Tegra 3 Games doesn't work?! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I don't know why but many ganes like shadow gun thd or glowbal doesn't work!
Shadow gun beginns to flicker and than it close.
In glowball I only see the clown face and than some black and white stripes and than it also close!
After a reset from my prime it works fot some time
Does anyone have an idea what's the problem is?

same thing happens to me, but only if i have tablet idle for day or so. then i need to restart it because flickering occurs in every game. its kinda annoying, though

Cant' say i've encountered this issue. Not back when it was stock or now on virtous rom and motley's kernel.
U running fully stock TFP or?

I don't know, I've had some graphical artifacts similar to that, but they were by no means consistent or prevalent. What update are you on, .21? If so, I know that it has been particularly unstable for me but some seem to be having good luck with it.

I have the .21 Version and it is rooted. But i hadn't done anything else.... No other kernels, nothing like that.

Well there's the problem! J/k lol, .21 is the worst version for me so far on stability. I had SOD (never have until now), random reboots, and graphical artifacts in a single sitting not too long after installing it (Earlier today I closed my browser along with a video, only to have the audio continue on inexplicably until I had to just power cycle). But all my games continue to work.
Have you tried a soft-reset using a safety-pin or something in the little hole next to the microSD slot? Some people have reported that actually helping with some stability issues.

No issues here. I'm rooted and on. 21(rooted on previous version and using OTA Root Keeper).

I had the same issues, I ended up Factory resetting my Transformer and now every game works without a hitch. When I got my transformer it had Honeycomb still so I did the normal update provided by Asus and maybe that doesn't work well, like upgrading windows without a new install, there are always issues later. Anyway I hope that helps. I also had quite a high battery drain when docked and I replaced the dock and now that is also resolved.

Issues After Updating Unrooted Tab

I updating my unmodified Tab 10.1 Wifi last night. The update is pretty amazing, if not a bit uglier. But suddenly I am having a ton of issues.
Worst of all is the lag. All the animations are suddenly very laggy and abrupt. Nothing is smooth anymore, when stock Honeycomb used to be very smooth. I talked to my friend, and he isn't having this issue after the official update.
Also, haptic feedback on the stock Android keyboard doesn't work anymore.
Then, Rock Player won't play MKVs with hardware decoding as it used to, and it's COMPLETELY messed up playing it with software decoding. A ton of distortion. Stock player won't play it either.
My dad took my tablet to play Angry Birds, and he says it kept crashing. I tried to play afterward, and it crashed. Just disappears without warning or any FC.
Also, I tried typing this on my tablet. It's now impossible to type (and this isn't limited to browser either) because the tablet is so laggy. Letters are missed, sometimes 3 at a time. I have to hold every button for it to register. Before I could type incredibly fast.
I removed all the widgets and turned off Samsung Apps running in the background, and it's slightly better but still very bad. Any tips guys? Because if not, I'm going to root it and flash a custom ROM. Hopefully the clean start and optimizations will fix it all.

Same thing with me, although I haven't gone through any heavy app use yet, my home screens lag a lot more than they ever did before TW. Google Music also forced closed on me a few times while syncing with the Google servers.
This is after installing a stock build of the OTA via Clockwork. I'm really not too sure what is going on, since mostly everyone else is reporting that everything is very very smooth on their end.
Thanks for the confirmation that at least someone else has my issues. I guess tonight is rooting/flashing night for me. I missed it, after trading my Captivate for a Veer for the next month or two. Though webOS is boss

I Wiped Data and reflashed the ROM, now Im just waiting for a 100 percent charge, and I'm going to try this again. I'll report back.
Here's a question, have you tried restarting the tab, and if you did, did it help any with the lag?
Do a factory restore then after you complete the initial setup, leave it for about 15mins. I did that after I updated since I also noticed some lag on the homescreens and app crashes. Now everything runs smooth as silk and noticeably faster than when it was stock.

Yes I did, 3 times. And no help whatsoever.

Factory restore through settings? I'd need to root it for TiBu first anyway. Thanks, I'll try that before flashing.
Also my tab was completely unmodified. It was android 3.1 as it came out of the box, of which I did the touchwiz OTA update this morning.

OK so I rooted my Tab, flashed Clockwork, backed up all my stuff with TiBu, and factory reset. Most of the lag is gone! I can finally type things really fast without it all going to hell! This makes me happy. Baltic on stock Android keyboard is still gone, but this has been an issue with TouchWiz before on the Captivate. I remember with the Froyo leaks, how the stock keyboard had no haptic... it was fixed eventually. I'm not too worried. So my next step is to flash a new ROM, that one with the black bar. Just for the optimizations, and because I miss flashing since I have a webOS device now. Well thanks for the help with the suggestion for the factory reset, my tablet is usable again! Thanks guys!
Last comment. StarBurst is incredibly smooth I flashed it and can't be happier!
Yeah my problems are mostly gone too. I did a factory reset and then reflashed the rom, then I let it sit after boot-up for 20 minutes, rebooted, let it sit for another 5, and then rebooted again. A lot smoother this time around. Was probably just a bad flash.
Glad yours is working well too!

[Q] Serendipity- Screen timesout in games?

Hey guys, I just flashed serendipity today and I must say I love it thus far. Haven't run into any problems. This maybe my first one but I'm not so sure this is a bug with said rom.
All the games I have installed time out and I have to turn the screen on again. I realize that I can just increase the timeout period (my current workaround) but I wanted to know if anybody is experiencing this issue either on serendipity or other roms. I thought it could have been a flaw with the game but I've tried games like cut the rope, worms, need for speed shift, and words with friends. Its the same problem with every single one. Chime In!
It happened on other ROMs for me as well (NFS Shift)
I wonder if its an incompatibility with our phones then... kinda how like some games refuse to work with it.
It's up to the app to prevent the screen from timing out.
Generally you don't go 30s without pressing the screen though.
Sent from my SGS II
Its definetly game fault, because I dont get screen off in half games i can doodle jump all day without off but in shift and others screen becames black so I use widget to prevent it
Sent from my GT-S5660 using Tapatalk
Yeah true, I just thought it was interesting... I just have to increase screen timeout.. thanks guys=)

After update glowball doesnt work here anymore

Does anybody has also problems with glowball after the new update?
It doesnt work here anymore..
Same here The first time I tried to run it I got strange artifacts on the screen. Now it just crashes back to Homescreen.
Last night I tried to play the New Gangstar game, which previously worked, and this time it didn't play for long before freezing.
I have cold booted the Prime a couple of times since the update and still no luck.
Please don't say Asus managed to break the Tegra 3 gaming experience?

Not after the latest update but I had problems with it after the other updates.
Glowbal wouldn't load.
Go to Google Play and update Glowball.
Worked for me.
I just tried NFS Hot Pursuit and it crashed to home screen before i could finish a race.
Going to try Shadowgun THD once it finishes its download.

Yep. Update it and it works OK. Not that there is much point to it.

Not re-tried it yet as like you say there's not much point to it but other games aren't playing either... so far tried NFS Hot Pursuit, Shadowgun THD and the new Gangstar and they either crash back to the home screen or freeze.
After a reboot everything seems to be working again.

Is it possible the Prime has some sort of memory leak since the update? I have done another cold boot and things are working again but this is now the third cold boot I have done I think since updating yesterday! I haven't installed anything new since the update.

I have the new Gangstar Rio game. it plays great on prime after update. but my new Shadowgun THD leftover pack edition freezes up and screen jumps after a while. sometimes other random games will do the same.
we need to Bring this up to Gary. Something is causing our various games to randomly either freeze or crash. its not the update and its not the games themselves. this happened even before the update. I even had the new Six Guns game from gameloft. it played fine for a few levels then started freezing up. so I uninstalled it. sometimes games would play fine. sometimes they would act funny. usually a fresh reboot clears it but sometimes it still happens, especially on Shadowgun THD.

its not the update, I've had this happen well before the update. actually seems tl have been happening randomly ever since we got on ICS. I don't think its optimized enough yet. or apps still need to be optimized more for ICS.

OK. Cheers for the confirmation demandarin. The only reason I mentioned the update is because I had no problems with lock ups or drops outs at all with any of the games before hand. Gangstar worked perfect for me too as did Shadowgun but since Gangstar and Shadowgun have both done what you explained with the freezing and screen jumps and other games just crash back to the home screen. It doesn't crash the Prime only the games.
I am even suffering strange screen glitches when browsing where for a split second the whole browser is unreadable with strange static like effect then it rights itself. Something else I didn't have previously.
I still love my Prime as I know it can work because it has, it's just so disappointing having to keep cold booting and uninstalling/reinstalling. I am slowly getting tempted to unlock this beast and flash one of the more stable roms I keep reading about but I want to see what Asus has up their sleeve as I have used Asus products for years in PC's and they haven't let me down yet.

[Q] A question for those who have unlocked their Prime.

My Prime has been less than what I expect of it, the browser is really awful at times. It's useable, but that's it. It crashes far too often (both on .21 and .28) even after doing a factory reset (on both versions). Also random reboots if something unexpected happens.
I don't need to RMA my Prime for these issues because as far as I'm aware, this is normal behavior and is a software issue.
However, I can't even RMA if I wanted to. A while ago my sister pushed my tablet off my dresser, causing it to hit the corner and make a nice dent on it. So I'm going to assume that ASUS will mark my tablet as CID when I send it in. (Sister has mental health problems, for those who would ask.) If anyone is even reading this far into this, would ASUS still RMA my tablet? Or am I just screwed?
Question for the unlockers who didn't want to read all of that.
Does unlocking the Prime and installing a different ROM and using the custom build.prop and other tweaks solve all the problems that the Prime has with the browser and overall usability? Does this make it smoother and faster?
I don't know is it solves" all" the problems, but if you choose the right ROM it is very smooth and solve the browser crash problem.

By "all" problems, I absolutely mean software related. I'm mainly concerned for the browser crashing/lagging/stuttering, since it's the most used app on my Prime. The UI in general is smooth, but sometimes it hangs from the Play Store and other background processes.

i think unlocking can help, but it's a risk and a very hard decision.. if you happen to unlock, i can recommend this ROM, smooth as silk...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
if you're rooted, search up Browser2Ram for the TF201.
It works only for stock browser, but I can guarantee that it almost 100% gives you what browsing should feel like with almost no stuttering or any force close.
99% of the problems you stated will disappear if you load the right ROM. As skarfreak stated in post 4, go with Androwook. I have tried ALL other ROMs, and is is the best all around. I actually went back to using the stock browser now. Since you cannot RMA, you might as well take it into your own hands to make your device better.

Alright, thanks! Seems like the best choice to go with. It really sucks that a $650 device isn't as premium as the price tells me it should be, but neither was my phone until I installed a custom ROM.
It pains me to say this, but Android device manufacturers need to step up the quality.

Getting Lags on my new SGSIII with Gameboid

Hey guys I just upgraded from Nokia N8 to the SGSIII
Finally made the switch to android, will miss nokia though
anyways
I love playing gba games on my phone and i never had problems with my nokia
This phone is a beast compared to what I've ever had in phone but yet it lags on my gba roms
The n64 game worked just fine
Only having lag problems with this.
i looked up some threads already and change the frame skip to 1 or even 0 which took care of the video lag a bit but the sound it terrible.
Anyone experiencing this with this phone?
would really like the help
Thanks
I just tested gameboid on my SGSIII (Tmobile version) and experienced no kind of lag. I even changed the frame skip to zero. Cant say exactly what fps it was running at (i couldnt find an option to check) but everything seemed smooth. I tested tried Legend of Zelda Minish Cap, Mario Kart and Pokemon Fire Red. All ran fine. Do you have the same problems with all your roms? Are you running the newest version of Gameboid?

Hey I'm try g to play pokemon red and it lags . I believe I have version 2.47.
Th first time I tried it it ran perfect a d I was so happy but never since. I even did a factory reset. It's smooth with the sound off but it should run perfectly smooth with this phone. I disabled a bunch of the t mobile n Google apps but still no improvement
I can't think what could be causing the problem. If possible you can try redownloading gameboid and reinstalling. Also maybe try a different gba bios (not sure at all if this would really change anything. just throwing the idea out there). Everything is stock on my SGSIII and I havent had any problems running any emulators I've thrown at it. The only setting I usually change is the fram skip (to zero) and I turn off the vibration. Hopefully someone else out there can give you more help with this.

well i'm getting a replacement white 32gb today, i do not like the pebble blue
i'll try it right away before i do anything
i've turned off vibration
sync
i even tried another emulator and same issue
well hopefully someone can figure this out for me
EDIT: UPDATE
Hey just to update, since i got my replacement white 32gb , i haven't had issues at all and it's been almost a week and it's all good.
Might have been something i installed previously.
Thanks for helping out!
