[Q] App to Bypass or Find Wifi Proxies - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In my college, there are several Wifi networks but when i connect to any of the wifi network, either it doesn't connects or if it connects, internet doesn't seems to work. I asked them and they told that they have enabled something like proxies. But they are not sharing the proxy with the students.
Is there any app or any tweak which allows to connect to these Wifi networks without proxies or is there any way to fetch the proxy from the network ?
I have Galaxy Mini, CyanogenMod 7

my xperia play wifi can't find my home network

my wifi can't find my home network
i can't do anything without wifi, it sucks, it finds some nearby ones, but except home
please anyone
thanks in advance
I hate to be a Douche but please post non-development threads in the general section.
but as for your questions make sure your Router is broadcasting the SSID.
also type in
*#*#info#*#* and go to the WIFI settings and mess around in there.
Also make sure your home wifi is broadcast on the 2.4ghz frequency. 802.11a and 802.11n networks, although supported on the xperia on the 2.4 channel, also work on 5ghz channels but your phone will not.

[Q] Programmatically searching and choosing a network provider

Hi,
I'm currently developping an application that resets your connection when your signal strength is too low.
I'm trying to do this by searching and choosing your network operator (settings-> wireless and networks -> Mobile networks -> Network operators).
I noticed this way has a few advantages over switching to airplane mode:
- Wifi and/or bluetooth doesn't get disabled
- You don't 'loose' your reception and this can still make calls (tested this; you will still lose your data/internet connection, however)
I'm trying to find some way to automate this when your signal drops too low.
Does anyone know how to do this (preferably without root, but if needed, that's fine as well; Busybox shell commands are fine too)?
Thanks
good one! waiting for that app!

Get ip list of all tethered users

Hello guys,
I know that using wifi tethering app by google code, you can get all list of connected users from dnsmasq.leases file.
In 2.3.x mobiles we have option to do tethering
Settings>wireless and network>Tethering and Portable hostspot
my Question is , where is it's dnsmasq.leases file placed if any or is there any other way to access its parameters or get the list of connected users using wifi tethering.
Best Regards

Android bluetooth tethering + VPN

I've posted this in the HTC forum for my mobile and realized that this may be more of an Android directed inquiry.
I've been able to use Wifi Tethering (from Google Play) (version 2.0.7) to successfully connect a Motorola Xoom to my HTC One X mobile via bluetooth. However, when I connect to my VPN service with my mobile, I no longer have active internet access with the Xoom. The bluetooth connection is still active but when I try to surf the internet the browser just hangs and then errors out. I was wondering if there was something I could do with the DNS settings with the VPN service or IP routing on the mobile to fix this issue.
Can anyone provide a little direction on where to begin troubleshooting this issue? I've Google'd this issue to death for the past four hours and have had zero luck finding anything regarding VPN's and bluetooth tethering. I have found similar issues with WiFi tethering but I believe that protocol works differently. I could be wrong though!

APN settings to WiFi

Ok so I'm not even sure it's possible but I have a phone I'm not using so I was wondering can I set the apn settings to connect to a Wi-Fi network instead of a mobile network.
Thing is my Wi-Fi get a quarter meg dl n a tenth upload on my pc but 6 megs dl n 2 megs upload on the phone so I tried looking for a way to use it as a repeater but apparently it's nt possible with android so I figured if I used Wi-Fi instead of a mobile network n run my hotspot it may work something like a repeater.
So anyway my question is can I set the apn settings to connect to my Wi-Fi network rather than t mobile's mobile data network
