Further proof that if you're looking for answers, you're better off finding them here... and upgrading to ICS with the ROMs suggested and listed here.
Hmmm... I wonder what that online chat tech support job pays. Looks pretty easy!

LMAO. That's a good one, Louise.

LOL I wouldn't be surprised if that's when we'll see the actual release.

And they they say they don't throttle too, but I know thats BS. Video:http://youtu.be/vOo4q4qGZCc

Verizon is VERY clear and up front on how they deal with high data usage. They will reduce your data speed but only in areas of congestion and only while the congestion is occurring.

Well, she is right.
Ahh, and... Lol.

I can assure you that Verizon has NEVER said that they DON'T throttle. If they did, then they obviously lied to you.

I will be taking my phone in to a at&t store and do a vs video. Then take it to a verizon store and do the same.
They are crooks.

Haha, that's classic!

1) If 500mb is high, then so are you.
2) It's 11:50pm and I am reading about 600kbs on avg
3)they were never "very clear and UP FRONT" about it with me.
You will be eating your words soon

There are so many things to factor in with data speed. Heck I'm getting less than 1mb/s but that's cause where I am.

You think I live in the sticks too. That does it, I am going into the At&t store 5 min from my home and do a LTE VS LTE test.

Yea, but 600kbs on 4g lte sucks. I get way better speeds on my s2 and a droid 3 on 3g even did better. Thats why I say they are throttling me.

Have you tried 3g and seeing if you get faster speeds? If your not on stock rom Maybe there's a problem with you 4g. Could be a 4g problem in your area. If none if this is right what does Verizon say if you called them and asked them if your being throttled.

1) I am 100% stock and uptodate. (no ics)
2)I have called 8 TIMES and every time I ask, they tell me network is fine and they don't throttle.
Just did and yes I do.
Edit:
3g down load at 1600kbs vs 4g lte at 400kbs down load.

Just out of curiousity- I notice you've got a refurbished RAZR, any chance the tech that refurb'ed didn't catch everything? After switching from T-Horrible over the weekend to Verizon, I'm amazed at how much faster my RAZR Maxx is vs. my old 3G Nexus One.
*shrug*

They will not take this one back. Thats why I am mad. The guy was like if this is not fixed by 4/11/2012 to call back and I was like say what now. You should look at my throttled video.
Yes there is a chance tech did not catch this, becuase for a day it was fine. It does not matter if this one and the last one did the same thing, becuase they will not take the beeping phone back.

Really depends where you live or work. At work, Sprint is 800 kbps while 55 would be a dream for AT&T, since usually it was 20 or so.
Check your Tower Ugrade situation. Hopefully something is coming soon for you.

I have been consistently getting speeds lower than 80kbps down and 600up for over a month now. They haven't done anything no mater how much I call. They finally put in a tower ticket so it would be fixed in 72 hrs and I was to be notified that never happened. I'm terminating my service I can't justify paying for such low speeds. An the best part is its just the one tower right near my home the one up the road works fine.

I just did the math, downloading that slow 24 hours a day for 30 days you only use 18GB +/- so I'm not sure I understand the people that say they'd cancel if sprint removed unlimited plans. You wouldn't hit the cap at current speeds. Now if you are one of the people that actually get market average speeds I could understand that logic, but the rest of us would much rather have high speed...
I want to switch to Verizon, I just can't afford double cost for half the minutes, and data. I'm unlimited everything with sprint. I would trade it for a tiered plan that had Verizon service...just not at double the cost. Verizon has great service but for how cheap it is to run these networks they are priced too high.
you can also check here for tower maintence which is a little more specific than that other link posted before.

Could always jump to VZW and enjoy their constant outages while I understand that crappy of a speed is as bad as a outage still. Lol hopefully there are some upgrades for ur towers soon.

What sort of latency/ping is everyone seeing when on 4G (not LTE)? Mine is never much lower than 180ms, whereas my husband's Samsung Glide is always around 95ms. Makes a big difference!

It may seem much slower but in reality 90 ms is so fast a human probably cannot measure it. The average blink is 300-400 ms. Do you have other times from the same phone model in your area? My last speedtest in Dallas had a ping of 67ms.
As long as your speeds are comparable to other phones on the network, I would not worry too much about it.

Actually, I just got back from the AT&T store and tested their two models. Average latency of about 170ms. I was also told by the door greeter that they had another customer in yesterday for the same issue. So I guess it's the norm for this phone?
Slightly OT, but the guy at the store said that my phone may be much more susceptible to interference than other phone models. Does this sound plausible? Because at my home there are some obvious dead spots for the Note that work fine with my husband's Samsung Captivate Glide and my friend's unlocked Droid 3.

Probably not the phone but network where you are at. The time I gave you of 67ms was with my Galaxy Note in the area I live. I have noticed the wifi signal pickup on my Galaxy Note is not as good as with my skyrocket. It still works but the signal registers as lower. I have not noticed any big changes in reception but all phones can be different based on the placement of the antennas etc.
About 80-120. Usually more like 90-100 though.

Could be a carrier problem. If you have others around you that have smart phones and are on the same carrier, ask them to run the speed tests and see if they get the same results. If so, call your carrier to open a trouble ticket to have it checked.
it's probably an isolated "local" problem because im getting great lte speeds.

4G hasn't happened in my area so 3G and wifi is all I get. However, 3G is not that slow. Just ran speedtest and got 617 down and 697 up.
The speeds the OP is showing are definitely a problem. If there is only one cell tower servicing the area around your school there could be an isolated network issue. Not sure if it still works but you used to be able to dial #tt and get straight through to network support to find out.

I just tried #tt and it is no longer a valid command. No one else in my school gets such terrible data speeds but me and I'm wondering if it is due to throttling because I've used about 4gb this month and my school is not very techy and even though many people have smart phones most don't use a whole ton of data.

Now when you say your the only one in your school that gets slow speeds is that compared to other Verizon users? Or comparing to AT&T, T-mo and Sprint? Personally I myself would be only concerned if yours is the only Verizon phone that has such a slow speed.
I myself work in public education, I am a onsite tech at 4 Elementary Schools and I work in a newer developed area in our district and with that AT&T and T-mo can be spotty in the schools I cover. And because of how the buildings are my phones get hit pretty hard with searching for signal because of where my office is at in each of the schools, but I get the best connection compared to the other carriers. I actually have a T-mo provided work phone that I actually just forward to my Verizon phone so I can actually get my work calls. Either way, it could just be the building your in causing issues, but if there are other Verizon users that are having the problem then that's probably the case. And even then it might just be the rezound getting interference from something, possibly even the wireless that you have at the school.
Or could be the ROM, but if you have other verizon friends with no issue, and a rezound friend without the issue, I would say get it replaced at Verizon.
the school building is probably hurting your speeds... as in concrete walls lol

How can I get Sprint to respond to this slow data?

I've been calling every day, every day they tell me no data outages in my area. Have another Sprint user in my building getting same speeds. I've resorted to installing a 3G roaming PRL because they simple won't do anything about it. Before 9/4 the data was fine, slow at times, but I could at least stream Pandora, etc...

Is it common that when the roll out vision data speeds go to crap before they get better? It's funny as it only seems to be in this 2 mile range around my work. By my house, I'm getting 3G speeds above 1400kbps (which I've never got before). I've told Sprint that, told them that I've updated my profile, basically told them everything and that I just want them to tell an engineer despite what their system shows, that their is slow data in this address range... Still nothing.
Guess I'll just get my contract terminated for roaming...

I have read that speeds can be affected during the switch over. In my personal experience, it also depends on geographic location. I live in Lake Worth FL, I get 2mb down and almost 900kb up from my house on 3g. Now, I work in North Miami Beach, I'm lucky if I get 100kb down and 3 kb up down here, even on 5 bars. This is even before the LTE rollout. Just because you have a good signal, doesn't mean your data will be fast. I think some areas may be over subscribed, they just don't have the bandwidth available for all their devices in some areas. Hopefully this will get better as they rollout LTE in my area.
If they are upgrading to vision it would be more likely that your speeds would fluctuate rather then stay at a constant low. They may be repairing towers in that area and pushing the load onto remaining towers. That essentially cripples available bandwidth. Had to put up with a similar issue for almost 3 straight months. They should tell you if there are any repairs or improvements being done. Have you tried having your call escalated?

+1 on this. That was going to be my recommendation as well.
CR will probably credit you which looks like you are entitled with the crappy service. And yes, data gets worse during NV upgrades, especially when they are working on the backhaul to the towers. It gets worse before it gets better then you will know its almost time to light up LTE. in short, nothing much more you can do other than leave Sprint but I'm thinking it will be regretted in the end.

My wife and I are with Sprint as well and we both strongly believe that Sprint throttles 4g LTE at 5 gb download. Every month when I hit 5 gb I can't connect to 4g until the next billing cycle. We are going to see how Spark is this year and if it's as piss poor as the current 4g we are jumping over to AT&T.

Agreed. If you aren't in a roaming area, they shouldn't be throttling you. Make sure that you update your PRL and profile, reboot, then call them. There are a lot of factors, including times of day, towers from which you're pulling, &c. They know this info, so I suggest that have your facts before calling.

No throttling. 5gb isn't anything. I've used close to 100gb with no problems. For years I've easily gone over that 5gb mark. Someone here in another thread used almost 200gb. Just sounds like tower overload. New customers around Christmas time makes sense. Sprint should be able to see that.
Edit: For anyone that wants to see the unthrottled usage lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592679&page=4
I'm having a similar issue. Will have to keep a close eye on it. I thought it was just my phone or the towers acting funny

Ya if data is not fast enough to stream some video in an area with lte coverage I would call and see whats up. Or go take your phone to another of the same model and compare signal strength. You can go into testing settings and make sure both are on same tower and see actual signal dBm.

Yes that is sprint lte at its best I love this phone/service. I cant see me needing spark untill phones have 4k displays and 4k video out. Maybe for really congested/populated cities its needed. wimax never made it here and lte is pretty new for us too, spark is probably years away for me anyways.
