Well today i flashed my EVO 3D to virginmobile, i basically cloned my Optimus V, i have gottem everything to work but still no MMS! data works text and calls work! How can i fix my mms, i already went into ##3282# and changed my APN settings, i still cant get my MMS to work! Any ideas? On the Development thread they restore a apn setting, and then install a new sms app? How do you fix mms when you flash to a different carrier? Thanks!
Are you proxies properly set up?

When I lost my flash info after downgrading from hboot 1.5 to 1.4 S-OFF one of the steps I took to get my phone to play nicely with boost mobile was to connect to wifi and then manually update my profile and then my PRL in that order and everything worked great after that.
Hope this helps!

I would use it, but go to an AOSP ROM first. For example, MIUI or CyanogenMod. make a Nandroid backup.
or you can try doing ##3282# (##DATA#), edit mode, the password is your MSL code (you can retrieve your MSL code by downloading the MSL reader from the market for free). open Data Profile, menu, restore. It'll grab your profile again.
You can also try inputting the APN/MMS server URL settings manually. Download and install "Any Cut" app. Once installed open the app and select "New Shortcut" then select "Activity". Scroll down until you find "APNs" and select it. This will open "Edit shortcut" menu, "APNs" name will appear on the type field so just hit "OK". An "APNs" shortcut will appear in your Home screen. Open it and select "Menu", "New APN". Once there enter the Virgin Mobile APN settings.

When u are finished entering the correct settings hit "Menu", "Save" and reboot the phone.
Hope this helps, Cheers.

This directions above are specifically for Virgin Mobile. If you have your phone flashed to a different carrier just google for the correct settings and follow these directions. If you cannot find them, PM and I will try to help you out with them.
Cheers to all!
Would love to try out the above but have am unable to locate the Any Cut app.
Figured it out with a google search.
Edit: I saved it but when I went back into the APN it looks like my settings didn't save.....hrm

I have my Verizon Eris activated on alltel, just used the ##PROGRAM menu to setup provisions to the alltel towers and configure the user/passwords for 3G data and them uploaded the alltel PRL with ##PRL and *228'd the phone and it's been perfect for over a month now, EXCEPT MMS.
I can't figure out a way to change the MMS addresses in messages settings, the MMS settings aren't anywhere in the MPST programming menus at all. If I go to the messages app and hit menu, I can find the MMS addresses in there, they're set to verizon of course, but I'm not given an option to change them...
Is there a way to change the MMS addresses without rooting? .. since the root hasn't been figured out yet.
not really that's an apn setting which has been removed out of the settings menu. once root comes we'll have that control again.
wow, glad im not the only one waiting for this...

I'm 100% sure they are not greyed out. I noticed that when mobile data is ON, you don't have access to change your mms settings. When mobile data is switched off, you do...
I am on Cricket, so the settings I am experimenting with relate to that carrier. So far, I have not been successful in getting mms to work, but feel very close. If you have any ideas feel free to pm me.

Disabling wireless does not "ungrey" those settings to edit. Even if I could edit, I wouldnt know what to use in them. Maybe this is something we need to wait for root to edit?

Well, on my Eris, I am able to input MMS info and I (of course) am not rooted.
Try this: Install the Quick Settings app from Market and turn off data settings from there. See if you get MMS edit capability after that.

Name: Cricket MMS
MMSC: http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 8080
MMS protocol WAP 2.0

I have a rooted, stock rom hox+. Everything great aside from an issue sending/receiving mms. It will be working fine for a little while after boot, then randomly stop working. Rebooting fixes issue. When the issue is occurring, there is nothing to let me know until I find out I never got a mms someone sent, or someone never got mine. Texting app (tried several, they all do it, currently go sms as main) says it sent just fine. When someone sends me a mms, I get the 'download' button, but it tries for a second then does nothing. The problem didn't start occurring until after I deleted the stock sms app. This makes me think deleting it caused the issue.
Unless someone thinks it is something else, I want to restore the default sms app to see if that fixes it. I was stupid and didn't back it up when I deleted it. Is there an easy way to restore the stock sms app? I'd rather not do a factory reset if I can avoid it.
Thanks =D
Can you specified which ROM you are using? Also can verify if your APN's are correctly installed?
If you follow this path : Settings -> click on Mobile Data left part -> Access point names -> APN's
Do you have a black screen with only APN'S & Menu on top? If yes, then you need to create an APN to regain your DATA access.
Who's your service provider?
I am using the stock rom, up to date (4.1.1). APN's are installed and look correct. I'm with AT&T.
Thanks for the help

Finally updating about jtrue's suggestion. Tested to see if any adblock apps were causing the issue. Turns out that isn't it.
If anyone has other suggestions please let me know, this is beginning to get very annoying.
To reiterate: mms will randomly not send/receive. I've done everything I know to troubleshoot it, at this point I'm hoping for helpful suggestions in that direction, or a pointer on how to restore the stock sms app (hoping that will fix it).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hey guys! Just activated my evo on Ting about a week ago and LTE doesn't seem to work on any AOSP roms.
It connects fine on Sense and speeds are great. On Pac (my primary) it just doesn't connect; under status in settings it does say LTE for the network, but it says disconnected.
Calls/texts work fine though, and if I switch to CDMA/EvDo, 3G works fine as well. I've tried updating profile/PRL in sense then going back to AOSP multiple times, but to no avail.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks!
I have an idea...stop using AOSP.
But seriously, you could try installing the firmware again. See how that might help.

Saw that. But the post says not to flash the touch panel zip on AOSP roms cause it'll cause the screen to be unresponsive...
"If you plan on using an older base ROM, an AOSP ROM, or older version of recovery, then you should NOT install the below standalone file (as it will cause your touch screen to be unresponsive)."
Ting APN
Not sure if you still need this, but you have to update the APN info for LTE to work.
In AOSP rom, go to voice dialer and say "Open APNs". Next, open the LTE internet APN. Update the APN value to n.t8.ispsn. Press menu > commit modifications. Do the same thing for EHRPD internet APN. This should activate LTE for you.
Dammit guys, it's happening again. After the intermittent data drops on CM11, LTE just stopped working. The icon shows, but nothing connects. 3G works fine. Tried reflashing different roms, and LTE only works on Sense. Tried flashing various different Ting APNs which usually works, but nothing. Manually edited APNs, nothing. Updated PRL and Profile, nothing. I don't use much mobile data but this is really frustrating.

Hey Andrew - did you get this working? I can't stand sense and have had my evo for a month on Ting. I've tried some of the flashable zips with cm11 and Omnirom, but can't seem to get LTE and 3G to work at the same time. I'm curious if it's worked for anyone.

No, unfortunately. I ended up switching to the Nexus 5 on TM shortly after. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you use a lot or end up on L or XL on Ting.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck!

I had working LTE for a while on AICP, but then it stopped working after installing another rom and I couldn't get it back. However fizbanrapper's post in the liquidsmooth thread got LTE working again for me on Ting, seems to have the correct APN settings and it works flawlessly. I'm on Liquidsmooth but I assume it will work on other AOSP roms as well.

Awesome. Glad it worked for you. Did you just have to do step A, or did you have to use the rewritten apns-conf?
If the apns file was a necessary step, I'll put in a little more effort and make it a standalone flashable zip file.

If the above does not fit your situation 100%, read no further or your device will get more bugs than Miley Cyrus's....
Even if the above fits you 100%, try this at your own risk. I'm by no means an advanced user and certainly wouldn't call myself a developer.
A. The APN menu
Download & install the Google Gesture Search app from the Play Store. Open it, say yes to the defaults and wait the 20 seconds it takes to index your system. Once all of that is done, use your finger to draw "A", "P", "N" on the screen. This will bring up a list of search results. Choose APNs settings. If there is a list of APN's already there, one of them says something about LTE internet. You can modify the existing values to match those shown below. Otherwise, in the APNs screen, hit the plus to add a new APN. Give it the following values:
Name: LTE
APN: n.t8.ispsn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.plspictures.com
MMS proxy: 68.28.31.7
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default, mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: None
Save the APN. Touch the radio button to the right of the APN to select it. Hit the home button. Cycle airplane mode. You should be able to connect now. I think this alone will get your LTE working, but...
B. If you're not connecting yet:
You might want to play around with some of these settings. The APN protocols can probably just as easily be IPv4v6 instead, but it defaulted to v4, so that's where I left it and I'm not messing with it now. Also when I first connected, I had the MMSC set to http://mms.sprintpcs.com and changed it to plspictures later. I doubt that was important, but like I said already, I'm in over my head here. It's entirely possible that when LTE goes to connect for the first time, that it gets pissed if it doesn't see sprintpcs in that URL. I don't know...
If there were APNs already listed when you performed step A, but LTE doesn't work yet, modify all instances of n.ispsn to ad the t8 in n.t8.ispsn. Also if you show pamsn, modify it to show t8.pamsn. These are all correct values for Ting.
There shouldn't be a need to do this, but you could also try setting your MCC to "310" and your MNC to "00". I haven't personally tried that MCC or MNC, but I've seen those values for Ting elsewhere. If you're still having trouble change the MCC and MNC back , then proceed to step C.
C. If you're still not connected:
Attached is the Ting APN zip file you can flash to help restore Ting LTE. Note that if you perform this step, you will most likely have to go back and redo step A before LTE will work, though you might not if you're adventurous and want to take a risk and flash the zip after first boot. Either way, make a nandroid backup before flashing this.
It should be flashed after the ROM & kernel, but prior to first boot (though it could still work even when flashed after first boot). This overwrites the existing apn-conf.xml file.
D. Last resort:
Ok, if you haven't made a nandroid yet, you really really need to do so now. This works with some ROMs, but causes others to bootloop (even if you follow all of the instructions exactly) and essentially does the same thing as step A but is a bit more forceful about it.
This should only be flashed after first boot. Additionally you want to go through steps C and A before this step will work. This flash overwrites the data file you populated from step A.
Going through step A is still necessary because some additional files get changed when you access the APN settings menu and when you save a new APN. Most ROMs use those additional files to call BS and either bootloop or throw enough system errors to force you to restore the nandroid that you wisely made as was suggested several times before.
Those additional files work differently from ROM to ROM, so I can't make a zip file that works nicely with all ROMs. Or at least I haven't figured it out yet, anyway.
Took a few tries, but the "Last Resort" fix worked for me. Thanks!
I had success with the zip from Step C on CM11 (ocarinaz's build from 6/4 with the 5/8 boot.img).
I've been satisfied with the ROM so I haven't experimented further yet. Will definitely share any findings in this thread if I get the urge for a new ROM.
Thanks for the awesome work on this!!

I rooted my fathers Ting Evo 4g LTE, went through the Dev unlock and rumrunner S-off etc and put the latest cm11 nightly (from the cm download page) on his phone and I could not get data to work at all. So I looked around and found several places like this that said it had to do with the APNs and so I added manually the APN listed and still nothing. it would send sms and phone calls but no data, it wouldn't even say 1X, 3G, or LTE above the signal bars. I moved onto step B, nothing. Step C and flashed the zip file, nothing. And still nothing with the last resort zip. The closest I got was when the 3G symbol appeared above the signal bar but it simply would not connect to the internet. In the quick settings dropdown the signal bars remained orange and there were no up/down indicators at all.
I tried different zips from the Ting forums and some from the Optimus G forums, wiping and reflashing CM11 often to make sure the zips weren't conflicting, and still absolutely nothing! I am really at a loss here. I had to go through and run the JB 4.1 RUU and immediately 3G was working again and everything. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Open it up and select Search APN Settings for this SIM. Select any of the the four options, then select Go to Android APN Settings. Select the bottom option, I forget what it was oringally called because I renamed it. Then change to these settings:
Password= *
Server= *
MMSC= http"colon"//mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms (Couldn't put an actual colon due to new user policy)
MMS proxy= (leave blank)
MMS port= 80 or (leave blank)
MCC= 310
MNC=120
APN type=mms
Then save changes.

So this changes where we send mms through?
OK I made the changes as you noted but mms will still not download.
Is there a way to verify that my phone is using the apn settings that I saved?

Yeah I guess, its the way Pageplus Remote website recommends setting up Go SMS to send MMS.

Depending on your ROM, you may have to turn off WiFi and have 3g on before sending messages. I had that issue with some ROMs. There is an app in the Play store called 8sms. If you go into Settings then MMS settings you can see what MMS settings your phone is currently using.
Anyone knows what settings I should have to download pictures in MMS on a AT&T Mega using Straight Talk?

I woulnd delete the att APN then.
Just choose your newly created APN for ST.
AND.. when finished creating your new APN,
dont forget to "SAVE" it.
When in your new APN settings, tap the bottom left "menu" next to the home hard button.. Menu/save...
Then go back and chose the ST apn.
Put a green dot in it then press back back back to home.
You may have to wait a few seconds for it to start the new data flow.
Good Luck

I get about 8 mbps down and 1.5 up.....It's 3g speeds basically...They state they have LTE/4G but I wouldn't hold to that one...I have never seen it yet...This what I would do...I would call and ask them if you're on the att.mvno or the tfdata mvno....If you have the newer sim on the BYOP plan..they tend to push you on the tfdata side...The att.mvno is for the older sims they were selling at get go...Also...check your mcc and mnc and see if it shows 310 for mcc and 410 for mnc...If it shows 260 for mcc that means it's a T-Mobile sim and you'll have to change the mms settings for T-Mobile...

You can also go here and put in your number and choose android 4.0/4.1 and it should also tell you what server you should be using...
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn#.UyxRMuXru_c
One thing I will add...I had the same similar problems with the mms on my GT-N7000 and what I did was added the settings and saved and rebooted the phone...It would sit there after rebooted sending pictures...but for some reason it takes the server about 5 minutes to identify your service and settings and finally it'll start pushing them through...
An another thing just came to mind...Under Authentication type set it for PAP and CHAP.And add default, supl, mms under APN type..Now down at the bottom set Bearer to Unspecified then save..If you have it set for LTE it won't work...Been there done that one...

Thanks Sugarman. ... yeah, I bought my Sim kit @ Walmart 3 weeks ago.
I used the att variant because I have the 9205. No LTE either because my hardware doesn't support ATT's frequency for LTE.
And im in the "tf-data" APN settings.
Good enough for the price.
Do you know if T-Mobile's no contract 50 a month plan has the LTE frequencies compatible with the 9205?
Thanks

I know it has the 1700mhz band in the service menu...Can't say if it will work for sure...To access it...go to phone..and hit *#0011# hit your menu button and hit key input..Type 1..then back...Hit menu again and hit back again...Then it you should see a menu with phone control listed hit that and you can see supported bands etc...One thing...since the last OTA update and Knox was added...My i9200 won't go in to the service menu now..but before it would with this method...
