I installed Indirect's app called Nook Tablet Recovery Flasher and flashed CWM to my NT. I also have ROM Manager and wanted to update CWM to the latest version using ROM Man. but it's asking for the version of CWM I have installed. How do I go about finding this out? Is there a procedure for this or do I ask Indirect himself? I can't post on his page. Any help would be appreciated. I couldn't find anything on this topic.
There's nothing wrong with Indirect's version of CWM. My advice is to just not touch CWM if it's working properly.
Rom Manager does not have an official CWM to flash for the Nook tablet.

I installed VeganTab GE and the install was pretty successful using the nvflash method. The only thing that I wasnt able to do was install Pershoots latest rom (boot-cm_2632.41_gb-oc-uv-xtra-vfp_fp-060311.zip)
I made the mistake of installing Rom Manager and updating the CWM to 2.1.5.8. My question is that would there be problems if I upgrade the newer kernel using CWM2158 ? Has anyone tried to do this? According to some posts, it seems that CMW v.8 is the only version that plays nice with the gtablet.
Right now the tablet is functioning, but occasionaly just shuts down apps like the browser and maps. Hopefully a newer kernel fixes that.
Just re flash cwm .8 bekit and call it good. Rom manager does not play well even with .8 let alone the newest recovery you installed.
Don't waste your time and data nvflashing after it borks everything and you have to do a drastic recovery.
I originally downloaded cwm v.8 from the forums. This is the same as cwm .8 bekit ? The cwm v.8 is the version that got overwritten to 2.1.5.8, and for some reason, when I try to re-flash it into the recovery mode, it cant seem to find the update.zip and recovery folder even though its there
.8 bekit is the same as cwm .8 you flashed in the past. Bekit is the one who altered it for gtab. You can nvflash cwm which is the safest way or you can use the cwm you currently have to try and reflash .8 cwm and just cross your fingers.
Here you can find simple step by step instructions to nvflash cwm.

Good luck
I will try to nvflash the cwm. Seems like the best option right now. Thanks !
hello, I have noticed that when you install rom manager and flash CWM with it, It makes the sch-i905 (SGT LTE) go into bootloop. I believe this is because the one that rom manager flashed was for wifi only... can someone explain to me how to possibly flash a clockworkmod recovery to stop the boot loop? or am I wrong and there's something else I have to do? Thanks for all the help in advance.
ROM manager isn't all encompassing when it comes to supporting the flashing of various ROMs and recoveries on all Android devices so what you're finding is what others already know; it doesn't support the GT 10.1 models well.
About the only reason I'd use ROM manager on my tablet would be to run the fix permissions from within the OS itself. Instead though, I just do it in CWM and I do not have ROM manager installed.
Dump ROM manager on the tab and use the latest CWM that pershoot distributed instead:

There's a link to his blog site in the original post in that thread. Download links for your tab version (SCH-i905) are there as are instructions for using Odin to flash it.
The app itself doesn't direct the files properly on where it needs to be pasted
Hello people....
I am new to SGS3 xda forum....i am from Pakistan...its been 2 weeks since i bought a SGS3 (second hand)...probably of 3mobile U.K...i was told by the seller that the phone was unlocked in Pakistan....as i tried system update from settings...it said that my phone was modified and could not be updated....so i decided to install CWM Touch on my SGS3 in order to create backup of my current stock ROM (4.1.1)...my phone is not rooted yet....i followed the instructions given in the following link:
http://jellybean-news.blogspot.com/2013/02/complete-guide-to-install-clockworkmod.html
Odin took 1 second and my phone was booted....Odin gave the Message ''Pass!''...everything went fine as it should have been...but when i went into the recovery mod...Stock Android Recovery is opening instead of CWM Touch....noting my phone is not rooted yet....it is also normally booting and everything is fine....can anybody guide me about the problem that i am currently facing...and its solution as well....?? Help Would Be Appreciated...
Edit:Just Flashed CF-Root Pakcage Including SuperSU and CWM Manager with CWM v5.5.0.4....now it goes into CWM...but still one noob question....have my previous stock android recovery and CWM Touch been automatically deleted/replaced?...or they still exist?? Thanks
Sounds like you were trying to install a cwm without being rooted.
Cwm replaces the stock android recovery. You could now try flashing the cwm touch through your current cwm. Make sure its a zip. If you come and ask for help You should really follow a guide on xda though. They are the best guides around.

When you flash a recovery you will delete the previous recovery in doing so, your stock and touch are both gone - replaced with v5.5.0.4.
You can now boot into CWM and install a better recovery, try Philz touch recovery for instance.
Hi developers!
So my rooted htc gsm version has a 'android system recovery installed'. And im needing android 4.0 for some app development.
I can't seem to flash a new recovery since "ClockworkMod Recovery" does not support older devices. I downloaded an older version of the ClockworkMod Recovery but trying to flash the recovery says that there's error. I need ClockworkMod Recovery to be installed on my phone to be able to install android 4.0.
Anyone has other methods to install ClockworkMod Recovery rather using their servers?
thank you
The recovery you got from cwm is enough to install CM9, check your CM9 zip, its probably a bad download
Hello, I am just browsing the I717 posts here, being familiar with android root and CWM, I can not seem to find much with root and CWM on the boards here. I see a lot of root, that installs TWRP a lot but I am looking to root and have CWM. Perhaps I missed it, however wanted to ask. Thank you.

That root method seems to install TWRP, I just want ROOT by itself so perhaps I can install CWM ?
To root this phone you have to flash a kernel that also installs CWR. The only way I can see to get root only without installing a recovery is put the phone in download mode and use odin to flash a rooted rom. But I've never seem an odin version of a rooted rom.
Why don't you want TWRP? Its way better than CWR.

Latest CWM is 6.0.4.3
You do not need to install a custom kernel to root your phone. Use Odin to install CWM and then use CWM recovery to install a version of superuser.
Easiest method I know is here: Works for jellybean also.
