Hey everyone
I really need your help.
Since a couple of days my battery drain is extremely high. Now i think i found the solution:
I checked my phone with 'quick system info pro' and noticed that the frequency of the processor is always on maximum (1024 mhz) even if i close all the 'big' apps and the cpu usage is at 5-10%.
Im on the newest cm 7.2 rom (fxp115) for sk17i and i havent changed anything in the cpu settings (governor: interactive / 122mhz - 1024mhz)
Anyone knows what could cause this problem? Any help highly apreciated!

There are CPU current frequency and CPU max frequency. Last one is always at 1 Ghz(unless you have over-/underclocked). Current frequency can be different at times.
Changing governor to ondemand might help. It changes current frequency depending on how much power android needs.
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
Yea thx
But it IS the current frequency thats always on 1 ghz
Ondemand has not fixed it

Hmmm... i understood your problem, this happens to me too with that app, i can suggest you to check in the Setcpu or related apps that changes the clock frequencys, they keep the real clock at the time you check, here i have Rage kernel with Hybrom, but i flashed yesterday.... dont had time to really check if the clocks are correct.
have u tried booting the phone in safe mode?
Ok, checked with antutu and its really not always on max. But most of the time... i assume thats normal then?
How to boot in save mode?

Some app is running in background, that uses CPU.
Find out, kill it!

dont know about other minis, even on my live walkman i accidentally invoke the safe mode once. when finally booting it got a "SAFE MODE" text on lower left of the screen and all apps that would normally autorun in normal boot didnt run automatically, and all installed app wont even open.
It's because probably you running your system trough the "ondemand" governor, keep in mind that governor change the frequency to the max almost all time unless the screen is on, if you really want some reduced clocks cycles ill suggest you the "smartass" governor or "preservative", but maybe you feel some lags but works too!
Ok, i found out that changing the governor from interactive to ondemand reduces the current frequency a bit. And my battery last a little longer now.
Thx everone for your help

So there was no app running in the background then?
No, like i said, i closed everything with a task manager

Hi,
at once, my english is very bad.
I have a problem with the Elelinux-7.1.0-RC1-Hero-v3.0.
The Status bar is very laggy and the launcher pro app drawer too :'( What can i Do.? thanks.!
wipe and clear everything, flash again!
Tried to overclock? I've used this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.droidx.overclock&feature=search_result and set the CPU to min 264 / max 672 governor: smartass for profile: screen on.
Be careful with overclocking, as with a computer electronic components doesn't like it
Don't use separate app to overclock Ele Rom. Go to Settings - Cyanogenmod Settings - Performance and adjust CPU clock there. Do it incrementally, though, for safety. I'm running 164/710 quite happily.
I should add: Smartass governor. Seems the cleverest, therefore saving a little battery...

For information v3.1 (based on Android 2.3.5) has been released, maybe it will fix your problem
Update to Eli's latest release and overclock is your best bet. I have my processor clocked at 264/748 SmartAss at the minute and it runs smooth as very smooth.
Also, as a note, I use SetCPU and have no problems.

Clean stock Android, the google way. That is AOSP. Performance and stability, no rubbish.
What I improved over cm_10.1 and AOSP itself:
System:
Fixed GPS bugs from CM, updated vendor blobs
Performance settings backported from CM with custom option to change GPU clock on the fly; #note1
Added a powerhal to do the CPU frequency autoscaling. Now it should work the right way;
Replaced AOSP keyboard with Sony’s one. It simply works better and has multiple dictionaries.
#note1 You need to change gpu clock every time you boot, not a bug - need to implement feature to save the clock.
TODO:
Add CPU and GPU voltage scaling to performance tab in settings
Kernel:
Overclocking to 1200 MHz;
Option to overclock GPU in userspace;
Backport entire wifi driver from P940 to fix power managment;
Updated interactive cpu governor code from google kernel (branch android-3.4);
Remove all not needed cpu governors, only interactive does the scaling job well.
TODO:
Add option to scale CPU and GPU voltages on the fly in userspace;
Merge more upstream patches;
Add more steps for CPU(also needs to be reworked in system power hal);
Write a little piece of code for GPU autoscaling, should result in better power management
Focus on testing the CPU and WIFI power managment, this are main things I focus on - after getting it to work like it should I will add more features to kernel. I need a great base to start making new things.

I see, then can you make a kernel compatible with other aosp or cm based roms?
I mean, I understand that this kernel would be compatible but can you make a kernel which fixes battery drain?
Just to confirm that this has no relation with cm 10.1 right ??because CM still has lot of problem
thanks in advance :good:
So there is no high battery drain like CM ?
Any chance for mirror? Cause now second time I couldn't download it (suddenly stops around 100 MB).
@mikegapinski:
Michał, could you tell me how you make GPS to work on AOSP? I'm getting RIL errors on e.g. AOSPA+, but I know only that it could be RIL problem (from other device maintainers).

Maybe but I didn't see any deepsleep state on this rom so battery is eaten quite fast. Still some optimalisation is needed, but this rom is a good start :thumbup:

Nothing wrong clean install, maybe more time is needed to enter deepsleep state on this rom much more than on others? I'll check it later.

Battery in linux kernel needs a few days to calibrate stats itself, but with DS I have no idea - I am simply using my phone not looking at cpu spy all day
Doesn't boot
This is my first thread, so please contact me if I have done something wrong
Main criterias that need work
-Sound loudness
-Ram management
-Performance
-Battery life
-Gaming
Better speaker volume
One of the biggest problem of cm11 based roms is the ow speaker volume. This can be Overcome by using VIPER4ANDROID
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
It improves sound loudness by a great deal. TRY IT YOURSELF!!!!! Tick xloud down in settings and see the miracle happen:good::good:{Install app drivers properly and use methods as mentioned in app thread}
Performance
-Use interactive governor as it gives the best performance. Use performance in settings to do so or downloada 3rd party app from play store. For eg No-frills cpu control { Dont forget to apply set on boot.}
-DONT ENABLE AUTO BRIGHTNESS. It locks frequency at max.
-Dont use ART. It is just negligibly faster but can cause problems with certain apps
-If you are facing,strange problems that are other are not facing, flash stock ics ftf file in flashmode using flashtool and then flash the rom's kernel in fastboot mode and install the rom
Ram management
Try fly-on mod if it suits you [did suit me, I run whatsapp, VIER4ANDROID, HD widgets, Google Search, launcher, all without any of them redrawing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226373
Dont forget to take a nandroid backup
[According to me, its better than supercharger especially for our device as fly on mod is optimized for 512mb devices, I even got random reboots with supercharger, so use fly on mod]{yes, they do exactly the same thing}
-Download memory manager from play store and set the values as follows
8,10,20,24,26,28
Dont forget to tick apply on boot
-According to me, dont use any task killers and similar 3rd party apps
- I dont even use KSM or purging or assets[you may if you like to
-Greenify Ram hungry apps such as whatsapp and facebook
-Download any root explorer and then go to build.prop in system
Then search for ro.config.low_ram=false and change from false to true
though this will cause to transperant notificatin disappear, believe me, it will help a lot
Better Battery Life
-If you want battery life, use conservative or lionheart as cpu governor
-Follow certain simple techniques such as
1 Switch off wifi and mobile network when not in use
2 Use 2g network whenever possible over 3g
3 Switch off bluetooth or NFC when not in use
-Use BETTERBATTERYSTATS from play store to know whats using your battery
-use Wakelock Detector from play store to know which apps are waking up your device
-Geenifying apps saves battery life even
-Sometimes happens is due to frequent changes of roms, battery gets uncaliberated and shows wrong stats. Follow these steps
1 Charge your phone overnight
2 Use the whole battery the next day and then again charge battery from 0-100%
-Airplane mode- use airplane mode during night, it will save overnight battery drain
-Turn off auto sync and location, it will save both battery and RAM
-Use Juice Defender from play store{It isnt just a placebo, it really works}
-Refer to this guide for detailed info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969741
Better gaming performance
-Reduce game graphics to improve performance
1 Download and install xposed module http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
2 Download and install app settings http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377
3 In app settings, choose the game you wanna play.
4 Reduce the resolution to lowest
5 Reduce density from 240 to 150 and save the settings and reboot
By this you will get lower graphics but smooth gaming experience, especially on heavy 3d games
-Fly on mod will also help
-Use xbooster and set gaming mode
-Set ondemand as cpu governor and row as io scheduler
-Use airplane mode while playing offline games, it will stop internet services like location, syncing etc and clear ram as well as cpu performance
Using these tricks your gaming performance will increase significantly
By following these easy steps, we can make our Kit Kat roms fit for daily use
Again, if I did something wrong, please inform me
Please press thanks if I helped you and if you like my thread

Nice thread
Thanks information is very useful :cyclops:
Some notes.
V4A is not compatible with walkman. (If you have it and its libs installed it won't work. )
Auto brightness doesn't lock my frequency at max. Probably ROM specific. (i use Weekly 4 cm 11 xperia p)
Flashing stock should not make a difference as entire /system partition is wiped on flashing.
Other than that all is good. (Wipe battery stats will have negligible effects and only when there ate major changes (like power hal) in ROM and you flash without wiping data. )

Thanks for the solutions! But I 've got some questions:
1. interactive governor - is it really the best one? If so, why it's not set as default?
2. You advise to not use ART...but what exactly it is (and where it is)?
Cheers!

Honestly I don't see nearly any difference in speaker loudness using Viper4Android. Of course, sound quality and volume are much better on headset. But it doesn't change too much with speaker problem.

Thank you for the answer.
If xloud is the last option in menu, yes I ticked it (sorry but in my native language that option was traslated and isn't even little similar to xloud now)
Of course I have installed drivers properly because as I said before there is huge difference on headset quality. But the difference on speaker is barely 'noticeable'...
I did not find any xloud option. Is it extra loud ?

When I run flashtool (CM11) I can see something like this:
BusyBox v1.21.1-kk bionic (2013-11-24 11:52 +0100) multi-call binary
Isn't it enough? What is the reason to install busybox from Google Play Store?
@pentoza
Not every one connects their cm 11 phone to flashtool. No point. And for updating busybox its better to use play store
@chetan_p
Well I tried all of that. Never worked. Gave up eventually. On stock .100 (xp) the driver never installed.

You can try the mod for disable sony limitations to cpu. (You should use performance-friendly)
First use performance goovernor to cpu. In interactive is lagging with any modifing.. (tested..)
Good is remove bloatware, yes with lastest is better but still some to delete..
Change the rom to 112,root,clean,xposed,gltools,greenefy autostart,smart ram,put scripts in init.d.
I play.GTA SA in 100 distance with shadows,reflects and traffic standart and high textures at 30fps,sametimes 24fps, MC5,DEAD EFECT 2,RR,Vainglory all at max graphics. 37000 Antutu.
Only game I cant play is half life2, only 15fps,but is for gltools because to work,I need activate a option that drop too much fps.

is there a list of total apps i should clean out?
Ok quick question. What is the best firmware for games?
Best is root, remove bloatware, use performance goovernor when you start playing, maybe use one of mod. If you delete unused bloatware apps, phome will speed up. . Im using newest. 167 and playing games smoothly, im using No Aggresive (4th mod).
For downloading games im using Dolphin browser, and i mounting it with FolderMount. With Link2SD you can uninstall system apps and move to system better using apps. (Like FB, Messenger, Root Browser better than Default File Manager,..)
But best is experiment and try what you like.
I download App to change governor and choose ondemand.Now Phone work very good and no lagging. GTA SA work on this settings on medium.If You don want very modding use my solution

do i use ondemand governor on little and big cpus? and also in the gpu? I tried to put all on ondemand and it heats up and when I play injustice the phone restarts hmmm

Its been almost a week on Blaze Kernel and i have never faced any lag or such with the recommended settings on that thread.
and in those settings interactive is the governor if i am not wrong so i don't think so interactive is bad , maybe the kernel or ROM you are using have some issues.
