[WIP][ROM][CDMA]ICSTweaked[v1][13.4.12] - Xperia Play Android Development

As a followup to my GBTweaked ROM for locked bootloaders, I thought I should start a thread this.
This ROM is based off the Official Sony ICS Beta, and will feature many great tweaks similar to my other ROM.
And the best news, everything CDMA Related will be working!
I plan to have this up and running within the next week or so for unlocked bootloaders, followed by a released for locked as soon as an R800i ICS .tff is released.
Whats Working:
Almost everything thats not related to the CDMA Radio
Whats Sometimes Working:
Calls
Data
Some users are reporting them working, some are not.
Whats Not Working
MMS

Advanced User's Guide
(All download links in the Downloads section below)
1. Backup anything
2. Flash Sony ICS Beta
3. Reboot into recovery. Perform a factory reset
4. Flash DarkforestICS Kernel.
5. Flash ICSTweaked and Gapps
6. Enjoy
Beginner's Guide
1. Backup any apps/data using Titanium Backup or CWM (or if you dont like having your apps, skip this step.)
2. Download the Sony ICS Beta for Xperia Play from here.
3. Extract the contents to the location of your fastboot folder (Default should be "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools")
4. Make sure your Xperia Play is turned off, and hold the search button (far right) while plugging your phone into the USB. (Your Notification light should now be blue.
5. Open up command prompt, and cd to the location of your fastboot folder.
6. You should now be able to issue the following commands
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
7. After all flashing is complete, reboot your device, and let it fully boot and configure itself. (If you've done this right, it should boot up the ICS Beta, and you should not be able to receive a signal.)
8. Turn off your device, and go into fastboot mode (as mentioned above.)
9. Download KeiranFTW's ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.8 from here, and boot it up as instructed in his thread.
10. Download ICSTweaked and gapps from the downloads section below. Save them anywhere that you have easy access.
11. Download KeiranFTW's Darkforest Kernel from his thread here, and save it to your fastboot folder.
12. Delete the boot.img you downloaded from the Sony ICS Beta, and rename the kernel you just downloaded to boot.img
13. On your phone, go into "Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage". You should now have SDCard access on your computer.
14. Move ICSTweaked and the gapps your downloaded to the root of your SDCard.
15. On your phone, do a full factory reset. Then proceed to flash ICSTweaked.zip, followed by the version of gapps you downloaded.
16. (Make sure your phone is unplugged at this point) After flashing, turn off your phone, and reboot back into fastboot mode.
17. Flash the renamed Darkforest Kernel (should now be boot.img) using the following command.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
18. Reboot your device, and enjoy the new ROM! First boot should take a while.

If you look more closely, you will see he said everything CDMA will be working, not that it already is.
You've got to admire his optimism!

IMHO, until someone presents us with an ICS based ROM (not CM based, but Sony based) that has reliably functional CDMA capabilities including true 3G data capability and calling, NO ONE has already done this. Different ones of us have had data and calls working at one point or other but their results can't be duplicated by others following the exac same steps. Heck, I had calls and fully working 3G data at one point, until I made a nandroid to test something else. I could never get it to work again.

Plus this is a "followup" of GBTweaked.

I just hope 3G Data and call works so we can finally have a real ICS build without any issues...

Pretty excited, as I loved the GBTweaked ROM.

any builds or updates ?
So any news on this seems like a radio silence in the thread . if you need any help testing let me know. Contacted you about that before so if you need me to help please let me know.

If you want to try ICS now, paxChristos's CDMA CM9 runs AMAZING on this device. The only issue is some game compatibility, and a bit lower battery life

Agreed. I am current running it as a matter of fact. The one quirk I hate is the fact that the analog controls do not work correctly here in Pew Pew 2 Not pax's fault, but apparently an issue with the controls in CM9. Question is, can it be fixed? (Along with the Pac Man issue of course)

About Us & ROM:
The first generic Android platform for current and future Droid devices. We are a bunch of mad hackers, modders and developers that were not happy with the current model of Droids being "Blurred" so we began a mission to rid our devices from the blurriness of VZW Android systems. It started with a crazy idea of messing with the Droid2 SDK that has turned into a full fledge AOSP generic type of ROM. We have incorporated many features that were only seen in AOSP ROMs before this. Some of the features include Reboot in Power Menu, custom built Framework, vanilla Android GUI, totally blur free app folder and many more AOSP like features to come in the short term future.
Features:
True Vanilla ROM with generic Android feel, not themed to look line one. No blur apps...
Reboot in Power Menu.
Custom Framework - 10% battery increments with display percent number & without.
Overclock ready out of box.
Lots of free memory.
ROM has root and has been deodexed, and zip alligned.
Busybox installed and symlinks have been applied.
Clean base for you to customize how you like.
And many more...
Fission ROM Manager:
Fission ROM Manager (FRM) is a utility we developed to make modifying your Droid phones much easier. It was designed for the new Android user but also very useful for the more advanced user. You can download ROMs, themes, updates add ons and much more. Once your downloads are done you can install everything within Android. No need to go into recovery any more.

Changelog:
2.4.2 -> 2.4.3
Removed Sound and Speach Recoder
Added new Sound Recorder that can be launched from App Draw
Added 10% Battery Display option to FRM. Will reset current theme back to Stock Fission.
2.4 -> 2.4.2
DX build gets new framework whcih should fix the random USB reboot when plugging in.
All previous fixes are now included
Latest Android Market
More Code Cleaning
Full version ROMs and Upgrades are available. Upgrade will only replace packages. It will not wipe app or framework folder.
No reason to wipe cache or data if coming from Fission ROM for either Full ROM or Upgrade.
2.2.1 -> 2.4
All Devices are now equal. Perform and look the same.
Framework improvements all around. Colors, placement of graphics...lots of little changes.
Almost all apps for each device have been rebuilt from source. Either from AOSP source or Moto source.
Each device now has device specific apps. Will help of future Blur add on. Many people been asking for many different Blur apps so there will be an add on Blur package. Blur package will be heavily modified Blur services and then each app will be an individual add on.
MMS menu compose graphic now fixed.
Phone mute fixed.
Rebuilt Moto Apps (MediaGallery, Cam and Music) are now standard. They work better and will help with Blur add on. Generic Android Apps will be available on FRM.
All devices now use Moto Multi-Touch keyboards. They are themed as Generic Android Keyboards.
More cleaning of code and tweaks...
Few other changes I can not think of right now
Small bug with Global ROM. If you need to activate, slide out keyboard and hit the number key you need to use.
No need to wipe data or cache if coming from previous Fission ROM; however the installer will wipe your system folder so back up any changes you have made to your system folder.
DO NOT USE 2.3.1 Themes. They will work but you will lose lots of changes. Themers are working hard now to update themes.
I must say these are the best Fission ROMs so far. Lots of love and hard work went into them.

Have you tried a battery yank? If so and it didn't work try again but before turning your device back on open the slider and press and holding the 'x' button. Keeping 'x' pressed down press and hold the power button. Keep them both pressed down. You'll get the M screen but it should boot into recovery.

yyeah i can get it to boot into THAT recovery, but what good does that do?
Sorry about the market issues guys. It worked at first when I was testing and then it crashed on later when I was not home so I could not fix right away.
RC3 was fixed and uploaded again.
You may have to go back to your OEM backup or RC1/2 backup, download RC3 again install it.
My mistake and sorry...just some stuff that happens when doing this sort of thing
RC4 or finall will be on FRM Full at some today/tonight. I am putting the final touches on it now

Angdroid - you mentioned on your twitter about getting it to work on AT&T and needed a Tmo sim to test, so what rom will this work-around be included in? Thanks!

Rule number 1, always make a back up
noope, only stock recovery.
this is my first android device ive rooted and such so i guess ive learned my lesson about backups. sucks i had to do it the hard way but i guess im a little hard headed. at least i can get it replaced :\
Great job guys. Keep up the good work!
Final or RC5 should be out later tonight. I have one more bug to kill and it will be gold
Any find any issues so far with RC4?
Using rc3, only issue i have is the lack of the reboot option on power button press, and in call menu stuff. Idk if those were updated in rc4 or rc5but im just sayin.

I don't see the normal post from AngDroid but it appears RC5 is on FRM. Running it right now without any initial issues.

The GPS Won't Lock (Already tryed gps.conf, fasterfix, gpsfix, without luck)...HELP!

Hi everyone!
Well, I live in SouthAmerica (Argentina), and I bought an unlocked AT&T Atrix 4G a couple of months ago.
When I was on the stock Gingerbread Firmware, the GPS worked Fine. But when I unlocked the phone, and started playing with ROMs, the gps stopped working.
Currently I have CM7 Weekly #4, but i previously had: Wet Dream V1.3, CM7 Ba2TF, CM7 Weekly #3, and the issue was present on all of that roms.
I tryed with the proper gps.conf configuration for my country, and a lot more, and none of them worked or improved anything. I also tryed with the following apps: Faster Fix, GPS FIx, GPS Status, and again, none of them worked.
So, I was wondering (If there isn't any other solution): Can I go back to the Official AT&T Gingerbread Firmware (.SBF file), or I will brick my phone?
If so, anyone knows where can I find that SBF? Because all the links I saw were on Megaupload, Filesonic, Fileserve, or similar, and all of them are down, or restricting the download.
Help will be highly appreciated!

flash a stock rom SBF file using RSD Lite should be fine. But don't go back to Froyo, any Gingerbread stock roms should be ok.
Well, i installed the SBF, and now the GPS works perfectly...
Why It doesnt work in custom Roms?

Hi,
Could you please try Neutrino V2. 1p rom?
There is a gps tweak in add-on.
First, flash the rom and test the GPS.
Then if it work, flash the add-on.
But for me it's another problem, it's really strange...
Do you full wipe (with fastboot) before flash?
Let me know by PM, I will not follow this thread carefully.
We will found a solution ;-)
Regards
-JFK-
I have the same problem and tried everything like the posted said above.
Running Cyanogen 7.1 on AT&T (USA)
Wish I could be more helpful, but I can at least confirm that the GPS works fine for me running cm7 weekly #6 with faux123's 1.3 kernel (on an AT&T Atrix). In flight mode (i.e., no data and thus no A-GPS or other location assistance) I can get a lock in less than 10 seconds with a good view of the sky.
I do not know if you tried reflashing your radio as discussed in the atrix-dev-team faq:
code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/wiki/FAQ
You say you have tried various firmwares but didn't mention what kernels you were using. If you are using the stock kernels, the faux123 or Clemsyn kernels might be worth a shot . . . obviously you need to flash the right kernel (i.e., if you are using a cm7 firmware, use the custom kernels specifically built for cm7).
If you already tried all this, well, sorry . . . give -JFK-'s suggestion a try.

I tried the Neutrino ROM GPS fix, it worked amazingly. My phone was taking forever to lock, so I flashed the United_States.zip file from the GPS fix, and it solved my problem. Used GPSFix app from the Market/Play Store to finalize it.
I'm running Ba2TF Beta 3 (CM7.1).
Again, this file is only for the United States Atrixes.
had the same problem with the phone since first day i started using custom roms,
but i managed to solve it a few days ago..... what i did was
go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252011
and download the 3.x Google Specific CWM Flashable build there
or just click this direct link http://derekgordon.com/gps-files/agps.patch.google.build.cwm.v3.1.zip
flash it with CWM,
then using root explorer, go to your phone system\etc\
and open gps.conf with text editor,
with in the first few lines, u will see this
NTP_SERVER=ntp.derekgordon.com
Click to collapse
there is only one NTP server,
so go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
and under active servers, select your sub-continent and u will some ntp server addresses, add that to your gps.conf.
than go into your country specific link and add the ntp server addresses u found there into the gps.conf file as well.
if you follow those steps correctly, your NTP server list for gps.conf should look like this for Argentina
NTP_SERVER=ntp.derekgordon.com
NTP_SERVER=0.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.ar.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.south-america.pool.ntp.org

now go stand somewhere with open sky as sometimes buildings block the gps signal so it can't get a proper lock,
cross your fingers and activate your gps and hope it works....
and don't forget to leave the gps open a few mins for the first time you activate the gps after the above steps
as i remember reading somewhere in the AGPS original post that it kinda help the gps locks faster.....
if u are geeky and wanna know how many sats ur GPS is locking on,
download this neat GPS tool https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lY2xpcHNpbS5ncHNzdGF0dXMyIl0
and see for yourself and while you are at it, u might wanna calibrate your compass for faster and more accurate GPS lock,
which can b done from (menu button)\tools\compass calibration
might as well do the 'calibrate pitch and roll' too,
but don't touch the 'manage A-GPS state' unless u know what u are doing as i have no idea what it does...
if you really wanna know how AGPS works, just go read it's original post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252011
cause i dunno how it works, i just know that my gps works after flashing and tweaking it
I have also been reading that switching radios can help the gps signal lock. Might be worth your time to look into it as well.
I had this issue just the other day and i just had a setting unchecked were it wasnt useing the interal gps for the lock not sure how that happend but it fixed my problem

Thanks.
I looked at this. I've since switched to Neutrino but same problem.
In my settings it provides the option to use internal GPS (as the only option) but even when selected the GPS source states ""use external bluetooth gps..."
Could this be the issue, that for some reason it's not detecting GPS hardware?

[ROM] Clear Wind RC2 - RELEASED! (For Wind for now)

Version RC1 based on Wind 1.46.1500.3.
This ROM is designed for Wind variant only, READ EVERYTHING before flashing
I worked very hard to write the update.zip script and modifing the stock ROM to do this as flawless as possible. I am also providing my own direct mirrors at my own expenses
Everything is done practically from scratch, so any donations will be appreciated!
Boot partition (kernel) will not be touched or included in this ROM, so Wind users can safely flash away!
Features:
------------------------------------------------------------
deodexed
zipaligned on boot
1% battery steps notification icon
overscroll glow (white)
disabled capacitive button lights
allows it to go to mininal brightness when dark enough (autobrightness)
minimum clock speed to 192MHz from stock 384MHz to save battery
my build.prop tweaks
blocked ads
DSP Manager
removed some bloat
removed Wind's bootanimation (that was ugly as hell....)
disable ext4 journaling
sd cache to 2048 to improve speed
updated crap loads of system apps
I am probably missing a few more, can't remember all
Planned Features:
------------------------------------------------------------
30 Media Steps (done)
Transparent Scrollbars so it does not look so "old" (done)
CRT off animation (done, thanks to heyjoe66!)
Webkit text reflow disabled by default (looking into this)
Fix garbled camera preview and video playback (looking into this)
* done means will be added to next release
Bugs:
------------------------------------------------------------
- Mail cannot start and FC every time due to some hard coded lines in Mail.apk, it requires an odexed framework. FIXED IN RC2
- If you are coming from another custom ROM, you must nand restore to original or RUU to global. Otherwise, you will get codec issues for lines in videos and camera previews.
Install instructions:
------------------------------------------------------------
Unlock bootloader
Install TWRP recovery
Nand backup (boot, system)
Flash Clear Wind zip
Reboot
If you are coming from another custom ROM:
Use hasoon2000's toolkit and install original Wind's kernel or flash RUU
Install TWRP recovery
Nand backup (boot, system)
Flash Clear Wind zip
Reboot

I will be deploying through fastboot, no need to flash custom recovery theoretically. And the deployment only flashes the system partition, I also have a stock unmodified version of system(not even rooted) so you can always go back to stock if necessary.
So all you need is unlocked bootloader, but you can always relock it after you reflash my stock system.img through fastboot
I'm willing to beta test it
(Side note: I'm in the need of the stock wind rom, hope you have it )

You can find the most recent WIND/GlobaLive RUU's and most others in my public Dev-Host folder (linked below). I uploaded them here because if was very hard to get an open download slot at FileFactory.com (used by Football & TMartin) Dev-Host has been reliable me (I donated a little $$ to them as well, so we can all have easy access to these files).
***I got all of these RUU's from Football & TMartin except Globalive 1.46.1500.3 which is from bbs.gfan.com (Chinese Web Site)***

Turns out, you can't use fastboot to flash images that big.... I am not sure how RUU could. I searched it up, seems like a lot of RUU's are having the same issues.
You will need to use custom recovery, for this one, I chose TWRP. (might work with CWM)
It is in your best interest to do a nand backup for now with your stock unmodified system because I never tried RUU if it can fully recover. I can provide the stock recovery image later so you can restore using custom recovery and flash the original recovery image via fastboot then relock, no need RUU at this point.
You flash RUUs by renaming it to P85IMG.ZIP (correct me if I'm wrong) have it on your sdcard (don't remember if Internal or external) then boot into HBoot. It will find the file and flash it. Not sure if you must relock your bootloader or not.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?

Yeah, I am aware of the process, but it is just that i found some other HTC devices getting the errors. I am not sure how RUU handles the process, even renaming it to "P85IMG.ZIP" might end up extracting the img files inside, one of them being system.img.
for the global RUU's, they come in exe format, I think it walks you through the process to restore it, but I never did.
Have you tried adb commands?

Pretty sure within recovery, I can adb shell and use dd to copy it over, but it will require 1.5GB + on the sdcard for the uncompressed system.img. so yeah, that is why i made the update zip instead, easier for people to use. If they are required to use custom recovery, might aswell make it easy for them

I am not sure what happened. Reuploading it again
I would hit you up with a thanks, mine are all used up for today. Will owe it up tomorrow. The picture looks great though! Nice and tidy rom. I too can not stand the boot animation and all the bloat from the stock rom.
No camera (lines instead of live image), no WiFi (error), no Exchange Sync (force close).
Wiped /data - still no success.
What's wrong? What kernel do I need?

Because you are using a Wind variant, and you have installed a custom ROM with custom kernel not supported by Wind variant. you need to use the toolkit to flash Wind's kernel and flash Clear Wind again

Can you point out where can I find a stock 1.46.1500.3 kernel?
BTW I flashed [Kernel]Amaze[2.6.35.13](v009)OC~1.73/JRCU/UV/CIFS+UTF-8/Power Saving[Mar-13] kernel now.
WiFi is now working, but still no camera/Exchange.
Are you sure Exchange force close can be kernel-related?

Faux's kernel has different video codec handling, your camera or any other video playback in youtube etc in horizontal will look like that until you install the Wind's kernel. You will need toolkit version 3.1, not 3.0 on xda. you can find it on android-dev.us
I am getting FC's on the Mail app too, I think it is the result of deodexed framework. I see lots of other ROMs are having the same issues logged in thedebug monitor. Anything else FC's?

No other FC so far.
Just flashed stock kernel. No go, still lines in camera.
Wiped data, system, cache.
Trying to reinstall the rom.
UPD
Performed a clean reinstall. Epic fail.
Same here, getting lines in the camera. Everything else works fine (besides mail FC)

CM10 Inconsistency & No GPS Lock

I rooted my phone and installed the latest CM10 Rom from this XDA thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851912
However, although everything else seems to work just fine, such as Bluetooth, camera, etc., my GPS does not lock.
I've tried searching the forms here but I can't find a definite answer on how to get my GPS to lock.
When I used to have the the HTC EVO 4G, I had to do some ###GPS... stuff in a Sense ROM and then use that to get the GPS to lock when I installed CM7 but I found a few people who tried that and it didn't work.
Also, when I first tried installing the CM10 Rom, I got stuck with the CM10 boot animation so I followed the following instructions and finally got it to work:
Extract the boot.img from the CM9 ROM zip, and flash it through fastboot ("fastboot flash boot boot.img"), and then flash the ROM through recovery (or you can do that in the reverse order, and it should still work).
I think knowing that may also help.
Anyways, bottom line is, how can I get my GPS to lock in CM10.
I have TWRP installed.
That's not the newest build. Get the newest nightly here: http://get.cm/?device=jewel
Try flashing that and see if it helps your GPS issue.
And if you have HBOOT 1.15 or newer and have to flash the kernel (boot.img) separately in fastboot, make sure it's the one that comes in the new CM10 ROM zip you download from the above link.
Alternatively you can download GPS Tools from the market, it will erase location data cache and reset GPS, pretty nifty tool
I don't know if it will help or not, but some folks have been having luck with this process:
Do a clean install of CM10, wipe system, cache, dalvik, and do a factory reset, or flash the super wipe script that is available(do a search)
reboot phone after install see if GPS locks.
if not, reboot into recovery, and do a nandroid backup of your phone.
wipe phone again and do a clean install of a Sense ROM.
Boot into Sense Rom and get a GPS lock
immediately boot into recovery
this step is optional, but you can do a nandroid of your sense Rom at this point in case you need to go back.
Restore your CM10 nandroid and try to get a GPS lock.
Hopefully Profit!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I tried all the suggestions but the one that temporarily worked for me was where you flashed a Sense ROM, got a GPS lock, went into Boot and flashed CM10. Unfortunately, this only works while you don't restarted your phone. It was working for me on CM10 but then I tested to see if GPS will lock after a restart and it didnt.
I'm just going to use FreshEVO until an official CM10 build is out and whenever this issue is addressed on a more official level.
Thanks again for all the help!

Official CM10 builds have been out for over a week. Hopefully you followed my suggestion and downloaded one from the link I provided. The one you said you used is an earlier unofficial build.
Hope everything works out for you.

Yup, I downloaded the lasted CM10 ROM and then followed the other two suggestions but the GPS locked during one session after going through a Sense ROM. But, like I said, once I restarted my phone, I lost the locking. I'll just wait until something more solid comes out.
Thanks again for all the help!
Chiming in that GPS still doesn't work in latest cm10.
Really frustrating, cm10 is still far from a daily driver. Any other GPS fixes to try before I go back to MeanRom?

I tried the latest nightly available in the cm10 thread and GPS still doesn't work.
Are the IRC builds even newer than the nightlies? Not having GPS is a dealbreaker for me and I'm unfortunately back on MeanRom until CM10 has working GPS.
Have you tried the clrgps trick? I don't remember the exact code but its floating around the forums, flash back to sense use this to clear and reset the GPA and then open maps to get a location fix, then flash back. I tried downloading GPS Tools from the Play store and reset the GPS data and got a fix under MeanRom, then flashed back to CM10 and no GPS at all.
GPS locks nearly instantly under MeanRom, but under CM10 I let it sit out on my car dash for a 30 minute ride and it didn't lock on at all.
Here is the fix that worked for me. Flash to a Sense ROM, download GPS tools. Clear GPS data and then download GPS data. Make a Titanium backup of GPS Tools.
Flash back to your CM10 ROM, restore GPS tools through Titanium.
Never thought of that....clever
In location settings of cm10, you have to them on the internal GPS source. After flash it is set to external GPS source (Bluetooth device, etc.) After I switched this option, and did the sense trick, my GPS locks in seconds.

Where can I find this "GPS Tools" on the market? Whenever I search for that, I just get a bunch of GPS test crap. Is it not called GPS Tools? Also, can you explain the backup process using TB in more detail?

You will likely need an updated recovery.
Assuming that is the case, I will provide the one that compiled with my build.
ClockWorkMod KK compatible recovery image
Old Versions:
cm-11-20131202-UNOFFICIAL-fireball
Source: CM Github
Thanks for trying my build....
Just in case....
I tried to install using TWRP 2.6.3.0. It seemed to mostly work until...
Code:
Creating Symlinks...
ApplyParsedPerms: removexattr of /system/addon.d/50-cm.sh to 0 failed: Operation not supported on transport endpoint
script aborted: set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/cm-11-20131202-UNOFFICIAL-fireball.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/cm-11-20131202-UNOFFICIAL-fireball.zip'
After this, the device just bootloops.
I'm going to try again using the recovery.img referenced in the first post.
EDIT: After flasing the CWM recovery from the first, I was able to install. My phone is booting up....
And success! It booted. I made a phone call. I have 4G/LTE. WOW! I'll test some more tonight and report any issues I discover.
EDIT2: The first boot after installing gapps-kk crashed and rebooted the phone. The second boot hung at the "Android is upgrading..." screen with the message "Optimizing app 1 of 21". During this, I checked the CPU usage and found that /system/bin/mpdecision was using 100% of the CPU. After a few minutes I pulled the battery and restarted the phone. This time, with it unplugged (it was connected via USB to my laptop in all previous tests). It completed booting and finished the Android upgrade.
I was able to setup my Google account and download apps over 4G/LTE.
Google Keyboard, Google Search, and Google + were all out-of-date and got updated.
I briefly tested the GPS using "GPS Test" from CHARTCROSS LIMITED. The GPS worked and I got a lock quickly.
I tested WiFi on both 2.4, and 5 GHz both worked reliably for the brief period I tested.
The only thing I find lacking (and it's lacking in ALL non-stock-based ROMs) is the ability for an app to read the secure element of the SIM. This is a requirement for the ISIS contactless payment system - which I use A LOT. So, even though I'd really love to be on KK, I'll be reverting back soon.

Can confirm it boots and runs very well after updating recovery. Great job!

wow - great news!
This works very well considering. I haven't experienced any major drawbacks yet. WiFi, GPS, LTE, Bluetooth all work great and I have no problems sending or receiving texts or pictures, the only thing I have really noticed is that the native browser force closed on me. I downloaded chrome and all is good. I did redo the RUU because of a borked radio but that was from the last time I installed 10.2.

I had the same issue with installing, worked flawless when using the specified CWM.
Camera, 4g, calls, wifi, gps everything worked.
1 main issue I ran into is multiple FC when using messaging or hangouts to text
I have not had any fc 's for messages and I don't use hangouts. I forgot to mention the camera works well and it's even oc'd to 1.5 GHz, which works well. This is the best alpha build I've ever ran. I did have to use the CWM recovery provided also, forgot to mention that.

By far the BEST alpha ever..... I did have to use the recovery specified
No fc so far and ran it for the better part of yesterday and overnight ... Will report back on battery life tonight
One question , how do you add home screens
When you go to the widgets page and touch and hold the one you want then you can add it to the left or the right of the home screen and it will add a page for you.
I have noticed that the ear piece volume is pretty low during phone calls, I know this was/is an issue with other CM builds, I don't know of a fix for this. Does anyone else?
About to flash soon reboot back how to works for me! Thanks for you efforts Dev!! Awesome that you are building us cm11 and don't even have the device!

Flashed CWM, then the zips, wiped davlik
1st boot: restarted during CM splash screen
2nd boot: got to "Optimizing app" but was going extremely slow (this has been happening alot lately with other builds)
3rd boot: seems good
I wish there were a way I could restore a TWRP backup using CWM so I could jump back to 10.2 quickly if needed
EDIT: Oh I guess I could have just down a backup in CWM before flashing CM11. Oh well

There is no need to wipe dalvik after flashing the rom, that creates issues.
As the dalvik hasn't even built yet and now its gonna try and optimize on first boot.
Let me know if you guys want more builds/updates/nightlies?/weeklies?....
Or is there not very many folks left on the device that are interested?
Glad the initial build is working out well.
Great Thx!
