I've made to the point of flashing Bamf Rezound Ics V2.0 on my only-hours-old Rezound and I've got a couple issues i can't figure out.
First, I cannot get any version of wifi tether to work. It LOOKS like it's working, but nothing find's it's signal.
Second, whenever I flash a kernel I get "main version older" in the bootloader update.
Not sure what I'm missing, but I could use some easy help.
There is a zip somewhere on xda that you flash prior to flashing the rom to nix the main version issue, makes it a really low number. Not sure about tethering, I don't use it.

What version of wifi tether? Also make sure you are using the app that comes up first when searching for wireless tether. Should look like this when opened:

It LOOKS like it's working. it says it's working. SU gives it permission, but NO signal anywhere.

Before going and flashing kernels, make sure they are ICS kernels. So it can be compatible with your rom. Also if you like BAMF, give Nilsp business sense Rom a try.

I'm the kind of geek who typically flashes a lot more kernels than ROMs. The problem I was having with flashing kernels was tied to the main version, which the .zip tool fixed. I flashed an older kernel (possibly GB/AOSP?) at first that basically soft bricked the phone, but reflashing the ROM fixes that easy enough. I was VERY close to going to Nils B-ICS because it had Wifi Tether built in and working, but the solution to my problem was in his "Added and Modded". Had to change the profile and check "Routing Fix" like his OP says.
So, the whole solution to my problem was flash the versionLOW.zip, then the ROM, then the kernel, then install Wifi Tether, change the profile, and check Route Fix. If I'd flashed Business Sense first, I probably wouldn't have had any of these issues, but I didn't.
The answers were there, but i just didn't read enough to know what the tools I was looking at were for.
As always, it's great to be at XDA.

Any way I could get a fix for low audio volume or proximity issue out of these? That'd be sweet!!! Thanks...

downloaded build 3 no problem, tried to flash it after wiping cache and davlik and was rewarded with a nasty bootloop. hmmmm. So i reflashed 7/17 cm7 then downloaded #2 and flashed it, no problems then #3 flashed fine. Be forewarned it totally wiped my data dunno if it was the bootloop or if the nightlies do that. So make sure you flash #2 first!! Also it wiped my Glitch kernel and installed some dirty wolverine one. Will install all my apps and test drive it.

Wiped cache and installed #3 just fine, no data loss. And yes it will overwrite your glitch kernel with the included one. Just reflash whatever kernel you want, but beware it may bork something if the fix is the kernel.

Hi everyone. I have been having this wifi issue where I can't get the wifi radio to turn on. I've went into the service menu and took some shots of what my configurations look like.
Can anyone tell me if the settings look odd or if something isn't the way it's supposed to be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, actually, as far as I know the phone has only been unlocked without rooting or flashing.
I've bought it second hand. So that's the information that I am aware of.
Go into settings, about phone and if you have DooMkernel in kernel version you have to flash the coresponding wifi module. It's better if you can take a picture of the phone in that menu so we can figure out what wifi module you need.

Hi, I've taken a photo of the kernel version. Also took another one of the status menu.
Thanks for helping me out
I can see that you don't have a custom kernel on your phone. I really don't know what is the problem. When you activate the wifi is the phone searching for an wifi network or is it return an error message?
Wifi MAC and bluetooth MAC addresses are not available. Try repairing ROM via SEUS, because that is most definitely your problem. Unsure if my solution will fix it.

I'm not really familiar with flashing. Is it like overwriting the original OS with an open source one? Is there a chance of bricking my phone?
Just curious if anybody else had there stop working last night . Mine will come on and show that its up and running but when I go to hook up its not on my list of available networks? And no it's not my laptop, I also checked with my OG Droid and it doesnt see it either. I have tried reinstalling and Iget the same result .
Thank god for the new cwm Tether app. It would be no internet for without it . Any help would be appreciated .

Which rom? Wifi and Wired stopped working for me after Fryo. Gingerbread 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 both give me some kernal unsupported error.
Ive never been able to get it to work either. My laptop wont connect to the network.
Sent from my Eclipsed and ICS themed X2.
Eclipse ROM 2.0.3, 2.3.5 based. The kernel error can be ignored, I get the same error, access control is unsupported with our kernel.
Be sure that WiFi Tether has ROOT access. It only works with rooted phones.
I have mine set up like this:
Device Profile: Auto
Setup Method: Auto
WiFi Encryption: Enabled
Encryption Setup Method: Auto
I have a passphrase set, changed my SSID, wireless channel is default, Don't disable Bluetooth is checked.
Enable access control is greyed out. It is unsupported by our kernel which is why we get the error.
I do not have automatic shutdown checked. Idle time is greyed out until you select automatic shutdown.
Preferred and alternate DNS are default, as is the rest of the settings dialog.
I tried just before and my laptop or tablet connected but wasn't loading any pages. I know it worked when I had liberty 2.3.4, man looks like I have to go back to 2.3.4. I tried both wifi tether app and the hot spot.
All I can say is try this:
Go into settings...applications...all...let it load, scroll to WiFi Tether. Force stop if it is running, clear cache and data. Uninstall it, then re-install the latest version.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
I am currently using my laptop tethered to my Droid X2 running Eclipse 2.0.3. Download 1.43Mbps, upload 0.94Mbps.
Make sure you have root. If you are on Eclipse ROM, then you do.
EDIT: I may have found your problem. When you upgraded to the latest version of WiFi Tether, did you uninstall the old one first? I upgraded right after I posted this, and then experienced the same issues as you. It also shut down my WiFi and Bluetooth when I uninstalled it. I rebooted, but the phone rebooted itself after about 30 seconds, so when I got back into the phone I quickly booted into BSR, cleared cache/dalvik, rebooted, reinstalled the latest, and now it is working again with no issues.

Good to hear! Thanks for the reply.
Holy crap, I fixed something!
Used DoomLord? root and UNroot last night. Worked great both ways on a Samsung Exhibit II. Re ran and rooted my phone then installed the latest beta 11 version. Could not get it to shut down. Selecting stop gave no errors but app would not stop transmitting. Uninstalled and installed 2.0.7. No more problems. Works great. Also installed it on a Samsung Transform Ultra with no problems.
I have just rooted by galaxy s2 using cf root and odin 1.85.
my current firmware is XWKI4, reading through post particularly rooting methds (sroot and cf root), peopple are advised to download firmware which closes matches that of the stock rom, is this correct?
does it matter what kerner (or firmware) the custom rom comes with or does the curtom rom for me has to be xwkI4?
also, phones for my wife so list of most stable rom would be appricated.

No you are fine...You are rooted now so this is were the fun begins. Download a rom that you like and make sure you use recovery to flash it. Before you flash a rom make sure you make a backup of the current one you are on and make sure you back up your applications using Titanium backup. Then go ahead and flash a rom of your choice. Most roms always have a guide in the first page of their thread. Read it carefully and if you have to read it like ten times do so..That way you get a better understanding and at least you know what you are flashing.
Rom there are so many to choose from..Either Checkrom V4 that has a kitchen app or Foxhound. Also if you go in the Android development there are so many other roms there that you can flash...But like i said backup and do your reading first..Happy flashing
thanks for the quick response
I was thinking of trying checkrom or villianrom

Both roms are great. Try them both my friend you are not losing anything..That is the great thing about flashing roms..Try both for a few days and take it from there.
hello,
Well your phone is rooted now, so try what ever rom you like!
Look for the rom that's Best rated (4 or 5 stars).
If you want to stay on ginger, then what you mentioned are good amongst others.
If you like the iPhone look, then Try also the Miui ginger roms, DT Miui ginger is good).
Now if you like to go ICS then I recommandé you the Wanamlite (version 7.2 now), but put in mind that ICS is in 4.0.3 LP2 beta version, therfore still facing some problemes Yet. But it is worth to try.
One big advice though : in All cases, do your backup before, then wipe every thing from the reboot recovery CWM.
I hope this helps.
Best rom for you is the one you test yourself & decide works great for you. A Rom/kernel that works well for me might not work well for you (phone components slightly different, different phone setup, different usage).
Make sure you back up your EFS as well. Best way is with k-tool

It's displayed alongside each thread/ROM in the Development forums. Not sure I'd set too great a store by those though. CheckROM is very reliable.
I wouldn't go anywhere near ICS for your wife - very high maintenance. (The ROM, that is, never met your wife...)

Hello, I searched for my problem in both Google and these forums, with no success, but I apologize if I've missed something.
I was trying to experiment with nandroid backup to try to flash another ROM. First I used ROM Manager to update to the current version of CWM, then I rebooted into recovery, made a backup, then did a factory wipe. When the phone rebooted, the mobile data did not work. It will not work no matter what I try (factory reset, restore to previous backup, install latest cm nightly). I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance. Here's my phone info:
