Rezound with double Data or wait? - HTC Rezound

Right now I have an opportunity to get Line for 15 dollars a month and 50% off data through work. This means I can get a 10gb data plan for $25 a month totaling 40 a month.
Of all the phones on Verizon right now, the HTC rezound and the galaxy nexus are the two phones I'm considering but mainly leaning towards the resound due to its ridiculously crisp screen and great camera and because I'm fed up with Samsung GPS issues. The phone would be $100 for me.
Now should I get it? Or should I wait for the next verizon phone to come out? The only phone coming to Verizon that I could think of is the new incredible. If I wait I'll lose the chance at double the data
Are you guys happy with the resound? What are your complaints ? Likes?

depends on the person. Regular battery on GB I get about 15 hours or so, on the extended battery I been getting 30+

ice I get like 12 hours with 4g on and heavy texting and heavy xda forum app use and I haven't calibrated my battery since 2 rooms ago

I keep mobile data on, though its usually on 3G and looking for 4G (which uses more power), WiFi at home, GPS when needed, sync always on, etc.
With those settings, I get over a day each charge. That includes checking emails and XDA app a few times an hour. If you browse the internet on mobile data you'll see your battery drain pretty quickly, so use WiFi whenever possible.
Honestly, HTC built a beast of a phone here. Sure, you can get better battery on the RAZR MAXX, or pure Android on the Nexus, but we have the best overall specs in terms of processor, camera, screen (720p is a rarity on phones). Definitely worth your money.

The only other option I can think of other than getting it now is waiting for the incredible 4g to drop and getting the rezound then because the price will drop. But then again you probably won't get the double data so I'd definitely get the rezound now.

Not to be a doubter or anything...but 50% off data? Are you certain about this?

I'm not sure Inc4G will be better than the Rez. Sure, it gets the latest iteration of Snapdragon, but a 20% loss in CPU frequency can negate that.
Incredible 4G:
1.2GHz S4 MSM8960 CPU
qHD display (960x540)
8GB internal storage
4" screen
Adreno 225 GPU
Rezound:
1.5GHz S3 MSM8660 CPU
720p display (1280x720)
16GB internal storage
4.3" screen
Adreno 220 GPU
EDIT -- nevermind...i realized afterward you're saying to get the rezound when inc4g drops.

Uhhh.. the Inc 4g will be much better than the rezound, the drop in clock frequency is negligable, the Inc 4g will run faster then our processor and have much better battery life due to the new architecture of the CPU and the smaller 28nm manufacturing process. Clock frequencys don't mean much when your trying to compare processors from different architectures. Also not having an HD screen and a newer GPU will make it run a lot better with anything graphically intense.

I love my Rezound, but as soon as it's out I'll be getting a Inc4G. If you can wait for the Inc4G to be released while still getting that data deal then that's what I'd do. But, 10 gigs of data at 50% off is a sweet deal. If that deal expires soon, why not get the Rezound, and upgrade later?

where are you guys hearing about the double data promo ending? they had this promo back in november when the phone came out, dropped it for like a month, and then brought it back early feb and it's been going on ever since lol..i haven't heard anything of them dropping it any time soon

This is true...if you never have had a phone with an HD screen it may not be a bad buy. I will doubt you will be able to beat the price of the Inc 4G if you can get the Rezound for $100. It's also an added bonus getting some decent headphones too.
Also consider development. I wouldn't expect too many Devs jumping for the Inc 4g to be honest. It may be better to get the Rezound because once resource is released for the for Inc 4g our devs will tear that Sense 4 apart and make our roms soooo much better.

I would jump on the incredible in a heartbeat if it had a bigger screen. I currently have a GS2 on sprint with 4.5" and i feel like 4.0" would be too small. I do get yearly upgrades on that plan though.

to the guy about recalibrating the battery... it doesn't do anything, a google engineer said so, the system wipes the battery stats file at every full charge so if you charge to the green light it's the same as manually clearing the battery stat.bin thingy ...
regarding battery life to the OP the mugen slim extended battery fits in the regular battery door so more life and no more bulk.

I've had my rezound for over a month now. I'm coming from a sensation 4g and then an EVO. This is the best phone by far. The screen is amazing the cam takes awesome pics. I have no lag at all and get a days use on a fully charged battery. Once CM gets the RIL fixed we will have cm9. Overall great phone I think a lot better than the gnex.

HTC EVO 3D vs. Samsung Galaxy S 2 (Video)

What do you think about this review? GSII won in all of the tests

Personal preference is what it comes down to for every phone and person in the world. There is no such thing as the best phone, just the best phone for each person.
That said, who cares about this review? I like my EVO3D, period. Might another phone be slightly better in some areas, sure. Does it matter, no.

I'll admit that the processor in the sgs2 is better in benchmarks but man he sounded really bias.
What I love about all these Galaxy S II comparisons is the fact that the phone IS NOT YET AVAILABLE IN THE US!!! Carrier variants are known to have differences (HW & SW wise, especially in the US) so the small edge the test unit may have on Evo 3D can easily disappear once the REAL choice is available... just my $0.02

Is this due to synchronous vs asynchronous dual cores?
Does the "comparison" mention that the Samsungs build quality is the lowest of it's kind?
That the screens have these "weak spots" where it you press it too much they'll go black/dimmer?
They the charger port goes bad VERY quick and need to be replaced probably within the first 6 months.
That the speaker phone ALWAYS sounds like there's plastic film stuck in it?
I've had many Samsung phones, the only one I liked was the VERY first one I ever had back in 2002.
I'm no HTC nuthugger(because fk HTC for not releasing the unlocked bootloader) but HTC builds better phones. Simple.
Will have to revisit the test once the phone is actually available on the Sprint network, with the Sprint bloatware loaded on the Sammy. The GS2 is obviously a good phone, but this test isn't apples to apples.
Sammy sure knows how to make a gorgeous screen though
that superamoled + blows the superlcd on the evo3d away
the person who mentioned carriers will nerf **** too is correct
T-Mobile's Sensation has 7 something mb of ram, the evo's same hardware/phone almost but has 1 gb
Carriers lower the amount of ram to save money all the time, among other things, could result in a worse phone
I don't understand why Samsung insists on not making a good qHD screen tho with it....
Yes, the difference in benchmark scores is due to the differences between how the processors run. (synchronous vs. asynchronous)
on every day use, you cant see a difference between a really good single core vs dual core. Yes when you bench it, you see a difference. I mean we use our phones to use them everyday and bench them every day.
I really doubt you would see the difference between sgs2 and evo3d processor on everyday use.
This is like having a dual chip graphics card and running it on a 17inch monitor and not even use all the power. That is what android is right now, it is just not that demanding. I still highly doubt on every day use you will be able to see a difference between snapdragon dual core or samsung's new processor even with ICS.
I always though the benchmarks where due to the way the cores are set up/different. But I clocked my evo 3d to 1.8Ghz and ran quadrant on the performance governor. The highest I got was 2985. Now if I am correct, both cores should be maxed out due to the governor set by setcpu. If this is the case, the gs2 still beats the evo3d easily, even with the evo3d clocked to 1.8ghz.
I don't feel like this can be correct, but maybe it is? Maybe the exynos are that much better?
Or could it really be that sense 3.0 is a hog? I mean, with the hero, once it is on asop, you see a near 100% increase in scores.

Doubtful since benchmarks that utilize one or both cores still favor the sgs2

depends on the person. I personally think that super amoled screens are over saturated, I looked at the droid charge at verizon store and I really didn't like how the colors were on the icons. Yes its a beautiful screen but I myself prefer slcd better, just because it seems like the colors are more naturals on it.

I had the SGS2 for 3 weeks and the benchmarks do NOT reflect real world performance. The SGS2 did download web pages faster...by like maybe 3-4 seconds.
The build btw, feels way better than the current ones out...stronger plastic, matted back.
Even the gorilla glass website says our device does not have Gorilla Glass on it.
Love the review.

This phone has a dual core 1.2 ghz, just came from the Infuse on AT&T with a 1.2 ghz single core. it's fine most of the time, but has annoying lags when it's doing things (installing apps comes to mind, among some others)
The evo's really yet to ever stutter or lag like the Infuse did.

It really is preference. I am looking for camera quality and SGS2 is better there so I might be moving there. The speaker quality is really good on S2 also.
But some like the heavier/build quality of HTC better. Many don't like the super amoled Samsung screens. If you love Sense its Htc. (I use launcherPro). The dev community will be stronger undoubtedly for Evo...(although SG2 was rooted immediately.)
But...it is megalight, powerful and yep, sexy.
All that said...might not see it released for a while...some release issues were reported yesterday. Google around.

3G Speeds

Y'all probably thought this was another one of those "OMG my speeds are terrible! the photon 4g's speeds aren't terrible so why are my speeds garbage?!?!?!?!" If that's what you expected...well...I'm sorry that's what our General section has become. Anyways, let me go to my point:
So I was looking into my 3G speeds..they've been terrible lately (of course)..so I'm just dicking around with my phone trying to get it right...
I found out that the 3G speeds on the dual core kernels is a lot better than stock. So that got me wondering "maybe the 3G relies more on the second processor and the reason why the dual core kernels have better speeds is because the second processor is always active." I've been going back and forth on dual core and stock and it looked like it was holding up but I started thinking "that can't be right" so...I went with the stock kernel and just put it on performance and went back to testing...and sure enough, the 3G speeds are better. Not insanely better but before putting it on performance my ping was around 1200-1800ms...after, its around 700-900ms.
Here's why I think our speeds suck...it's because HTC is actually making decent kernels. Our phones sleep like babies and with the ondemand governor...the up threshold is at 90 by default...so that prevents the phone jumping up to 1.2GHz all of the time. But I'm thinking that's actually hurting us because our phones actually have to do some real work before it goes from 400MHz to 1.2GHz. So we could be in the browser with the ondemand governor and the up threshold at 90 and trying to open a page...our processor might jump to 800MHz but since that's not a lot of power...our 3G speeds will suffer. Now if it were just at 1.2GHz to begin with, it'd be a lot better.
So if what I'm thinking is right...we probably aren't even benefiting from having our CPU's hang around lower frequencies because if my ping is 1800ms...my 3G has to be on longer just to load up a page when compared to a phone with a ping of 900ms...So I'm starting to think that we are actually hurting ourselves by trying our hardest to save as much battery as possible.
Ill flash a dual core kernel now and post before and after results.
Thanks for the info. My 3g speeds are making me mental (I didn't update prl either)

Thank you sir. My speeds are making me crazy as well...and I just decided to post this because I know it'll get people testing on it too that way we can all come to a conclusion on SOMETHING. We've all been saying our 3G speeds suck for a while and now it's time to pinpoint the problem.
And I think I owe the thread this much:
I live in Dallas and at my house I was working with 3-4 bars when using the speedtest app.
First I just used the ondemand governor at 1.2GHz and up threshold of 90 and got ~1200ms the first and second time and then ~1800ms the third time.
I went to the dual core kernel that I think smokey made...and I used his VOC one (because you can mess with setCPU with that one) and my ping was around 400-600ms.
I went back to my stock kernel and lowered the up threshold to 40 and I was still getting around 1000ms-1500ms...averaging basically 1200ms.
I put it on performance and at first got ~700ms then ~900ms then 400-600ms and I got a best of ~300ms.
Also:
"In most constant-voltage cases it is more efficient to run briefly at peak speed and stay in a deep idle state for longer (called "race to idle"), than it is to run at a reduced clock rate for a long time and only stay briefly in a light idle state"
I read taht from wikipedia. That's why I'm against setCPU profiles with the screen off. It is in fact better to use those profiles with 2.3.x than 2.2 because I remember 2.2 wasn't really killing any apps so if you were awake with the screen off..you pretty much stay awake. But it's also important to note that it does take longer for the processor to go into an idle mode if you are using any governor other than performance because of the fact that you have to scale up...and depending on how the dev decided to "conserve" battery, it might take a really long time.
But at the same time..you're using unnecessary power when at 1.2GHz to handle something real small...but since the whole CPU isn't being used to handle that (according to System Panel), and at an increased frequency like 1.2GHz...you'd be able to knock the task out quicker...idk, I'm just thinking.
Just wanted to show you my before now because it may be a few minutes to post my after.
Notice that teensy weeny 1 bar next to my 3g. That's pretty normal when I'm home (thank god for wifi). Ill be back!

This is a placebo. You can update your prl to 00001 and see a real speed increase. The real problem is with sprints backhaul network. With the same kernel I go from 100 kbps on sprint to 1000 kbps on Verizon. Fact.

You see, the only real problem is that if you roam too much on one of those PRLs (and you're always roaming, technically) Sprint will tell you that you're roaming too much and they'll drop you if it continues. If it does, then they'll send you a letter informing you that your service will be terminated and they give you X amount of days to find a new service before they officially discontinue your service. Those PRLs are great because I get excellent service, but if you plan on using 3G like crazy (even in WiFi spots) expect that letter. I never noticed any difference in my speeds and only used the PRL for a day or two, but if you like it go for it. It should also be noted that some guys have been using the PRL hack for around a year without anything to show for on Sprint's side, in terms of angry letters and whatnot, so you may be fine. It's all preference.
Hmmmmm. I've been with sprint for 10 years. I'm gonna have to think about that one. If I could get 4g from it (I know I can't), it would be a no brainer. But to chance losing sprint may not be worth a few more kbps.
Edit. You know what really grinds my gears? (Everyone knows where that's from). Is my niece is visiting and she has a thunderbolt. I just ran speed tests on her 4g and my 3d over wifi and she wooped me by almost 4 mbps. Just ain't fair.

It's so frustrating, Sprint's overloaded network needs a biiiggg tuneup. And that announcement they're supposed to make coming up soon about their network (from an article I read on Engadget a week or so ago) hopefully will let us know about LTE integration or somehow fixing our crawling data speeds... but hey, you could give the 00001 PRL a run and if they tell you that you're roaming too much then drop the PRL, and go back to normal ones. I personally don't think it's worth it but also I spend most of the day in school (with WiFi) or at home (with WiFi) so it doesn't affect me too much. But not even getting 4G at home or school sucks a lot.
so if your saying on demand gov is hurting our 3g, then should setting it on performance get higher speed? considering thata the cpu running at max speed? JW.
I dont get why everyone trusts speed.net or whatever. I ran a test with my evo3d and my samsung transform side by side. the transform always showed higher speeds but always took longer load up or down. my evo would be done way before the transform and would never read as high of speeds. Also tested my nexus and photon and they all avg around the same for me.

Check this out...I think I really was on to something y'all.
I'm running Empire's AOSP rom (he has sound working btw so if you didn't know that, now you know. Go download and support!) and I did a speed test...my ping averages less than 100ms! The most I've seen was ~120ms. Remember what I was saying when I was on Sense? I was getting a best of 500-600ms on a dual core kernel and about 1200-1800ms on stock.
Sense seems to not only be messing up the performance...but its probably tanking our 3G speeds as well. I mean this is ridiculous....from ~1200ms to ~100ms. C'mon HTC Sense...
just ran another test after a reboot...ping was actually over 120ms (it was 148) and my download was 1334kbps and the upload was 635kbps. **** you Sense.

if you dont have AT&T LTE in your area, dont get the skyrocket.
No, there are other things...
Our radio actually works - lots of reports are coming in that the Skyrocket is having tons of connectivity issues.
Our battery life is excellent - A number of ****rocket owners are reporting that battery life on LTE is horrible.
Our phone isn't a gigantic fatty.
Our device is faster - it's not the launcher - the Snapdragon is consistently slower in every workload anyone has tested, whether it is the "feel" of the user interface, or if it's a benchmark. As much as I hate benchmarks, when they are consistent with subjective user interface responsiveness experiences, it does say something.

I am in the Chicago market (LTE) I am going to stay with the OG. Already ordered the car dock from Samsung.
I can stream Hulu+ just fine with the OG.
go to the store and compare two phones
do a speed test in the store as well
do a benchmark test as well.
It is too late for me to change to Skyrocket so I say OGGSII is better

Our radio actually works - lots of reports are coming in that the Skyrocket is having tons of connectivity issues.
Our battery life is excellent - A number of ****rocket owners are reporting that battery life on LTE is horrible.
Our phone isn't a gigantic fatty.
Our device is faster - it's not the launcher - the Snapdragon is consistently slower in every workload anyone has tested, whether it is the "feel" of the user interface, or if it's a benchmark. As much as I hate benchmarks, when they are consistent with subjective user interface responsiveness experiences, it does say something.

Enough said /thread.
+1 I think the GS2 is better, just go to the development section and see the support already from the devs
This is the exact question facing me. I am in a Non-LTE area.
From the data I have seen, Both phones have advantages and disadvantages. The OGSII has better performance, FM. The Skyrocket has Better GPS, Network Speed (In Non LTE areas, APN related ??)
None of the reviews seem to address whether the Skyrocket battery is better or worse than the OGSII. Also another thing in question is how is the radio, voice signal , data signal in marginal signal areas.
Can any one elaborate if there is any existing info on these.. ?

I made the mistake of returning my I777 for the Skyrocket. It was a pain but I'm back with the original galaxy S2. I could deal with the other draw backs of the skyrocket, but it does have major connectivity issues in a non LTE area. The Speedtest app took me 16 minutes to download.
Real world testing and data comparisons show very little difference between the snapdragon S3 and the Samsung E* processor. Granted it runs at 1.5GHz (max of course) compared to the 1.2GHz (max), I still think it's worthwhile especially since I'm in an LTE area.
I'm going to go trade in my SGS2 tomorrow. YMMV, obviously.
Real world testing:
(note the HTC Sensation uses the same/similar Snapdragon processor)

My money is on the OGSGS2 (literally)
Thanks for all info guys really appreciate it. Im still well within my 30 days from target. I did get my
Gs2 for 99.00 so that's a big plus. lol

You can't compare an HTC phone that doesn't even make use of TW 4.0... So what if it has the same processor? Does it utilize the same system ram, the same software interface, etc.? Not trying to be rude, just stating my opinion. If you're going to compare apples to apples, do it with the Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, not an HTC phone.
The HTC phone looks bad in the video, I am trying to understand if the Skyrocket will behave the same, Without the Htc sense overlay, and with a faster clocked snapdragon 1.2Ghz->1.5Ghz processor compared to the Sensation.

The radio problems with the Vivid and Skyrocket are in HSPA (3G) areas. They can drop to EDGE speed or lose data completely. If you're in an LTE area and don't travel it's not a problem. A co-worker with a Skyrocket just got back from a multi-state trip and got EDGE speeds in 3G areas. AT&T’s supposedly working on a fix. Here's a link to the discussion in the Vivid forum. That they're both experiencing similar radio issues isn't surprising considering they're both using similar Qualcomm chips.

Loved my gs2. Really did. I work with all the carriers so I always have envy of the larger screen on the sprint gs2. Zero complaints about the gs2.
My area should have lte in a couple months. I prefer the larger screen. I've have zero connectivity issues. My h+ is faster with my skyrocket somehow. Zero lag. Screen looks just as great.
It comes down to preference but do not let someone tell you the skyrocket is less of a quality choice or that it's slow and the screen is garbage. Benchmarks mean nothing. In real life I've noticed zero difference.

I read the Vivid posts and it sounds like a network or APN problem, not a device issue. I went from an i9100 to the SR and it's faster on HSPA+ everywhere. I have noticed issues with the pta APN. I switch to phone it works fine.

need opinions considering buying =]

Hello everyone,
i currently own the good ol' fashion nexus one and i decided to stick with htc.
right now i have my eyes set on the evo 3d but i would like to have some more opinions on the phone from people who acctually own\owned one.
how fast is it?
hows the 3d?
is the 1gb or rom that restrictive? [evo 3d gsm users]
does it run demanding games well? [shadowngun, GTA III, dead space, modern combat 3, etc..]
whats the highest stable overclock and how does it effect performance?
and some general notes you have to say about the device.
thanks you all and best regards

i second this. good phone...not an extreme amount of community/dev support. there is plenty, but it's not a phone that has some great number of experimental roms or anything.
Good phone, but imo should go with something newer if tech interest you. If not, go for it. Can get it really cheap now compared to the other phones with same tech. 3d is just a plus, not a must have but fun to play with and show off to friends.
And 3d boobs =
From the giant: Galaxy Note
It currently has the best resolution, openness of storage, good processor speed, and ram available on sprint. The 3D is an OK extra but even without it it's the best phone right now.

It's annoying and strains your eyes, but pretty cool the first few weeks. After that, you really stop using it.

Yep, no lag
whats the highest stable overclock and how does it effect performance?
The phone's stock clock is 1.2Ghz. The processor is meant to be at 1.5Ghz so that's the highest stable you'll go. Some phones can get up to 1.8Ghz and 1.9Ghz.
Additional Notes:
Don't get the evo 3D unless you need a new phone now. This phone is 8 months old meaning the new Evo will come out soon. Also, the GSM Evo 3D doesn't have much dev support. If you want great dev support, try the Samsung Galaxy SII.

Never played any of those but I would imagine so. It has pretty beefy processing power and as I said before, if you put a custom ROM and kernel on it then things become VERY smooth. Benchmarks are subjective and everyone has their favorite, but some people can pull over 4000 score in Quadrant benchmark with this phone.

Highest I have seen is just over 2GHz, but I dont think that is stable 100%. Highest known to be stable is a bit over 1.7GHz, most are completely stable around 1.5-1.6GHz range. I have my phone set up with a 2 stage OnDemand governor with a max speed of 1.4GHz
Performance from overclocking is big, especially on a custom kernel like AnthraX. That kernel has different GPU and bus speeds in it as well, and if you run between 1.4-1.6GHz you have an overclocked GPU as well as overclocked CPU. Going above that lowers GPU to stock speeds to help stability.
Performance is VERY good at stock though and you shouldnt need to OC to run anything.
Battery life is average Id say, but if you get just the right setup and tweak things just right you can get amazing battery life. I have gone over 3 days on a single charge with very light usage. On heavy usage it is like any phone and only goes about 5-6 hours.

I keep kidding myself that I'll watch a 3D movie or so one of these days. So far I think I watched half of Avatar.
well thats kind of disappointing i thought this phone would have better opinions...
well then i would like that ull recommend a phone if possible id like to stay with htc... loving sense and loving build quality.. and the gsII isnt a possibility for me...
i wanted the evo 3d over the sensation xe because of the ram..
the question is... is it worth the wait and the money to wait for the next gen snapdragon s4 htc devices which will probebly be annouced at mwc in a month..
great phone fast responsive with the latest update battery life has been great for me. every game i threw at it , it played it with no lag . I think it will take some time for devs to really get a hold of the 3d thing to get that and 4g into asop roms. I found this app on htc hub called phereo thats a 3d pic sharing app thats got me hooked on the 3d side of it again lol. my stable max over clock is 1728 mhz hope this helps

I don't know what these guys are talking about. This is by far the best quality/price you could get right now. There is the Motorola Atrix 4G which is also cheap but not as good as the Evo3D. The only dark spot is the camera which is good but not as great as other phones.
Evo 3D is always on the top 5 most popular phones on XDA. so I guess deving is still ongoing. Most devs are just waiting for an ICS leak to get back. And GSM dev section has nearly all flavours: Sense 3.0, Sense 3.5, AOSP (MIUI, ICS and CM) and I have no doubt that even if some builds miss one or two things, they will get mature in the near future.
Anyway, my choices would be:
If you have money, want speed with good quality build and can wait: HTC Edge.
If you have money, want speed with good quality build and cannot wait: HTC Amaze.
If you don't have money, want speed with good quality build: HTC Evo 3D.
And since I do like to use my phone (using like calling family, checking mails, feeds, etc. not like running useless benchmarks) and want it to stick around, I would never recommend a plastic phone like GSII.

This might be a bit of good news. Not so sure how much the 720p LCD of the EVO 4G LTE will affect some of these test but I'm hoping not too far off from what the S gets. Sorry if this has been posted. Leaving work and didnt have much time to search.

So what about the heat? Which processor is the best? Overheat will effect gaming performance.
More comparison with video. I notice some very minor stuttering in the One S when he is swiping screens. Again I really hope this doesnt translate over to the Evo LTE. The T3 is really smooth on the other hand. I have a Transformer Prime and its very smooth as well.

The Evo 4g LTE/HTC ONE XL are using MSM8960 which i think is better than the MSM8260A used in the ONE S. So they will handle the 720p resloution just fine.

Not exactly right here...
The MSM8260A and MSM8960 are the exact same top to bottom except in one area, and thats the Modem supported. The 8960 is more of a world more chip supporting LTE, GSM/EDGE/GPRS, EVDO TD-SCDMA, DC-HSPA+, among a few others...while the 8260A only supports UMTS(DC-HSPA+, TD-SCDMA)...
clearer break down of all their SoC's is here:
https://developer.qualcomm.com/sites/default/files/snapdragon-specs.pdf
Though comparing the performance of the OneS to the OneX is not really going to give us a solid idea of what to expect out of the EVO 4G LTE...Display differences b/w the two devices would effect performance some. The best idea will come from the OneXL.
wow...world band support...
too bad the EVO 4G LTE doesn't seem to use a sim card. otherwise i'd be ordering mine asaaaaaaap!
Sorry, but most benchmarks out there seem to be really weird.
Antutu reports what we would expect, namely almost twice as good results for the 4cores. That's integer and float. This result makes perfect sense.
Also, for tests that use only a single core, the two are head to head with an edge for the Qualcomm.
So how in the world should the Qualcomm keep up with the Tegra in other multicore benchmarks ?
Here is something to consider:
The benchmarks claiming the same multicore performance of the two only use two cores. Not all 4.
Why? Because at the time of programming them, 4 cores did not exist and the programs just did the easy thing. Making code multi-threaded is difficult by itself. But making code for an arbitrary number of cores is even more difficult.
Only antutu does it.
There is no other explanation.
Face it.

dont read into that much. its only the "supported" bands for the chip. still requires antennae's for each band and all that.

Battery life is better than evo 3d IMO, both tegra and s4 have better battery life than s2 and s3...................................................
People... the S4 is fast; deal with it.
I really have no doubt that either phone will be fast. Definitely will be faster than the Evo 3d. In my case I'm more concern of how smooth its going to perform when it comes to scrolling. I think thats one area where android has not excelled yet and the tegra 3 IMO is the closest I've seen it, based on experience with my prime. Lots of talk went into how fast the Evo 3d processor was too before it came out and it was the reason I bought it and never bothered waiting for other devices. But the Evo 3d stock wasn't what I expected. A few months later the Samsung Epic touch came out and it was fast and smooth and handled multiple flash video on 1 page at a time without any problem. The other concern I have with Evo LTE is I will be most likely be using the device over hdmi. Not sure how well the S4 will perform. The demo Qualcomm had at CES was laggy (went to CES). My primes tegra 3 have proven to me that it can handle that very very well. It's super smooth and fast and has no degradation in performance and smoothness whatsoever over HDMI.
But I posted the OP to show that S4 is fast in hopes that the 720p screen will not hinder performance or smoothness as much. I'm really hoping so.
Ok now I'm convinced S4 will be on par with T3. See link below. The only thing we wont see are Tegra 3 optimized games.
