hi, i have a problem with my tablet, i tryed the tool ALLinOne and first i rooted my device and it was fine.
after that i installed rescue-backdoor and the tablet installed the 3.2.1 android again. and i lost the root.
but the problem is, i can't root my tablet anymore now. i get the message:
your kernel version ... has been locked down
Hi,
If you have kernel build #10, then you can't root.
The problem is that once you have root and applied rescue-door, then you should NOT update, otherwise you loose all your changes.
The main problem is that seems that the new update you downloaded brings build 10... so you can forget root for a time.
Regards
maybe it is possible to install a other OS via the recovery mode?
Not without root ... sorry for this bad news ...
Now you only can wait for ICS update.
May be there is a little chance to change the unfortunately situation.

I've tried everything but couldn't get my tablet to root. My device was found by adb but kept getting permission denied. I spent 10 hours now trying to root it. I've uninstall, reinstall, any method you can find on the web and still couldn't get it to run. I'm running 3.2 build 10 #1. Please help....

Is it really version 3.2 on your Tab? I heard from an user from Italy with the same combination of FW and kernel. The solution was to update of the latest version 3.2.1R2. He got a lower kernel build (<9) and was able to root his phone afterwards. You can try the same .. and you lose nothing ...
From my personal point of view it makes sense to update to the latest FW version, independent of root problem .
Hello!
First of all, thank you - Condi - for this great tool.
Unfortunately I managed it to flash a downloaded OTA (signed-nbx03_007-ota-11000.014).
Right now, the device is rooted, has Android 3.2 and Kernel Build10#1 on it.
I was able to disable update notifications with your tool, but everything else is not working right now because of the common Build10 Problem.
Is there a way to get back to stock, even without root but @ 3.2.1 and the upcoming 4.0.3?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry, but this it not really true. The build#10 problem concerns only 3.2.1r2 version. Otherwise you would be not able to root your device with version 3.2.
Could you explain what you mean with "but everything else is not working right now because of the common Build10 Problem.", please?
Regarding your question .. it is really easy to go back to stock .. switch update notifivcation "on" (maybe you have to restore origional build.prop) and install the update version 3.2.1R2 ... done.
Its a bit difficult to explain, but right now I have 3.2 installed.
After switching the update notification to ON, I get the message to update to 3.2 again (!?)
Right now, I have root access in my device. The tool is able to switch notification on/off, but re-root or another step (6-8) is not possible for me.
I get the error that is typical for Build#10 in the script.
Hello!
A few weeks ago, HTC sends me an update to fix the Heartbleed Bug from Android 4.1. On my device I have root and Xposed. If I install the update, would it remove my root and Xposed? It's my first Android Update after rooting
Thanks,
Weely_XD
I think you have to go back to full stock (Rom,recovery, bootloader locked) to update, so yes update remove root.
Could someone that installed this confirm if root was lost or not?
Thanks!
I will not be changed

of course not, but what about your phone, LOL
Well, I went ahead and installed the stock recovery and this OTA-update.
Everything seemed fine so I re-installed a new copy of TWRP (same version number as I had before)... Confused me totally. It was asking me to root again as soon as I quit recovery, which I did a few times... But I could never finish the installation of SuperSU. It always failed...
I was messing around with this for 2 days, until I for some reason tried to install TWRP from another "old" file I found on my computer (the exact same file I used when i rooted my phone the first time).
Now everything worked fine...
I guess the other recovery image was corrupt, incorrect, or something else...
Well, the mess was sorted out at least, and I still have root, did not have to reset my phone, and everything else seems to be OK.
Thanks! :good:
I modded my HDX with root and Xposed. I want to make the manual update from 3.2.1 to 4.5.2 , but the bin update files i tried (3.2.8 and 4.5.2) didn't work. It said that they are invalid.
Do I have to edit the build props for this? Seems strange to me, because those are real updates not downgrades.
I did a factory reset, but 4.5.2 update still is "invalid". (got it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/update-1314-4-1-1-probably-sangria-t2901813)
Why do you want to update to 4.5.2?
You'll lose your chance to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.

It was due to the fact that my touchscreen isn't working correctly and I wanted to try to fix it with an update.
For the update process everything worked (creeping through various update processes) and I am now on rooted CM11 with xposed and everything I wanted (using safestrap v4).
Sadly though a the old problem occured like always: The touchscreen wasn't fixed at all.
I'd see this thread as closed and will start another one about the tochscreen problem as it's a whole new topic.
EDIT: If somebody is interested which way I went for the update or about the broken display see my new post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...-7-touchscreen-partly-broken-display-t3308106
This is my first time trying to root a phone so sorry for noob question
I have build version 34.0.A.1.264 and it says the software it is up to date but I know it's not, Sony website says 34.0.A.2.xxx is available.
So should I try to update my phone or will the .img in the Xperia X root thread work even though it says it is for 34.0.A.1.277 devices ?
Also, will I be able to update OTA without losing root ?
Thank you !
Most OTA updates no longer work with root because they now work on a per-block (instead of per-file) basis, and will not run if any file on any updated partition was changed. You need to unroot and restore the system partition to the exact state it was before rooting, then install the OTA, then reroot. It might be easier to just flash a ROM with the OTA integrated.
