WIND WIND.zip for 1.46.1500.3 (WIND users only!)
T-Mobile TMOB.zip for 1.43.531.3 (T-Mobile users only!)
Bullet Proof BP.zip for Bullet Proof ROM
FAQ:
------------------------------------------------------------
Can I flash this via recovery? No, extract the build.prop and push it to system and set to 644
Why do I see no data speed increase? This only unlocks the full HSPA+ performances on the phone, actual speed is still limited to the provider's cellphone tower types
To use this, rename your current build.prop and past the one in the zip to system, change the permissions to 644 and reboot.
Change log: 04/14/2012:
removed hep option (I think this is killing battery, not sure)
added modified Bullet Proof version of build.prop, should be ok for the mail problem
Change log: 04/05/2012:
added T-Mobile version
re-enabled ro.ril.disable.power.collapse
removed the default home operator stuff (did not make a difference)
ro.telephony.default_network set to 2 so the network type setting sticks (only on wind version)
added ro.ril.hep = 1
added ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
added pm.sleep_mode=1
added windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
added video.accelerate.hw=1
added debug.performance.tuning=1
Change log: 04/03/2012:
Added to default to home operator "WIND Home" and the numeric IDs for gsm and cdma configs
WiFi Scan interval to 300s (save battery)
heapsize to 128MB
debug.composition.type from c2d to gpu (home screen seems to be much smoother)
Tweaked the HSPA configs (I can't see much change, probably because I am far in the boonies)
Enabled "Dual Transfer Mode"
Enabled ro.ril.enable.sdr (unsure what it is, but just testing it)
Post your test results, recommendations etc.
Can you tweak the tmobile one also?
Not sure about wind, but tmobileUS has (the top 4 lines in screenshot),.when edited, increase data speeds... Mine should be edited already, but as I looked at them while uploading, those numbers look stock (may explain my 15 mb/s speed vs my 25 mb/s speed )... I will have to doube check.
Also, any way to edit this to completely kill the capacitive lights so they won't come on after reboot?

I would prefer to work directly from a stock one (need to source one some how). And no, this will not be able to disable the button lights, you need to do them in the init.post_boot.sh file under etc
Can someone provide a completely unmodified build.prop?
Mine is stock... I verified with the modified build prop faster speeds thread...
http://db.tt/MlsimcFo
Also... That's not stock stock... I haven't edited it, but I am on a Rooted Rom... Idk if NRGZ made any changes in his ROM
Thanks
PS... Here's the thread with some build.prop edit suggestions for faster data speeds. I can confirm it works.

Yours is definitely modified, I see that it has custom names in the namespaces at the bottom.
I did put those values in the build prop, but I dont see much changes on my side. then again, it is probably my provider or my location
How are speeds on this?? I usually get awful speeds from WIND in my neighbourhood, wondering if this'll fix that.

This only sets to allow maximum speed the HSPA on Amaze 4G can support, so far, I have not seen any improvement, probably won't until WIND rolls out better HSPA or "4G"

Do you see improvement before and after applying my build.prop in your downtown area? Or has it always been that way?

I apologize for thread jacking with this question, but what would you put in this file, I am asking here, rather than via PM because I think others might like to know... you could make a new thread if you prefer... thanks!
edit: ok did a little digging, would this work?
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system
chmod 777 /sys/devices/platform/leds-pm8058/leds/button-backlight/brightness
echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/leds-pm8058/leds/button-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/devices/platform/leds-pm8058/leds/button-backlight/brightness
mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system
edit2: confirmed, the above works, just edited the file (init.post_boot.sh) and adb pushed it, then rebooted... nice, no more bleed!

And for you Wind users, I am on the Energy ROM and I can't send MMS for some reason, keeps failing. Although the other day I did receive one from another Wind user, but missed them from Rogers customers.. My APN for MMS matches exactly what its supposed to be.

It should, simple mobile runs on tmobiles network
The t-mobile one works very well for me. I went from a constant 18-20Mb to over 23Mb/s.

Nice speeds, but usually they are depended on traffic. Don't get your hopes up!

Hello
As from this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760805 we (Galaxy 9000-users) want to change our density..
So the big question is, what value do YOU (dell streak users) have in the build.prop for the density?
So is your density sth different as 240? And if this is different, can you post the value and test some apps for me?
For example, the app "shoot u" or "robo defense" or "Paper Toos" (free app) are all small screen at my device (so not the full screen) when i change density to 200!
Best regards
dpi? its not set in build.prop on streak, it is in the config its set at 160dpi...
There is no line, containing this:

And what about Paper Toss and the other apps? Do you have fullscreen or smaller?

No,
there is no density set in build.prop, it is set in the kernel I think (but we don't have source code) using config
papertoss is small screen..

Ok, when papertoss is small screen for you, then it is not our firmware´s fault
At least a little satisfaction, that not just samsung users have smallscreen apps
I hope the app-developers will fix this soon or android gets some "auto-resize" like iPad or also the iPhone4G (which has higher resolution as 3GS).

from my limited understanding android apps should be resolution aware, and should scale.
there's a couple of others such as atakephone that struggle on the streak.
Yeah many apps and games like pulse reader or galcon are resizing..
So it must be the devs fault!
I dont know how this works on iPhone4 because, the 3GS has 320-by-480 and 163 ppi, but the v4 has 960-by-640-pixel and 326 ppi..
So either the apps are resizing (good for devs) or the iphone4 is resizing them...
On the iPad you have a "resize" button to make iPhone Apps bigger, but this isnt very smooth..
The new higher resolution is hard coded in the apps. The devs must update them to support the resolution. Old ones just scale up. They use 4 pixels instead of 1.
their is an lcd_density line in build prop ive seen it,and yes its 160

There's not in the 2.1 on my streak. If I could upload from the streak it I would to prove it. but uploads are bloody disabled by default! And I'm not near a Pc
Grrr
Anyone know how to enable uploads? I've tried every browser
Lcd.density is in /proc/config.gz for me...
I forgot that the one from above was from the 6xxx _2.1 build.prop
attached is the latest 7xxx 2.1 build.prop and also the build.prop from 4339 1.6
I can't see any reference to density in either of them
the following is the build.prop from my Motorola electrify(rebadged photon) and it contains many "vzw" things. i know i am roaming off Verizon towers but y so many vzws throughout my build.prop? ...... and OK why i mainly posted this, i am border coverage for us cellular's home network. so i switch back and fourth between Verizon towers(perfect signal) and us cellular(1x and no bars and eventually goes to(no service for about 5 minutes or so)... when it switches to us cellular moist of the time i have to turn phone off and restart in order to regain service(verizon). can anyone help? our do i need to be modding something besides build. prop?

From what I know the build prop has nothing to do with selection of networks. It's the PRL (preferred roaming list) that tells the phone what networks to go on to. Currently forced roaming does not work for the electrify so basically there's nothing you can do unless you modify or change your PRL.

Power off the wi fi for 20 secs. Then put the device on as long as possible screen timeout. Put it very close to the router. On every 5 mins tap the screen from preventing it from sleep
try out "wifi fixer" from the market, it's free and very good.

what router do you have? that could be the problem and not the phone, the router could be dropping the packets as the phone is downloading too much data so the router will kill the connection. If you can log into the router check the settings for wifi make sure you using WPA2 personal mixed AES then change the settings on the phone also. WEP is bad for dropping out signal

My router TPlink tl-wr740n. I have this problem with all other routers, so this is not router problem its phone Hardware/Software isue ;/
Before releasing a new ROM that I have been working on I thought I would share the build.prop file that it uses. I felt that it might generate some useful discussion. If that discussion leads to problems fixed or performance gained (in any ROM) then that would be splendid.
It is likely that many of the settings in fact do nothing -- it is really not practical to test them all. I am, however, concerned about settings that users feel introduce problems and/or degrade performance.
I tried to make it human readable, however that comes at the cost of easy diffing with your current file.

The above build.prop has been tested successfully for approximately one week with the bet-you-cannot-guess-the-name ROM that I have been working on. I have NOT tested with any existing ROMs.
Hive?
Anyways, I can't say I know what even half of the lines in the build.prop do, but if it works for you, I'd imagine anyone who still has their Jetstreams would be happy with whatever you come up with.

The above build.prop has been tested successfully for approximately one week with the bet-you-cannot-guess-the-name ROM that I have been working on. I have NOT tested with any existing ROMs.

I'm glad to hear it. The biggest detail is that it is deSensed -- with the exception of the lock screen and camera/camcorder. Even the setup wizard is vanilla Android. Not everyone will like this fact, but there are other ROMs available for folks that need HTC Sense.
I've bundled a few recommended apps, but even with them your app drawer will be less than one page. There are fewer services running and less stuff cluttering your share menus. Less is more -- in my opinion.
It will come with different sounds, newer fonts, updated standard apps and updated tools. You won't have to update much after installing -- at least for the next while. I've also bundled a different gallery, but the integration isn't perfect. Third party camera and camcorder apps should work a little better than with other Jetstream ROMs.
There are a few more details, but those are the biggest details. I'll have a very comprehensive changelog for those that are interested.
It is all packaged up in an AROMA installer that I hope gets new users interested in trying ROMs. I'll shoot the third video in my stock-to-custom-ROM series after I release Hive.
It is still Honeycomb 3.1, but I might try to get 3.2 working in the future. Beyond that is nearly impossible without HTC help.

Thanks for the update man. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi,
I recently become a proud (¿?) owner of a M4 aqua dual (E2363). I'm almost happy with the unit (because I got one with 16Gb), but I find that the GPS performs really bad. It is not specially slow to lock, but it is very prone to loose the GPS signal and start locking again, specially when moving fast (i.e. in the car). Also the tracking is irregular, so when I go out running the program (runtastic) keeps giving annoying messages about falling in and out of the target pace.
Has anybody had similar problems?
the content of gps.conf is below, and I wonder if there is somtehing there that can be improved for my region (I'm in Chile, Southamerica). I haven't edited anything because I haven't (yet) rooted my phone.
Or is it just that the GPS antenna is weak or defective?.

I have exactly the same issues with the m4 dual. Also looking for a solution. The usual GPS apps which download the latest AGPS data didn't help. I'm not sure wether this is due to crappy hardware or something is not right with the stock Rom
Edit: I looked into the gps.conf you provided and it seems that the wrong time server is set. They set it to some test server. Maybe that's the issue?
Any news on that?
I have not found a solution yet. I changed the NTP server to south-america.pool.ntp.org and cl.pool.ntp.org, and obtained a moderate improvement. Sometimes it fixes faster, but the overall tracking of a run is still full of jumps. There are some running apps that perform worse than others, but the best I have tried (runkeeper) still gives me a very 'jumpy' record of instantaneous speed.
From time to time I try to tweak some setting in gps.conf, but always one at a time!!
I may be wrong, but my gut feeling is that this is a mixture of several factors: bad GPS antenna, slow CPU performance (that make the calculations to be offset when I'm moving), and lack of GLONASS coverage in the place where I live. (by the end of may I'm travelling to Europe for a few days; I will check if I have better luck tracking a run there)
Remove the hashes in the xtra servers lines
The hashes make to system ignore the commands, and without xtra data agps will never help
In the last update (.111) on single sim version, gps works worst than on. 167 build, so i can recommend to try different versions of firmware and make always this edits on gps.conf
