which kernel is better for sk17i?
Isn't Krshh v3 only for 4.0+?
Both kernels work fine, your own choice which you prefer.
Functions difference is really small, both are based on DooMLoRD's stuff.
Only noticable difference is Under Voltage, which KRsH kernel have.
BUT, Rage kernel is little bit more stable, due to small changes included in it.
KrSH Kernel perfectly works with USB OTG Devices, can not be said about Rage. But Rage is more stable and updates occur more frequently. Battery life is almost the same in both. My choice - KrSH. Everyone chooses a more appropriate for him, there is no BEST kernel at all

Rage also had uv option, can be configure via setxperia.
Only Kamarush I love it

I'm currently using Gingerlol 1.5.
But this is no longer developed.
Now I'm looking for an active, stable 2.3.x mod without any bugs.
It should have low battery drain and I don't care very much about gaming performance.
When I browse the dev subforum I find either outdated mods or mods
which have serious bugs (like no fm-radio, broken cam/video, blackscreen bug, battery drain, etc).
Did I overlook something or are my wishes currently just not possible?
Any recommendations?

I'm using mik_os' CyanogenMod 7 port and it's workin well

The best rom for gaming is Blackbird RC2
mik-os rom still has a bit of lag, noticible in nfs shift, but blackbird has new kernel with no lag AT ALL
Use AGA Rom

did you even read the first post? the OP says he doesnt care much for gaming performance and does not want any bugs. blackbird has the following bugs: broken zoom, cannot recognize contacts on sim card, no autofocus
@sirob71, i also recommend miks cm7 port (specifically 6.5.8 which is more stable than 6.6.1)

Use OpenOptimus build 2.xxx by ciaox and with it use francos GB kernels or paulos vtouch kernel.
Amazing battery life and less cpu drain.
If ur looking for something in the intermediate i suggest going for phoenix/void/mik's cm7/aosp ROMs.
CyanogenMod has many technical features that other roms lack, but I must admit that the CyanogenMod Settings menu is very useful. There are multiple kernels which make the ROM completely stable. I'd also recommend a few tweaks (I've uploaded a flashable zip as well as a fixed zip GPS fix installer (version 3.0) that should now work on any recovery). Please note that the tweaks mount /system as rw on boot.
What you want is the good old void forever + fserve kernel
With those 2 you get the battery life with good performance as well, and you only have what you need in your room without all the crap people put in their custom rooms.
Seems that oxygen 2.3.7 port is what I'm looking for.
Will give it a try!
i am trying to find the best kernel for cm7 stable. i would prefer not to have BLN..
I want speed but i do want fair battery. if such a thing with these roms exists.
From my experience the neo platypus kernels worked great for me and after around 9hrs I'm usually at 40% with moderate use... 50 texts, some web browsing, and playing games.... Also the glitch kernel is the same I couldn't find a difference and I used both for a month... people say that Bali kernel is good on battery but I don't like it cause it can't oc as high as glitch and neo and it seemed less responsive... And finally the streamline kernel isn't bad but again just like Bali it has a reputation that makes people believe they'll get 24hrs of use off of it but I highly recommend neo r18 or the other latest kernel neo xx I used both
There are so many kernels out there which claim better battery life and performance, but which ones have you guys found to be the best?

I prefer Siyah. Not only has the dev been around for quite some time but the kernels are usually well-balanced and feature-rich.
Usually the kernel's power tweaks are only a small part of how the phone operates, getting rid of bloatware and "bad" apps such as Facebook or Skype is usually far more effective.
Depends,if u want a rock solid kernel with no additional features like UV/oc then go for speedmod,if u want great overall kernel with great sound improvement then go for siyah or franco.
Persius by andreilux is also a great kernel.
my personal favorite is siyah or speedmod
Edit:if u go for siyah then remember to download EXTWEAKS from market. To control kernel features
Stock kernel.

I personally prefer siyah because of the extweaks app. Other kernels show all these amazing features but I havent got the time to open a terminal and type out a load of "stuff" for that reason alone siyah is the best in my books
Just wondering what kernels people are running on NOS m7 v2.0.3 it comes with the stock kernel. From reading thread it seems like a lot of people are using Beastmode kernel and a few people are using crpalmer kernel. Any advantages of one over the other? Will one work better than the other?

Beastmode is faster IMO, benchmarks higher, overclocks to 1.9, has more options, it also has sweep2wake and the flashy button thingy, and USB drives mount automatically without a third party app. It doesn't have the best battery life but it's not bad either. It seems to get unstable for me when I put the lowest frequency at 192 mhz.
Crpalmers kernel is more of the opposite approach. Reliability, battery life, and improving upon all the faults of htc's stock kernel. The battery life is pretty unreal ppb this kernel. It's completely stable at any frequency with any governor. It doesn't have any extra frills though like sweep2wake or extreme overclocking.
Both of them are excellent kernels it's really just personal taste. I would recommend trying both for a few days and seeing which you prefer.

Yeah I have been on crpalmer's for a couple days and so far have thought has done great. Not really into overclocking on my phone since I don't really using it for gaming or anything CPU intensive right now. Thanks for the input.
Hey, I have my Galaxy note 2 on stock rom, 4.1.2. Odexed
I was wondering which is the best kernel that supports swaping external memory on internal
I really need your help, i dont know which kernel I should choose, I was going to try redpill kernel but people are saying that it has battery draining problems
Please help me, I baby my note 2 and I would rather die than seeing my note 2 having issues, and thats why I dont flash custom roms
Or, if there is a way to swap external mem on internal with some kind of app or OTHER WAY THAN A KERNEL
Thanks
You can use search button for that script. And you have to use kernel with init.d support.
perseus has best battery life with good performance, high costumisation by stweaks. agni best performance set by trickster mod problem is i can't set over the gpu... neak is good but i think it,s not so smooth. that was a shot review of some kernel. my choice at the time is agni

Perseus really does have the best battery drain.
But it lags in games.
Redpill has the best audio engine. Scoobydoo
Some members like. Neak more. Wolfson
Adam is currently going into the right way... You could. Try adam... Seems to. Ne. Very good.
Every custom kernel supports init.d.
Just flash the mod exsd2internalsd..... And you're good to go

Stock is the best kernel, if you care about performance. Period.
But you'll realize that after using a fluid ROM like ARHD, with stock ROM performance of all kernels felt same to me. Still if I had to choose one I'd go for N.E.A.K, as it is pretty straightforward with nifty features, just if it had the exFAT support!

I don't know on what basis you're making this claim, but anyways it's been the exact opposite for me - Redpill, Perseus, Devil all have great fluidity (had to mess about with the settings of Perseus a bit to eliminate the initial lag - but with no other) - and I haven't tried OC/UV much. Not to mention the headphone/speaker amp and saturation prevention options, screen calibration etc. which you miss out on stock.

The basis was my own testing with Perseus, Red Pill and even Adam, for a pretty long time. Not a single one was as fast and fluid as stock, even with the modified settings of stock kernel found here,

Oh, and as I said, if you are on stock ROM you won't notice anything, that's why I used Perseus as long as I was on stock ROM, but since I moved to ARHD, there was no other option other than stock.
Yes, I agree there are some advantages of custom kernels, like saturation prevention as you said, but no way I was giving up very noticeable performance degradation for some extra features without which I am not bothered at all. And since I installed Viper there are some amplifications, so that point is unchecked from custom kernels advantage list.
PS: If you have no problem could you send me your settings of whatever kernel you are using? I wanna try once more and see. Please don't bother if that kernel doesn't support exFAT.

I never ever stayed stock except for the while I had to send it to service. Otherwise I used redpill (exFAT supported) and I've noticed no difference at all from when I had stock unrooted. What's your issue - are you experiencing lag with custom kernels? Or what?
Fair point regarding Viper (love it and use it always myself), but FLL tuning and DAC resampling options make it sound better at that. IMO.
I stay on Perseus, mainly because of its color calibration and all the Stweaks customization features. Now if I use stock kernel, I feel my screen is completly unrealistic, almost fluorescent lol
As for performances, the Note 2 is just powerful enough not to see any difference between kernels. People using ARHD will always tell you that stock kernel is the best for the following reason: Mike1986 says stock is the best and won't give support if you're using another kernel. Period.
I'm using ARHD, but can't stand the fake colors and the lack of customization provided by stock kernel (no GPU overclock for example, no CPU overclock, nothing you can do if your "whites" are pink or blue, etc)

What the hell does this suppose to mean? Mike says.....blah blah....I don't care what Mike says! And what support are you talking about? I was on Perseus while I was using A.R.H.D, one can flash any kernel on ARHD, what to support there?
It's my view, and I am quite sure of all the ARHD users too, the stock kernel gives much more fluid and lag free performance than any other kernel available. Everybody likes customization, but as I said not with the price of performance compromise.
And you can OC GPU/CPU with Tegrak on Stock kernel. Get your facts straight before typing some gibberish.
Perfect example of why "best ROM/kernel" threads are not allowed.
