[Q] Note Vs S 2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I would like your opinion. Should I trade my s 2 for a note?? It will be a simple trade no money involved? Should I do this is the note better?

Go ask in the Note forum. How would we know ? We're SGS2 owners, remember ? #duh

If you can carry it have have large pockets and its not your primary phone, then yes
But when its your primary phone then its too big to take it everywhere and answering phone calls in public looks very weird

As no money is involved I'd say yes. It's a lovely phone if you can get used to the size. Played with it many times and it's lovely. The screen size is excellent and doesn't seem that big due to its slimness.
The s-pen is quite useful. And development seems good as well.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

If I had this offer I would do it without hesitation. Its just a bigger SG2, bigger battery and its a really nice experience especially looking at web sites with the bigger screen. Plus the s pen I say do it.

i would do it, its simple - bigger screen and better resolution

You won't regret, do it. And too bad nobody asks me to trade

If you happen to you has used the large size of the Note then takes!

I would keep the S2.

Dewd if u will buy note u cnt tk it with u at all places ... Cuz its screen is to big.. N it will be hard 4 u to take it with u all the time when u go out...

That was sarcasm intended for the member who posted above him.
Anyway, I guess everyone has answered it already. Check out the Note personally and get a feel of it. If you don't mind the size and are comfortable, than definitely go for the trade.

Thanks everyone btw how do I close the thread?

Sorry my friend but i don't agree,,,,, i have both the phones and i promise u , once after using the note for a few days , i am starting to think that this is the siez a smart phone out to be of ,,,trust me the experience is just better with it ,,,

yes awsum pro ;,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yes do 1t 4 u yes ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I agree with most who posted here, as I have a friend who has one and am thinking of getting one myself (but want to wait couple more months to see what other new phones coming).
You have to ask yourself What you want to use it for?!
I do a few jobs and one of them is graphics design. Something like that can be useful to me, when I have an idea from out of the blue and want to do a quick mockup.
- or someone in business who answers many emails might like more space.
However - I also think the price of it is a bit high (and I'm not short on money). Here in Asia, can get myself a tab/pad for even cheaper... which will give me better use for what I need.

I don't see myself changing from Ace for the next 6 months
love my phone
I bought dis fone in march. 1st time i saw it, fell in love with this beauty. Wanted to buy galaxy s frm d day it launched. But after looking at dis fone, i gave up performance(galaxy s) for looks(ace).

I think the Ace does the Job for Years.
I gave my old G1 to a Friend and even that old Brick does its Job fine
Well I got mine for another year. I agreed a 2 year contract when I got it. When I do upgrade I will be keeping my ace as a spare. I love it and couldnt let it go. When its time comes ill buy a new battery. Leave it uncharged and pack it away in its box for safe keeping. I will also make one last rom for it, using all the advancements I can. Flash it, turn it on and check it, then turn it off and never fully use the rom. It will force my curiosity to turn it on again. Its very special to me. I learned to dev on this phone, any phone after will have alot to live up to. Thats why whatever it is I can tell you right now it will be a galaxy of some kind I upgrade to.

The people who keep their Aces show dedication to the cause, like Jusada i'm tied to a 2 year contract on 3UK and plan to make every penny count out of this mid range badboy... I'm currently devoted in bringing ICS to our Ace. Its so much more fun watching ur phone progress than getting one that does everything out of the Box... if u want performance out of the box get yourself an IPHONE for everything else there's Android
even if I buy a new phone this one never goes away. Let's be serious... THIS IS ACE and has BALLS!!!
Now return the ACE forum at main page before my ACE gets ANGRY!!!!
I'm not gonna change my phone unless it stops working! Since so many great devs/users keep giving their support it would be stupid not to recognise the capabilities of the Ace.
And, anyway, I still find quite ridiculous spending more than 250 euros for a phone.. really: why should I waste 500 or 600 euros on a smartphone? You can buy a washing machine AND a microwave with that money, even saving some!
Quality AND Cheapness = Ace

This is my first Android phone, and my love to this is endless... Even though I plan to change phone after I collect some money and wanna buy a phone from Nexus series, I want that especially because it has MIUI, and I wanna know how that ROM tastes like.
As they said first love never dies.. It holds true to my first andy phone also.. I have a big attachment to this phone.. I flashed GB with ful enthusiasm.. Cant even forget that day

I sleep with my ace side by side also with my e71. not gonna change them, I'll never even sell them, I keep all my phones now. they have sentimental values, moments of my life that may have not happened If I have not got my phones.
got them almost snatched last monday, the thieve's fingers is on my pocket(where my ace is) but I took action against it.
thank God.
maybe about 1-2 years for me
I'll keep using it until I have no use for it. I change phones quite often. At the moment I have an X10i, a ZTE Blade,Galaxy Ace, and a ZTE Crescent(blade2). Have also had at least four others. The one phone I can't give up is my Blade, it has so much devving and an awesome community. Also very easy to work on and cheap. I spend most of the time with the Crescent because its new to me and still fresh. Currently waiting for delivery of Xiaomi Mi-one.

HAHAHA!!!! +100 for that m8.

Please be mature, this in quite important for me

Greetings, everyone. As you can see, I'm from the One X forums, and I have come in peace. I came here for one reason only, to ask the Galaxy S3 users of their experiences, but please don't make it long. But don't misunderstand me as I am loving my HOX, reaches 5+ hours od screen time with normal to a bit hard usage too. Anyways, have you ever, even for just a few moments, had a feeling of doubt and regret after using your phones for a time? I'm sking because I feel this sometimes too, and am asking myself whether to buy an S3 or not. Btw, please don't be offensive. I tried to be as polite as I could.
EDIT: Forgive the typo in the title

I'm not being rude but there are multiple threads where you can join the debate on which is best....in general section. But I can assure you that the whole thing just goes round and round in circles and you will end up feeling suicidal after a while.
And this thread is bound to attract some moderate level of barbequeing! Good luck

I see, but the whole point that I wanted to point out was to simply ask whether for just a moment, has anyone felt, even if it's just a tiny little feeling of doubt or regret after some time with their devices. A simple yes or no could suffice. But HONESTY must be at hand, too. I would apologize however if some of you would just find this useless and start saying how the S3 is better. A yes or no is all I need, I would do the counting myself. But some few explanations of your answer would also be great

I don't regret coming to the S3 from the One X except the One X is a better looking device imo
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I love my S3 and it`s bleeding fast but the screen of the HOX is better than ours. That said the S3 has much better batterylife, removable battery, sdcard slot, better cpu as said and i like touchwizz better than sense, alltough i don`t use ( Nova Prime). I have had the HOX also so i can compare i think. Both are good devices with their pros and cons.
I like HTC indeed i had a HD2 probably the most hacked and "liked" phone ever on XDA, the One X is indeed almost on a par with this phone but no removable battery or no micro sd card facility meant i could not consider it over the Galaxy S3 and coming from an Galaxy S2 i was always gonna get the Galaxy S3.
I'm running Supernexus stable Jelly Bean on my Galaxy S3 and it is blazing fast and super smooth, too early to post about battery life as i only flashed it yesterday but when i had Android Revolution and CheckRom i could too get over 5 hours screen on time.
To conclude i would say the top 2 smartphones on the market in order are
1 - Samsung Galaxy S3
2 - HTC One X
My brother is having issues with his HTC one X while my SGS3 is fine as ever. Does that make you think otherwise?

Well the s3 is my first ever smartphone. it feels a lot more plasticky than the s2 and the back cover feels like its gona break every time i need to pull the battery. my friends love the take picture while you shoot video feature.
At first I was shocked by the battery life since i was used to my nokia mobiles lasting upto 3 days with a single charge.
I got over this quickly as i began to realize the s3 is actually a powerful mini pc. if ur a heavy user it makes complete sense to buy a spare battery.
The stock rom was slooooow. full of bloatware. ram management could give me at best 190MB. when i realized that in addition to this i couldnt install firewalls that was the last straw.
I came to xda and studied the rooting process, and eventually installed cyanogenmod 9 on it. boots take just as long but i now get upto 420mb free ram. i was a bit turned off by the 'no camera flash, no fm, no hdmi' feature (or lack thereof) of the mod but got over this the moment the boot animation played out. besides the camera is fixed in the new nightlies, i can use spirit fm and i had hdmi out in my last 2 phones n never bothered to use it.
I'm never going back!!!

[Q] Which Phone to get

Hi guys, i had posted this on General and never got a response so posting on the Q&A.
The question i have, more like need input to help me decide, currently i am using a Nexus One and its time i upgrade, I was hoping to land a Nexus 4 but with the way the PlayStore kept giving delays i see no hope of getting one soon unless i pay more and buy from eBay, Therefore i am thinking should i just go for the Galaxy Nexus or which other model would you recommend? My price range is Max 400$, unlocked and which i can play around with it by flashing new ROM's and enjoy the open source of Android.
Thanks in-advance

One X, galaxy Nexus?
Or if u could find some good deals for s3 by googling around .
life!

why there is no developer for replica galaxy s3??

hi,
hi saw that many people want that will have developer for replica...like some rom and helping..
so if u can do something about that it will be great.
Nope its not a SGS3 search google for fake clone forum .
Their are multiple fakes not just one type of fake as well .
Totally different hardware and therefore not a question to ask in this forum .

because usually devs can afford decent phones and they don't want to waste their time on cheap knock offs
Fake rom for a fake phone ??

Another amazing coment from glebun ...
I have said to u before to lower your attitude but again i will do u some favor:
And since you are against spoon feeding
Search on google: "how to be humble"
And then remember that not all of us can afford a S3 wich is a pretty expensive phone
And also that this is xda we are a comunity and not the "rich developer private code playground" and we do what we can to help others!!
And if there is no help we can give the least we can do is be nice and point out other direction
--------
@op: try find out the real name of you phone model and search for it on google on xda i have no knowlodge of any support for the cloned s3
Take care

couldn't agree more.
In addition, I had the chance to look at & use a S3 clone some time back as a friend bought one over here in Bangkok. To be honest, the phone looked the same (I know that is the definition of a clone) but even was snappy and usable as a normal phone. Wouldn't exchange my original S3 but as a travel phone or for people that do not need a high end device, why not?
@op: as said before, try a quick google, maybe there are some Chinese forums that develop for the clones?
Search XDA possible in the Android development forum .

If you can't afford an S3, don't buy something that kind of looks like it just to think you have a high-end phone. Get a phone from Samsung or HTC in the low range for the same price, and you'll probably get much more development, because these cheap fake phones are literally a waste of money. That's my opinion.

I agree with this guy, i'd rather buy a cheap low to mid phone than any of these knock offs
Ive seen these phones in action and they suck big time, they might seem snappy and good at first but trust me in the end you'll be very dissapointed.
Im not trying to be rude( and i know glebun wasnt either) but its the truth, i know phones like the s3 can be expensive for some(myself included) but regardless of the amount of money i pay for a phone, i want to get my moneys worth
Whats the point of paying 100 for a phone that looks like 500 when it performs like a 10$ one?

Why is there so less interest in developing/modding Galaxy ALpha?

Hello friends, i use smartphones for a long time now and i love this forum. I remember the first ROM i downloaded from here, it was for the HTC Charmer and it is many years ago. I had beautiful and useful ROMs for my Galaxy S2, S3, S4 but now i got a Galaxy Alpha and i am a little bit disappointed because there is only one ROM for it - why? Is there no interest? Is the phone too new? Is it so difficult to modify the code?
Thanks in advance

Well you don't seem so with small replies like that.
Seriously tho, this phone isn't available in the US besides AT&T and it's seriously locked down. Not selling a phone in the US isn't the end all be all but it really does cut out a pretty big owner base and on top of having a secure boot loader there's no reason to buy it to dev on. It sucks because it's a pretty good phone for people who don't want a phablet.

Ok thank you, now i understand, didn't knew that. Well so i maybe should have taken an S5 instead but the Alpha looks so good...
the other reason , there are barely love for small device anymore in most Asian country.
bigger = better ?
maybe another reason is that 5.0 is coming soon
This is still a very new device and is targeted at a 'top end' user base.
Whilst the US carrier-exclusive deal will not be helping and the small form factor of the phone will put a lot of people off, it is still a superb device and custom ROMs will come in time I feel sure, but will never be on the scale of the amount available for mass-market handsets like the S4 or S5.
