[Q] Is my phone buggered - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi all
Got given a damaged Galaxy Ace. Replaced the cracked LCD and the phone started fine. But when I tried my Meteor(Ireland) simcard I couldnt make calls or send txts - no signal showing at all. Updated to Gingerbread, rooted it and got the unlock code but still no joy. When I check Phone Status I find that My Phone Number and Network are showing as Unknown and Service State is marked as Out of Service.
Know that this phone was going to be booked to be repaired until the owner decided that the excess he had to pay was too much so he got a different phone.
So, is my phone blacklisted/blocked or what? Is still useable as a PDA but would love to have it working as a phone.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks
John

Try checking your IMEI number (*#06#)
Defy-ing all limits.

Chek imei every time you get a second hand phone tbh

Imei the same on both *#06# and under the battery. Now a different problem. Was working fine last night when I checked the imei but today when I tried to start it, it just boot loops Think am cursed lol. Tried wipe data/factory reset as suggested in another post here but still the same.

Just flash a fresh rom via CWM or via Odin

In the process of doing that now - downloaded and renamed cooper. Downloaded S5830XWKSD_S5830METKP6_MET.zip from SamMobile. Selected both in Odin and started flash but after 25 minutes nothing has happened. Message box says

Am starting to get worried now

Have you installed Kies? If not you should do that first to get the Samsung Drivers

Have it installed - should it be running while trying flash?

NOP.. that too would cause an error. Make sure it is not running. And youre positive that the drivers are installed right?

Is it in downloading mode? Kill kies in task manager and make sure your drivers arent buggeredq
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA

Yeah - in downloading mode......Home, Vol Down and Power. Have removed and now reinstalling Kies to make sure. Will try again when I make sure that there is nothing of Kies running in task manager.

Okay! Good luck

Well, reinstalled Kies and tried again and still no joy. 7 minutes running and nothing happening. Still the exact same info in the message box

This is wierd. I never got stuck there. I can advise you to uninstall Kies and samsung drivers and then reinstall it with drivers

Tried it on a different computer and this time it seemed to go through the process but phone is still boot looping. Tried a different rom with the same result Have no idea what to do now other than taking it outside and using it as a target for my shotgun heehee

Yes. Bootloop happens everytime i flash with Odin. No big deal. Just do a wipe

Well, took a few days off from the Ace cos was getting seriously stressed with it.
Still boot looping When I go into recovery mode there is a message at the bottom -
-- Appling Multi-CSC --
Cant't access to '/system/csc/MET/system'.
If I do a wipe data/factory reset and then reboot I get this message -
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
copy_log_files_to_data :: can't mount /dataRebooting::
Tried flashing with and without sdcard and sim card - no difference
No matter what I do it won't do anything other than bootloop.
Anyone got any ideas? Am pulling my hair out right now and that's not good cos it's starting to get a little scarce on top lol.
If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know and if possible put them in simple baby steps to make sure that I can do exactly what has to be done

Anybody got any ideas????

Was hoping someone would have had an answer or even a suggestion by now

Samsung Galaxy 5 i5550 stuck?

Hi
Tried to update my galaxy 5 i5500 (europe) model with Cyanogenmod 7.1 but after the reboot the phone was stuck on the boot loop.
When i try to flash the orginal firmware from samfirware i only choose europa_v1.0.ops and then the tar file for my phone, i need to uncheck the one package first then check it again so the "one package" button is marked and ready to load the file if i don´t do it its grayed. I don´t load the files manually like the mds files who i read need to be loaded separate, like boot, phone, pda.
Just take the whole tar file and load it through one package button.
Then i press start and the phone starts to flash, after a while i got to the reboot screen when i should press on the phone reboot i cant move around here just press reboot i can do.
After that the phone boots up and i see the orginal starting logo for android 2.2 who was on it when i bought it but the phone still stucks on the android logo?!?
Anyone can help me whats wrong? tried to go down to android 2.1, still stuck on boot logo after reboot.
Odin alwAYS says big partition size but countinues anyway when i got to the first reboot menue when i should press the center button to accept reboot i see there is a error on f: who it says but maybe that dosent matter...
But then when its done i have the reset at 200sec the phone stucks on logo.
I have deleted everything on the sd card and tried again with flash with odon same result.
I can have the phone in download mode so that works anyway, but could anyone guess what could be the problem, tried different europe 2.2 versions no luck same logo , and all after the cyanogenmod who failed .
Is the phone bricked or do i do somthing other wrong here?
Same problem here
m also facing the same problem, im not liking cynogen mode for galaxy5. someone please tell me how to flash with froyo
Your phones are not bricked, but in order to get back from CM to stock firmware you will need first of all to upload this file using ODIN multiupload.com/OW3LQG8PZB
I really think this will help you in solving your issue. At least this tip worked more than once for me.

Finally no boot loop for me. i needed to manual load the files boot, phone, pda and so on with files.. not so easy to find them.
When i tried alot of "one file tar files" and choose one package as install way. boot loop was there everytime i think i got the mds files from a english android 2.2 version and then loaded every file manual and unchecked one package, boom then the phone started up again finally!
Can i now flash the phone with a one package file?
like the GT-I5500YKANEE "Sweden" because my phone is Swedish, or should i leave it with the english version on the phone?

if you could tell me the downgrade procedure it would have been a great help for me.
m not a tech savvy
@ajesh
Sure, it's already been documented by CM7 developer right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15290648#post15290648 All I have to add to psyke's explanation is that you will need to unarchive the .rar file (not the .tar itself) before uploading with Odin as Odin need a .tar file for one file upload and it can not read .rar files.
@dragonevo
Ja visst, you should be able to upload whatever firmware you want and if you ever get stuck again at boot screen after downgrading from CM to stock firmware, do not hesitate to follow the procedure with I5500-2.0.9-Downgrade.tar file.
If i want to try to flash it again i still need to fix clockwork first on the phone?
I cant flash the Cyanogenmod file direct by odin?

Everytime that you want to get back to CM you will have to install ClockworkMod first as you need its recovery in order to update firmware using a .zip file. Then if you are going back to stock firmware you will need to upload the Downgrade file via Odin so it could format your system partition with RFS file system.

Search Google for OW3LQG8PZB and then go to the homensdoamanha.com link (about the 3rd one down). Use Google Chrome to translate the page from Portuguese, or Google Translate if you don't have Chrome installed.
About 1/2 way down the comments there are some more links to possibly OW3LQG8PZB or equivalent files.
I've not used/downloaded the file myself as I just flashed my Europa with an older firmware to get it out of the boot loop, but you may not be prepared to try that.
The first link on the page for the ROM file (in Portuguese it says "Firmware: Clique aqui!") takes you to an advert page. Look in the top right corner and it will say "skip ad", and will then take you to the file on Rapidshare.
Sorry about the cryptic remarks about the file/link locations, but the forum is overly user-unfriendly to new registrants. There's quite a lot of good info on here, but it doesn't inspire me to contribute much... I wonder how many others have been put off too?!
Hope it helps you.

Same problem (almost!!)
A while ago something went wrong when flashing my phone to cyanogen mod 9. So when I booted up my phone it got stuck on the GT-i5500 logo. Now (after what seems ages of re-flashing and one click unbrick) it displays Phone---(!)----PC.
Is that good or bad?
Odin can't flash my phone either, it just gets stuck on setting up a connection or it just comes up with fail. One click unbrick doesn't work either.
HELP!!
It's a common situation. Just remove battery, restart winz if you already tried to flash once into this session, start Odin, put battery into the phone and connect it to the PC.
Usually for me it always worked this way.. the ! means that a flash process is been interruptes manually or maybe for unknown reasons (file corrupted? )

Did you install the right hotfix for your version? Every release has different hotfix!, and you have to install ONLY the last one available for your version.. so if psyke released hotfix-XXXXXXX_01 and hotfix-XXXXXX_02 you must install only the 02 ones..

Same problem, the screen blinks on boot
Hi,
I have a problem similar (or the same) as the one in the first post.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 5/Corby, I5500, the operator is TIM (Italy). I've rooted it, then installed MAD Manager, installed ClockWorkMOD and flashed the last version of CyanogenMod. It worked quite good, the only thing that didn't work was wireless tethering. However, it was very slow, because of the small RAM. So I decided to shrink the main SD partition and add a little SWAP, then enable the apposite option in the Advanced tab in Settings. But, after a reboot, it din't swapon the partition. So I enabled ADB and (throught Linux) opened a root shell and ran "swapon /dev/block/xxxxxx#p#". It worked. But I didn't want to open an adb shell or a terminal after every reboot to enable swap. I googled a bit, then read somewhere that a /system/etc/init.d script might have done the trick. So I made a little script with my PC:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
swapon /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 || echo "Unable to enable swap, please insert the SD card."
sysctl -w vm.swappiness=60;
then pushed it into /system/etc/init.d/83swapon
The filesystem is read-only
Click to collapse
I remounted /system in rw, and tried again.
No space left on device.
Click to collapse
I removed Apollo, a media player included with the rom I downloaded, and tried again, getting again "no space...".
After a bit of hacking I decided to put the script into /data, then make it executable and make a symlink in init.d that points to it.
I didn't manage to remounte read-only /system, so I didn't remount it at all.
I rebooted the phone to check that it was working, but the screen started blinking. The only thing I was able to do was removing the battery then starting it in download mode by pressing Volume down, Center and Power.
I've made a video: youtu.be/SM7dXfCa4dI
I tried to flash the stock Samsung ROM using ODIN, but ODIN makes it reboot and blink again. I don't know what to do, the link in the fourth answer doesn't work... can someone reupload that file or suggest me a better solution?
Thanks

[Q] Failed Kies Mini update now stuck on Vibrant Samsung Boot Screen

Hello,
Complete Noob here. I'm hopeful that I can get some assistance restoring my phone to a semi-useful function. I've searched these forums, and while I've found some solutions, none of them seem to work when you can get your phone past the initial boot screen when turning on the phone. Here's the story, appreciate it if you can help.
Yesterday I saw that there was an update from Samsung for the vibrant, so I installed Kies Mini on my computer and followed the instructions. It would have been nice if the program would have detected that I was running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 as a Samsung Tech person told me afterward that it wasn't compatible with that version of W7.
When Samsung heard that the screen on my phone showed a picture of a cell phone, with a orange triangle connected to a computer they said I'd need to mail them the phone and wait over a week to get a working phone. I figured I have nothing to lose at this point, and searched for a "do it yourself" solution. I found one click unbrick or something like that, and it went to work, but my phone now is stuck in the initial boot screen for the Vibrant. So all you see is "Vibrant" and "Samsung" on the phone.
I've read several posts about putting the phone into developer or restore mode, pushing combinations of the up/down vol button with the power button, etc., perhaps I'm doing this incorrectly, but nothing seems to get my computer to recognize the phone. I downloaded Odin, and the pit and pda files to start back at Eclair, but odin doesn't detect the device, nor does it have anything listed in the id-com section. I also tried the heimdall one click for the vibrant, but again it can find the device.
Couple of questions -
Can the phone be returned to a working status or should I just return it to Samsung and wait a week for the phone?
Is there any chance that I will be able to recover anything that was on the phone? I expect not, but wonder if so. I backed up my important files, but it would be nice not to have to start from scratch.
sounds like you are able to get your phone into download mode, but odin is not recognizing, which means we have a driver issue. Put your phone into download mode, and then uninstall kies on your computer, then re-install it, this will uninstall and then reinstall the drivers, I have to do this nearly every time I use odin.
Thanks for the quick response. I assume I'll need to do this on an XP machine, and not a 64 bit W7 machine? Plugged the phone into a XP machine, and now the phone is able to get to the downloading... yellow icons. I hope this means I'm making progress
Try the drivers here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11633550#post11633550
And stay away from Kies. It will murder you're phone.

Okay, thanks for the link. I see what I can do with that. Prior to your post, I got into download mode, download the pit file s1_odin_20100512.pit and the pda file T959UVJI6.tar. Tried to reload things on the phone. The phone now boots to a screen where it says

etc, given the option to reboot, reinstall packages, clear user data, or delete cache
below it says...

Same thing here, but I got it finally by using an ancient version of odin to flash to stock jfd. Kies picked it up right away after that.
That said, now that I have no fear of odin there are no traces of kies left on my pc...
Do you know if those file are located some place else, the link doesn't appear to have either file?
Sorry about that. Didn't realize the links were dead.

Hello!
First I want to tell you that are new on this forum and wish you a Happy New Year!
I am the owner of a GT-I9100 Samsung S2 Galaxy a few months, was branded by Orange Romania.
Yesterday I wanted to make him ROOT indicated in the forum they have found.
Everything went well the first step, with Odin, after restarting my phone remained on the screen S2 Galaxy <Samsung GT-I9100> and below yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.
I went to step 2, .... and <Waiting SuperOneClick device> after 10 minutes nothing happened .... so remained.
I clicked on the window and he appeared in the top left corner, after the program name (Not Response), that something is stuck somewhere.
I tried to resume operations, but without succes.
Can anyone tell me how to flash it or how I can put a ROM you can use something?
All I can tell you is that Kies was the last version and the phone was updated daily by Kies. (Unfortunately not noted version)
You advised me to do?
What I have to say is that in some versions of ROM writing software gives me error and squares is red. (That in ODIN).
Thank you in advance.
Your best bet is to start again from the beginning. You can find branded and unbranded firmware here...
Unbranded firmware
Branded firmware
Flash one of them using Odin (as instructed in the thread where you download), but make sure that nothing associated with Kies is running. (Open task manager, look at processes and kill everything that begins with kies.)
Once your phone is working okay, to root just use this very simple method...
Easy Rooting Toolkit
First of all does your computer have the Samsung drivers installed and/or adb drivers?
If you want to root the easiest way is to flash a kernel, cf root is recommended for rooting you can flash this via odin.
This will give you Cwm recovery so you can flash roms via recovery on your phone.

All well and good SWITCH only lasted a lot, about 15 minutes after the restart after installation.
Once started I did a hard reset.
At the start I have seen a lot of lines written in red so a lot of errors.
Finally they did not want to restart my phone, I only appear GT-I9100 Samsung Galaxy SII and NO yellow triangle.
Did not want to do anything. After about 10 minutes I decided to try again with Odin. Now it's surprise, the ODIN not want to recognize my phone ..... can not do anything with phone ODIN!!
When the download get in step (volume down + home + power) Were it says "current binary: OFFICIAL SAMSUNG" is this a problem? Before there was writing "binary power: CUSTOM"
Unfortunately the PC does not recognize the phone when the USB stick, I say it's not recognized.
What can I do?
Can I do anything with it at home? Or should it go on it for service?
What would I be able to attempt to revive it?
Once again thank you in advance.

Hi!
It seems that the PC recognizes other devices when connected.
The only explanation is that something happened in the phone.
In order to reboot, I only appear in red script.
It seems only able to make phone to communicate with any PC.
The only way is to make micro SD card.
At the "Volume Up + HOME + POWER" gives me the opportunity to do reboot or update using the SD card.
Can anyone explain to me how to do? And we need that?
Thank you.

[Q] Touch screen not responding

Dear all,
I am having big troubles with the touch screen of my Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II. Everything worked smooth since 1 year, and 2 days ago suddenly the touch screen stop responding. The phone works, I receive calls but I cannot answer since I cannot swipe. All the side button works, but the front button on the screen (menu, option, back and search buttons) do not work at all. I tried to reboot but nothing. I took sim, battery and microSD out for one entire night and then rebooted in the morning (without sim and microSD) but nothing. I also rebooted the same morning with sim and microSD but nothing. I ended up to try a factory reset even if I dont have a backup but I figured out I cannot do it because when I reboot and press volume up and power button then I cannot press the menu bottom when I see the robot with the box since the menu bottom does not respond!
Any help? I am in Netherland now and if I cannot fix this I have to buy a new phone.
cheers
Alberto
Use Odin an try n reflash stock firmware
But I don't think it'll work I think it's a hardware issue buy a new phone
Sent from my A116 using Tapatalk 2
If it is an softwarefailure you should try flashing a new rom with odin. You dont need your tochscreen for it, as far as i know.
But if it belongs to hardwarefailure...
I really can't tell if software can damage the tochscreen suddenly without any help from the outside
But softwarefixing may be easier than hardwarefixing.
#sak-venom1997 was faster
Thanks for the answers. I am newbie on the forum, and my phone is not rooted. How do I download Odin with a stuck screen? Searching on the forum I see people mentioning mymobiler to control the phone from the computer via USB, do you think this is feasible? When I connect my mobile to the computer I usually have to activate USB first using the settings, but with a stuck screen I cannot do that.
thanks
A.
AW: [Q] Touch screen not responding
Everything is done with the pc. You only need to install the phone drivers on the PC , download every important file (odin, ROM and ariesve) to the pc and bring your phone into download mode. Maybe there is already a thread with all important information for your phone

I don't think it'll help because had it been a mere software issue then the screen would have worked when you are trying to get into recovery moreover software issues don't come from nowhere

Thanks,
so are u excluding myMobiler? I received 10 texts that I would like to read them! I am dating a girl since a couple of weeks and I do not have her facebook if I root the phone I will lose her number and her texts and she is probably thinking I am a jerk since I am not replying since two days. Should I use myMobiler or this Odin for this issue? I guess Odin roots the phone and formats everything rite? And I lose also the warranty right? And probably the option to do Wifi calls with T-Mobile? I have MyBackup Pro installed on my phone I d love to backup everything and then try the factory reset.
Cheers
Alberto
No Odin won't void warranty unless you flash custom roms with it.
And Odin won't format storage unless you explicitly ask it to do so.
It would overwrite files and will not tamper with the data just keep the defaults and don't play with it

Thanks, what do you mean with: "It would overwrite files and will not tamper with the data"? What files are going to be overwritten? And what data are instead not overwritten? I dont understand do I have to follow the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Exhibit_4G for flashing to stock?
Anyways do you think it is possible with mymobiler or with android Screencast to access my mobile via USB from PC to backup the data running Mybackup PRO or even just copying a few numbers by hand, in case something would go wrong with Odin? The phone works perfectly only the touch screen does not respond.
If you just give me a suggestion on which one to use ( mymobiler or android Screencast), or if none of them, in order not to waste my time with them. Than I would try to learn myself.
thank you very much for your help!
A.
Depends on what you're flashing bro stock ones won't do anything with the data
and suggestions part please wait till tomorrow I'll surely tell what's better
Do you only need backup of your data n nothing else?

Thank you. If you dont have time today I will wait until tmr, no prob, I was hoping to do it tonite not to stay another day without phone but if your busy I understand. Actually thanks for helping. Basically I just need to backup all my phone (or only sms and numbers) with MyBackup PRO, I paid for that app, it is the best app imo, with one click it just backups all the data online or on SD card. But I am stupid and I did my last backup 4 months ago. So basically I just need to remotely (from PC) command my phone to do the backup. Btw I have an original non-rooted phone, so it has the stock. I do not really understand this "flushing to stock thing", I did a search online but why everybody when has a problem just does a factory reset and then loses all the data, and here this Odin seems to be magic and able to restore the phone without losing data? I am confuse. Sorry I am new to this things.
Thank you again
A.
Don't use any of the two you mentioned
Just turn on your pc install samsung Kies (the full version)
Connect your phone via usb to pc and there you'll find options to backup Sms and contacts

Thanks,
so I installed skies and backuped everything. Worked great.
Now I am following the Odin instruction here to flush to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Exhibit_4G
But I have a problem at the point of the instruction that says:
-The Message window should do an md5 check and end with "Check MD5... ok". If it doesn't, try redownloading again - don't want to flash a corrupt file!
This message window never appears! I pressed start anyway and after rebooting the phone it said impossible to recognize the device. Here are the messages:

S3 only comes into download mode

Hi there! I sit now beaten four hours (or more :crying on a S3 from a friend because he only had the problem that his S3 is not started ( Freeze the Samsung logo). He was eager that I should remove it its unwanted root access. After research I managed the S3 HALF WAY up and running or that the phone started normally. Luckily CWM was installed on the device...
Well , later I have downloaded an original 4.3 Unbranded FW and flashed using Odion . ( Drivers and other stuff was already on it ) So far so good . There were no error messages or anything , but later it failed again at the Samsung screen. Desperately I still have a 4.2.2 FW (?) tries to flash as would go at first, but after about 5 minutes Odion did not load and I thought (?) : ' Hmm, nothing is happening so I just pull the USB cable '
Well, it looks like I repend this now, but do it right !
Now I get when I start the phone this error message:
' firmware upgrade Encountered an issue . please select recovery mode in kies & try again s3 '
Kies doesn't recognizes the S3 , so that falls ever completely gone and when I try to flash another FW ( Odion ) I get these error messages regardless of whether it is one part FW or three part FW...
(YES , Kies is getting away with Task Manager )

What I have already tried:
- Flash different FW
- To use other USB ports ( I have all 12)
- To install USB drivers multiple times
Anyone can help?
:crying:

Try flashing the latest rom for GT-I9300 International Version(Check if yours is international version) I9300XWUGML4 using odin.
After you installed the ROM from odin. Immediately hit Power + Volume Up + Home Button. Access recovery mode hit Factory Data Reset.
