Input on what an Amaze is worth? - HTC Amaze 4G

In the opinion of whoever replies to this, what would a literally New in box, unlocked white HTC Amaze 4g sell for? I was just wondering what the members of this forum thought.
Thanks!

NIB, Unlocked would be around $500USD. Though that price point may change as more people switch to HTC One.

Make sure u sell it fast before the one series drops and kills some value for the amaze. I'd sell mine (if I were to sell it rooted and sum unlocked) for no less than $450... And mine is near mint (no dings, dust, or scratches and protected with case and screen protection) Figure price of accessories when u sell it too.
Maybe sell it rooted with an 8gb SD card loaded with all ROMs/Kernels/Themes/etc so they can pick. Might help value... Idk

Alright, and it would technically be taken out of the box to root and unlock sim, but I actually have a 32 gig sd card, so I guess that could help. So you guys think 475ish is a good starting price for all that?

500 is a good start... Could always try 550... Check eBay and amazon... See what the market demands

Alright, thanks.
Now, if I send my phone into T-Mobile for a replacement while it's rooted with an unlocked bootloader, will they send it back? Do I need to like relock the bootloader, flash the stock ruu and what not?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G

I don't know if you need to reset the bootloader to locked, but I'm pretty sure you need to load the stock ROM.

I think there's a thread for restoring to stock, so I'll double check there. Thanks people!

You MUST relock bootloader to flash a stock ruu unless you are restoring a backup of a stock rooted setup in which that is not stock ruu. If that makes sense

[Q] I'm selling my Thunderbolt, un-root or leave rooted?

I'm thinking I might be forced to sell my HTC Thunderbolt. Right now I am running the latest BAMF 2.1, and my question is, can I sell my phone and be able to meet someone at a Verizon Wireless and have the rooted Gingerbread Tbolt activated to whoever the buyer will be? Or do I need to flash back to bone stock unrooted 2.2? I'm hoping to leave it as is and just do a data wipe so that perhaps mine will have a little bit of an edge over the other phones I'm seeing posted now. I hate to sell it but times are tough. Thanks for any advice! -Phil
Most of the phones I have sold I have left rooted

Cool, well I guess its worth a shot... I guess I'm overthinking it but I was concerned about reactivating the phone if it is on the GB radio and running a completely un-factory rom... Paranoia I guess

To be honest most reps who set it up won't even notice and if they just do the *228 the computer system won't even be able to tell I used to work at Verizon and did this all the time

I'd leave it as is, custom rom & all. Whoever buys it will most likely appreciate it. If they've had a rooted HTC before, they can figure out how to swap roms/radios.

[Q] Returning relocked rezound?

So i really want to unlock but im worried about it still saying re-locked at the top if i ever have to send it back for any reason just in case. Maybe im just paranoid but i have already had 1 replacement and i don't want to have trouble if i need another. Anyways, my question is has anyone successfully returned a rezound BY MAIL. i dont care about if it worked in a store, i have to send it back by mail. Has anyone done it? If so, post your results
PS. I am not new to rooting, i had a Dinc and loved all the roms for it but you could always get it back S-on if you needed a replacement and there's no way to do that with this one.

You still have HTC's Warranty, as for Verizon.. A store Visit they won't really bother going as deep as checking the bootloader... A mail in to Verizon they would notice once they try to Debug it before selling it off as Refurbished and sending you another
But DO they check and debug that deeply. Going to a store is really just not an option for me and I don't want to be stuck with a defective phone if I can't get it replaced and its a hardware problem.
EDIT: Also, what does HTC's warentee cover vs. Verizon's?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
HTC claims they will cover all HW issues NOT related to unlocked bootloaders. Verizon is kinda up in the air. I can say plenty of people have said that they have sent multiple phones back to Verizon while still rooted and s-offed, so not just the rezound and have never been charged.

In all reality it comes down to the individual person at Verizon who checks the phone... Somebody might load up the Bootloader and See "Unlocked" and all hell breaks loose... Or some dude might just ignore it and flash a Factory Locked Bootloader and move on..
As for Warranty IDK.... Check the manuals that came with the phone
So, here's the better question, has anyone here actually been slapped with a fine for returning an unlocked bootloader?

So far as we are aware, noone has. To be honest, as tach said, they might just flash the stock bootloader and go on. Depends on if that employee wants extra work or not.

Is this at the store or at a return center? Not sure of the terminology for the location where a VZW employee would have the opportunity to flash an engineering bootloader.

I don't think they will go that deep and check the bootloader, when my OG droid antenna crapped out on me I brought it in on cyanogenmod and they didn't even notice, the employees in most of the cases don't know squat about the phones and what to do with them

Grounding the contact just forces the phone into download mode so they can unlock it. The only other way to get there (that I know of) is to softbrick the phone by breaking the hboot signature.
Damn. People had to get really clever to get to that. That's amazing. Hopefully our way forward will be simpler and safer. I'll bet many people traded the the rezound for something simpler to S-off

Quick Question

I've got my old thunderbolt rooted running thundershed 1.6 CM7, my friend needs a phone to use for a few days until the new battery for her droid incredible 2 comes in. Am i able to just swap out the sim cards and activate her number on the phone without unrooting? I'd rather not have to go through all that hassle if its only going to be for a few days. Any help quickly would be appreciated
I don't know if activating on cm7 is possible but you can activate the phone while it is rooted. Maybe make a nandroid backup and switch to a stock sense rom to activate the phone and restore back afterwards. You will need the new sim and you will need to have them call Verizon to activate the sim. Do not dial *228 it can screw a thunderbolt up big time.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the quick response I figured i probably couldn't on CM7 but wasn't sure since i've never had to do this before lol. Does her getting a sim cost any money or is it simply just going to verizon and asking for one? I ask because her current phone is an Incredible 2 with a verizon vodafone sim card in it right now.
No that kind of sim is different. That is a GSM sim. The thunderbolt needs an lte sim. You can order them over the phone through customer service which is what I do. Usually takes two days if you get them during the week. If you order on a Friday you'll get it on Monday. If you get one from the store make sure it is a corporate Verizon store or they will try to charge you for it. I say it is better to do it over the phone yourself because at the store the rep is going to want to handle your phone and if you don't want them to know it is rooted then I wouldn't suggest that unless you just don't care.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
But really they don't care, hell they're either afraid to root or root themselves (speaking from lots of experience), but they don't like make a note of it and damn your warranty.
They also have no idea that you can unroot and make it look as though you never rooted.... boy.

Although all this is true it is still not worth the risk. They can note your account though and when you try getting a warranty replacement charge you hundreds of dollars for a replacement when they see you don't have one. I have heard of people that were charged after sending a phone in for warranty replacement and they noticed it was rooted.

Selling phone -- need to go back stock

Hello! I'm selling my evo, so I'm needing to get it back to factory settings. I unlocked the phone with HTC Dev, it's s-on, and running Mean ROM ICS.
It's been a while since I've done it, and I can't remember much about the process. The phone doesn't need to be unrooted or bootloader locked, it just needs to be able to receive OTA updates. Recovery is loaded on the device. I don't recall the name of the recovery, but it's mentioned frequently on these forums.
If any other info is needed, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
How much are you selling it for? I'm just curious because I'm interested in selling mine too.

Get the S-off using moonshine or face palm and than you can use viper ruu to go back to stock without the tampered message on boot loader.

Sounds good, I'll check into that after work. Looks to be exactly what I'm looking for.
Judging from good condition, clean ESN phones on ebay, I'm hoping to get around $170. I've seen a few sell for that, and even a few bad ESN phones go for $120-130. Realistically, I'm guessing it'll sell for around $150.
I kept it in a case the entire time. I really wish that glossy back didn't scratch so easily, otherwise it'd be in excellent condition.
