I bought a samsung gi5500 the other day and it charges fine from the wall.
It does not charge from any USB port though including the usb ports on a number of portable batteries I have.
My galaxy s ii and iPhone charge fine using the same portable batteries any ideas???

I've owned my Note for a week and have noticed only one issue. It will not charge with any other cable than the one that came with the phone. I bought a generic micro USB cable that worked perfectly with my Captivate but when I plug it into my Note it says it's charging but will either not actually charge or charge at an extremely slow rate (about 30% over 10 hours). I tried plugging the generic cable into the original charger and I get the same results. The phone wont even connect properly to the computer with any other USB cable. The problem is the cable that came with the phone is much too short for my needs. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
mines very slow to charge.....it take hours and hours to charge completely
Mine charges slower on aftermarket cables. My Skyrocket used to do the same thing and would not even sync, except with the oem cable and that was a common problem with the SR. So it is not a defect, but more of an oddity.

My works with my Infuse charger and also a "OEM" charger I got on eBay real cheap.

I've noticed the Galaxy S3 charges very slow via USB to comp, is that normal?
Would it be quicker via the power outlet?
I didn't think it was any different between the two though I haven't tried the outlet yet.
How do you charge yours?
Yes it is normal
Here is the internal settings for charging in S3:
-wall charger 1000mA
-USB charge 475mA
So charging your phone via USB should be longer than with wall charger
Thanks a lot mate. That makes perfect sense.
Silly me. Used to the old tablet having only a usb charger so I didn't know any better.
Hey guys. I have many micro USB cables and 1 of them charges S3 like the original samsung cable, but the others don't charge fast enough or dont charge at all via USB.
I would like to buy other cables able to charge like the original. Is there any kind of cable specification that I should look? Can't find any info about this.
Or any cable recomendation that ships to brazil (deal extreme for example)?
Thank you!
I'm wondering the same thing; ordered 2 different micro usb cables off ebay (pretty cheap ones). One actually doesn't charge the phone at all - while connected, the phone actually discharged by 1% after 10mins. The other took 1 hour to charge 5%.
This is while connected to the original Samsung wall charger.

Hi,
My S2 phone GPS still drains battery when It is connected to USB car charger. This chargers works fine with my wife's iphone. Does S2 have special current and power requirements.
thanks

While the charger amperage could be your problem I believe it is more a cable issue. I am by far not the most knowledgeable but I believe the factory Samsung cables are grounded across a couple of the micro usb terminals to induce a "quick charge" when you phone is plugged into them. I believe a Samsung cable, or factory charger could solve you problem. I believe several manufactures do this to their cables. I use an ATT charger and don't have any problems. I believe I bought 2 of them re-manufactured for like 2 bucks.
Late week i got my Samsung fast wireless charger pad
At first my device doesn't recognize fast wireless charging and not even show the toggle switch for turning on fast wireless charging..
It is simply says wirelessly charging but instead of charging..my note 8 drains battery...
I have the same issue. I wonder if our wireless chargers are to blame? I got mine from the Samsung/note 8 promotion.
Try a different USB cable. And what charger are you using?
what make and model is the pad? also if im not mistaken, fast wireless charging needs at least 10 watt/5v 2amp capable chargers.
also check for crappy usb cable, use an other one.
I in the past have found that most def the charge blocks and cables make all the difference in the world with the wireless charge.....
I will second these post
My Note 8 used to charge successfully on the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless station, but now it says it's fast-charging but it actually continues to drain. I have three chargers in the house, using the provided Samsung USB cable, and they continue to charge my Samsung S8 and S7, but the Note 8 does not charge successfully on any of them anymore.
