Hi,
Trying to install the revolution ROM.
I screwed up for whatever reason, not sure why. But I want to revert back to Stock.
I have loaded stock rom onto my external microsd, but when I try to install from 4EXT Recovery touch, PH85IMG.zip, it fails.
E: Can't open /internal_sdcard/ext_sd/PH85IMG.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
What does this mean? I don't think that my phone is a brick.
I used Hansen's tool to 1) unlock bootloader 2) install 4EXT Recovery 3) install Faux kernel. 4) Tried to perm root the amaze (failed no idea why)
Then I just moved on and started with Revolution's instructions.
1) Superwipe
2) install the revolution firmware using 4EXT, it appeared to work, but when I boot I am stuck at the white screen.
3) there was some firmware flash PH85IMG (I guess revolution alters it) that the directions were not clear about installing. I did so anyway but it failed.
I gave up and now I want to go back to stock. I can not even connect Hansen's tool anymore. All I have available is recovery mode it seems.
You don't flash those files in recovery, boot to hboot and say yes to the update and it'll flash
I have nothing but the PH85IMG.zip on my sd card (external).
It had a longer name, but I renamed it. It is the stock rom.
I hold vol down + power, and then I see the HBoot menu come up.
It says loading image [PH85IMG.zip]
No image or wrong image!
I have my bootloader unlocked, S-ON, and have the 4EXT recovery installed, stock kernel
Any ideas?
In My HBoot menu it says
****UNLOCKED*****
Ruby put ship S-ON RL

Thanks in advance
If it is a stock image you wll need to relock first.
fastboot oem lock
then try again
Thanks, that did the trick!

I'm totally new and quite confused so please... anyone correct me if I'm wrong here..
I was under the assumption that you cannot flash Android Revolution HD without either being s-off (Because of the radio flash, right?) or if you're S-ON you'd have to install the official ICS leak first (to flash the radio?) and then install android revolution AND the kernel package to get it to work..
I could be totally off-base as I'm REALLY NEW and just getting into this whole thing.. but if you attempted to install ARHD while S-ON without first applying the official ICS RUU I think that's why it failed for you
Now if you're S-OFF I believe you can simply flash the firmware package/radio seperately without first installing the official ICS RUU... but with s-on you need to install the official RUU first because it's signed and the only way to update to correct firmware/radio... i THINK
COuld be wrong!

Sounds like you need to flash the ph "patch" file to use ics Rom. Your still on a gb ruu.
I would suggest reading up on how to s-off
Then upgrade to the latest RUU. there are tons of post in the first link of this forum

Wrong section, please post threads like this in the Rezound Q&A section.
You need to flash the GB kernel either as a PH98IMG.zip in the bootloader or flash the boot.img with fastboot. Because your phone is s-on, recovery can't restore the kernel on it's own. Once you have it fixed, I would also recommend you use Amon Ra for recovery, not CWM.
Wrong section, but it appears that you may need to fast boot the boot.img for the gb rom you are trying to run, if you have not tried this already.
What mjones said lol... beat me to it
as i remember i tried to flash stock 2.3 ROM with it came PH98IMG.zip, but when i tried to flash it after rom it say older version or something like that.
i know that i am on wrong place and excuse me for that one more time but i am really in deep **** because i own money to person i need to fix it soon please guys can u provide me with right things, like give me a link how to s-off wothout turning on phone, and give me the right PH98IMG.zip and stock rom. Please guys i know that it is very hard but i am really in bad situation :
Flash this zip in recovery and then try to flash the PH98IMG from bootloader afterwards....The zip i posted should now allow you to do so.
I also suggest doing more research and reading up on things before attempting them on a device you are unfamiliar with.

now i am trying to update my phone with this 2.01.605.11 Gingerbread EXE RUU
from my pc but it finds some error.
now i will try from
PH98IMG.ZIP
i will tell what will happen.
what i find so quickly if i want to flash any rom i need to be s-off, only one way to make s-off as i saw i need some wires am i right? or is there any other way?
no other way, only one s-off method.
if i were you i would
1. Relock the bootloader.
a. boot into bootloader
b. go to fastboot
c. on pc navigate to your fastboot files in cmd line
d. type "fastboot oem lock"
2. Reset mainver
3. Run the latest leaked ics Ruu
4. Install amon ra 3.15
5. In amon ra go to developer section and install super user (regular not eng)
6. Unlock the bootloader
7. S-off the phone - http://unlimited.io
8. Flash amon ra 3.15 again
9. Reformat your sd card because it most likely got messed up from s-off
10. Install ivysaur 3.2
a. go into the pkmn tweaks and turn the boot animation sound off
b. make sure everything is fine and dandy and there you go
Look into each step further make sure you know what your doing.
Some time ago I flashed my Amaze (T-Mobile US) with xboarder's BulletProof mod. Now, I would like to go back to stock T-Mobile so I can get the ICS update and be 100% stock again.
I've flashed the kernel back to stock using the HTC Amaze All in One Tool, recovery back to stock, and have downloaded the PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43 signed update. When I attempt to go into recovery with it on my SD card, with the file named PH85IMG.zip, I get a phone icon with a red question mark. If I attempt to do fastboot update file.name, I get an error that it doesn't look like it's signed correctly.
What do I do to get this thing back to stock? I'm at a loss.
You need to relock your bootloader before attempting to flash the stock RUU.
The bootloader has already been relocked. I'm having these problems with it in a relocked state.
Oh, I'm s-off, so relocking sets mine as locked and not relocked, I dunno how to go about this, give it some time and the devs will probably have the files available for flash via recovery.
Please keep all question related threads in the Q&A section. Thank you.

You cannot flash a PH85IMG.zip file in recovery. Put the RUU (renamed to PH85IMG.zip) on the root of your external SD card, reboot into bootloader and apply the update there. You must be relocked in order to flash a stock RUU file. If it still doesn't take, then you have a bad download. Redownload the RUU and try again.
You don't need to be locked, checked it myself a while ago.
..
I'm sure this has happened to others, I'm rooted, trying to run the new energy ROM and I get to the circulating blue rings and the phone freezes, reboots, repeat. I'm not sure what is going on, please inquire if you need more info.
I bet you're trying to come from Gingerbread to ICS.
If you read the Amaze Bible you will find your answer.

What arrow? Reload stock gb ruu, then give the ota update a shot, if it gives you the triangle again, check the amaze bible thread, there's a tutorial on how to use the OTA files.

Just to clarify something, once you're s-off, you DO NOT need to lock your bootloader when using stock ruu images, only s-on users need to do this.
so i went to switch out my battery and when i turned the phone back on it vibrated and displayed the white htc screen, then went black for a second and then stays on the white htc screen forever! Im a total noob when it comes to all the technical stuff about RUU's Kernels Roms and whatnot. I can get to bootloader, but i tried to do factory reset and it showed a green circle with a loading bar but then it changed into a red triangle with an exclamation. I tried flashing amon ra recovery but it doesnt work, although TWRP works. While in TWRP though, whenever i try to flash a zip file, it fails and says something like E:failed to mount /cache E:failed to mount /system E:failed to mount /data. Please help me i need this phone working to help me at my job. If someone can walk me through what i need to do i would REALLLYYYY appreciate it. Like i said though, i am a noob so i need realy stupified instructions lol. Thanks

First you should go to shipped-roms.com and download the vigor ics ruu.exe, the rezound downloads there are under vigor . Plug your phone into your computer and from hboot highlight fastboot press power and run the .exe file from your computer and follow the on screen instructions, this will return your phone to full stock ics. Make sure you download the vigor ics ruu.exe as the GB ruu will not work with s-on.
You can also download this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ it's the latest ruu it'll update your hboot, stock recovery, rom, and radios, to latest stock. Just download, rename the zip file to PH98IMG (don't include .zip it is a zip file it'll add it on its own in hboot) put it on your sd card, not in a folder just on. Put it back in your phone and boot to bootloader and runn the update, when it powers off. Run it again. (As it has to update the hboot to 2.27 first)Then you'll be on the stock latest. Then root and Rom from there. Of you need help pm me for my gtalk and I could walk you thru it..

So my screen is the exact same, i tried to flash a kernal for not only wrong phone but wrong carrier too. Anyways no OS, when i try to flash either of the ways you have explained they both dont work. When i put it on the sd card as PH98IMG it looks like it loads it in the upper right then thats it. regular bootload screen after that nothing happens. try to load it by opening the application after im plugged in as fasboot usb and the program says Install script setup launcher has stopped working. I have been able to flash liquids rom and looks as if it is booting but waited 24 min and nothing happpend just stayed on boot screen. So im just trying to get back to RUU then work from there.

Still cant get my computer to talk to my phone when in fastboot usb i cant get any devices when i do "adb devices" cmd.

Also im still stuck on TWRP 2.2 and I cant my 2.6 to flash in recovery. - Still troubleshooting this and might get it in a bit.
Thanks for the suggestions!!!

Yes i did reinstall my HTC Sync drivers, I have been wipining factory reset, cache, system, dalvick cache before i flash a new rom. I am S-On. Havent really determined a reason to go s-off yet, i am messing up my phone good enough with this let alone a paperclip. no problem with random reboots. I finally decided to go to a custom rom bc i was sick of my phone rebooting for OTA updates then being late for work. So the 3 roms i have now tried are Liquid smooth which i liked but i couldnt get mms messages to show up on phone. Also it wouldnt change from silent to a beep for text message notifications. i could select it but it would stay as silent. So.... I flashed ViperRezROm which i just didnt like the look and theme. So i finally flashed Cyanogen ROM and come to find out its the same kernal as Liquid smooth so it looks the same and I like that but I still cant change the notification from silent to a beep for text messages. So i never know when i get a text.
Still working on trying to flash a newer version of TWRP.
Then this time flashing I tried to titanium backup and went to load my backup and it cant find it.... WTF
UGH... Learning so much with this stuff. just taking alot of patience.
Thanks again for yalls support, I love this forum.
Mike
BTW just to note...if your bootloader is locked fastboot flash methods will not work 90 percent of the time...if you flashed liquid 3.0 that's more than likely your problem with mms as that is a beta...but on more recent 4.3 builds mms is fixed...and no its not the same kernel...just similar source code...liquid 2.9 does not have this mms issue...any random reboots on 4.2 are caused by min frequency not set right at 384 mhz and using amon ra to flash or not doing a proper clean flash....I do recommend s-off as it will make life much easier for you for modding things or flashing custom zips and for future flashing back to full stock if needed as its not possible while s-on...you can always pm me for help as I've yet to run into an error I can't fix unless posted in op caused by source

There is a few good reasons to S-Off.
1.No need to fastboot flash kernels
2.can RUU if needed
3.can flash recovery updates (cwm, twrp) as ph98img zips
4. Can keep bootloader ***locked***
5. No more ***tampered*** tag after you RUU
Scenario: you are out and about (or a computer isn't handy) somehow you are in an infinite bootloop. You nandroid restore. But it is something on boot partition. Only way to fix this while S-On is fastboot flashing a boot.img, but if you were S-Off, you would have restored the boot image from the nandroid.
Edit: added 5th reason

I finally went S-OFF to help another user get step by step to restore to fully locked and stock ruu. I decided to leave it S-OFF. It's so nice to be able to just load a rom and not have to do anything else (other than wiping). It makes changing/upgrading rom's a breeze.
I highly recommend it. It seems scary, but once you have done it once, you will not go back.
But be warned, never go back to S-ON on a non-HTC hboot... you will hard brick your device. That is the only real threat I've heard about... if you never go back to S-ON, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Just about any error can be fixed except for going s-on on a non-ruu hboot.
Thanks

HBOOT Error "No image!" for PH98DIAG/PH98IMG after JuopunutBear s-off [HTC REZOUND]
I tried to S-OFF my phone using JuopunutBear, and I succeeded with the wire trick, but afterwards my phone would not boot up. I tried booting HBOOT and noticed the following string of errors:

I assume this meant that the kernel was somehow messed up, so I downloaded the appropriate "boot.img" file and tried flashing it using "fastboot flash boot boot.img". It successfully flashed, but the error messages still appear in HBOOT.
I am able to boot into AmonRa recovery, but I get errors at the bottom saying
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p36

E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
...
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
...When I try to restore from my nandroid backup that I made prior to attempting to root/s-off, I get an error
E:Couldn't open directory /sdcard/nandroid/I believe this error is because of the problems in the kernel (PH98DIAG/PH98IMG files).
I cannot flash a zip from the sdcard because both the sdcard and internal_sdcard appear as completely empty no matter what I do. I have tried and successfully performed an "adb push ROM.zip /" command to put the rom onto the sdcard, but the file would not show up in AmonRa when I tried to flash a zip.
I have tried using all of the commands under the "Wipe" menu in Amon Ra. I have tried formatting data, system, and cache as both Ext3 and Ext4. I have tried using the "FACTORY RESET" command when in HBOOT. I have tried re-installing AmonRa recovery, and I have tried all of these same things using CWM, as well. None of them have produced any forward results.
I am at a loss of things to try to restore my phone to any working state... please help! I just want my phone working again at this point, rooted or not.

Thanks so much for the help! I was able to just copy the ROM file I wanted to the external SD card once it was in the PC. I reformatted the SD card first. I flashed the ROM from recovery, and it worked. When I was in recovery and hboot, it still gave me the same error messages, however. Does this mean there is still something wrong with the kernal on the internal SD card? Is there a way I can check to see if the internal SD card is working?
Thanks!

Re: HBOOT Error "No image!" for PH98DIAG/PH98IMG after JuopunutBear s-off [HTC REZOUN
When you boot to hboot it always checks for a PH98IMG.zip first and if it's not there you get regular bootloader access, if it is there you get the option to update.
You said you flashed the rom, so did you get booted ok?
Are you trying to flash something via PH98IMG.zip?
If you're s off any of the current roms have the kernel included and you just wipe completely, flash the rom and reboot.

Please help me immediately by giving simple instructions. I do not know where the rom is and what it is. I am unable to find the rom. Also how to know whether phone has ics or something else ? I need to get this working as it is not my phone. Also it showed only cdma option, can i get the gsm option to use in India.
The PH98IMG.zip you used is an older RUU. You need on with hboot 2.25 or newer in it since you are s-on. Since you are in India, I assume you cannot take Verizon OTA updates. So best bet is to download one of the mirrors linked below for global RUU.

The page says : This will not work if you used the HTC Bootloader unlock tool. Your device must be fully stock with a locked bootloader or you must have S-Off (method).

It will be CDMA only until you OTA, which means having Verizon service.
Just relock the boot loader, update with global OTA leak then unlock it again.

I messed up with my data, cache and maybe system too. Please let me know whether this is the right procedure to relock the boot loader.
1. Download the fastboot tool from Slacker101 and save it to desktop of your computer.
Fastboot Tool for Rezound
2. Plug in the phone via USB cable to your computer.
3. Go to Settings > Developer Options > Make sure USB Debugging is checked ON.
4. Open the folder called tools and hold shift on your keyboard and right click in a blank area in the folder. Then select Open Command Prompt Here.
5. When the command prompt opens, type the following with hitting enter at the end of each line:
adb reboot fastboot
fastboot oem lock
The above method not happening. Tried it in hboot and now it shows
i try to push Power button and volume down button at the same time and this is what i get ;
****** TAMPERED ********
****** RELOCKED ********
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-ON RL

Shall i update with global OTA leak ? Need your guidance please !
Be sure to give the fastboot commands in fastboot mode. Not in ROM. First command should reboot your phone into fastboot mode

Hi, so Im this complete noob in the android department and I really need help. I have a Verizon HTC rezound 4G LTE (Korean) and its running on JB( I really dont know which ROM is it). now the thing is that as I got this from someone who was a noob himself, he didn't update the sense so its basically 3.6. I researched a bit and tried updating but my recovery would not detect the file(bootloader's unlocked though). I tried rooting the device but it said I needed something called and insecure boot image which I tried flashing but the bootloader failed to detect the img file.I really dont know what to do at the moment.
my software details:
android version-4.2.1
sense version-3.6
sofware number-4.03.605.2 710 RD
kernel version-3.0 16-g480e1b0 htc [email protected]#1
baseband version- 2.22.100801r, 2.22.10.0803r
Again, I apologize for my stupidity. help would be really appreciated

your version of sense is in the rom...you cant update the sense as its packed inside the rom...if you want updated sense...get a custom recovery and flash a newer sense rom like sun_dreams sense 4.5
