[Q] Why a Vibrant kernel can't work on SGS4G? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I mean its almost the same phone right?
Model SGH-T959 vs SGH-T959V.
Is the Front Facing camera and the Storage Space really sufficient to make a Vibrant kernel not work on a SGS4G phone?
Can someone please explain this to me?
How come there can't be a Generic Galaxy S kernel? one that would work with all(or most) of the Galaxy S phones...
p.s
why this forum?
not a lot of people that have a SGS4G can answer kernel questions and this is more a general kernel question than a SGS4G specific...

Any piece of wisdom would help...

[Q] (Q) How do you Port a ROM?

I'm wondering if anyone knows the simple way of porting a ROM from the i1900 to the Vibrant...
IF there is a "simple" way.
If not, if someone could explain for a newbie like me, I would love it. I think this would be fun to learn =D
Right now, I'm wanting to port Darky 9.4 to the SGS Vibrant.

HI !

Just a question, why is it so hard to development a MIUI port for Samsung Galaxy S2, both Samsung Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy S have it today. Is the S2 so different phone?? I have test a couple of MIUI´S Beta ROM´S but its to much that not working right
It's a question and should be under the Q&A section, right?

and this is the q&a section? confused.... anyway if you kept up with the development of the miui and cm7 from the sgs and the nexus s u would know that samsung dont just hand over everything needed for the device itself. it took ages for samsung to release the drivers for the hardware on the sgs and that makes life near impossible for the devs. its alot harder then just copy and paste files into a new framework. its built from the bottom up on all devices, way i see it if your not smart enough to do it yourself then dont question the people who are doing it

Question About SIII-i9305

Hey Guys,
I used to have an S2,
But unfortunately due to a nasty accident,
I now lost it and its not working anymore...
Im thinking of getting an S3,
I am able to get the i9305 model cheaper than any of the others,
Can anyone please help me with some information here?
Will i be able to flash i9300 custom roms on it?
This is the baseband version on it: I9305DXALI7
What exactly is the difference with this and the more expensive i9300?
Thanks alot
What. The i9305 is cheaper? Link please. Anyways the i9305 is better in terms of specs like 2GB of Ram and LTE support, but in terms of development, it's behind... very behind. And no, you can't flash i9300 roms onto i9305.
I typed this by hand.
How do you know its not working if you lost it ????
jje
im really pleased with this phone but am going to have to be patient as the development of roms is only in its infancy:good:
Lol since you dont seem to know the difference i am assuming you dont know the difference in price. You can actually buy a i9300 for $500 brand new . Cheapest i seen the i9305 is around $740
The i9305 is an upgraded version of the i9300 how can it be cheaper lol

[Q] Can I use motherboard of this phone?

So, I have a broken phone (touchscreen & display) but I think motherboard is intact (with all side buttons and camera&speakers).
So, S5830i is the broken one but I also have fully functional S5830 phone, so If I wish to convert the broken one to WiFi camera, could it be done?
Big thanks!
Search before creating a new thread please. There is a thread to ask all your questions and doubts.
And no you cant interchange the motherboard of two the phones. Both phones are different.
