Hi all,
I am trying to update my phone to a new firmware using odin. I am following the instructions in this thread. However after odin has done its thing, it displays "PASS!", my phone reboots but then hangs on the boot animation. I have left it for about 20 mins and tried reflashing the rom with no luck.
I have also tried another firmware, but its gets stuck in a half bootloop (repeating the boot animation)
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can fix it?
Thanks
Aaron
Boot to recovery and wipe cache see if that works, if it still bootloops you'll need to boot to recovery and do a factory reset.
I booted into recovery and wiped everything, and it works now.
Thanks

Hey guys, first off this is not a thread to ask for how to get out of a boot loop, so don't flame me before reading it.
I've been running various Stock roms, KG2/KI3/KJ2 which are all flashed through Odin and work fine, but I can't seem to flash ANY roms at all using CWM, I've tried wiping the cache and wiping user data before flashing but everytime I use CWM to flash my phone gets stuck in a boot loop, tried various roms and they all get stuck in boot loop which I have to use Odin to fix and root so I can get CWM again, but out of the 5 or so roms I've flashed with CWM they all seem to put the phone into a boot loop. Anyone have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
I know how to fix the boot loop, what I want to know is how the heck do I get roms to run when flashed using CWM. I've used CWM on numerous other android devices and I'm pretty sure I'm flashing it right (clear user data, clear cache, install zip from sdcard). I mean its not rocket science. Would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.
Have you tried flashing it twice in a row, without reboot in-between?
That I haven't tried. I'll give it a try. Cause nothing seems to be working.
Ok, just tried double flashing without rebooting and it still does the boot loop.
I've had my Samsung Galaxy S Showcase (tracphone) for awhile now and decided to root it. For some dumb reason I flashed a custom ROM onto it.
I had no problems until I downloaded Boot Animation. I selected a custom boot animation, rebooted my phone, and it loops at the animation forever.
I tried to restore using CWM and get the message "MD5 mismatch!"
I tried a factory reset, it errors every step of the way, then says data wipe complete. I reboot and it just keeps looping at the new boot animation.
I tried wiping the cashe, and formatting everything to re-instal the ROM. I select the ROM. it starts to install, resets the phone like it did the first time, but instead of going back to CWM to finish installing, it loads to the boot animation and loops.
I'm very new at this so I don't know what info you would need to help me out if at all possible. and if its impossible at least tell me that I'm royally clucked so I don't spend the rest of my life wondering =)
you can try to flash stock with odin there will be many threads and tutorials about it on the forums
Thanks for the suggestion, but I gave it to my friend who thinks he knows everything and he somehow turned it into a Samsung Mezmerize. Now a question about that. If I try and root it do I put CWM on it as a Samsung Mesmerize? I'm just very confused about everything now, do I treat it and everything I do to it as a Mesmerize?
Hey guys.
So the phone had this problem where it was stuck on the samsung Logo, so i flashed a complete stock Jellybean build (all correct and stuff, not a beginner ), also wiped data from recov just in case
Now heres the problem...
when the phone boots up, it goes through the first time "Optimizing Apps", but once it reaches a certain number, ittl reboot the phone then start going through it again and again.
Anyway i could somehow make the phone actually boot? Any help?
Thanks in advance
If you can enter recovery, do the wipes and a factory reset, then try to boot.
If you're in the same situation, flash the stock JB update using Odin and a pc. That will wipe your phone. Then flash TWRP for your recovery using Odin and a pc.
You will need to have the correct type of file for Odin.
My GS2 (Model SGH-S959G) is stuck on boot loop and I have tried factory data reset. It started to reset as usual then started right back into boot loop. It now just says 'deleting cryption meta data' when I attempt to go into factory data reset mode and then starts to boot loop all over. I also have the stock firmware for it on my computer and attempted to install it with Odin as per instruction I actually found on this forum (which is why I'm here asking this question ) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982571. I followed the directions for flashing the factory firmware as listed. Odin read the install was a success and gave me the green PASS, however the phone went right back to boot loop. How can I fix this?
Thanks for your help in advance! I've been trying to figure this out all day :/

Go to recovery and And do wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache and wait for 3-5mins.

OP - I've asked mods to move your thread to the right section.
Hi I have a SM-N910F model which is proving extremely difficult to flash. I firstly flashed the latest Marshmallow UK BTU firmware on it which resulted in a boot loop. I cleared cache partition and wiped data/factory reset in the stock recovery (and TWRM recovery) but this did not fix the problem. So I flashed the phone again and this time it was stuck in a boot loop with the text "recovering booting..." at the top left. Tried the same as before and still didnt fix it.
So I then tried a different stock rom - Lollipop UK BTU firmware. This gave me the exact same problems as before. However on a few occasions, I also got an error on the recovery screen saying cache could not be mounted. I cleared the cache partition, tried reformatting cache using TWRM but none of this worked. Eventually I reflashed and it went away but the boot loop doesnt go.
Lastly I tried an even older firmware - Kitkat UK BTU firmware. This again gave me a boot loop problem. It also kept displaying the cannot mount cache error as well. I tried using PIT file to repartition the device and eventually the error went but the device would still be on boot loop. However on two occasions the phone did go past the Samsung logo and show the first setup screen (where you select initial settings like Wifi etc). After like 10-15 seconds it would just switch off and then go back into boot loop. I havent managed to get to the first setup screen again.
I have tried flashing with various different Odin versions but still no luck.
I feel like I have exhausted my options and not sure what to do. Do you think I should try a custom rom? If so, for the sake of getting it to start, which is a good lightweight rom?
Does anyone know what I can do to make these infinite boot loops and/or "cannot mount cache" error go away?
Anyone? I could really do with some help..
I think you have problem with motherboard, try to find original stock frimeware, by country. If not help try custom rom. I suggest any AOSP rom such as Lineage OS or CM.
Tried 3 different stock roms. Like I said it will either be in a boot loop, recovery loop, or give an cache mounting error. Im hoping that the motherboard is not faulty because it is not always the same problem
Hi , I think is because You have FRP (Factory Reset Protection) On which means you can't flash property your phone .
What U can try is to extract recovery.img from latest stock firmware for your Region .
Now use this script to transform recovery.img to recovery.tar.md5
here is how to do :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269
Put your phone in download mode click on AP: and choose recovery.tar.md5
After that click on Start .
If the flashing was OK , put again your phone in Download mode and flash completely the same firmware with original recovery.img inside it.
Good Luck
One guy from forums.androidcentral.com posted it work on sm-n910t, Android 6.0.1 .
