Picked up an NT finally now that the CM9 looks like it is around the corner.
NT came OOB with 1.4.1... but I'm confused as to which way to best root it? Mind you I've never rooted a device before, JB iPhones yes... first real Android device (other than my Android running over WM on my HTC Touch Pro 2).
From the DEV section it looks like 1.4.1 can be rooted without having flash back to 1.4.0... but it appears it's not 100%. I try to avoid flashing whole updates as much as possible... I'm an old school electronics guy where EEPROMs were good for 20-30 writes before they went in the bin.
So if it's possible I would rather root a 1.4.1 and block OTA... or should I just do the 1.4.0 downgrade that also installs CWM?
IMHO I would revet back to 1.4.0 using This
And then Root using This
From your comments I believe you have already visited the the 2nd thread I linked. Do NOT use any of the files from the OP. Brianf21 posted a file yesterday that is the zero'd out image (smaller) with his latest Update.zip all in one file. It's the only file you will need. Use that file and skip any steps that say to copy update.zip to the Root of the SD card.
There is controversy as to if rooting 1.4.1 using that method leaves side-loading intact. Some say yes, some no. Avoid the controversy and REVERT to 1.4.0.
My .02
Edit: I spoke incorrectly. You will need the file linked in post 14 if you will be using the windows method as it contains the Image Flashing routine. Just use Brian's file when the instructions tell you to browse for the image.
I ended up just using Brian's image from yesterday over 1.4.1... so far so good, have the GApps, can DL from the market, etc.
If anything gets weird, I'll drop down to 1.4.0 and re-root.

Can you side-load app's?
Does the unknown sources toggle remain checked?
Is NTHiddenSettings functioning properly?
Thanks!
Edit: Saw your post in the other thread. Guess the answer to the above is NO...
Yeah, I think the 1.4.1 sideloading isn't a 100% guarantee. Perhaps if the NT was at 1.4.0 and then upgraded, there might be something that allows it to be re-opened.
But for a factory fresh 1.4.1... I think it's a no-go.
Will revert to 1.4.0 tomorrow and re-root.
Do I still need to block OTA with Brianf's image or does it cover that?

I did .... using the Titanium Method (3 files). My version now shows 9.9.9
I too am running 1.4.1 and rooted using Brian's update.zip. The Unknown Sources doesn't stay ticked, and the hack to get it working doesn't work. But I can sideload apps using adb, no problems. I've gotten several live wallpapers I'd be collecting over the last few weeks installed.
I managed to sideload SQLite Editor and manually did the FOTA changes and also edit the "Install_Non_Market_Apps" key in the Settings.db file.
Managed to install Amazon and side-load a bunch of other stuff since. Dunno if the key setting will survive a reboot, will try later tonight.
EDIT: It appears as if doing a manual edit in Settings.db will allow sideloading even after reboot.
I rooted my NT two days ago using Albert's SD card method (thanks!), and thought I had for sure used NT Hidden Settings to block OTA. This morning I saw that the update had been applied, and a few things on my NT are now broken.
Now I cannot access the market.
Other gapps are broken now too including Talk, Currents, and gmail.
Can I just follow the steps to make an SD card and re-apply root, or do I need to do a wipe or reset first?
What are my options?
Thanks everyone!
I had this happen to me on 1.4.0 I just started all over and MADE sure I seen the 9.9.9
So I would just re-flash my SD-card with CWM, boot into CWM, wipe, and start over again? I'm fine with starting over, I just want to make sure I don't mess anything up during the reset process!

FWIW, If you re-root with Albert's SD Card Method (4.50), blocking future ota updates is a simple one click process (it's now an option in NT Settings). Or, just sideload the latest NT Settings (released on 2/15) and you're good to go.

back up and running
Ok, so I wiped and re-rooted and now everything's just about back to normal. I've tried the built-in OTA block a few times, but my version number still says 1.4.2. Maybe it's like the unknown sources setting and I have to reboot or wait awhile...
I'll just make sure to make some backups this time. Good news is albert's method still works on 1.4.2, but he knew that already I guess.
I'll be back if anything goes wrong, but thanks everyone!
I purposefully updated mine to 1.4.2 (from 1.4.1 rooted) and was able to use brianf21's bootable root sd card successfully without having to wipe anything.
1.4.2 is completely rootable, I was able to use CWM with a flash zip to get it all on there. I'm hoping to release my work this weekend, I'm just waiting for some files that should allow it to work for 8GB devices too.

He method and files till work for 1.4.2? Great, I just bought my NT the other day.
I just got my new NT in the mail. Should I use the sd card method over the system it has, or should I go back to 1.4.0 and root that. My wifes NT is 9.9.9 and works well. Also, I don't have a sd card yet, is there anyway to root my new tablet without going to the store? (looks like the tablet shipped with 1.4.1)
Thanks
You could just order an n2a card and be done with it. No rooting and you'll have an Android tablet when the n2a card arrives.

Or you could avoid n2a and all of their schemes. Everything they offer is available for free and they are truly assholes for selling it. I don't give a **** it you are "just selling the sdcard" They are a **** company making profit from the folks that put in all the effort.
I rooted my wife's Nook and my phone, so I should be able to complete root without buying someone's card, just wondering if I should go back to 1.4.0 or root 1.4.1.

Rooting via the SD card methods available works on any firmware released. Rooting 1.4.2 gives you the latest bug fixes from B&N though.

I'd just use one of the root cards and root 1.4.2
Updated to 1.4.2 lost my market
I rooted my nt when it had 1.4.1 on it, then two day's ago the update came out, I never saw 9.9.9 on my os info, My nook is still rooted I think anyway, no market and gmail. But I can still install apk's from my sd card.
What should I do to get my market working? And also make sure I can block OTA updates? Thank You.

I personally think blocking OTAs is a little silly considering how easy this device is becoming to root. However to get Market back and stuff all you have to do is take one of the sd root methods and use that, this will restore the files to /system that got removed by the OTA
Checkit
OTA block by Indirect's 9.9.9 Titanium Patch and CWM recovery flash
I believe that 9.9.9 patch prevents the file from every being downloaded and I believe the custom recovery prevents the File from ever installing. Any OTA that comes down from Barnes and Noble Requires STOCK recovery to install.
I also prove my Root SD cards will Root the 1.4.2 updated 16gb Nook Tablet!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8AUMKvxnI9M
when powering back on nook it says reset to factory
{So I have used your method before but now when I go to reboot after making a root card all it says is would you like to restore to factory settings, I have also tired using the usb to boot up when the others failed. Now I am stuck with a stock nook with 1.4.2. Am I missing something?}
So after downloading 4.6 everything worked perfect, and got the 9.9.9
Thanks for the hard work.
Hi
Trying to root my table tand get it to work, I have not succeeded something operational yet. I have made a root & CWD sd card, and in the process had backed up my tablet. I copied thgis backup to my PC as I had to try different things with the sd card.
So now I d like to restore (to start afresh) but... I google it around, and dont find any procedure!?
I am sure it is known... and am dummy... but can't invent neither.
I need use those files, because I still can't read .apks and try the apk based nook restore.
How should I go?
Your help appreciated
Thanks, Agnes
Restore method did not work....²
I have found my 3 neurons and realized I could just re do a CWD sd card, do a backup, and then take the card to my PC and add the other backup aside there (they are orgnaized by folders and date)
Then back to the tablet, go CWD / restore... but I only get a MD5 error and it does not want. Same with advanced restore.
I finally found this very simple method from Adam to restore to 1.4.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402190
It semt it worked, but then when it starts again... I get the same broken rooted / whatever I have now .
Is your device 16GB or 8GB model? depending on that i can tell you what to do.
16GB model has more development and some modified stock ROMs , i even made 1 of them check here:

16Gb device now messed uo....
Hi Veronica, thanks for the reply. I am deseprately in need of expert advice here, instead of guessing and trying...
I have a 16 GB Nook Tablet, that was bought with 1.4.0.
I now seriously again need to make a restore, as I did some bad mismanipulation and my tablet is now out of order:-(
One of my best chance I guess would be use one of the backups I have (I have several copied on my HD), but after I formatted and wrote on my SD card several times (is this the reason?), now when I try restore, I have this MD5 error.
I hope I would not run into other problems, as it seems my prop.build may have changed in the process....!
May I ask you to have a look what I did, and then confirm it would be wise try the restore you provided in the thread?
The history what I did:
- I initially had a 1.4.0 with some tweaks to sideload apps, and could no more sideload with 1.4.2 of course (and that is all I need: be able get Kindle, Le Monde, and few other apps!). I understood I had to root and was ready to try get CM7 on my internal drive, and tried a few things (Rooting with Indirect's method, ...), and could not get it to work, until I got very close:
- I restored 1.4.0 using this thread restore 1.4.0 from Adam Outler. It worked fine and apparently erased some of the problems I had that were previously preventing me to move with rooting etc.
- Then I used Albert Wertz's Backup of a rooted 1.4.0. It worked. It seems it had already OTA bloked (displaying version 9.9.9 or so)
- Then I was to install CM7 using this tutorial from ebook-reader, based on this Celtic XDA thread ("team B") (choosing the internal method) , and used the CWM flasher apk. That is where somewhere I did a mistake: after backing up and erasing all data, I somehow stupidly rebooted and got in trouble, and restored the old B&N I don't know how.
- Willing to go back to stage 1, I tried using the 1.4.0 basic restore from Adam Outler, but that did not work anymore, like if my build.prop had been changed in the process (where?)
It said "assert.failed: getprop ("ro.product.device" = blaze" or something alike.
- Then I got a long powercut (am in Africa) and some sleep
- The worse is, the NOOK does not boot and work anymore at all, it is stuck on "read forever" screen
- The curse is, I cant use other restores I have, it says MD5 mismatch
- I also can't use simple root procedures (with CWM and installing zips), as my basic system seems corrupted.
I guess a proper restore may work if I manage to do it, but I wonder what happened with my prop.build and why it was mentionned up there (was it changed in some of the process) - and whether it will create more trouble.
Your advice will be very precious!
Thanks, Agnes

Thanks for post the whole history of what you've done 'cause pfff that saves a lot of time.
Now in this part "after backing up and erasing all data, I somehow stupidly rebooted and got in trouble"
1. Did you get to flash CM7 succesfully
2. When you mention you backed up means you backed up CM7?
3. when you mention erasing all data you mean only wipe data (factory reset) or did you wiped maybe formatted anything else?
4. What method did you use to format your sdcard
Edit: i have a MIUI backup that i made for a guy that could not install it with the other way (install .zip) of the same ROM. So at list try it for now to see what happens, if it works then go ahead and flash back the ROM you want, and always make sure to check the md5 of what you download.

Thanks Veronica. Here is as much as I remember:
1. Did you get to flash CM7 succesfully?
No. While following the procedure, I did some mistake after backing up and before even trying to installing CM7. I did not realize I was in CWM within my existing rooted 1.4.0 (using the .apk), so somewhere I wiped and rebooted... to realize I was rebooting into nothing! Or actually into the original 1.4.0 B&N. And then I did some attempts to go back step by step (like restoring that 1.4.0 from Adam then the rooted 1.4.0 from Albert) and somehow went into more troubles.
2. When you mention you backed up means you backed up CM7?
No, since I did not go so far as to install CM7.
I have a backup of my initial (tweaked) 1.4.2 system, then one of Albert rooted 1.4.0 (not mine), then another one of a Nook normal OS that worked (not sure, I think 1.4.2) at some point later.
These backups were OK, I used at some point, I don't understand why then I got this MD5 errors.
3. when you mention erasing all data you mean only wipe data (factory reset) or did you wiped maybe formatted anything else?
I used the command within CWM, both to wipe data and cache
4. What method did you use to format your sdcard
I usually use Acronis Disk Manager, a quite powerful programme to change partitions on disks and also handle formatting. When I really want to make sure, I first use HP USB formatting tool, and then sometimes check on Acronis to get the partitions I want. I am not sure in what order I did that time, but was not using partitionning in fact.
I will redo it all again as I wonder if it is not a mistake on the disk that lets it misread the MD5, as I think my backups were fine.
I don't undestand:
- why my MD5 are wrong, and is it something I can fix by properly reformatting mys disks
- what is this story with "assert.failed: getprop ("ro.product.device" = blaze" and where I may have changed the build.prop. Is it somehting that will bother me further or should push me into one direction rather than another.
I will try your MUI backup. (What means MUI?). (It may take ma a day or 2 to download this through Lesotho poor internet :-(
Thanks and wil tell you what happens!

Try formatting your sdcard again, i recommend SDFormatter. Sometimes sdcard can be the cause of many weird errors and issues.
Then copy back one of your backups within clockworkmod >> backup folder
If no go with that then try the following.
* First you need adb working
Here is a tutorial i made about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22049356&postcount=1
* Plug your NT to your PC using USB cable
* Download the file attached which is 1.4.0 stock build.prop, uncompress it, put it in the same folder adb is located and push it using adb while in CWM
> cd path-of-adb-tools
> adb devices
(verify that you get a code with numbers and letters)
> adb remount
(if this command does not work for you then please mount /system manually from mount&storage > Mount /system in CWM)
> adb push build.prop /system
* Unplug cable
* Try Adams acclaim_update.zip again ( preferably with nothing else in your sdcard only that .zip
* Report back
~ Veronica
OK I now was finally able to download the files.
- I guess I'll try first what you suggested with the MIUI backup after a proper reformat.
(I am just not sure which CWD file to use, as many dont leave any space on the card to put backups....)
- Then the ADB method if the 1st one does not work.
Though, part of the ADB tutorial is this "ADB root hijack" where they say you must already be rooted - that is not my case....
I'll try do tomorrow... and report! So glad to have your help here.
Successfully restored MIUI backup... what next?
YES!
@Veronica, I have been able to restore your MIUI backup!
I am not sure what it is... it looks like for a phone.... but it seems Market is working YEAH! 1st time on this Nook!!!!
Veronica you are a queen !!!
May I ask you what should be my next step now?
As a reminder, I basically want to get here Kindle (because I bought this Nook for Xmas for my Mozambican husband without realizing B&N does not have any Portuguese books, while Amazon does) and a few more apps I like. So this would do! But I d like make sure:
- my system is more or less stable
- I don't get messed up with more OTA updates
So I wonder:
- is this system recommendable? This is rooted, right? Should I prefer Launcher or Zeam Launcher here?
- should I rather use another system? Go into CM7?
Since I dont have even any Nook here behind, I am afraid of more troubles following the normal procedure, should I?
- Do I need at all to set the normal version of Nook behind (like I could use with the Nook button app) - in fact, I don't really care...
HELP PLEASE!!!! Nook 8Gb!
Can somebody help me? I bricked my nook tablet 8Gb!!
This is the whole story:
1) Rooted my NT
2) Used this apk to install CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458630
3) Tried to flash CyanogenMod 7 ROM but while it was flashing the tablet blacked out and rebooted
4) Now the tablet is stuck at the READ FOREVER screen
5) I can boot in CWM holding power+N button, but it can't flash anything, it freezes anytime I try to flash something.
6) I followed these 2 guides to unbrick my NT but they didn't work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470910
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562130
Can anyone help me restore my NT at least to stock???
Please I'm desperate!!!!
@JohnDorian, Seems you got very similar problem to mine...!
It seems we got the same problem trying to do the same thing... So the same solution may work? (the only difference beeing I have not tried the unbrick mehods you did)
What I just did with Veronica's guidance, and worked for me:
- I created a 50MB sd card to boot into CWD, using this
- booted into CWM with it
- copied onto another SD card the MIUI backup Veronica provided earlier in this thread:
http://minus.com/mwIltnw1I/4f - NT_MIUI_Tweaks_backup.zip | md5: 3518f9a3289ca6e97b569777873b899b
- inserted it and did restore. It just worked and provided something that seems acceptable!
And at least, next steps may be possible...
I hope it works with you too!
Thank you for your answer!
Will this work also with my 8Gb NT?

Since I dont have even any Nook here behind, I am afraid of more troubles following the normal procedure, should I?
- Do I need at all to set the normal version of Nook behind (like I could use with the Nook button app) - in fact, I don't really care...

Hello im glad to see you're back, about launchers, addons & apps it all depends of your likes.
What i gave you is MIUI ROM (operative system) without major modification (as-is) and yes it has zeam launcher but all can be modified.
I'm personally not a fan of gingerbread CM7 because i really like the eye candy of MIUI and even stock (which the buttons and menus are very similar to MIUI) so i use MIUI.
About stock i didn't mind using it even though i don't use B&N application and buy books from them buy i enjoyed the eye candy (interface/GUI), now that @cobrato released MIUI i immediately switched to that as im a huge fan of MIUI.
I have always used GO launcher as my main launcher but now im starting to use ADB in MIUI because it manages better the grid feature.
All systems you're going to find already come rooted which is standard and is the feature #1 of custom and stock ROMs, without root there is no fun. If you're in this community is because eather you have a rooted device or you came to learn how to root it and other stuffs.
If you like B&N stock ROM but don't use their apps and services you can bypass the registration and forget about the OTA updates, you can also apply on top of that the OTA block with titanium backup if you want to make sure. That is the methods i used and never ever had a problem. I also recommend you that when you flash a stock ROM do the whole procedure of OTA block and don't guess is already blocked, nothing better than do it yourself manually.
If you decide you want to make use of B&N services then you can eather go back to stock for a complete B&N experience or just install their app from the market if you're on CM7, CM9 or MIUI that is, nothing fancy but it does the job.
I have mentioned days ago that i was going to make a thread for MIUI users with how-tos and info about set it up but i've got very busy with many bricked devices around lol, but i eventually will do.

I don't have a 8GB nook tablet to upload a backup of stock ROM and actually is very important to have nobody has been nice to upload it and post it in development section. Anyway let me give you the link of the official update to see if that helps, i was checking yesterday and they provide one for both i think there is not a separate section for the 8GB model so i assume that update is for both models containing 1.4.2

right you dont know how, ok let me download the file and see if i make a kind of acclaim_update.zip for you to try.
can't flash any rom as a flashable.zip and backup folder? have you tried both?
~ Veronica
No, I can't flash anything from CWM...
As I only recently purchased the Nook Tablet 16gb with version 1.4.2. There is overflow of information in these forums that has confused me and need some direction. I would like to know if the first thing I should do is to Root it and disable the OTA updates? (eventually I will want to install a stable version of CM9 ICS)
If so, which method is the best to do this? Does rooting happen internally on the NT or do I have to have something set on the SD all the time?
What other abilities will this give me?
Is there a huge benefit to rolling back to 1.4.0 (is it even possible?)?
Guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks !
If you use B&N services/apps then i would stick with stock but 1.4.0 as is the best, no limitations about sideloading which is a must have.
If not still stock is ok i like the eye candy, but if you go for complete access to google play (android market) access then i would go for MIUI, CM7 or CM9.
And better way learn from them is to try them all. My fav is MIUI i love the interface is similar to stock actually in the way of the settings, menus, buttons.

Thanks for the response Veronica.
Are you saying that if I just want to stay at a rooted state with stock B&N then I should downgrade to 1.4.0 and then root?
Also, are you recommending that if not using any B&N serviced, which I'm not using any B&N services, then I should Downgrade to 1.4.0, root and then load MIUI (or other Rom)?
I would like to take some baby steps and try to really learn as I go along. For instance I've seen CMW being mentioned many times and I haven't been able to find how exactly I install it on the NT. Also ADB for 'pushing' installs onto the NT and I haven't been able find guide for it. Do I need to use both CWM and ADB or ADB first to install CWM and then use CWM to install. And how do these fit with the Rooting processes and is all this done on the microSD card or internally on the NT? I'm just so confused in EXACTLY where does one start.
I installed ICS on the HP Touchpad and that was soooooo easy compared to what I'm finding with the NT.
Thanks again.

Oh you really don't know where to start, i know with all what we have going right now it can be very confusing BUT for your luck @AlbertWertz have made so many videos explaining step by step of almost everything the rooting part eather internally by using adb and external by using an sdcard.
The main idea is ok i have a 16GB NT with stock 1.4.2 i like and use B&N apps i was to stick with stock but i wan't be able to use the most features as possible and not figure it out and troubleshoot so many things in the way then for those people i recommend stock 1.4.0 simple than that.
Albert and I have posted modified, rooted stock 1.4.0 ROM's so you simply get into CWM and flash them, period.
But If you are the kind of person and also want to learn how to do it from scratch and modify to your taste then use one of the so many methods posted in development section to root: there are 2 options root by using adb and root by using a bootable sdcard.
Brief history of the creation of the sdcard method: many users were having issues setting up adb and making drivers for nook tablet get recognized by windows so they were not able to root so it is why sdcard method was released. and as users were having issues setting up sdcard aswell was created the "burn this image to your sdcard with win32diskimager", method which still some users have issues and i remember have read of one user that after user that bricked his device using the last method mentioned... Oh well there is always risk!!!
PROS OF SDCARD METHOD: no use of PC
CONS OF SDCARD METHOD: you still have to setup your sdcard, format it with fat32 file system and set first partition to Active or LBA: boot (linux) and if that does work then burn the root image using to your sdcard win32diskimager.
...Wot you thought was going to be that easy? nah...
By the other hand if you are the kind of user that don't use (maybe hate) B&N service/apps then good news you have 3 options to pick from: CM7, CM9 and MIUI.
Now if you want to go straight to one of the ROM's mentioned (CM7, CM9 or MIUI) then you simply can prepare a sdcard to boot ClockworkMod (CWM) from it . For that please check here -METHOD #1 and here to know how to set it up!.
Once you re able to boot into CWM from sdcard you can now go ahead and download the ROM of your preference, copy it to your internal sdcard (MyNOOK) and flash it in CWM >> Install .zip from sdcard >> choose .zip from internal sdcard >> pick the copied .zip package and flash it, reboot device and VOILA!

There you will find my tutorial for install and use ADB, and as i say San google is your friend you can find anything refering to the nook tablet if you google like this:
"adb tool" nook tablet,xda
"root" nook tablet,xda
"sdcard root" nook tablet, xda ... etc.

I have two nt one with rooted 1.40 and the second is stock 1.42 with B&N repartion. I am concerned that I might have problems with Installing CM7 because of the B&N 1.42 partions. Shoudd I create a sd with CWM and CM7 I don't use B&N at all.

First thing I would do is go back to BN and have them repartition it for you. It will wipe everything from your nook when you do this but if you just started with it then there is no need for worry.
After that just root it and you will be able to sideload any app you want and have access to the market.
I haven't really read why 1.40 is "better" but mine and my buddies are on 1.42 and can do anything we need to with it after being rooted.

I know this question wasn't addressed for me, but the answer to your question is that it wouldn't matter. If you repartitioned your device at B&N it just changes the space allocated for the different partitions and won't affect the ability to install CM7. Though I believe with 1.4.2 you would need to boot your device via the charging cable to have it run from the sd card, whether it be CWM or CM7. How you install CWM and flash CM7 is up to you on that part.

Hmm, if just by rooting you are able to install any Android app, then what is the need to load CM7, CM9 or MIUI?
With the stock nook root, Google Play doesn't recognize the nook as a proper android and there are lot of games or apps unavailable to you even if you try to modify the build.prop files within the system folder to mimic another device (i tried T_T)
I personally didn't like any of the barnes and noble interface thats why I went for CM7. I was kind of hoping for bluetooth as well, but from what I'm reading on the android dev part of the forums, the hardware might not support it. With CM7/CM9 it's just more customizable so if you were looking for a cheaper tablet alternative you would root it through those means. But if you like the barnes and noble content, you would root it through stock.
Also with videos, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe with the stock root, even with MX player, HW decoding is only available to mp4 formats, while on CM7 and the other roots, you have larger variety:
"HW Decoding is limited to 3GP, 3G2, MP4, M4V, MKV, WEBM, H.264 (Baseline/Main/High profile) up to 1920x1080, MPEG-4 Simple/Advanced Simple profile up to 1920x1080, & H.263" <- succulent in another post
I'm the in exact position of the OP. Someone gave me a Nook Tablet the other day and all the root/ROM info out there in overwhelming to take in.
Some people are saying there's issues booting to an SD card with 1.4.2, some people don't seem to have a problem. What's the deal here? I've followed every guide to a T and can't get mine to boot off an SD card so I can flash CWM...
(I don't intend for this to be a thread jack. I'm hoping it will also help the OP)
I've been rooted since December 2011 on the Nook Tablet....I rooted when I was on 1.4.0 and now have the blocked OTAs and tablet shows 9.9.9 as version. I did the root option where I could keep the tablet feel, but still have access to the B+N items that were on stock. I am thinking that I want to go up to CM10/Jelly Bean on it. What is the simplest way. I wouldn't mind internally, as I know you can create the bootable SD card, but was checking for a different way. I've seen a bunch of options, but all from 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 I have a linux machine at home, but can find a Windows one for this process. Was going to PM Adam Outler, but his profile says not to...lol. I've rooted a 5-6 phones/tabs, so I'm not a complete noob, but would just like the easiest path.
Use this method.

Btw it doesn't matter what Rom you're on when your flashing.

I figured that would be the best way...just wanted to see if there was anything else kicking around...didn't want to butcher the process.
