I want a custom ROM that should atleast not have HTC Sense and have a better battery life. MeanROM was perfect. But I think it's not for GSM. Please tell me it is?! >_< Otherwise recommend me a ROM as close to Mean ROM as possible for GSM.
Thank you.
Romeos is the clear winner for no-sense roms. It has a very nice look to it and great battery life, if I didn't like sense I would definitely use that as my main.

Thanks for your reply.
I have my phone on 1.49.0018 bootloader, unlocked with CWM and Superuser installed. Can I get LeeDROID on my phone or is my only option Downgrading and then switching the S-off?
You can get Leedroid on it with s on, but even if you strip sense from it it doesn't have anywhere near as good battery life as romeos.

Okay thanks. Lastly, this boot managed you mentioned in your signature, is it kind of a dualboot thing? Cuz I'd love to have a gb3d rom along with virtuous ics. Can you link me on how to get this?

It certainly is a multi boot app, only thing is you need a high class (speed) SD card or it lags a lot as the extra roms run straight from the card. As for a link just search for boot manager pro in the play store, it isn't free though.

Virtuous Inquisition is the best for ics(ice cream Sandwich aka Android 4.0). It has the least bugs. And it´s stable!

Hello guys. This is my first post in this great forum, I wish I found it earlier.
Anyway, here's my story.
I bought HTC Evo 3D GSM a month ago and this is my first smart phone. I like this phone alot. As my knowledge of android system increased I was tempted to flash a custom ROM and Kernel, which I finally gave into 3 days ago xD.
I flash LeeDroid's latest ROM and Kernel. It feels fast but here's the problem. When I played games like Fruit Ninja, BMX Boy, Temple Run before rooting & flashing they were smooth, but now I feel abit of choppiness/laggyness as I play. Also scrolling down through settings also has this choppy feel, but it is not noticeable to quick glance. Also, I had overclocked it to 1.78Ghz not that I was in desperate need of such a speed or anything, just wanted to have this kind of feeling when you know your phone is smart & cool . Please help me out however you can guys. I like my device with new ROM and Kernel but this problem is not letting me sleep in peace.
Different question: I heard that you should not let the battery drain to 0% if you are on custom ROM/Kernel. I never let that happen currently, but in future what might happen who knows right. What happens then?
Another question: What overclocking app do you guys use? My battery is running out fairly quickly since installing new ROM, any suggestions?
What kernel you are using...?

Kernel Version 2.6.35.14-LeeDroiD-shooter_u-V5.4-g39cc36f
[email protected]
#18 SMP PREEMPT Sun Apr 1 22:32:43 BST 2012
ROM Version LeeDroid_3d_v5.4
I used that Rom and kernal for about 3 months, it can be very smooth with the right settings. Install System Tuner, its a great app for overclocking. I found that the best settings for me were CPU min at 192, max at 1.51 (although higher frequencys are good for benchmarks, I found my phone would hang and become unstable at 1.78 and higher)
Set the govner to "lag free" in system tuner there is a menu called boot settings, use this to make your changes stick - for cpu settings select "initd script" leave "force 2nd core online" as disabled, forcing it on all the time uses battery, leaving it disabled means it is only used when the system requires it. Mine was pretty smooth most of the time, also the occasional reboot helps speed things up a bit.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
Seen any improvement? Have a play around with different govners, on-demand was quite good too. The real question is why don't you flash ice cream sandwich?? It's stock kernal so no over clocking, but its mega smooth and fast anyway, temple run works great.

Hi and thank you for responding. I have tested System Tuner as you recommended and it works great. Although I'm not sure whether the improvement came from the reboot I did just now or from the change in frequencies.
As I stated in my original post that this is my first smart phone, I have no idea if ICS is faster than Leedroid ROM or not. I see from your post that it is mega smooth and fast but are able to use your phone fully? For example, they said the 3d camera won't work under modified ICS. Since the official ICS hasn't come out yet I am wary to try ROMs based on ICS. Please correct me if I wrong knowledge/common sense , thanks again for helping out a noob.
Leedroid is quick and stable and I had no problem with it at all, so if you like how it looks and how its setup stick with it.
Some Ice cream sandwich roms with sense 4 are not 100% working yet,
but the leaked version is a complete manufacturer Rom with everything working (3d and everything) plus you've done the hard bit by rooting your phone. Read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...v.3.0.2 [3.08.401.1][Sense 3.6 Android 4.0.3]
I've been using since it was released and I find it better for battery life and smoother than any gingerbread Rom, if you are s-off just make a backup in clockworkmod (incase you want to go back) then follow the instructions in that thread, you don't need to flash the firmware just follow the instructions for the Rom.

I'm downloading the ROM now, meanwhile I'd like to ask a few questions.
Virtuous Shooter - does this ROM work like a complete one?
Do I need to flash Kernel? My current one is LeeDroid.
My phone is S-off will it create any trouble?
Do I need to wipe off data/devik cache?
Nope its based on a fully working official Rom, everything works.
No kernel needed at at, it had stock kernel included.
Yes before you flash wipe cache and dalvik cache. Good luck!
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
Thank you very much. Gonna try it as soon as the download finishes.
Help! My phone is hung at the start up screen. The green "htc" text and a white background. It's been like this for 20 mins, what should I do? PLease help!
really? It shouldn't take that long at all, did you do a back up of the leedroid rom? Pull your battery and push volume down and power and it will start in recovery mode, select recovery and it will take you to clockworkmod recovery and you can restore your backup. No idea why it would hang, can you tell me exactly the steps you took?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
The steps I took are:
1. Downloaded and copied the ROM to the root folder of the SD Card.
2. Backed up my data using Clockwork recovery.
3. Opened ROM manager and Flashed clockworkmod recovery
4. Used the "INstall ROM from SD Card" option
5. It asked me if I wanted to reboot system to install the ROM, to which I tapped Yes.
6. Rebooted automatically and did not encounter any errors during flashing.
7. hung at htc screen.
I think it is because I didn't flash firmware, but I may be wrong.
Hmm looks pretty much right, except I don't use Rom manager.
I power the phone off, then press volume down and power to start in recovery mode, it checks the bootloader then select recocery, clockworkmod recovery will start, clear caches, choose install zip from sd, choose the virtuous zip and wait for it to install. That's the exact steps I took and it worked I did not flash the new firmware.
You are definitely s-off?
sent from my HTC EVO 3D
No I am NOT S-off
I spent many hours trying to perform an S-off without success.
I used the flash image gui app to solve that problem.
I find it virtually impossible to s-off my device.
Ah im sorry, yeah flash image GUI or fastboot is the only way to flash roms with s-on. Did you get Virtuous booted in the end?
sent from my HTC EVO 3D
You should really do a full wipe, not just caches prior to flashing from gingerbread. Give it a try it should work then
Thanks guys for your time, I resolved the issue by using Flash Image GUI to flash the Kernel first and then everything went smooth. Loving the ICS, although im running at 1.2GHz there is no lag in games.
You could use 4ext recovery instead of clockwork. It has a smart flash option for s-on. It's always better to have s-off tho (my opinion). If you have Skype, you could pm me your username and I could walk you through the s-off process tomorrow evening after my son goes to bed.
Edit: missed your last post. Glad you got it working. I'm using virtuous too and it's great. If you ever need any help, my offer still stands. Enjoy your new rom!

Sorry i couldn't give a link before.. So here is the Leedroid 3D v.5.4,
It is super fast and have no bugs atm. Trust my word I had no issues with this version. The final version was released on April. I used this when my evo3d got bricked due to a boot loop. I was new to HTC by then So this ROM is the best if you are not going for ICS.

I think to have 4g and/or 3d working, the ROM must have sense. So, as previously suggested, you would have to use something very stock like mean ROM and remove sense.
If you don't mind the sense apps being available, you could just change the launcher to something like adw ex and install replacement apps and widgets from the market. You could even freeze the sense apps to keep them from running.

First rom I stuck with for a while. Boots quick, too.
I am a NOOB at installing ROMs, I have rooted my phone and will use 4eXT to install my first ROM. I know i can only use GSM roms, but what is the best ROM for me...
I want to keep my 3D functionality and I think the Sense 4 ROMS cannot use it yet
I want a nice looking interface
and want to increase the performance and battery life
I want better sound quality? (not that important )
basically I want a all around good and stable ROM.
I think I will install KingCobra3D-ICS 1.5 but is there a better ROM there for me... also which sense 4 ROM is the best as I might try that.

It's nay bad, however I do have an issue with the latest leedroid... The index menu, the one where you can scroll through your apps etc, is way off center on the screen, the feature of scrolling is great, but the icons on the left side of the screen are to far left, and I can't seem to rectify it, some of the text of the icons are actually off screen...other than that leedroid seems quite good...

Cool ICS v10
After i tried almost every available rom for evo 3d gsm, this one is definetly the best for everyday use. 100% stable, lowest battery consumption, fast, in one word - best!!
Hi Guys,
All apologies, I could not find reference to this question anywhere for the HTC Evo 3d forum but my forum foo is not yet strong. So if you'd like to hit me with the D3rp Bat feel free, but provide linky to reference as well if you could.
So I'm going to be upgrading my phone to a Samsung Galaxy Note II and am handing my HTC Evo 3D to my wife. She is entirely new to Android (and smartphones) and I want her experience to be smooth. So given that we're all still playing around with JB and lots of functionality items aren't rock solid or hammered out yet (wifi tether, for ex.) I would like to downgrade her to ICS where I can load a bunch of tried and tested ROMs that I know will be solid for her.
Question: Is there a guide to do this somewhere? I've looked, can't seem to find it.
My understanding is I'll need to reflash the hboot, kernel and rom, am I forgetting anything else? I'm currently running JB kernels and roms and my HBOOT is 1.49.1107 Rev ShooterU. My recovery is TWRP (LOVE twrp!) v2.3.1.0
Also, if I have unlocked the sim will I need to flash the sim unlock file again after downgrading?
Sorry for the nubbin questions.
Thanks folks!
You don't need to change hboot and considering you are s-off you could just flash an ics rom from recovery (after wiping ofc). Then if you want you can change your kernel as well. not sure about the sim unlock though..

You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman for answer me!
I'd need to flash an ICS Kernel too though, yeah? Simlock isn't such a big deal since I can just flash the file again from Hboot if need be. I'm currently running the 3.0.16-poonkang+ kernel but truth be told I'll likely go back to Turge's ICS Rogers build since it was rock solid and I know my wife will be really turned off of the whole smartphone experience if the phone is buggy.
Thanks again man.
The kernel comes with the rom zip file sir. As long as you are s-off there no need to flash the kernel seperately. Just wipe data, flash rom, reboot and you're good to go

If your gonna flash an AOSP based ROM, your gonna have to downgrade your hboot to 1.4 or 1.5.
Flash an AOSP ROM
I personally use TeamJB's Gangman style. Hope that helped.
The Viper3D ROM I'm running now is about 600+mb in size and I've seen that CM's are only about 200. I'm left with 400mb system space to install apps and I would like a bit more. I'm trying to steer away from a senseless ROM, but I know that might not be possible if switching to another ROM. I've downgraded to the engineering 1.4 boot loader before and had to flash the stock ROM just because most ROMs that I'm into have to be running 1.58. I just don't wanna downgrade to a 1.4 hboot and be screwed with a non-working phone. I know that I can always upgrade back to the 1.58 hboot but I'm just trying to find a good ROM to flash using the least steps as possible.
A thread has been set aside by the mods for asking about ROMs. Papa Smurf usually locks others. I'd ask here:
