My phone is Samsung Galaxy S2 and I had this bug too on v1.1 but I manage to fix it by flashing the SMSfixupdate...tar
My provider is Virgin, and I either get 302610 or Bell as my provider which I find weird.
Try to select mobile network automatically and wait for a while under mobile network settings. press thanks button if that helped u.

To my knowledge Virgin uses the Bell Mobility Network which identifies itself as 302 610, the name depends on the APN settings and possibly some internal xml settings in the ROM, if it's not showing as roaming you're probably fine using 302 610 or Bell, but if your APN settings are correct it might fix itself, otherwise you'd have to contact the ROM dev about it.

so are you saying that it's okay for me to have Bell as my network, even though my current provider is Virgin? oh and when i went to check the APN settings and it just showed a blank screen
Try this for your APN settings:
Virgin Mobile Canada
Name: Virgin
APN: inet.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC : 302
MNC : 610
APN type : <Not set>
This may or may not fix the network name issue, but it will ensure that you can use mobile data and MMS which you probably can't without. Based on everything I've read you should be fine using 302 610 or Bell, there is no separate network or cell towers for Virgin in Canada.
Thanks, apparently it didn't work.. But I'm gonna trust you about this and hopefully, I won't mess things up. I'm just afraid that Virgin might sue me or something for using a different network instead of theirs. One last question though, now that i'm gonna be using Bell as network i guess.. I'm still gonna pay my monthly plan, right?

If your phone is still sim locked you can be safe in knowing that its the right network, because if it wasn't you couldn't do anything at all on your phone, if its not sim locked and your sim would allow you to switch networks it would show roaming if you were on the wrong one, far as i know you should be fine and nobody is going to sue you or bill you extra, but this is just what i've found online so don't sue me if im wrong
haha thanks, hopefully ur right.. v1.4 came out.. I wonder if someone who's in the situation as i am got this problem fixed
apparently it's still on v1.4 :/

Bummer, well I did a little more digging and 302 610 corresponds to the MCC and MNC of the network from the APN file and since in my above post for the apn for virgin the MCC is 302 and the MNC is 610, I can pretty much confirm 100% that you are on the correct network, so it's just a display error. I had this happen the other day actually on my Bell phone when I was flashing modems, sometimes the network would display as 302610 and sometimes it would display as Bell, so you could try flashing modems, I don't honestly know which one fixed it but it's back to displaying Bell again on XXLPS.

Virgin Mobile basically comes from Bell. I have the same problem as you, but it's just a glitch since you're still on VM's network. So don't worry! Your actual network hasn't changed; this is only a fault on VM's part.
If you're using the AOKP builds of Resurrection Remix, go to Settings > ROM Control > General UI and then select "Custom carrier label" and you can change it to display "Virgin Mobile" manually.

Hi, I have a Stock T-Mobile HTC One with no Root using the stock APN below
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
APN Type: default,supl,admin,hipri
And my speeds on HSPS+ are super slow no more then 3.0MB
But when I'm using this APN settings bellow
APN: epc.t-mobile.com
APN Type: default,supl,admin,mms,hipri
I get 10.0MB UP to 20.MB but wont send any MMS. Has anyone run into similar issues on the HTC One? Is there a fix for MMS.
Thanks

I hope I am not intruding here, but this thread is the closest to what I am looking for (stock) and I figured that any one of you could probably answer this question.
I do not have direct access to the phone and need to pass this on to my son, so please dont skip any steps, assuming knowledge. I have never even held an HTC phone yet. My son absolutely loves it though and has me intrigued. ?
Anyway, he has an "HTC One" that he purchased here in the USA, at a T-Mobile store.
I know that with my Samsung, there is not only the Samsung line name (Note 2), but there is also a specific Model # that Sprint puts into the phone (in my case, SPH-L900). And then, even from there, it divides up further into US & International versions, each with its own model #, even within the same carrier.
I am thinking that maybe it is the same for the HTC One line?
My son looked in the Info" screen, but all it says is "HTC One" and nothing else.
Please, where should he go to find this information?
Or is this not relevant in the HTC world?
He wants to stay with the Factory ROM, but Root it. I know applying the wrong tools can quickly brick a phone.
Can someone help me with this please? Once I have the right tool, then I can take it from there. Thanks!

The only other two things I can think of that might work are go into the APN settings and click 'reset to default' reboot and see if it works. And try registering on another carrier in the network operators menu - you should get an error that your SIM isn't supported and then manual re-register on T-Mo.
Update: Straight Talk's website now tells you the apn setting you should be using, to do this visit the link at the bottom of this post and follow the directions. The apn settings in this post should be the settings all new users are assigned, checking the link would tell you for sure though.
Just a heads up, if you're using Straight Talk's BYOP sim card and your data quit working, you may have been transitioned to new apn settings. I read about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310215 in the Nexus 4 forums.
It seems users there lost all mobile data connectivity after their service renewed. The new apn settings seemed to have restored their data connectivity. I suggest making a second apn setting on your phone with the new settings I've posted below. The reason why I suggest a second apn is so you can easily switch between apns if you lose data connectivity on the new apn, I see it as an easy troubleshooting step down the road.
Here is the new apn
Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com

Straight Talk now let's you type in your phone number on their website to look up which apn settings you should be using, it can be found here

Unfortunately for me, the new APN settings are not working. In the mean time, I have placed a support ticket with Straight Talk to fix this issue.

From what I've gathered, there are two different At&t apn settings for straight talk's byop sim card, either att.mvno or tfdata. I use to be on att.mvno for my apn, but when I changed to their lte sim card, my apn settings became tfdata.
I'm not sure cdma phones have programmable apn settings.

I have had problems sending mms on the i777 on non-stock based roms such as cm. I had better luck getting mms to go if I disconnected from wifi and waiting for the phone to establish a data connection before sending the mms. I never had much luck with toggling airplane mode on and off to get an mms to go. If it didn't go the first time, I'd just forward the mms I was trying to send to the same person that I was trying to originally send it to, normally the forwarded one went. I decided to forward it to them because it took less time than making a new mms message all over again. hope that helps.
In the mms proxy field put
66.209.11.33 Instead or try 66.209.11.34

You may get faster speeds, but you're not getting true LTE, because our device simply doesn't have the necessary hardware.

Well it depends, are you porting your number or are you getting a new number from them? When I activated my straight talk sim card, I got a new number and was up in running in minutes, if not instantly.
I have tmobile when inserted the simcard in my z2 I've noticed that I'm not getting any internet connection so i went to Setting/wireless and networks/internet setting and downloaded all the files then I went to mobile netword and changed it to 4G Tmobile, starting that day I keep losing connection every time I have to go to mobile network and change it manually although it's set on automatic, most of teh times 4g doesn't work and I have to set it to 3g... it's really annoying
In your dial pad type in *#*#info#*#* (numbers for info)
Go to phone info
Scroll down
Select prefered network mode
Select LTE or an option for local with
Go back to your network settings and see if 4G shows up
If not change your mode back to what it was before and call tmobile because they may have to sort some issues out for you

go to your network settings, when tmobile USA shows up with 4G click it to register, once thats done, go back a menu and click on network mode and change it to LTE/HSPDA/GSM (or what ever bands are used in USA)
you should have data connection but 4G depends on how good Tmobile USA Coverage is
You may need to call TMo and ask them to do whatever they do in the backend to reset the phone to network connection. Another thing is to look at TMo support site for the correct APN settings. In my case, data was perfect but MMS would not work because the phone settings were incorrect. Basically, call TMo. They will even email you the settings.
One last thing. Try airplane mode off then on and see it that helps.

One thing I would do, is to call T-Mobile and register the IMEI so they can provision the unit. The settings on their end may have something which is preventing it to connect to it based on a previous phone's capabilities.
-----------------
I had something similar similar but it was with AT&T. In my case, it would not connect to LTE at all as it would stick on HPSA. This was because I had a S3 (UK version), which was only capable of HSPA+, and I had registered the IMEI with them prior.
I had a lot of problems getting my Z2 to work on T-Mobile as well. I finally used the following settings to get everything to work.
Create 2 APNs, the first should have the Following Settings:
Name: T-Mobile
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/
MMS proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: defaul,supl,admin,dun,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Now create a second APN with the following settings:
Name: T-Mobile GPRS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
With both of those created, go to your list of APNs and make sure your first one (T-Mobile) is selected.
These settings fixed my problems, hope you get it worked out.

It is likely, make sure the internet/mms settings are downloaded too.
Once the IMEI is registered, they will able to see what phone it is and enable the proper features which the phone is capable of.
I heard it's best to let them know as the IMEI as well because they could flag the unauthorized phones and reject it from being connected the carrier.
Hi all I need help. I had straight talk working on my Galaxy Note 1717 and then all of a sudden it stopped working altogether. I do nto know what to do. I tried resetting APN but it now wont let me.
Any help would be appreciated right away.
Thanks so much
Try entering APN settings manually. Create a new one with these settings.

APN type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: Leave it to the Default one
For some reason it wont let me change the APN settings. That is part of the issue. It was like it worked for a day and then stopped. Strange.
So you tried adding a new one, and it won't let you? There's a default one you won't be able to change.
Okay I figured out how to do the apn. HA HA! new at this. I did as you said and put in those apn settings in my phone and it is not working. Argh!

Well I'm glad you figured out how to enter a new APN. Sorry it didn't fix your issue though.
Once you added the APN, did you save it, then select it so the lil dot next to it is green? You probably did but I'm asking to make sure. Sometimes rebooting and double checking the new APN is still selected helps.
Did you install any apps or make modifications in any way prior to your service issue?
One final dumb question for you. Are you sure your bill has been paid up to date? Just checking.
Is it possible that you can try your SIM card in a friends device to eliminate the possibility of a bad SIM card?

First off the sim card works it has been tested, I went to update but it said it was up to date. I have a prepaid st card which I hace 30 days left. Now. yes I saved it and set it the apn. my phone says, " Not provisioned that is crazy!! Argh this is a pain.
Update! Okay I took my phone into a repair shop with the active sim. The phone was fine and should of worked with the active sim. They tried the active sim in another phone they had and it did not work. The sim was a bran new sim card and it was the second st sim I had been through. So something is very strange it is the weirdest thing why the phone is not working on the sim cards. I called Straight talk and they told me I had to call after 24 hours because it can take up to that time for the service to be configured on the phone. I was ticked because it has never taken that long for a sm to activate.. So I am sooooo tired of this company and all these sim issues. So I am thinking of switching companies now.
here are the apn settings i use:
Name Straight Talk
APN tfdata
Port 80
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410

So lets see.. mms works for you... is staright talk a tmo mvno? or are you using an ST AT&T sim? Do they still sell them, or did that opportunity pass? Are you using a tmo modem? what speeds do you get?

mms works.
i'm using the at&t sim.
it's still listed on the straight talk website.
the speed varies from mid teen to mid thirty mbps d/l.
I have an unlocked US Cellular S6 Edge model G925R4. I have rooted it and currently running stock ROM (Settings image attached).
I am using TMobile SIM on it and I am getting cellular network and am able to make calls. However I am having serious issues with Mobile data.
Mobile data did not work by default, I installed APN changer app and added the following settings for Tmobile:
Name: T-MOBILE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
Proxy: <Leave in Blank>
Port: <Leave in Blank>
Username: <Leave in Blank>
Password: <Leave in Blank>
Server: <Leave in Blank>
MMSC: hxxp://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: <Leave in Blank>
MMS port: <Leave in Blank>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: <Leave in Blank>
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: Leave it to the Default one
Once I do this i see data network sparsely, most of the times it does not work. Multiple reboots did not make any difference.
To change the APN I am using "Change APN" app. I see the T-Mobile entries I have made on it sometimes but sometimes i do not (screenshot attached).
I saw on a similar post about correcting the permissions of few files in system/csc/ folder - namely customer.xml and features.xml. After doing this I saw the APN settings after reboot.
But they are gone after the next reboot. So I am not sure if the permission change made much difference.
I really like the phone but at this point it is unusable because of loss of Mobile data. Is there any way to improve the situation ? Be it a different kernel, ROM, modem or anything.
Also I have tried an AT&T sim on it with appropriate APN entries and mobile data did not work for it as well. So its not a problem pertaining to Tmobile network coverage.
Id love to hear suggestions from the community as I really would like to use this phone going forward.
I have the same phone. I was using it on cricket at first and now I am using it on T-mobile. The apn should stick even though it shows the unable to view access point name settings. Access is restricted.
The only problem I have is when it connects to 4glte it has no bars and I cannot send texts messages. If you go into the service mode just set it for gsm/wcdma
Here's screenshot of mine on tmobile
*also I think you are using a different kernel
Can you list the kernel you are using? I'm not sure of that might be the problem.

Get it from this link. Make sure it's the version 9000 from 12.06.15

Thanks for the link, I flashed the kernel from the link and when i added the APN i could see both network and data working fine. Network bars were almost full, but sadly after a reboot i again see no network and loss of data connectivity. I am able to make calls though.
At this point all I have done is changed the APN (tried both epc and fast). Apart from that I havent tried anything else. Just bugs me to think that everything worked perfectly which indicates that there is no issue with the phone/kernel/ROM. But again at the end its not working .. any suggestions ?
For me I would have to go into the service menu because 4g lte would not work. So I would set it to GSM/wcdma and that's what worked for me. Internet was a little slower though
But after today
I honestly just got fed up with it and went and traded it in for the t mobile version. It's a hassle because 4g lte wasn't working and sometimes mms messages would not properly go thru.
When I was using it on cricket it worked better than t-mobile though.

I am leaning towards letting go of this phone as its too much hassle at the moment. Thing is I bought it off Ebay and at this point I am not really sure if the problem is with the phone or just the fact that I am using Tmobile SIM on a US Cellular phone. If I end up selling it I dont want someone else to suffer the same way.
Will a Tmobile specific variant be fine or will that cause similar issues ? I really like the phone but the mobile data part is really putting me off.
I too also got it off eBay the US cellular edition g925r4 and was in the same situation. I got mine for 400. But t mobile took it as a trade in for $140. A loss on my end but right now the s6 edge is $100 off so it was $579.99 minus the trade in credit I received. Also you get a year free of Netflix so that's not too bad...
The t mobile version I bought at the store works perfect mms, texting, WiFi calling it updated twice already so no issues here. Works perfect on 4g lte too
Hmm maybe I'll try swappa once before going with t-mobile. I don't want to get into contracts.
