Hi,
I have CWM 5.0.2.0
The back-up of my previous ROM is on my sdcard, and so are the files for the new ROM, but I currently have no ROM installed because I wiped, and I cannot access my SD card to restore/install a new one. The card has always read fine before, but now it just doesn't read. My computer recognizes the SD card, but not my phone. It is formatted as FAT32.
I was trying to install Noattachrix's ROM and previously had Neutrino 2.6 EE. I copied the files onto my SD card from my computer, and then I put the SD card in, went into recovery, wiped data cache and dalvik cache, and then I selected "install zip from SD card" and then "choose zip from sdcard" and it says "E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

I've got the same problem. You have to flash sbf with 2.3.4, copy rom (zip file) to internal memory, unlock bootloader, flash recovery and flash zip

could u clarify for me plz? my sdcard has been working fine for quite some time, recently flashed nottachtrix4g through romracers recovery, and then decided I didn't like the theme, so I reflashed it, that was the last time I got the sdcard to work, now anytime I try to check the sdcard through computer or just on phone it acts like there isnt one there, but when I connect via the computer, it shows external storage but its in the state previous to setting the usb mode to storage, however when I do set usb mode to storage, I can access the internal memory, but the sd card remains in that external storage mode that I cant access, any suggestions?
edit: it appears my sdcard is either corrupt or doesn't work anymore, swapping for another sdcard it worked immediately, I need an sdcard reader in order to format it

When I boot up into recovery, I can never get my external sd card to mount properly. I can select it but it just goes back to the internal sd card directory as if there's nothing there. I had this issue on my Infuse as well but that had the stock Samsung 2GB sd card in it, I've got an 8GB card now from Patriot. I've formatted it with SDFormatter with no luck.
Does CWM simply not allow you to load your recovery (nandroid) backup files from the external, or ROM installation files, etc.?
Bump... me neither!

I figured out my issue after the fact and forgot about this thread.
I kept thinking that I needed to mount the /emmc to load a .zip but I found out that when I go to load a file, I needed to pick 'choose zip from internal sdcard' at the bottom which actually is not the internal card, but the external sdcard. Yeah that confused me. I can now get into it that way, hopefully you can too.
Also, make sure you only use the Home and Back Arrow softkeys to navigate CWM as this was causing me some issues using the Power key like I was used to.
After a drop down, my phone started to beep and charge itself without connecting to charger or USB. Usb couldn't recognize it as USB2 device, so I'we done a factory reset, every thing was ok but CWR can't see my sdcard.
I tried, stock rom, custom roms, repartition, format, kernels, older cwr, nothing, so I'am stuck with odin.
Can u help me, pls.
RESOLVED. - clean flash new stock rom
Can your phone when on see the SD card? If it can, and you're just wanting to flash .zip files from CWM recovery, why not put them on the internal storage?
I can acces my internal storage, with file managers but not in cwr, he can't find any files or folders on my internal (USB) storage.
Im sure cwm doesnt read external sd card

I have no external sd, this is about internal storage card, what is not recognized by cwr
So why did you say can't acces my sdcard?
Are you sure you're using CWM recovery correctly? For example, Apply update from .zip file on SD card --> choose zip from internal sdcard.
Note, I said choose zip from internal sdcard (5th option), not "choose zip from sdcard".
You are right the new CWR has separated options.....
Meanwhile a got it, after installing new Sijah
Can u install rom to external or set it to instal apps directly to external sd?
I have no idea what you're asking, but didn't you just say you don't have an external SD anyway?
With my old (broken) rom, i couldn't acces my internal storage with cwr, the new cwr 5 has separated storages as you mentioned,
Now i reflashed clompletly my sgs and i can see all my files and install .zip. so i resolved, it.
But hey thanks for underlineing the new options in cwr.
Hi
Since quite a while now, I don't have any way to access my External SD Card on my phone.
I just installed latest Slim Bean and problem remains, nothing is mounted, even under CWM it can't mount /sdcard
My card is working well in my friend GS2 so I don't really understand what s happening. ANy idea how to fix this ?
Cheers !
I suggest you save the contents of the sdcard to your computer and then reformat the card through your phone, it might then be recognized by the phone.
If it is recognized simply copy back the contents from your computer.

The card isn't shown anywhere in the phone . I can't erase it from the phone so !
I did not say erase. reboot into cwm recovery - mounts and storage and format ext sdcard.
use the adapter that came with your sdcard to copy to computer.
If it is not recognized in recovery, there is a problem with your rom.

I can't mount the card under CWM ... but card works on my friend S2
I've been having no trouble with flashing roms from my external sd card. I'm looking to completely wipe my phone (internal and external sd cards) to get a fresh install. I formatted my external sd card (via the phone). I then connected it to my PC, copied over my rom and a wipe tool no problem. My phone reads the SD card fine when it's booted up, can see the rom i've copied over.
When I re-boot into recovery mode with CWM-based Recovery (v6.0.1.4 - siyah), it says "E:can't mount/external_sd/" when I try to find my rom to flash.
I'm wondering if the problem is the siyah thing, it's not the kernal i'm using, if was installed on my phone with a rom I no longer use. That said, it wasn't an issue before I formatted my external SD card.
I've just updated CWM to ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.3.2 which has got rid of the Siyah version. I've also formatted the SD card again as i've read that formatting via the phone changes the file format to something cwm doesn't like. I did it via PC, it's formatted at exfat. Still made no difference, CWM won't read it.
Might be a silly question but did you go into "mounts and storage" I. Cwm and check the external sd card is mounted?

I have tried that. It didn't work, it would give the same error. I have managed to get it to be read in CWM, I downloaded the ROM manager tool, used that to put a partition on the SD card. Then I was able to format the card via CWM. I've not had a chance to put my ROM back on the SD card and retry. One thing is, when I booted up the phone after formatting the card in CWM, the phone shows it as blank or has an unsupported file system, saying it needs to be formatted. I wonder why there is a conflict?
I needed to format the sd card on my pc, it needed to be fat32. All sorted now

If you really want exFAT, try Philz recovery linked in my signature. It is CWM but with loads of great extra features (including exFAT support).
I actually thought that exFAT support meant it can format in exFAT. I find it odd that exFAT is the native format that Samsung uses but CWM doesn't support it.
Personally I use FAT32 myself as my main computer is Linux and exFAT is too microsofty for it to recognise.
I've installed that and re-formatted my SD card into whatever Samsung uses (think it's exfat) as fat32 was making windows explorer slow and crash prone
sup guys am having a problem with my samsung galaxy s3,via E:can't something related to mount format.............i mount for mated ,anyone who know how i can fix it?
Hi,
I messed up with the Android software, i installed chainfire app from the Play store and tried running it, After it ran the phone rebooted and got stuck in Welcome screen, I did soft reset by pulling out the battery for 10 mins , but it didnt help.
Now the thing is i dont want to lose my sensitive data. P.s I can enter into CWM recovery mode and also my phone is rooted with Omega ROM 4.1.2. I can see the file structure of my internal SDcard through the install from Internal SDcard Menu, But when i go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the SDcard it says there is an error mounting SDcard, I want to take backup of my folders before preforming a hard reset
I tried fetching files through ADB Shell installed on my PC, But it didnt help , I can see all the folders including SDcard and SDcard1, but both folders are empty without any data, i am sure since i was not able to mount the SDcard it was displaying empty folder. But my question is im able to explore all the folders in my internal SD in recovery mode through the "Install from Internal SDcard menu"
Is there any way to recover the files ?....The only way i can think of is to transfer the Same ROM zip file to Ext SD Card and perform the installation of ROM from recovery mode and again my doubt is will it affect the data on my internal SD card
Is there any way to backup my files from SDcard to PC.

Ok.....My question is why i am not able to mount my Internal SD card in recovery mode and take a backup through ADB in PC.
Is it that CWM doesnt support mounting the Internal SD card...has anyone tried mounting the internal SD card in recovery mode.

when there is no data loss, why backing up via pc again? when you flash rom.zip through ext sd card, the system boots normally into OS. then you may backup the data to pc and perform hard reset as you wish.
