[Q] Need help installing Xrecovery 0.3 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I´m new here, and this is my first thread. Yes, I am a noob and I hate myself. And I have searched for the answer to this question myself, however, I could not find it, so if anybody could please steer me in the right direction ´Thanks´ will be obtained by all who have helped
I have:
Xperia X10i Dutch T-mobile branded.
I have rooted it WITHOUT opening bootloader.
It has Busybox from the market on it, it has Titanium backup on it. It has the Xrecovery 0.3.zip on the sdcard.
But this first sentence in the installationprocess puzzles me:
A: Install the zip package via your current recovery
How can I do this? As far as I know, I have no recovery program installed, and if I do, I am not aware of it. Do I need to install some other recovery in order to install Xrecovery 0.3, or am I missing a vital piece of information here?
(I tried using the installer app. It gave me 3 red crosses, saying the first file was already there and the other two were 'read-only' if I am not mistaking)
Any help is appreciated

Did you use flashtool to root your phone?

Also you can check if you have xrecovery by rebooting your phone and when boot hit back button until it enters xrecovery.

No, I used a small program named Root_Unroot Sony 1.5
It was a really quick and easy thing, just had to open the program, turn USB debugging on, enable install other apps, put screen time on more then 1 minute, plug in the phone, and press Root on the program. After that it had Superuser and some version of Busybox installed. I added Titanium Backup and downloaded Busybox from the market again, since the thread on Xrecovery was very clear that I needed that version.

OK than you need to use flashtool.

Like said earlier, you should install the latest flashtool as youll probably need that later.
Then you can install recovery and do a lot more.On my phone, when I switch it on,I wait for the blue led to light up,then I press the back button to enter xrecovery...

You can't boot into xrecovery using that script directly. You still need hit the 'back' button (hard key) when the the sony ericsson logo appears.
However, there is a thread by doomlord in which you can install an app/widget that will reboot into xrecovery directly.

New kernel question

Can someone tell me how to run the custom kernel made by z? Like exact instructions links needed clearly? I readed a few threads but didnt understand anything o.o
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
in that case its probably safer for you to just leave it alone. The kernel still needs work anyways and I myself am pretty firmilar with the flashing process and still managed to cause my phone to get stuck at the sony ericsson boot screen after flashing

Zzz like what the guy above me said, if your not 100% familiar with the flashing process then don't. Sigh might as well.
1 root your phone
2 install busybox and xrecovery
3 download the custom kernel
4 boot into xrecovery
5 install custom zip
6 select your kernel zip
7 wait a while, when done reboot
8 wait 10 min and done.

[Q] Rooting my X10i and being able to install Gingerbread,

Hi, guy & girls
i am wanting to root my X10i and then install the gingerbread system on my phone, i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of which method to use when rooting as i know there are a few tools out there for rooting, (easy as possible really)
Thank You, any help will taken on board..
Just look up flashtool on android development as it's probably the easiest method. If not then try superoneclick.
i have done superoneclick and the superuser app had appeared on my phone, how do i go about installing gingerbread?

Yes, but you must install busybox with flashtool, then install xrecovery from the xrecovery thread. Have you used flashtool before?
Then read about a gingerbread ROMS thread to install the ROM through xrecovery.
If you have trouble, I will post links when I get to a computer tomorrow.

ZKernel what am I doing wrong.

Hi I'm trying to install zkernel on baseband 67. I have done a fresh install using seus. rooted it via flash tool reboot, then installed busy box from market and then installed xrecovery with flash tool and installed the zkernel with flash custom zip. When the phone boots the kernel is still the same. I can't see what in doing wrong.

out of personal experience ive noticed that using the freexperia version of xrecovery gives me problems wen installing kernels. but i dont have the same issue wen i use zdzihus xrecovery. try installing Z's version and it shud work.
you can use freexperia recovery to install zkernel, just flash this chargemon after kernel install, chargemon_FXRec_default_CUSTOM.zip, can be found here:

Dont forget to thank DooMLoRD for his help fixing all guides and howto's
I just installed xrecovery and it worked perfect, and I helped doomlord test his back to stock method for people with broken usb connectors, so I already have loads of respect and thanks for him and thanks to you guys for pointing me in the right direction.

need help with xrecovery and custom roms

so, this is the deal:
i dont know how to use flashtool.
My PC's system requirments for flashtool are more than enough.
i just dont understand how to use it.
i keep getting stuck at "not detected" or something.
ANYWAY, LEAVE THAT! i dont care about flashtool.
i updated my firmware 1.6 to 2.1
then i rooted my 2.1
then installed busybox
then installed xrecovery
then wiped everything
then installed many firmware 2.1 custom roms
HOWEVER, i find that i can only install 2.1 custom roms. i cant install 2.3 or higher custom roms. My phone keeps restarting automatically if i did that. so the latest CM mode i can use is 6.1.3 ! which is sad.
how can i get 2.3 or higher custom roms to work
on my phone without endless-automatic-restart-loop ???
pls tell me. thankyou.

thanks but i cant use PCcompanion or SEUS because i will end up with 2.3. i dont know how to root 2.3 without flashtool (REMEMBER I TOLD YOU I CANNOT USE FLASHTOOL). but i can root my current 2.1 with z4root app. then i have xrecovery.
is there a (.zip) archive that i can install via xrecovery to get baseband 2.1.71 ?
No, a far as I can remember all basebands are only flashable through xrecovery.
You better get working on learning how to use flashtool...its the only way to do anything with the x10
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
If u install 2.1.71 bb u would have to be on 2.3 anyway not 2.1. Greg right pal u need flashtool in ur life it the only way to flash baseband currently for our phones. Follow flashtool-noobs guide you'll be fine (no need for z4 root its old, flashtool has one-click root)

hey guys, i think i found a way to root my 2.3 and install xrecovery. then i would not have the baseband problem (i had the baseband problem when i rooted 2.1 directly). It is using this software called superoneclick for the computer (i downloaded and opened it and saw a root button). does it work? if it works then it means that I do not have to learn how to use flashtool after all. I could get baseband 2.1.71 and install CM7 mod using xrecovery. No need of flashtool YAY! does the software superoneclick work for x10 if i use SEUS update to 2.3.3? :

I'm not sure whether that would work or not, but the flashtool nowadays has already evolved to an all-in-one tool, and you can do anything with it.
My recommended steps are:
1. Flash to stock 2.3.3 through flashtool/SEUS
2. Boot up phone and turn on USB debugging and unknown sources.
3. Open flashtool, you should be able to access the Advanced menu--->Root--->zergRush exploit to root your 2.3.3
4. Ask root perms then hit install xRecovery
5. Flash custom rom
These are always steps that I would recommend to people who are not too familiar with flashing.
I couldn't get superoneclick to work on gb think it was on eclair I managed to use it. Believe me USE FLASHTOOL.

help ps
hey everyone,
everyone seem to have no trouble with flashtool. but i have because everytime i try to root my x10 2.3.3, i only get a half-rooted phone with superuser, busybox and everything installed but no root access. i used FlashTool 0.2.9.1 and tried to root my x10 2.3.3 using the aZuZu Root Method (reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1196421)
so, now i am using a rooted 2.1 (i rooted with z4root not with flashtool) and installed xrecovery and custom rom 2.1. i want to use custom rom 2.3 but for that i need to root 2.3 but i cant root 2.3 with flashtool.
but when i see a root button available, i also see a button 'ask root perms' button. what is the difference?
thanks in advance.
