Wrong kernel - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i install a wrong kernel and it will no longer go to the main window. stuck always in boot SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 please help people

Flash the correct kernel thru odin?
If you're not sure which one to flash, go for Siyah/Neak/Speedmod GB or ICS depending on which system you're on.

Flash any rom (compatible with the phone) via Odin, like:

[Q] Problem with installing the new VillainROM on SGS II

Hello,
I just install the new villain rom, but the problem is after the final restart the screen is stick with this angry dark droid pic. I can turn it of and when turn on again is the same. I dont know if this is normal and should i wait it more then 10 minutes.
If you have waited 10 minutes you can figure she probably aint going to boot. I would flash back the stock rom via odin and boot to make sure you are back at ground zero. Then I would flash the cw 4.xx kf2 kernal in odin. You will now be rooted and have the latest cwm recovery. Place the villian rom on the root of your external and boot into recovery and do a reset data/wipe. Then go ahead and flash villain while still in recovery. The phone will boot. Nab the kf2 radio on page one of villian's thread and flash it in odin. Last, flash the cw 4.xx kf2 kernal again, you can do this in cwm and you should be living large. Various firmware and rom flashing/odin etc thread here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 Chainfires thread is here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Just flash again and follow the instructions is what i suggest .

If you came from a stock ROM and didnt wipe data through recovery then that is your issue..
As mentioned, follow the in thread instructions, to the letter....

Galaxy Note - Gingerbread/ICS Update - Help!

I have a Samsung Note that I tried to upgrade when the ICS update leak came out, and it changed the Baseband to I717UCLC5 (which is ICS) but the Kernel is still 2.3.6 (GB).
I've tried Odin, and it always fails, I've tried rooting, it fails, and I'm stuck on GB and want to update/root/anything.
I think I need to either flash the Baseband back to GB stock, or the Kernel up to 4.0.3? If so, does anyone have the download for the i717?
Thanks
Connect to Odin and try to flash clockwork recovery from stickied rooting thread.. If that succeeds then put your external SD into another device and download a custom ics kernel from dev section. Put the sd card back into the phone. Boot into recovery and flash the kernel zip. Your phone should now be able to start.
Right now you have a GB kernel on an ICS ROM. That's why it boot loops.

Follow this to get back to stock gingerbread and reroot. After that be sure and update cwm or flash twrp and choose any of our phones fine ROMs or the official ICS to flash in your new recovery . Ur choice after u r up and going.
And with using Odin u should see a yellow box with numbers on the left of ur PC screen. If not u need to update the drivers for the note on ur PC.

Unable to install any softwre outside of Odin. Please Help.

I am unable to flash any roms through cwm, and can only do it through odin. Flashing through cwm results in the phone not loading past the boot logo.
I formatted sd card in cwm, thinking it would only restore to factory settings, not knowing it would completely wipe everything.
From then i was unable to even see the boot logo or recovery mode, but luckily download mode still worked.
So i flashed the stock rom through odin, but it still plays up. Now the battery doesn't last more than 1 day, and constantly freezes.
Now whenever i install anything in cwm, as soon as i reboot, it goes to the bootscreen and freezes. I have tried at least 5 different roms and the same story each time, So each time i have to reflash stock rom with odin.
So any ideas to why this is? any help is appreciated. I have tried ultimate kernel wipe cleaner , or whatever it is called as well.

I just reflashed stock ICS in odin, and ticked the 're-partition' box. the repartition file is called " u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit ". Now it works good as new and I'm currently running PACman rom on 4.3. gg guys.
Just to check, but you have factory reset after flashing the new ROM from CWM right?
Try these steps :
1. Flash ROMNuke script by hawkerpaul. (it's a ROM nuke, not just a kernel nuke)
2. Flash ROM in CWM.
3. Boot.
I know it sounds simple, but that's got me out of a few odd bootloop /failed flash situations. Give it a go.
Then, if that doesn't work, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash & try again.
One more thing, what kernel are you trying to flash the ROM from in CWM? Try a different one, say siyah. I've sometimes seen where a particular kernel won't flash but another will for no apparent reason.

it was stock ics cwm i think?, also another thing when I install a new rom, when it shows the progress bar, it goes up to 3 quarters then it skips the rest and says update completed (I just tried Romnuke and same story). I have also tried siyah kernel and it just freezes at the siyah kernel instead. Im currently stuck on stock ICS 4.0.2
Not sure what you mean by 'stock ICS CWM'?
And just to make sure, you definitely have an i9100 right? Not a variant, i9100g etc? Just asking as 4.0.2 was never released for i9100, only 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 (stay away from that one)
So now, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash, and try again after the ROMNuke script. Does the script run successfully? Or does it have errors /messages which indicate it didn't run successfully?

All good. And also good that you have an i9100.
Ok, so have you tried the things I said?
1. Try flashing from a different kernel (your choice, try one other than Siyah)
2. Re-download the ROM & reflash with Nuke script then ROM.

5 months later I found the answer when messing with odin. What you do is tick the 're-partition' box, and then in the 'pit' sections you need the partition file i guess, for the i9100 its called u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit . hope this helps anyone else who may have this problem

help! my s2 was stcuk in samsung logo

ya, my problem just like the title
my phone was stuck at samsung start logo
and i try to open recovery mode and it does not work it.
my phone already boot.
try to help me pls
No recovery mode means you only have one option - flash a stock rom in download mode (power/home/volume down) with Odin. Go to Samfirmware & get a stock rom for your carrier (not 4.0.4). How to flash ? Search. Been covered here thousands of times before (There's a thread stickied near the top of Q&A which should have the info you need).
I just had this kind of problem today flashing a new ROM. Had no choice but to flash a different kernel through ODIN. Just get a suitable kernel for your firmware in .tar.md5 format and flash it with ODIN, worked for me at least.

[Q] Samsung S2 Boot problems after CWM recovery 5.5.0.4

Hi Guys,
I have a samsung s2 with some version 4.1.2(I don't remember).
I wanted to upgrade it to JB 4.2.1
I went to some links which mentioned that I should install CWM recovery before going for flashing of ROM.
However what mistake i did is I tried to load GT-I9100_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar on the phone using ODIN (which I think is an ICS version).
With this...problem is I am able to go to download mode, also I can go to CWM recovery mode with errors like unable to mount the sd card.
But the phone does not start.
It boots to the start-up screen and shows a yellow warning triangle below and shuts down.
I am not able to use the phone at all.
Need some help. Is there a way to go to stock firmware or to remove this CWM recovery to take it to whatever android stock firmware version it was.
Please help.
Download stock rom from Samfirmware, flash with Odin (How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A has all the info you need). Clean slate.
Then flash custom kernel to root your phone & give you CWM. Flash custom rom/kernel of your choice.
