I have just encountered a problem after performing the dial in this thread from XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/us998-hidden-menu-lg-v30-v30-t3719219/page1
Just curious to find out all the band numbers my phone supports. But, After selecting one band it could not automatically switch to another.
And it has made the situation worse when i tried to do a factory reset from the SVC menu. Now i do not have the 4G network at all. No access to internet. Factory reset from the phone settings also failed to fix the problem.
Is there anything i can do do make my phone work normally again? Do i need to flash the KDZ file to restore to my default network settings? But i seem to be unavailable Now.
What can i do, guys, please help.
I did the steps in that thread this morning and the same thing happened to me. I was able to factory reset and the issue was fixed upon first boot.
You might try resetting again to see if it'll fix it.

I have tried several times and it did not work. thanks anyway.
contacted LG service, and they are talking nonsene:
quote:
"1 - Check your current settings. This is important to retain 3G data when moving out of 4G range. You can find this under Settings > Tethering & Networks > Mobile Network > Network Mode
2 - a menu will open automatically. Click on Phone Info and scroll down to where it says Pick Prefered Network Type.
3 - Press the drop down box and select the option that adds LTE along with your old options. (pick LTE/GSM/WCDMA to turn on 4G)
4 - your network will reconnect and you should now see a 4G icon appear in the top bar.
With android 5.0 you will find that 4G now appears correctly in the "preferred network mode" under Settings > Tethering & Networks > Mobile Network > Network Mode.
If by any chance that this did not work, then try this:
First go to the app *easy battery saver* then instead of super mode, Go back to *normal mode *. It will kick you back to your normal settings. If by any chance it doesn't work try this:
This method however is to fix and reset 4g in general, so it should work;
First of all download an app called "any cut" free from market. Then after it downloads and installs, go home screen and create a shortcut >then select > activities > and then select the "any cut" app. After that it'll send you to the app and from there you have to press on "activities" option and Scroll down until you see "LTE configuration" (its mostly the first one that starts with LTE). Then as you select that it will have created a shortcut action on the home screen. You then go to home screen and look for the shortcut you have created, it'll be called *lte configuration*. Open it and then press on setting initialization. Now, it will reset your lte settings and the phone will reboot. After that you should be able to be running 4g nice and clean.
If in case these didn't fix the issue, please contact your carrier. Typically frequencies and bands problems are network related. "

Your last option would be a restore through lg bridge. Its just going to reset everything back to normal. I accidentally did the same thing on my h932 and had to reset it. In my case LG bridge flashed the same software version but since the us998 is getting the 10c update it will update you to that version.

For me I had to add and select the T Mobile LTE APN via these instructions: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36660
Then it worked

So, with the new 1314.1 update (AT&T), field test mode is now gone. Again.
##3282 Does not work anymore and neither does ##3282#
Has anyone figured out what the new code is this time? Assuming it hasn't been completely removed...
I ask because I like to switch my connection speed from LTE to 4G when I'm not using the internet. Now that I updated, I'm stuck on 4G unless I do a factory reset, which I really don't wanna do...
A factory reset will not correct what the update did. The update was a full new OS and as such all settings are now considered default. All a factory reset will do is setup the device exactly as it is now.

That's the thing though. The update did not set it to 4G. I did. Prior to the update I had it set to 4G. Since the update removed the old field test code, I have no way of switching it back to LTE. Since 1314 is an ATT update, the default would be LTE, so resetting it would fix the problem. Unfortunately it looks like my only option so far...

I was using the 'Field Test' to set our phones to 'E' while at home due to dropped calls when the phone would try switching networks. Now I have the same problem with both of our phones...they are stuck in 'E' with no way to get them back to 'Auto' or any other setting. I have contacted Nokia and At&t and neither of them were of any help.

I think hard reset will restore back original settings.
I was prompted to update my S2 to 4.1.2 yesterday, and I did.
All seemed to be working fine until today, out an about, when there was no 3G connection at all. My limit is well below my cap etc... I just cannot get a 3G connection at all. I checked that data is on, all the menu's seem correct (i.e. Mobile Data on, Network mode auto).
I have gone in to the Network operators menu and tried both Auto and EE, but neither give me a 3G connection.
My contract is with Orange, but have had the EE network on my phone for a while now (changed automatically a while back). I'm not sure if that could be an issue.
Also, shortly after the update, a menu popped up just as I was touching something else. I accidentally just clicked an option and it went away. I can't be sure, but I believe that I selected the other option from "Orange", it might have just been some combination of letters which I didn't recognise, but I think the option that I didn't click was "Orange". Is this the mistake? How do I get to that menu?
Thanks.

Maybe the update changed the modem.Try going back to ICS (not 4.0.4!) 4.0.3.If this works, then I recommend to go with ICS.If it still does't work, then try flashing different modems.

I haven't rooted my phone. It just updated normally via a prompt.
Problem Solved
I rang Orange customer support, and my issue was quickly solved. I'll share the solution, incase anybody else has the issue.
Basically, the issue was that menu which I accidentally clicked after the update. I clicked "LIFE" rather than "Orange UK". So, you just need to go to your mobile network menu, find "Access Point Names" and then hit the menu button and reset them, and choose Orange.
I can't seem to find a fix to my problem. After my first flash on this phone (cm 10.1), I lost all mobile data. All i get is a blank triangle icon or sometimes a roaming icon. Wifi works fine but i can't go about my day if i don't have my data! I tried reflashing a few times and a few different roms/builds, and it still never connect. I've tried rebooting without the sim, and putting it back in etc, no luck
Does anyone have a fix or suggestions on how i can fix this?? i've been at it for a few hours already and i'm starting to stress out.

When mine is doing that I also change system select from Home only to Automatic. I let it sit for 5 minutes or so, then reboot. If it switches back I reselect, reboot. Try again. But most of the time once or twice is all it takes. It's a pain but normally will stick.
Also have you tried going into recovery and wiping the cache's? I think I've had to do that a couple of times. Honestly don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I figure it can't hurt.
Edit: Also you can try switching from NV to RUIM/SIM back and forth a couple times. As I said before just guessing but these are just a couple things I tried, and seemed to help.
Sometimes I'll flash a ROM no switching to NV on me, and other times it will, even with the same ROM. I think my phone has a mind of it's own.
There was a service code you can type in to change your network settings.
It was something like *#*#344XX#*#*
I cannot remeber exactly what it was but I need it also.

Go mine to get 3g working by flashing cm10.1.
Then going into settings mobile network.
Then setting network mode to LTE / CDMA.
Then setting CDMA sub to RUIM/SIM.
But after reboot it resets back to roming.
Also If i go to about I have no phone number.

Followed this guide and im now back working 100%.
I don't know if there is another thread out there that has this same info in it, if so i totally apologise. This is for people on android 5.0+ but also worked on previous android versions as well. Also this was just the way i choose to do it so that my LTE antenna would be totally off all the time.
1) Go into service mode *#0011*# hit menu:back next menu:key imput, type in "Q0"
2) #1UMTS
3) #1DEBUG SCREEN
4) #6PHONE CONTROL
5) #1DRX CONTROL
Click on LTE Rx0 And Rx1 off. Your phone will reboot by itself. When it turns back on it will only stay on 3g from now on unless you go back through those steps and turn it back on.
Not 100% sure if that is the most beneficial way to do it but when i didn't want 4g on at all to conserve data and battery life that was how i did it but i actually did it on accident the first time but after i figured out what i did i then used that method all the time especially now since android doesn't give the option to switch through mobile networks.
I got the hidden menu you described using *#0011#, but I can't get anything else to work. When I press the menu key, I see the menu and the option BACK, but nothing happens when I press it. I don't see the "next menu" step. Any advice? Could you maybe tell me how to do this like I'm 3 years old? I'm so annoyed cod the only way I can text on this verizon s4 is via mms since I switched to tmobile. I managed to get root but still haven't found a way to subvert the verizon smsc setting.
Thanks in advance!

I have an LG V30 with Sprint. Last week I noticed my phone wouldn't connect to LTE/4G network even in places where I know there is good service and other Sprint phones around me are fine. So right now it only connects to 3G and even then is mostly keeps going into roaming and won't go back to 3G until I toggle mobile connection on/off. I've tried just about everything I can do. Turned the phone on/off. Checked for updates. Toggled mobile network connection settings. Network settings reset. I even factory reset it and the problem persists. What very little I could find mention of this problem online mentions messing with the APN settings, but I'm not able to do that. For what it's worth the phone still connects to wifi just fine.
Any advice or help would be appreciated because I'm really lost here and it's becoming a real problem for my phone to barely connect to anything unless I'm on wifi.

If you're on stock, reset your SCRTN
Open dialer and type in the following code
##72786#
It will ask you if you're sure you want to reset, click on yes
The phone will restart and it will go through the activating process and you SHOULD have LTE now.

SCRTN is a wonderful thing, solved problems for me many times when I was on various Sprint MVNOs.
But it only works with CDMA networks and phones (Sprint & Verizon).
For stubborn network problems on other non-CDMA models and networks I found the engineering/service menu factory reset to be a life saver. In particular did it solve a lack of LTE connection after a "partial" T-Mobile SIM unlock. To be clear, it loses the SIM unlock, which allowed me to unlock anew (and fully this time). Just be aware of that.
1) Backup everything, as the phone will be wiped. If yours is a network unlocked carrier model, make sure you have an unlock code (or unlock approval if T-Mobile).
2) Remove your Google account to disable Android Device Reset Protection.
3) Dial *#546368#*932# (replace 932 with your model number). This should open the service menu. From there SVC Menu - Factory Reset (R&D Only).
This takes quite a bit longer than normal Factory Reset. Your phone is now TRULY back to factory state.
While I haven't experienced any problems after doing this, I cannot guarantee that it is risk free or that there are no side effects that I just haven't detected.
So I would ONLY do this as a last resort.
