Hard to believe but I can not get a signal at my job on Verizon, I know I can on sprint did so with my Samsung epic. Is it possible to use roam control and roam specifically to sprint? Will it be 3G or 1x? I'm not sure how Verizon roaming agreements are situated.
As far as I know. The PRL(Preferred Roaming List (PRL) is automatic with the sim card. Only thing you could do is make sure your phone is set to roam or maybe toggle 3g/4g to see if it will pick anything else up.

Hey, I got a friend whos got a TP for Verizon.
Is there a way to make it Force Roaming like I can with my Sprint one? Is there a CAB app out for it to do it with that works with Verizon, or can I use the regedit program and do it for her? Has anyone tried making their Verizon TP force roam??
Thanks
D
What would forcing a vzw touch pro to roam do?
Trying to make it so when the phone is in a Verizon service area it does not use it. It forces to roam off another company's tower.
I just this feature for my Sprint TP because if I have a real low Sprint signal but because I am in a Sprint service area it wont go to roaming but if I make it roam only it will force it to roam in a Sprint service area and my bars jump 2-3 bars +
When your sprint phone goes to roam only, it uses verizon or alltel towers (most common) but they are home networks to verizon. I don't think this is necessary for a verizon phone unless you have some circumstance that I have not seen pop up in these forums. Good luck.
Yes but when you Force to Roam in a Verizon phone it will force it to roam to a network thats not considered a "Home Network" maybe like a Sprint tower.
Try this link to add a registry edit to for a roaming only option. I am on Sprint and just added it o my new touch pro and it worked like a champ.

This is for Sprint phones. The Verizon registry is a bit different from Sprints so this method does not work.
Has anyone come up with a Verizon force to roam yet??
I thought this may be of some help to folks out there.
I have been getting terrible data speeds in my area and have finally searched enough threads to find a fix for this. This fix involves using Verizon &/OR US Cellular towers and bypassing Sprint's towers. I spoke with the Sprint rep & according to him, IF YOU GO OVER 300MB OF DATA YOU WILL BE CHARGED UP TO $75. If you are on WIFI the majority of the time but need faster 3G at certain times, this is the perfect solution.
This fix does change the PRL in your phone to Verizon &/OR US Cellular towers which means you will be using your anytime minutes when making calls. If you do not have a nationwide plan, you will also be charged roaming fees. CHECK WITH SPRINT BEFORE DOING THIS OR YOUR BILL WILL BE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!
The guide that Gothir posted HERE is a very good walkthrough.
The HTC Diag Drivers for Windows 7 are HERE
QPST is HERE
Verizon PRL is HERE (Credit goes to Techknowfile)
US Cellular PRL is HERE (Download 15056)
Follow Gothir's walkthrough after all these are installed/downloaded. There is one option that will force roaming on the QPST that Gothir did not mention. This is under SYSTEM>Preferred MODE. Change the Preferred Mode to Affiliates only. This will force roam and bypass Sprint Towers. I use this because my 3g speeds are about 100kbps in my area while on Sprint towers.
Credit goes to those above. Good luck 3D owners!
I just thought I would share my results, roam control works great with this photon in Chicago. I used to have an epic and roam control didn't work here in Chicago, but it does with the photon. For those of u that don't know what roam control is, its an app that lets u force your phone into roaming. For instance at work, I have 1 bar. when I use the roam control app and set my phone to roam I get full service. But be advised too Much roaming willget u kicked off your contract. Also u need to be rooted to use the app.
sent from my photon
Can u force 3g using this on roam?, there is a way but a little lengthy
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I use Roam control quite a bit and was glad ti was updated to work with the Photon. When I'm roaming on Verizon the PRL determines if it will allow you to utilize 3G or 1X data. I changed mine to 1115 which is a business PRL that allows full 3G data when roaming on VZ. In fact the speeds surpass Sprints 3G in most areas.
how do you change prl? nvm did a search for it, and found it

Yeah i noticed the second i roam over onto verizon, the speeds blow out sprints...Although the ability to just roam at will comes in handy when im on the phone and im entering my apartment. I have no sprint coverage, i use an air rave. So before i step inside and lose my call i roam over with roam control, and bam my call doesn't drop! Definitely a rooted phones best friend!!!

Trust me its definitely worth the purchase. Also changing the prl is also very handy...just try not to roam to much, sprint can terminate your contract for roaming to much...
I've noticed mine kicks out of Vz in less than a minute, and the icon looses the triangle. When I go check the phones settings, whether I have it set to "CDMA Only" or to "Automatic", it always gets kicked back to "Sprint Only". I am on the latest update, and am rooted again.
Is anyone else having this problem, or is this an old problem you have solved already?

All roaming is done on 3G. Sprint's and Verizon's 4G networks are incompatible (LTE and WiMax).
In Chicago we roam on US Cellular, not VZW, and I only get 1x.

Hey there, as of right now I am using MeanROM 3.3, which has a built in function of 'roam only' so I can use Verizon networks in poor reception places. However, when I go back to "Sprint Only" it breaks it for some reason and my connection never comes back. So I was wondering if anyone still uses Roam Control and if it works for them? I'm using PRL 12117 so I can get 3g Verizon data on my phone, and I was curious if Roam Control can get 3g data as well? I'd be willing to pay for a license if it means not having to restart my phone every time I want to go back to Sprint towers, but if I can't get to 3g then I don't think it will be worth it. Thanks for your help.
Hi, I'm still learning about PRLs and how to make use of them.. so I manually updated my phone to Sprint PRL 11119.. I was hoping that it would let me roam on Verizon towers but its the same as the over the air PRL I had.. my phone only goes to US Cellular. the thing is US Cellular signal works but isn't that much better than Sprint..
So is there anyway I could force roam to Verizon? or maybe in my area I'm out of luck?
I'm in Rockford/Chicago Area
Have the HTC EVO 3D rooted stock version.
Used the Roam Control app to force roam
also just tried the new sprint prl 60687..
I appreciate any help you guys could offer..
Thank you.
I believe that PRL is a corporate prl, which will only give you 3g roaming in certain areas of the country. The only one I have gotten to work on my phone is the 00001 prl, however that forces your phone to always roam on verizon. 3g works perfectly (as it should work, hint hint Sprint). I haven't used it since upgrading to ICS since you cant change prl's with ICS, however it will work with any GB Sense rom with the 2.1 EPST
I understand that its mostly used for the 3G roaming but I also thought it would let me Voice roam on Verizon as well not only Data..
My phone with the 11119 prl did show 3G roaming but I wasn't sure if its Verizon or US cellular data tower..
Can a PRL like 11119.. roam to Verizon 3G while at the same time roam to US cellular Voice? or it have to be both voice and data?
Also; are you saying that I won't be able to roam on verizon unless I used the 00001 prl?
Thanks.

No, it's all or nothing. The PRL should connect your phone to a Verizon tower first, then a US Cell tower second, so there may not be verizon coverage where you are.
We do have Verizon coverage I'm 100% sure of that.. Are there any other causes that wouldn't let me connect to Verizon? I mostly need the voice.
Some prl's just dont work well with some phones and different areas of the country. Like I said, one of the prl's I tried didn't work in my area. I would just try a few and see if you find one that works better.
Well I guess for now I should be happy with the 3G roaming and later I might try different PRL versions as you said and see how it goes.
Thank you for taking the time to help.
