miss the dialer/UI tweaks. I tested this with quincyatt CM10 M2 and it works perfectly, and should work with all CM10 based ROMS (Paranoid, AOKP, etc). It has everything you need, just works and there is no messing with RWXX permissions!
Like many of you, I find Galaxy S3's nature UX to be a huge selling point. Note 1's gingerbread UI screamed "cheap iPhone copycat", but S3's touchwiz UX was so good that I would have stayed stock if Samsung treated their customers right and gave me the same visual treatment when they gave us the ICS upgrade. I love the new accuweather widget and I find it much better than any of the sense-inspired widgets I have tried, and I love the way they made Android feel warm, natural and inviting.

No, this is just a launcher. From what I know, those other apps require TW framework and other Libraries that arent in AOSP ROMs. It's a launcher like Nova or ADW. Only affects the homescreen and app drawer

I so totally agree. I don't know what they are thinking at HTC. To make matters worse, even the new Droid DNA with 1080p screen is 4 x 4. Insanity.
Solution is to run an alternate launcher. I use Nova. Downside is you lose Sense widgets. I have to run the Gapps Email instead of Sense Mail to get an email widget for Nova. Not the end of the world...
