[Q] build prop settings to get full market access. - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I posted this in Q&A and got zero responses so please no flaming about posting this there.......someone here knows because i got the info from here long ago. What changes in builds prop are done to "trick" the market? Nexus S in somewhere....just can't recall. TIA.

I would also like to know that. I run mine at 200 DPI but and thats a little too low for the full market access.
It also pisses me off when I post a question in the proper section and no one responds.

Then bump the post in the proper section. Don't knowingly and willfully break the rules.

First: ask an intelligible question if you want a sufficient answer. I for one have no idea wtf the OP is asking exactly since he gave virtually no details.
Second: don't ask in development when you know you shouldn't! See first response....
Third: getting "pissed off" when no one answers is extremely lame and immature. Either no one knew the answer, or no one knew wtf you were talking about and didn't feel like playing 20 questions. See first response....

I bought the app LCD Density modder pro, it comes with a modifed play store that reports your LCD Density at 240dpi to the market.
This fixes the "App not compatible errors"
I've been flashing a lot of ICS roms lately and I was sick of booting ICS, running LCD modded, installing the modded files, rebooting... etc.. etc.. so I made myself a CWM zip file that I just flash right after I flash a rom.
Even tho it's a personal file, I gave LCD Density modded all the credit. Although I know of other sources the show you how to do the mods yourself. I don't know if I'm allow to post the CWM zip file here for you guys to download, or even if you do in fact want to download it.
So, if it's ok for me to post the file, can a mod let me know? Please and thanks. I will post it in the main form for others and let you guys know where it's too.
Thanks

Thank you for the response. I'll be sure to be more mature about my responses here. I wouldn't want anyone telling my 65 year old mother one me. I'd hate to have to explain all of that to her. I'll simply say puzzled from now on.

Sorry for not explaining it better (being the OP). It sounded very clear inside my head when typing.......and that is a problem I know!
When trying to download some apps in the Market (Crackle TV app for example) I get the error "this app is not compatible with your phone". There was a "trick" posted awhile back that by changing something in the build prop using a text editor that would make the market think I had a newer modeled phone and thus could get the apps to download.
I had run for months with the market thinking I had a Nexus I believe (again, sorry I can't remember what I had changed it to) for a long time with no issues, but these latest builds of ICS just aren't playing nice with the Play Store.
I truly thought it was a common thing people were doing with the fascinate in order to have full access to the market/play store. Thus, I just condensed my question thinking it was going to get multiple hits and a quick answer. My mistake there again.

[GUIDE THEME] GingerSwype

Ok guys so with a ton of reading and researching here's a little thing I was trying to figure out for awhile and finally did it so Im going to share a little guide. Now non of this is mine, I just follow instructions well
With all the Gingerbread talk/themes I haven't seen anyone here theme the stock MT4G Swype. I'm on CM7 Nightlies but I believe it should also work with stock MT4G sense since I pulled it from there.
Now before we begin I take no responsibility if this bricks your phone or make it burst in flames. This guide does need a know how to adb and have jdk and jre installed properly to sign the apk.
First we need the stock swype:
-I followed this guide from Marine6680
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959192&highlight=swype
Now we need the Gingerbread Theme for Swype:
-I got the files from Marurban
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930306
-The file we need is the 2.6 v0.3 WVGA without Mic
Marurban's guide was kinda confusing and that was where I was having a little trouble. So then I found stone_ship's guide and helped me a lot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955721
I simply copied just all the keyboard pngs and left glow and wcw png stock. I still need to learn how to change the font color on the popup
After you have signed your themed swype.apk use Marine6680's guide to install it back to your phone. If your having trouble with this I will try with the best of my ability to help but no promises Enjoy!
Also Please thank Marine6600, Marurban and stone_ship for their guides to make this possible.
FYI, you do relize that if you are just replacing the images as you did, that it can be done in about 10 seconds using 7zip. You dont need to resign the zip, no Apk Manager or anything like that. And this isnt really a "Guide" but just a post with links to guides from other people. If you would like a "Guide on image replacement using 7zip" I will be happy to help.

Did you even read the OP? It clearly says he didn't do anything as he took it from other peoples stuff, it even has name of the people on it. I guess he just found it confusing from original doc so he wrote his own but IDK why he posted here.

No I didnt read the OP, I just posted blindly. WTF kind of stupid comment is that?
When someone makes a thread with "Guide Theme" in the title, I kinda EXPECT A GUIDE. Not links to guides. Second I am in no way trying to flame this guy (like you tried to do to me) but let him know that there is much easier ways to achieve what he has done. I also even offered to help him make a simple GUIDE for doing this.
And whats up with your post? And I quote:

He wrote his own what? GUIDE?
My point with that is it is easy to pick apart someones post huh.
I mean, I dont even know why you posted in this thread. Your comment added absolutly no help to the thread and only tried to flame me.
I will now end this rant before I say something I shouldnt
And your comment added so much help, maybe you should write another EZ guide for it. No one flamed you as you simply try to bash the guy without clearly comprehending what he did. No one cares what you expected thats like you claiming to write guides from using other peoples and not giving them credit for it.
Whoa... Sorry for this guys all I wanted to do was share what I found out myself cause I wanted to theme my swype to gingerbread and didn't know how. So instead of asking I just read up and searched and didn't come up with anything simple. My bad for thinking it might help people.
Mod can you lock or delete this please

Don't worry about it the guy is a troll and thief its just funny as he steal other peoples stuff then claim he writes them but when you did something and even properly named people where you got it from he try to bash you. As I said "I guess he just found it confusing from original doc so he wrote his own but IDK why he posted here." You don't need to apologize you did what you thought would help others in good intention, that is what matters regardless of the trolling from hypocrites. We are here to help others.

First let me apologize for your mucking up your thread. My original post was only meant to offer help to you and somehow it has turned into this.
There is no reason to lock or delete this thread, you did nothing wrong. As a matter of fact you did a great job of researching and figuring out how to do what you wanted to do. I was only offering help to make this more of a guide for what you did and help show you a easier way of achieving it, so you could in turn help people easier. Setting up APK manager and the other things you metioned can be time consuming, especially if you aren't familiar with how to do it.

No problem lets just start a new and please tell me how an easier way can be done. cause all the things I've read about theming swype was thru either metamorph (I'm still reading up on how to make one) and thru Ninjamorph which force closes on my swype. I never ran into 7zip like you mentioned. I usually just read and try to figure things out myself so please do explain
Im always up to new challenges and now knowing how apk manager sorta works I can deep dive on what I might or might not be capable of doing. its really an interesting program
It'd be nice to have something like this for the current beta version. I can't give up my voice-input button. No way.

Well you can still do it, just use the guide and download Marurban's gingerbread theme with the mic on it.
Seems like I missed the party...any how...what's the easiest way to get gingerbread Swype? I don't have my stock mt4g Swype anymore ...hehe!

Miui camera with ffc support

I'm trying to get the latest camera, v17 I think, onto my thunderbolt. I downloaded the Miui rom for the Nexus S since it is the only one I know of with FCC support. I then pulled the camera apk out of that rom. The apk was signed, installed on my phone, and had its set permissions set, however it still FCs. Does anybody have any idea why it is not working?
I've attached the apk in case anybody is interested.
Ok, really, this is a question, not a dev thread...
Maybe because it was made for the Nexus S, which isn't the Thunderbolt.

When people don't take the time to search or post in the appropriate places making threads unnecessarily long and flooding them to the point that others with appropriate questions for that thread don't get answers and many stop even attempting to skim, there is a problem
A place for everything and everything in its place.
I know this is off-topic of the OP and I'm not intending to fan any flames. I just don't think people that actually want to improve this place should be the ones getting *****ed at. Try pointing the criticizing finger at the ones that are too lazy to spend the 2sec search to find the answer or appropriate forum themselves.
And yes, I realize that by posting this in this thread, I'm somewhat acting in contradiction to what I've said. But, when in Rome, eh? It's on topic of the last few posts anyway.

Posts such as his simply make it impossible for those of us that do search, to find real answers. Which is exactly what happened, I searched, and found posts that looked to have answers, instead I find someone complaining about where the post is.
If you want to make this a better place, you educate, but still help, then when later people come looking, there is an answer too.
Everyone should have realized by now that some people just won't search. For whatever reason, be it lazyness or ignorance, its going to happen. Cursing and flaming isn't going to help the situation at all. I understand people get upset, but we need to understand that its going to happen.

So how did you get it working? I tried from the link in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12164180&postcount=1 and it doesn't work. I flashed, then pulled the apk into /system/APP, then installed the APK (the method outlined in the thread) and it didn't work. I also just tried installing the APK from that zip independently, but it didn't work.
Also, FWIW, I searched Google and it took me here, so flaming about not searching doesn't really help those of us who actually searched.
Like info on netflix info you get everything but what your searching for.......search sucks........
After looking for days using search and not getting anywhere i would come off half cocked too

I prob want to get this in:
Amazing QuikSense v2.1.2
Rooted
Faux123 HTC Stock v0.0.7 ( can only find the link for 0.0.6 =( share if u have it)
My question is in which order should i do this??
is this correct:
1. Root it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310115)
2. Install Amazing Quick Sense (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322474)
2.1 Install FAux123 Kernel (using the tool inside the folder) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951) (Step 5 from under)
For step 2 xboarder says:

The fact that Miguel did some research and spelled out his interpretation of how to flash a custom ron/kernel shows. Far more effort than the typical noob. I appreciate those that do some reading and ask for validation of the process.

remember unlock bootloader>root>flash cwm (x's version in development section)> flash rom/kernel you're good to go
I thought I answered this for you by PM???
I don't understand why even after receiving my answer you felt it necessary to post this.
Other than the rom it doesn't actually matter what order you install these.
In fact, you can do this in ANY order because what you are wanting to do consists of THREE DIFFERENT partitions.
Boot
Recovery
System
Boot is the kernel
Recovery is recovery
System is rom.
Dude just do it and learn something for yourself instead of asking for permission first. Really you'll be fine. And if your not... it's a learning experience.
Really, I take back my prior post. Bad form OP.

Problem?
A phone not booting is a problem.
A phone freezing at the boot screen is a problem.
A phone bootlooping is a problem.
A phone not able to dial 9-1-1 is a problem.
A phone that doesn't have a touch screen is a problem.
A phone that never has signal is a problem.
Those are good examples of problems.
What problem did you have again?
I'll be honest with you. I'm a bit irritated by this thread. You sent me a PM to which I replied.
At 0032 hours I received your PM.
At 0047 you posted this thread (only fifteen minutes later).
At 0137 hours I replied to your PM not knowing you already posted this thread.
So here's the deal. Don't PM me again for your "problems" because you can clearly get your answers like everyone. You just wasted my time. You would be irritated too if it happened to you. Only in my case I get flooded by messages with people that have real "problems" and I'm sorry if I have to prioritize. Clearly yours should have been the lowest of priority. Again... don't PM me anymore.

I'm sure you meant nothing by it but I can understand where he's coming from.
One thing here is just to post and be patient.
I've had someone PM me about an issue with their phone and then I spent 10 minutes looking up information to resolve it for them just to hop on the General Forum to see they had started a thread about it too.
So why then did they waste my time PMing me if they were just going to start a thread?
So my suggestion is just pick one route next time.
PM and wait, or open a thread and wait.
And BY THE WAY...search first before anything else.
And try looking for keywords related to your problem as opposed to typing in your exact question and then saying you couldn't find anything using search.
I've seen a lot of questions get repeated because they didn't realize their question was already asked simply because they worded it differently. (I've done this too.)
Anyways good luck.

Look man, I'm over it already. Just please realize how frustrating it is for me.
I have 1,683 messages in my inbox. Do you know how many I get on a daily basis? Dozens! I try to respond to them as quickly and promptly as possible. But I am not some tech support employee that is required to answer any of them. I don't need to answer them. But I do anyway because I like to help. But when I saw this thread it did upset me... obviously. Would you blame me for my reaction? Perhaps I did over-react and for that I apologize. You obviously got your answer so that's all that counts.

Honestly, you would have received better input if you put the question in the Q&A section. People bash each other for posting in the wrong sections. I must say, I think you jumped the gun a little by ordering a new device. You didn't even wait 24 hours. When I had my S3, I accidentally formatted the wrong partition while trying to get data back after compiling MIUI based off another phone, it took 3 days to figure out how to get it back (Thanks garwynn and crew). A simple google search for "How to install stock rom on Verizon note 2" returned this on the first page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207. The stickies in development are one of the first places you should look for anything rom related.

Thank you.I didn't even know about the Q&A section and to be honest I panicked.I was rooted and had TWRP recovery but now every time I try to put the phone into recovery all I get is a message about unauthorized software being installed on my device

You would have to use odin to restore the factory image if that's the case.

[Q] Lots of thanks and 1 question

I have been reading a lot post here and while I had just ordered a new tablet I decided to give rooting my Nook tablet a try. I wish I could remember everyone's name here to thank for thier post and help. But I ended up using so many different posts as I stumbled my way to success. So can I please just thank everyone who helps here and the Forum for being here? I did achieve success...which for myself was a great feeling. So I sent back the new tablet and kept the Nook.
One question when I use Goo mgr and up date to a new nightly I always have to sign back in and replace all my apps onto the Home screen . Is this normal? I have to go through all the updates of the different apps etc. Do you have to update every cm nightly or just once in awhile? Thanks again for everyone here.
I don't use Goo so I don't know about that part but you certainly do not have to update all the time! If you're happy with the way things are running, just leave it alone. Maybe read change logs to see if there's anything there that sparks your interest.
