I updating my unmodified Tab 10.1 Wifi last night. The update is pretty amazing, if not a bit uglier. But suddenly I am having a ton of issues.
Worst of all is the lag. All the animations are suddenly very laggy and abrupt. Nothing is smooth anymore, when stock Honeycomb used to be very smooth. I talked to my friend, and he isn't having this issue after the official update.
Also, haptic feedback on the stock Android keyboard doesn't work anymore.
Then, Rock Player won't play MKVs with hardware decoding as it used to, and it's COMPLETELY messed up playing it with software decoding. A ton of distortion. Stock player won't play it either.
My dad took my tablet to play Angry Birds, and he says it kept crashing. I tried to play afterward, and it crashed. Just disappears without warning or any FC.
Also, I tried typing this on my tablet. It's now impossible to type (and this isn't limited to browser either) because the tablet is so laggy. Letters are missed, sometimes 3 at a time. I have to hold every button for it to register. Before I could type incredibly fast.
I removed all the widgets and turned off Samsung Apps running in the background, and it's slightly better but still very bad. Any tips guys? Because if not, I'm going to root it and flash a custom ROM. Hopefully the clean start and optimizations will fix it all.

Same thing with me, although I haven't gone through any heavy app use yet, my home screens lag a lot more than they ever did before TW. Google Music also forced closed on me a few times while syncing with the Google servers.
This is after installing a stock build of the OTA via Clockwork. I'm really not too sure what is going on, since mostly everyone else is reporting that everything is very very smooth on their end.
Thanks for the confirmation that at least someone else has my issues. I guess tonight is rooting/flashing night for me. I missed it, after trading my Captivate for a Veer for the next month or two. Though webOS is boss

I Wiped Data and reflashed the ROM, now Im just waiting for a 100 percent charge, and I'm going to try this again. I'll report back.
Here's a question, have you tried restarting the tab, and if you did, did it help any with the lag?
Do a factory restore then after you complete the initial setup, leave it for about 15mins. I did that after I updated since I also noticed some lag on the homescreens and app crashes. Now everything runs smooth as silk and noticeably faster than when it was stock.

Thanks for that.
Yes I did, 3 times. And no help whatsoever.

Factory restore through settings? I'd need to root it for TiBu first anyway. Thanks, I'll try that before flashing.
Also my tab was completely unmodified. It was android 3.1 as it came out of the box, of which I did the touchwiz OTA update this morning.

OK so I rooted my Tab, flashed Clockwork, backed up all my stuff with TiBu, and factory reset. Most of the lag is gone! I can finally type things really fast without it all going to hell! This makes me happy. Baltic on stock Android keyboard is still gone, but this has been an issue with TouchWiz before on the Captivate. I remember with the Froyo leaks, how the stock keyboard had no haptic... it was fixed eventually. I'm not too worried. So my next step is to flash a new ROM, that one with the black bar. Just for the optimizations, and because I miss flashing since I have a webOS device now. Well thanks for the help with the suggestion for the factory reset, my tablet is usable again! Thanks guys!
Last comment. StarBurst is incredibly smooth I flashed it and can't be happier!
Yeah my problems are mostly gone too. I did a factory reset and then reflashed the rom, then I let it sit after boot-up for 20 minutes, rebooted, let it sit for another 5, and then rebooted again. A lot smoother this time around. Was probably just a bad flash.
Glad yours is working well too!

I updated the phone at tmobile because it wouldn't update from my computer at home. I was running stock j16 and now the phone has these problems, any help would be appreciated
gps no longer works wont lock and takes a long time to find sats thirty minutes or more. I cleared the caches and still no worky, worked fine on j16.
alarm clock wont work?
ringer will work and then not work?
Phone is lags and is glitchy, it has not froze like it did when new.
I am thinking about loading a rom on this phone as it is my third vibrant, and the other two had issues and this one worked fine with a little lag. and now it sucks as bad as the two that got returned. I did load a rom on one of them before I returned it and it kept freezing up to the point that I had to pull the battery.
any suggestions would be appreciated
I've heard of issues with phones that upgraded form 2.1 -> 2.2. My father's being one. He refuses to root his phone or install a custom ROM but he said that the Samsung GPS Restore app from the market helped him.
Not sure about the alarms or ringer issues. Make sure you go into settings and set the ringtone for each one again.
However, I would recommend installing a custom ROM. It will give you a fresh install (always good!) and more than likely a much faster/more enjoyable phone .
Root the phone and install a custom rom there is benefit using the stock.. If it is giving you problems just abandon and load something decent like, Axura, EDT, Trigger or Bionix
I was thinking of loading honey 2.4, but when I read all of the info on the roms, it gets confusing with all of the different kernals and lag fixes etc. I tried axura (I hope I spelled it right) and it was really buggy on the phone I sent back. It kept freezing and falling a sleep to where I had to pull the battery and re boot. I have been hesitant ever since. I use this phone a lot and really depend on it for business. My G1 was a lot mor dependable. lol.
Jusr root it and install a custom rom. Bionix-v 1.3.1 is great. And you cannot brick these phones unlesss your a complete idiot... phone is worth owning once a custom rom is on. Before that these things are grass

I recently bought a g tab but it's still in the mail. In anticipation of its arrival, I was wondering what the experience of people who recently purchased their g tab (within the last few weeks) has been. Specifically,
Did you play with the stock rom? What did you like/not like about it?
Did you install a custom rom? If so, which one? If not, did you do anything to make your stock rom experience more enjoyable?
I plan to play with the stock rom for a few days before deciding to mod.

Got mine before the recent rush...
Play with stock ROM? Yes... Hated nearly everything but appreciated the concept.
Install Custom? Yes... about two hours in. Knowing I would never have to deal with the initial stock load again made the experience very enjoyable ;-) Tried several settled on TnT Lite. Eventually upgraded to TwoTapsX but I rarely leave a ROM installed for more than a few days before I start playing again.
Oh... "Soft" bricked on day three or four... and several times since then. The devs here have supplied some great information and the community is happy to share it. Makes it a little easier to deal with that inevitable feeling of panic...
Welcome aboard and enjoy.
I got mine a few days ago from woot . I am sticking with stock for right now. I do not think switching over a ROM is necessary for me at this point. Since I am new to the android system, I want to learn how it works before i go in and switch stuff up. Also, with the rumors of an update in the 'near' future, I thought i might wait to see what happens. Of course, near could mean 3 months.
stock was a little annoying at first (maybe cause I didn't know what I was doing), but I enjoy it. Maybe it is because I have not experienced TnT Lite or played with any other tablets, but stock seems to run just fine for me. the stock app store is sub par, but it gets the job done. I downloaded the amazon marketplace app and got a few apps from there.
I am not the main user on it, my wife is, so mostly angry birds is being run haven't pushed its limits much.
Got mine yesterday. The stock ROM lasted the 10 minutes it took me to root the thing and install vegantab. This thing is blazingly fast. Nice bump up from the Archos 101 I previously had. I'm missing the kickstand and HDMI port the Archos had. Other than that the gtab is better. The screen angle viewing is pretty much a wash. Great buy from woot.
Got mine last night. I see what many are saying about the viewing angles, but I also don't find it that distracting. I can see how a glare reducing screen saver might help and will probably buy one. Charged it and updated to 3588 (while coaching my sons soccer team). Played with tapntap for about a minute and knew I hated it (I'm on my 3rd Android phone, an Evo and all have been rooted and heavily modded). Installed clockworkmod, partitioned storage and installed VEGAn. Much better. Unfortunately, I didn't get a whole lot of time to play further. I did notice that the market is missing a ton of apps like all browsers, es file manager (was installed in stock rom) and a bunch more. I'll look into resolving that this evening. One issue I have with the capacitive buttons beyond no back light is the placement. When using the tablet in landscape (most of the time?) I found myself accidentally hitting the back button repeatedly.
I recieved mine on Tuesday afternoon. I have not had a lot of time to fool with it yet. So far I have kept the stock ROM (as suggested by roebeet and others) until I get used to it. This is my first Android device, so I'm at a low point on the learning curve.
First impressions: the interface is fairly intuitive. I found most everything I was looking for.
The viewing angle is also a non-issue to me so far. I don't plan to watch videos or play games with a lot of animation, so I don't care about that. I may change my mind later when I try to read documents and/or books, we'll see.
Went to the app store and downloaded a couple of free games. I had no problems or issues with downloading or gameplay (very simple games). One game screen was distorted a bit from stretching to the larger screen, but it was a non-issue to me.
I did some web browsing, and had the same issue as jp8tr: kept accidentally brushing the "back" button in the middle of reading something. Watched a short youtube video and the playback was just fine. I noticed some pages loaded slowly and occasionally it would hang.
Overall, I'm happy with it and think it will suit my purposes nicely. I think I probably will change the ROM at some point, but I need to be a little more savvy before I launch off into that.
So I got mine in, and on first boot up, I liked the TnT UI, but the more I played with it the less I liked it. It’s a great design concept, but I feel it’s more of an alpha build of the UI then something that should be in production. Give it a few more rev and it may be good. Today I plan on putting on CM7 RC3 and see how it likes like. I have been using CM for a while now on my different phones so I expect it to work well on the gtablet.
As far as the viewing angle, in landscape it works well, but in portrait mode not so well on the dark spots. but not a deal breaker for me.
Kept getting errors with the stock ROM
I got 2 of these in on Monday from Woot. 1 for the fiancee and 1 for myself (it was her B-day present but I couldn't resist not getting one too). I had also researched and figured modding it would be immanent so I felt it was a good idea to have one to "test" things on and then her's to keep running as smoothly as possible (she doesn't have patients..)
So we charged them and booted them up and after about 30 minutes of constant errors I decided to install TNT lite on mine, and after a few minutes of playing with that, installed the same on hers. It runs a lot faster and doesn't give me the constant errors. (Weird that not everyone seems to get constant errors like we were getting with stock)... Since then we have installed the free ADW launcher and I'm loving it with the exception of the top bar (the one that has the clock, wifi status, battery, etc.....) seems to want to hide (even when I have it set not to). Its actually like I can slide the screen left and right (to change to different home screens, like is expected), and can scroll up and down (but just the amount that that top bar takes up (I think this is called the Status Bar?). Curious if anyone has seen this, so far searches are not finding anything.
Other than that, it running pretty good, speed wise it blows away my original Droid phone. I see that Robeet posted a new version of TNT lite that will take care of the sleep issue and will upgrade to that in a few days once more people have posted on it. I'm new at modding phones/tablets and prefer not to be a guinea pig
I got mine about a week before the wooters, I went with vegan 7. I love this thing, it is fast and does everything I want it to do. Flash plays without a hiccup, pages scroll smoothly. Market Place has nearly everything I need, and if you can't find it there, you can find it elsewhere. Only issues I have are the viewing angles (won't pretend its not an issue), capacitive buttons being unlit and accidently pushed, the sleep issue, and an issue where my internal storage doesn't sync back after disconnecting from a of sometimes. It's an awesome tablet though, glad I skipped the archos 101.
Got my Woot gTab last night.
Played with the stock ROM for all of 15 minutes. It kept dropping my wireless and various other oddities. I let it do it's update to stock and messed with it some more. I really wanted the market and all of my apps I had stored in AppBrain.
Loaded Clockworkmod and then went to VeganTab 7 with Clemsyn's 7 kernel. This thing flies and I am slowly getting it to where I want it with my widgets and apps.
I also use Kindle quite-a-bit and reading on this is great. The viewing angles have not been an issue for me AT ALL. If anything, I love the viewing angle and heres why. When in portrait mode and reading a book, no one can see or read over my shoulder! When in landscape mode and surfing the web, I never had an issue with viewing angle (sitting in bed with the gTab on my lap). Viewing angle is non-issue for me and in all honesty I prefer that someone next to me on a plane or otherwise cannot see the screen. Call me paranoid.
My only complaint so far is that it powers off after going to sleep. Not sure if there is a fix for that, I have yet to find a setting. Not a huge deal as it boots fast, but I would still like to hit the power button and come up to the unlock slider and then home screen.
I got mine yesterday. Unfortunately after charging for over an hour, I wasn't able to boot it up. It was stuck in a boot loop. I am guessing that whoever installed the kindle app/Flash/Angry Birds janked it up. With help from roebeet I was able to recover it and then flash it to 3558. After that I installed tnt lite 4.4 and it is running like a champ.
The viewing angle is a security/privacy feature.
Great impressions everyone.!
Got mine yesterday. After playing with the Stock ROM for a couple hours put on TNT Lite. Got the boot loop so went back to stock ROM and tried TNT again and worked with no issues.
Works great so far!
The viewing angles hasn't been that much of a problem so far. I do feel I need to get a screen protector though.
I played with stock for about an hour and then put TNT Lite on it and Clemsyns v7.
I don't mind the screen angles too much, its not as bad as some people make it seem.
I am finding it to be sluggish. Not so slow its unusable, but not what I would consider responsive or snappy as some people have described it.
For example, when I was entering my google account information, after entering my password it took pressing the 'next' button thrree times before it started loading the next screen. I'm not sure if its busy, or if it is not registering my touch.
I've noticed it also when launching items, for example pressing the browser button 2 or 3 times to get it started.
I initially thought it was just me, but then when I was watching some of the review youtube videos, I noticed that sometimes when launching an app or a game the reviewer had to touch the icon twice to get it started.
This isnt a troll, the pros of it outweight the negatives, its just something I'm going to have to get used to dealing with. Maybe I'll look for some kind of load or busy indicator so I'll just know to be patient and wait rather than keep pressing. The problem is im not sure if my touch was actually registered or if its just busy.
Did you run the calibration app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934500 ? Helped for my touch issues.
Got my Gtab yesterday. have problem to update the first time, keep fC. Turn off and reboot, then the update went fine. I find the stock is still very slow even with the update. Follow the instruction, installed CWM 0.8, then installed Calkulin V1.1, then updated the kernel, install hacked flash player 10.1. The market works but don't know if I get the real "gmarket", I saw word "sprint" gmarket screen. How do I just select "free" apps? I dont' seem to find the option. The gtab is very responsive and fast with this rom. However, the rom still has the "sleep to death" problem" like the others. Flash works. Viewing angle does kinda bad, however, someone on forum suggest that if you turn the gtab upside down, the view angle get approve, which I tried and I think it's much better. I wondering if I can take out the screen myself and installed the other way. I use rockplayer for video, it plays very good. Problem, when playing video, the screen will not rotate, so I can use the "better" side of the view angel, that also apply to play angry bird, rotating not work. Web and home screen are rotated as I turn the tablet. If the video and games rotate, then it's good for me. When you need privacy, you use hold the table regular way, to share, turn upside down. ooh, Hulu works. Anyone has the rotation on video and angry bird problem like me? Also, does anyone has any instruction on how to set up home screen with widget? I am so new to android, I kinda loss with play the widget last night.
Mine should come today or tomorrow and I'm planning on playing with the stock rom for couple days before I move on to something else. This will be my first tablet and I'm looking forward to the experience.
I initially had my eyes on the Xoom wifi but I couldn't pass on the WOOT deal and saved me some $$$
Got mine last night. Played with the stock ROM. The interface had it's pro's and cons. The biggest con was that I was getting quite a few force close dialogs for even the pre-installed apps.
Since then I have installed a custom ROM, TNT Lite 4.4.0, along with using LauncerPro. After doing this, I haven't had nearly the number of force close dialogs appearing. I am however still having issues finding apps that I want through Android Market, so I'll see if going to an older version of TNT Lite will help, else I will have to find the APK files and install them manually. However, even with how it is, it is still much better then the APP store that came with the stock ROM.
Keep em rolling!
Oh-some responses folks, keep them rolling. I'm still waiting for mine
to come in the mail. It should get here today or tomorrow .
I saw something about 'wiping data/cache' before modding on a bunch of the
threads. Is this necessary for brand new devices, once you get the OTA update?
Also, do you need CWM to do the data/cache wiping, or can this be done with
stock tools?
Hopefully I won't get attacked for asking this but I have seen some lag on the device; both in videos and playing with it. Browsing the web seemed to produce the most lag. It just didn't seem as zippy as it should. I know the device as a Qualcomm Processor which isn't as powerful as the Exynos processor but I didn't think you could tell a difference. Can I get some feedback on this before I purchase the device tomorrow? Thanks

It's impossible to tweak until you get the device. It's best to do some research on these forums before or after you buy the phone.
I personally have no lag at all, along with many other people on this forum.
Installing a different launcher and custom roms are just one of the many things you can do to improve performance.

I am currently on one of the ICS leaks, using nova launcher, and have virtually no lag. ICS seems to have fixed video playback being a bit jumpy for me, though it wasn't a huge problem on GB. On GB I was running Solaris Prime, overclocked to 1.83 GHz, and using ADW EX, experienced no lag whatsoever there either. I use Dolphin Browser HD instead of the stock browser most of the time, and that had given me very smooth performance all around, as well as access to desktop sites instead of mobile sites.
If you get a Note that seems super laggy, exchange it for a new one in your first 30 days until you get a good one. It seems as though most Notes are fine, with only a select few experiencing poor performance, most of which can probably actually be attributed to the person's own apps and not the actual device.
Buy it and be prepared for all other phones to pale in comparison to this beast...it has ruined all other phones for me, so that I will likely only upgrade to the Note 2 when that rolls around. This thing is crazy awesome.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on picking it up and loading the custom rom Saurom which everyone says is super stable.
I noticed *minor* lag with scrolling using Dolphin Browser in gingerbread. In ICS, it is smoother than an iphone.
Noticeable Lag
I upgraded my galaxy note to the ICS upgrade. I was a horrible experience as seems to be the norm with ATT rom upgrades. First there was no OTA support for the upgrade. I had to search for the Samsung Kies app and download it. Which took almost 2.5 hours for a 70mb file. Though the program did work okay once i got it downloaded and installed.
So now im upgraded to the long awaited ICS for the ATT Galaxy Note. It turns out its complete garbage. It has all but crippled my phone. The phone lags so bad i cant flip from screen to screen without having to stop and wait 10 to 15 seconds for it to reload each screen. Half the apps no longer work as they should. My Go messenger no longers alerts me when i get a text. When i take a picture to send it to someone. The picture never sends and it doesnt save. it just gets lost in limbo forever.
Answering calls is a futile experience as well. If the phone doesnt crash and reset. It blacks the screen out from lag so long that the voicemail picks up before i can answermy call. So them i have to wait for all this to stop go to my log see who called and try to call them back. Then the phone proceeds to crash back to the home screen 2 out of every three times i try to make a call.
This upgrade is garbage. Give me back gingerbread. Before this upgrade my galaxy note was the fastest most responsive phone i have ever seen. I rarley even had to turn it off to reset it and i think i have only taken the battery out of it once since i got it on launch day. Now the phone has been rendered completley usless.

Clearly your phone experience is "not" normal as compared to most users here.
Perhaps you are unlucky and have a bad upgrade ?
Mine went well , and I only did it to test the update to gather information .
If you are not rooted ...might I suggest doing so , and trying one of the many great roms here.
Or you could restore back to GB to restore your original functionality.
Either way ...I'm sorry that your phone experience has been so miserable. And surely there is help here for you ...g

Thanks for the reply. I used to really enjoy my galaxy note. But the last two weeks or so have been unbearable. Im no tready to go with a custom rom since it seems to em that most of them are not fully functional in some way or another. But i did read on here that some people had very successful upgrades. So im going to figure out what i need to do to redo the upgrade and try again.
I am running the offical att flavor of ics and it sometimes wants to multitask like the iphone. I do get a lot of music skips when running power amp.
If you're nervous about stability, don't be. At the very least you could flash a debloated stock based ROM, or if you're feeling a little more adventurous try Cyanogenmod. Very stable, more so than the ICS update.
Its common knowledge that carriers and OEMs make horrible stock ROMs. Everyone has had a problem like you, and have taken the plunge of flashing a ROM.
There's nothing to be afraid of. Its not a life decision that you can't turn back on. Its easy to go back to stock if you're scared. But there's around 10 great options in the Development section if you want stability.
Bloatware and Touchwiz cripples the phone. Thank goodness for XDA devs!

Background: Updated my ICS unlocked i9300 to JB finally last night.
Can anyone advise why when i was on ICS, i was experiencing no lag at all and the entire experience was really nice, but now i have upgrade to JB the experience is very poor due to allot of lag and general system slowness? For example, if i kill the messaging app from long pressing the home key (with a kill all open tasks), when i re-open the messaging i will be greeted with only phone numbers on the display initially but then after a sec or 2 the names and pics are populated. Also another exapmle would be the keyboard (stock one), when clicking in the URL box of any browser or in the messaging app (again stock as before), the keyboard takes quite some time to appear!?!
It seems very odd to me as JB is supposed to be very good with it's "butter" but is not performing for me at all in the way it should?!?
Any help greatly appreciated as i now no-longer like my phone very much :crying:

Any help greatly appreciated as i now no-longer like my phone very much :crying:

Problem is not jellybean... its you.
There's no way jellybean is very slow compare to your ics..
If ics is faster for you then go back to the ics.

'Crest+', very unhelpful answer and the type of answer you'd expect from dumb asses that use nokia. If you bothered searching the net you'd realise that this issue has affected allot of people and i thought i'd ask the experts at xda - but i guess trollers have made it here as well.
Wiping was not done in my case due to the fact that it was not advised to do so via any point of the update and should have been setup to be more like the upgrade from froyo to GB and actually worked properly without having to do so on other devices. Why would anyone want to wipe the cache and dalvik if not prompted to do so via the official process?!?
Did u try factory reat?

No as it was not required but it would appear this is the only possible resolve... Joy, time to backup and restore tonight which knowing kies will take about 4.5 hours...

and here i thought you were the one trolling...
but since there are people experiencing also..
I apologize for my response earlier..
.....
Here's what you need to do... try flashing a full firmware from sammobile...probably the latest firmware to make sure its updated...
then flash it using odin... I never experienced this so called lag that's why I answered the question based on my experience.

Not a problem, i will try the factory reset first as i should have the full latest seeing as it was stock updated through kies last night. Worst case scenario is i go back to custom romming it.

Due to me not having much time at the point of needing to format and restore i decided to carry on for a few days until getting the opportunity, but oddly the issue seems to have gone now
The only thing i can link it to is the fact that i ran through all the settings and was greeted with the annoying 'help' popups, and once i cycled through al the menus getting rid of the last popup...no more lag The phone is running very smooth (as it should), but really can't see how the menu aids were slowing it down (if they were), but they are the only thing i can link the issue to :silly:

I have tried many jb roms and i have to say that although jb is extremely smooth,I always find it extremely slow compared to good old GB.
I have the feeling that they have sacfificed speed for smoothness!
Same thing on mine Galaxy S3
I've just experienced same thing as you..
Sluggish, laggy.. and everything after i did official update to Jelly Bean..
Resolve:
Turn phone off
VOL UP+HOME+POWER..
Wipe cache...
That's it
At least it's working for me
Cheers

Yeah i did this as well after the post about the guide menus (forgot to post update), and the phone is back to it's glorious state.
I along with many other T-Mobile S5 users have patiently awaiting the arrival of 5.0 Lollipop for our beloved device...........Its finally here and is beautiful to look at but a pain in the ass to use.
WHY??!?!?!?
I've been running the update since its launch in the U.S. and its ridiculously slow and unresponsive! WTH Samsung?
Simple things like opening the SMS app takes long to load and even longer to load the conversations.
Tapping the recents key takes almost 4 seconds to open the task switcher.
simple animations that occurred seamlessly on kitkat now take seconds to go thru.
Toast popups take forever to dismiss.
compared to 4.4.4 kitkat, lollipop drops the ball on speed when it should have no problems as its running 2.5GHZ.
i stuck with it for almost 2 weeks, i ran multiple cache wipes and factory resets only to have the same slow unresponsive $600+ device.
i now run Fusion Rom 5.0.2 and the phone is lightning fast! no complaints on the speed but to loose so many GS5 specific features absolutely sucks! no more fingerprint scanner, no more IR blaster drivers, no more GS5 camera.......which i loved!
Fusion ROM is my savior but damn, i still want my factory software with all my features back but at the speeds kitkat provided.....is that to much to ask for???
has anyone had this issue? its the same on my girlfriends s5 but lets face it, shes a chick and is nowhere near technologically inclined lol.
please help meh! any alternatives? different kernals? something please!

Sounds like a bad flash or incompatible data lingering causing the lag. I would start with a new Odin flash immediately followed by factory data reset. Also, turn off animations from developer options.
My stock, rooted setup is very smooth w/no lag.

That's something I haven't tried. I was rooted on stock 4.4.4, I unrooted and reflashed the stock recovery and ran the OTA. I didn't really do a clean install, I still retained all of my app data and user data. That could be the issue. I'm surprised I didn't think of that in the first place. I'll flash the stock sammobile lollipop firmware thru Odin and will post my results, hopefully it helps. Thanks for the input.

Remember even the Odin .tar is a "no wipe" .tar so you will need to do a factory data reset after flashing in order to get a true clean install.
I like Omega ROM. It's a TW ROM that is close to stock and is fast and smooth. It's in the 900F section. A LOT of people use it.
My experience was EXTREME loss of battery life. Like it went down by 75% even with factory resets and all that. I finally just put KitKat back on and everything is better. Not sure Lollipop has enough to tempt me away from KitKat again.

Ok, i flashed the stock 5.0 firmware with odin and did a factory reset.
So, from what i can tell.......and tell me if this makes sense.
After starting clean, i had the exact same issues so decided, let me be patient and maybe the new os needs time to settle. Since the 30th of march, lollipop has slowly "healed" itself......day by day, it gets faster and more responsive but.....theres always a but.......ive been presented with more problems. I get non stop toasts saying contacts app has stopped working.....even tho i NEVER use the contacts app. My heart beat scanner doesnt work, the red light no longer shows. My led doesnt work properly, it only shows when the phone is charging and now, the worst of them all. My battery life has gone down the drain BIGTIME. To the point where my phone is dead in an hour with minimal use......today, I did a reflash when I got to work except this time, I chose to boot to boot loader and just let the phone sit for a few hours. Now she works great, fast as hell and responsive but with the same dramatic battery decrease...........I'm now married to my charger.
Stock just doesn't seem to be living up to its promises in the battery life department which is a really big deal.
This sucks......
I'm now running KitKat and can definitely agree, the materialistic ui is nice as hell but that's not enough to take me back to lollipop.....at least as far as the tmogs5 klte goes.

^ You may want to try flashing a custom kernel like ktoonsez's . For the contacts app force closes, disabling "Google+" app helps.
2.5GHz? Noooo, more like 1.4GHz. Use CPU Z and see for yourself. The governor is interactive and I barely see the phone run at 2.5GHz. Lollipop has been slower in some parts but it has resolved some kitkat issues. 5.1 is very stable. Sammy needs to skip 5.0.1 and 5.0.2.
