E3d roaming everywhere....HELP - HTC EVO 3D

I had read a post on using qpst to change the default volume limit for my headset and tried this method.....
Well as it turns out, after applying this method, I wrote the values to the phone, phone restarted, and can not read/write from phone using qpst after writing. In fact it did not change anything. Also I can only roam now. Even with using different prl's and I switched my phone to "sprintonly"option in roaming options in the settings. Nothing. I have my msl, and epst works. But no qpst...... Has anyone else had this problem, if so any solution?
Stock rooted deodexed ROM.
Rooted using the fraking awesome revolutionary method.
1.40 bootloader
Radio 1.06

I've got a fix for you!
I think I know what is happening.
1. Open settings.
2. Tap Wireless & Networks
3. Scroll to Mobile networks
4. Tap Roaming.
5. A window will pop up. Select "Sprint only".
Hope this helps!
-cburk

Not sure what but it seems like you may have screwed something up with qpst. I'd recommend making a nandroid. Then run an ruu that won't update your hboot. Then see if you still have your current issues.

Still nothing...

Also tried the 1.13 RUU. Again No dice.
I Wonder if I could have a bad ESN...If I did though, would I not be able to have service anywhere?

Network settings keep forcing GSM/UMTS

So, while tweaking settings using *#*#4636#*#*, I've apparently disabled the MoPho's recognition of the Sprint network entirely, and now the phone continues to reset itself to GSM/UMTS only in Network settings, even after reboot, and even after i change the settings manually to "any CDMA" or "Sprint" after the fact.
4G however, works.
(shrugs)
This is a first for me, and a headscratcher. Definitely don't want to go the hard reset route. Any suggestions of what I should be looking for?
**Update** - Have somehow managed to get it to stop forcing itself to GSM/UMTS, but will now only set itself on Automatic, and will not allow me to set "Any CDMA" or "Sprint only". Clicking these options won't stick, and just reverts to Automatic.
Preferred network type in Phone Info is "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL). I've turned the radio off/on several times, and it still shows as searching for service.
Sigh..
**Update #2** - Factory data reset didn't do the trick; phone still can't locate network. I'm sure this has got to be an easy fix. Anybody?
**Update #3** - Sprint couldn't figure it out either, chalked it up to a bug, and swapped out the phone for a 3D since they didn't have any MoPho's in stock. Would still be curious to know if anyone else ever encountered this issue..

Just out of curiosity, coyld you try putting in a sim chip and see if your phone recognizes it? Also, what is your baseband?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
That is indeed a bug of the stock firmware. Only way to fix it is to sbf back to stock. Hopefully you are not on the latest OTA (235) as I believe you can not sbf that version (downgrade).
Did the same thing myself by tooling around in the debug menus.

I tried to put gsm sim ,but no network (red stop circle in signal bar)
baseband version ( N_01.28.07R) ,no problem in other photn device with same rom&baseband
this problem appeared when using *#*#4636#*#*,and select gsm mode with radio usa band
now device keep settings forcing GSM/UMTS,i can not change the settings manually to CDMA (have other phone no.in CDMA network

Encountered the same issue when I selected USA band. Did several things and nothing good happened. Finally flashed 235_radio_only.sbf from peetr_ and it worked. GSM 3G is working and 4G seems ok but unable to test it as I am not in US.

wifi cutting out? found a fix!

I have found one thing to work to fix wifi cutting in and out. You will need to obtain your MSL in order to do this though.
Procedure:
1. Go to dialer
2. Enter ##786# (##rtn#)
3. hit reset
4. let the phone do its thing, works for rooted (at least on mean rom) and non-rooted
5. once the phone boots back up, skip through the initial setup steps DO NOT LET THE PHONE ACTIVATE OTA
6. go to settings and enable wifi and disable mobile network
7. connect phone to wifi
8. go to settings and activated device.
9. device will reset
10. done!
If you are in a non-LTE market, make sure the network settings are set for CDMA only and not CDMA/LTE

This will reset the phone to factory so if you don't want to lose you data nadroid backup first. This clears amoung a few settings the PRI and PRL, factory resets and looks for firmware updates. Be cautious.

The phone cannot program over wifi. It has to come over sprints network through the OMA-DM tool. All this is doing is resorting the back to factory defaults.

WiFi cutting out might actually be just accidental pressing on the wifi antenna contacts. The fix for this is usually opening up the phone, unscrewing the plastic shroud beneath the removable plastic cover, and then gently using a small flathead screwdriver to bring it back up, and then putting some sort of cardboard or something similar to keep it propped up.
THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! The antenna connectors are very weak and easily snapped. Don't do this more than once, as you will probably break the contacts through stress.

I know for a fact this is not my issue. The original post fixed my issue and I know it has fixed various other phones customers have brought to me.. not all but most of them. I have had a case on my phone since day one and do not take the back off, except to initially put my sd card in.

Help: No data or voice connection

I do not have any data or voice connection. My phone is just a digital phone book at the moment. Early Monday morning around 2am the phone was working fine I had voice and data. Around 4am I look at my phone and there is an X above the signal bars.
So far I have tried dialer codes- the phone seems it does not recognize them, nothing happens (the view and edit modes do not come up)
soft reset, hard reset
Restoring a back up-no luck
Run the newest 4.3 RUU-no luck had data for a few seconds then gone again
Tired running ViperRUU-still no luck
I also tried to call Sprint but as usual they were no help
My phone is Locked but S-off

Try ##72786#, then select reset from the menu once it pops up. If that doesn't work, do ##3282# and hit reset. You'll need your MSL code to do this. You can call Sprint and get it or use the free MSL reader app from the Play store. You have to be on a Sense ROM to use dialer codes.
Edit: Saw where you tried the dialer codes already. You'll need a ROM with EPST support to use them. Hit up my Q&A thread for the Sense 5.5 ROM-one of the FAQ's in the second post explains how to do this.

I thought Viper 4.0 support EPST? I will try to restore my Sense 5.5 back up and try again. But when I try to use the dialer codes they don't work. I can enter the code but it seems like the dialer freezes and it doesn't take the code. I have to hit the home button to get out of the frozen dialer.

1. Turn on the airplane
2. Go into settings and into the auto setup thingy. I forget what exactly it's called in that ROM, but it's almost always right above the software updates section. After it tries for a few seconds, hit the home button.
3. Now go to apps and under "all", find "phone". Clear it's cache/data
4. Right afterwards, and with airplane still on, reboot your phone.
This probably won't fix your problem, but should reset the godonlyknowswhat so that ##SCRTN# & ##DATA# are again recognized by your phone (assuming you're on a sense-based ROM).
I had this exact same problem and that fixed it (well the dialer problems anyway). Not 100% sure why either.

Thanks, That got the dialer codes working, not all the time but few times so I can enter the codes. Now It will not do the hands free connection. 1012 is the error code coming up. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and bring it into a sprint repair store, and hopefully its something easy to fix
Well the damn Sprint repair store was closed. But I was able to finally fix my phone. I used the ##786# dialer code and did a factory reset. Thank you everyone for the help.

WIFI Calling

So I did a restore using the LG tool and I am missing the wifi calling app. I can't seem to get it at all from any source, I've read some discussions about it but haven't gotten anywhere with it.
Anyone have some advice ? Ive tried all the ## diag numbers and all of that to try to get the sprint software to load but it doesn't load the WIFI calling app or any other sprint apps.
Can someone maybe provide me with the APK ?
Hopefully this helps!

I am not sure how to make this stuff active..I've tried every procedure possible on this to get it enabled. ##RTN# and nothing no Sprint boot or shutdown or Sprint apps including the wifi calling.
I'm not sure if it's a blessing or now I can't use any of those features anymore.

I've used the tool 5 times to get back to stock (things I've tried that don't work, never with the build prop except the multi window) and not once has all the apps installed. I.e. wifi calling. You must know your msl. Once you know that you're golden. Restore back to stock. Don't bother with downloading or really setting up anything. Go to phone, dial ##rtn#. Option 2 i believe, put in your msl and bingo. It will restart have you sign in again and all that jazz and whalla. Wifi calling and all the other Sprint bs is back. Have any questions please ask.

Problem Solved

I have just encountered a problem after performing the dial in this thread from XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/us998-hidden-menu-lg-v30-v30-t3719219/page1
Just curious to find out all the band numbers my phone supports. But, After selecting one band it could not automatically switch to another.
And it has made the situation worse when i tried to do a factory reset from the SVC menu. Now i do not have the 4G network at all. No access to internet. Factory reset from the phone settings also failed to fix the problem.
Is there anything i can do do make my phone work normally again? Do i need to flash the KDZ file to restore to my default network settings? But i seem to be unavailable Now.
What can i do, guys, please help.
I did the steps in that thread this morning and the same thing happened to me. I was able to factory reset and the issue was fixed upon first boot.
You might try resetting again to see if it'll fix it.

I have tried several times and it did not work. thanks anyway.
contacted LG service, and they are talking nonsene:
quote:
"1 - Check your current settings. This is important to retain 3G data when moving out of 4G range. You can find this under Settings > Tethering & Networks > Mobile Network > Network Mode
2 - a menu will open automatically. Click on Phone Info and scroll down to where it says Pick Prefered Network Type.
3 - Press the drop down box and select the option that adds LTE along with your old options. (pick LTE/GSM/WCDMA to turn on 4G)
4 - your network will reconnect and you should now see a 4G icon appear in the top bar.
With android 5.0 you will find that 4G now appears correctly in the "preferred network mode" under Settings > Tethering & Networks > Mobile Network > Network Mode.
If by any chance that this did not work, then try this:
First go to the app *easy battery saver* then instead of super mode, Go back to *normal mode *. It will kick you back to your normal settings. If by any chance it doesn't work try this:
This method however is to fix and reset 4g in general, so it should work;
First of all download an app called "any cut" free from market. Then after it downloads and installs, go home screen and create a shortcut >then select > activities > and then select the "any cut" app. After that it'll send you to the app and from there you have to press on "activities" option and Scroll down until you see "LTE configuration" (its mostly the first one that starts with LTE). Then as you select that it will have created a shortcut action on the home screen. You then go to home screen and look for the shortcut you have created, it'll be called *lte configuration*. Open it and then press on setting initialization. Now, it will reset your lte settings and the phone will reboot. After that you should be able to be running 4g nice and clean.
If in case these didn't fix the issue, please contact your carrier. Typically frequencies and bands problems are network related. "

Your last option would be a restore through lg bridge. Its just going to reset everything back to normal. I accidentally did the same thing on my h932 and had to reset it. In my case LG bridge flashed the same software version but since the us998 is getting the 10c update it will update you to that version.
