Hi all,
Is anyone else seeing very slow performance with Root Explorer and ICS?
I don't believe it's to do with the CF-Root kernel as it seems the same with SiyahKernel.
I've done a couple of full wipes (formatting partitions) to make sure there was nothing strange going on.
Everything just seems really slow compared to Root Explorer on GB, folder browsing, searching, its all in slow motion...
Anyone have any suggestions or am I the only person seeing this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I found the problem, it was the "Full Content" logging in SuperSU causing the slowness.

Its really weird because I had lags, then I flashed back to 2.3.3, then I flashed to 2.3.4 again and the lags was gone, it was weird, it was like it was a bad flash or something:/

Its a weird one, try flashing kf2 then flashing back to 2.3.4, it cleared the lag for me

I used Odin too, im still having this annoying lag when scrolling pages, do you guys think i really should flash to KF2 then flash to 2.3.4 again?
Or do you guys think im getting this lag cuz of the CF-Root, I have CF-Root for super user, after i got super user i installed KG1 Stock again
nope no lag here, runs even faster on 2.3.4.

just wanna nose in for solution. lags occur on 2.3.5 too (sgs2). whenever i scroll the pixels enlarge as if LQ pictures/videos and then it sharpen, but regardless it is definitely not smooth. I tested it on Go Launcher and TWLauncher.
Hi Guys,
I am running VK 2.1 Stable ediition [ KK5] with Siyah kernel [v2.5.2].
Am increasingly annoyed with the following browser issue:
Right now, if I click on a link, it is automatically opening in a new window, instead of opening in the same window. Similarly , for each redirection it is opening a new window, which leads to lots of blank windows.[ ie. for some sites, where redirection to mobile site happens, it creates one window and then creates a new one . [for each redirection, one window is created].
I have already tried flashing a different browser mod, wannam lite's universal browser mod etc, and this issue seems to occur in all the browsers!! Tried, clearing dalvik cache, data and cache of the application too, and it doesn't seem to help!!.
Any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this would be welcome. Already posted in a few threads [ the original ROM thread], with no replies
Bump!!
Any ideas? Anyone?
Is this the default behaviour of the browser [ any modded browser with UI Agent settings?]
Can't say I've come across that problem before, try going to settings and check the box that says open pages in background.

Have already tried that. As said, had even deleted all data and cache of the application and tried flashing multiple mods of the browser, and still not working.
Are you running KK5 ROM? If so, can you please attach your working Browser.apk [if you are running a deodexed ROM].
Sure I can upload the stock browser.apk from my KK5 deodexed rom when I have access to a pc. Have you tried reflashing your rom? Might be stating the obvious but did you restore your apps with titanium backup, that can cause problems sometimes?
stock browser.apk attached, hope it helps

Thanks! No luck.
I haven't tried reflashing, I want to keep it as a last option. Regarding the titanium backup, I didn't respite the browser or any system apps, not sure how it will affect. Any good fancy rotation plus ics rom?
Has anybody tried using browser2ram after the update? I managed to update and restore root and i'm going to reinstall it. I was just curious whether anyone else has tried and can confirm that it still works and improves the stock browser's performance.
Seems to babe working just fine.

After testing it does appear that browsing is still much snappier with browser2ram installed. Which is a shame really as it means that they really didn't address the io speed although jelly bean has improved things.

what browser have you tested this theory with?
Stock browser running better and smoother here - even than ICS with browser2ram. But that's after a factory reset - I had glitches before I did that.
Not sure how you guys have managed to restore root in order to install the app again. Do share! Nobody else seems to have managed more than "partial root" in other words only works with apps already given root permissions before update. Are you definitely seeing browser2ram being granted permissions after a reboot?
Stock browser. As far as I know the mod was only designed to work with stock.

I restored full root using the following method in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32122432
I get the browser2ram being granted permissions message after I installed it and rebooted. From what I've read it varies a lot as to whether full root can be restored. It must be dependent on a combination of your current setup and what you did to restore. I guess I was just lucky.

Good to hear some have managed it. I know many (including me) reported Rootkeeper had restored root after update only to find it hadn't fully worked even though apps like Titanium Backup and Root Explorer seemed ok. Anyway my stock browser zips along nicely now and I'm sure it won't be too long before the devs figure out a way to root again .

like somebody else said above. If you are seeing lag with your stock browser running this new rom you should do a factory reset.

Yes, it made a big difference for me and I'm sure it would for everyone. Even after a few months we accumulate a mountain of dross on that data partition that has the potential to seriously mess with any new software base. I know companies are always reluctant to issue software updates that would force users to back up or lose stuff but it really would save a lot of problems if they just warned people and did a full wipe.
HTC even refused in the end to issue the ICS update for the Desire HD because it would have entailed wiping the data partition to run the upgrade .
Dear all,
I really like the ES File Explorer but I have a strange problem.
It just crashes very often, during exploring the files on my internal or external SD.
To figure out the cause, I tried to
- used a differend SD-card
- used a stock rom with full wipe
- used a differend SGIII with my SD-card
but the problem is still unsolved.
I hope, anyone has an idea for a possible solution.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards
Mario
Tried clearing data?
Yes, but it was still the same.
Uninstall then reinstall?

Same problem after 10 years on android 11
I tried to resolve this problem in general help discusion but no luck.
Here's the problem:
I have xperia sola white - really unhappy with very slow laggy stock rom .54, so I flashed ultimate rom v11.
First time I did it, I had no problem but keyboard which is after few minute after restart started to keep disappearing... I found out, that I'm not the only one having this problem, tried to solve with locking it in memory, change OOM after restart to -17,.... nothing so far helped.
Now I tried second shot, fresh ftf stock .54 and everything carefully flash again, guess how it end up. At first I was really happy, because it looked like problem solved, but today I'm chating on fb and that piece of... started to do it again.
Maybe it started to do this problem after I changed QWERTY to QWERTZ and downloaded czech vocabulary. Dunno, today I'm gonna experiment with it.
Maybe the problem isn't in ROM, maybe the problem is keyboard it self. Is there any way (maybe in terminal,...) how to figure out, why the process crashed?
Or please is there anyone who experienced similar problem and solved it? When I was listing xda, I found out, there are many of us dealing with this
Did you try to replace the keyboard to stock?
Actually it¨s what I¨m trying to do right now, but there is another problem (as allways), root explorer won't let me mount as R/W in system folder. Trying to bypass it somehow.... with something ... I let you know, thx for (any) respond

Anything else that needs root works?
This custom kernel or stock?
I was using Phantom kernel, different kernel did the work... So now I deleted old kb and replaced it by stock kb from ics and guess what happend . I guess I need JB keyboard. Looking for it right now
So honami kb deleted, installed stock kb and google kb. If the problem was the keyboard, you probably won't hear from me anymore
Thank you for help
note:
please don't lock this topic, I have this feeling that this is not the end
I'm on stock kb and google kb... Problem remains, any idea?
I'll try to dump some log later, maybe someone would be wise from it.
