hi all,i have been trying to return to 1.73 using matts dru,i keep getting this message after selecting 1 in the dru,"files\moto-fastboot'is not recognized as an internalor external command, operable program,or batch file,i am using a razr xt912 rooted with the moto-fail exploit, what am i doing wrong or missing?

Did you dl the lite or full version? I can't remember the errors I got, but I tried reflashing to .173 using the lite version, which doesn't come with the fastboot files.

There is no paid version of his utility. Are you in fastboot ap mode on your phone when you try to use his utility?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

yes i'm in ap fastboot mode,i downloaded 2 versions of dru one is a 7-zip file which i can't open on my pc even though i downloaded the program to do it ,i don't know what type of file the other version is got it from matts xda post,it opens and runs but again i get the script saying files\moto-fastboot ect...when i first tried to root using doomlord it installed the bionic bootstrapper the root didn't take so i uninstalled the bootstrapper and rooted using motofail i don't have any boot or safe strap installed, please someone help me i want to be ready when ics rolls out,.......

I'd suggest going back to Matt's thread, and going through a few pages as there is an updated version. I think it's also posted at another razr forum. Delete the versions you have just to eliminate any confusion. You may also just want to use RSD. It took me a few tries to get the right fastboot file, but once I did I just had to ota to .173 then to .181.

wow if only i would have listened to you sooner,i assumed lite or full version meant paid or free!I was at my wits end yesterday so i emailed matt and while i was reading his response something clicked in the back of my head so i went to matts thread and downloaded the full version which includes the fastboot files and tada i'm now running on the 181 update!now i just have to reroot and restore my apps from titanium and i'll be set, thanks to you and matt and all on xda who tried to help me,if i wasn't so bullheaded and paid attention i'd have had this done weeks ago,now come on ics!!!!!!!!!!

[Q] Was told not to update

Hello everyone!
Just bought the photon yesterday and have a question about updating the software. I was told by the gentlemen not to update(On 45.2.5 now) because if I did I would not be able to use WIFI. Says that the update would break it. Has anyone ran into this? I've looked around and haven't really seen any mention of it.
Any help would be great!
This is the first time I'm hearing of this. Those store reps are clueless when it comes to phones lol. It won't break your wifi.

1) What system version are you on?
2) What happened during the update?
3) Is your phone completely stock (you have not modded it in any way)?
4) If necessary, you can push the latest update via RSD Lite v5.5
Good luck!

You gotta use that for the latest update via RSD, rooting it won't get you updates. And whoever told you that updating would break your WIFI was a dolt. It actually fixes most of the WIFI issues people were having. I've attached the 5.5 version of RSD so you don't have to hunt it down. Just follow the instructions in the thread I linked above and you should be golden. :]

The problem I have is the step 6
6. Load up the SBF file you extracted from the MR download
What does that mean? Seems simple but don't remember extracting an SBF file

You need to extract the zip file you downloaded from the link xTMFx provided (contains the 198_7 SBF)...you open this SBF file in RSD Lite, connect your phone to the computer after putting it in RSD mode, and hit START.

I put my phone in RSD mode, how do I get it outta the mode or is it ok for it the stay this way until the download is done?

Once RSD lite has done it's thing, the phone will reboot, or you will have to manually reboot (it's a soft brick, just pull the battery if necessary).
Best,
K
I generally have had to pull my battery then reboot manually. But works just fine for me.

Missing 4g modem?

We have 2 droid razrs from Verizon. My phone has been mostly stock with a one time flash to an earlier build of ICS. I have seen gone back to stock and just rooted. We don't go into a 4G area very often, but today I noticed something strange.
The razr I did not flash ICS to has 4g but mine does not. Looking at the about phone screens shows one difference. On the baseband version mine shows CDMA_N_04. 07.01R
The other razr shows that plus LTEDC_U_07. 1F. 00
Is this just a simple RSD perhaps I used Matts utility to go back to 181 or whatever it was a few months ago.
Thanks hope this made sense.

Chances are the baseband was not downgraded.

Most importantly the link that is enclosed in the thread:

EDIT: links fixed
Nothing against Matt's utility, I find it very useful, and it works wonderfully in most cases... however nothing can replace a full RSD back to stock... I believe the utility skips a lot of things that RSD does... the utility is only meant to return system to stock, as to where a full RSD returns everything to stock... my only advice is load up the fastboot files into RSDlite and complete a full RSD before going any further... make sure to read all directions to do so and make doubly sure you have at least 80% battery before attempting a full RSD.

Very easy. I downloaded from the link in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850683, unzipped and updated using RSD lite. I then re-rooted using one of the idiot proof one-click methods. I just googled to get RSD lite. Info on how to do it all can be found in the dev forum; sorry i can't be ars*d to find all the links again... it'd take me as long as you.
It's easy to do as it is an 'official' update so you can use RSD- no Bootstrapper required.

What are the advantages over using RSD rather than install from zip in recovery? I'm completely stock.

I'm no expert, but i thought you didn't have an install from zip option unless you installed bootstrap or something similar so you had recovery options. Doing it by RSD means you can be completely stock (no addons) and you just use fastboot, as supplied by Moto. So it's a 'no hack' upgrade, all pukka Moto stuff.

[Q] XT910 won't update to Jellybean

I purchased a second hand XT910 installed AVG and it informed me my phone is rooted.
Now I know nothing about rooting, nor the benefits/drawbacks, however I'm being given the option to install the downloaded JB update but it keeps failing, I've worked out the reason is because it's rooted, how do I go about installing the update, or unrooting the phone so it will do it itself?
Appreciate any help provided.

Thanks for trying to help, but I have no idea what I'm doing, I'll just stop the update reminders and stick with ICS, I'm annoyed with the seller for not stating it was rooted.

when the install fails it will state what the error is if its a file it will give the md5 and sha-1 (basically a load of numbers and letters.
if you could put those and the file path someone maybe able to give you the file's you need to get the update to run.
what they mean by sbf files are these http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php these you can flash to your phone with a program RSD lite which when done will put the phone to stock, meaning to its original state and without root. then you can set the phone up how you like and can update to jelly bean.
it all sounds really hard but its not really i did it myself not knowing a thing before.

Hi, it doesn't give any error code, the droid falls over, it restarts the phone, then just says software update failed.
Here is a screenshot of the system info, don't know if it can help you help me?

[Q] Have I bricked my razr?

So I had ota ics and using safestrap to run aokp jb 4.2.1. I was messing around in 4636 hidden menu and activated usa band. Searching for a fix didn't help so I figured I could just use rsd lite and re-flash ics. I had long since the first time deleted all the files so I got the ones from sbf droid developers.org. The first I tried had 11 points and failed at 1/11 with a cdt.bin error. Then I got another which ran till 6/xx and then return the same error. The xx is because I didn't notice how many points it had to run through.
Do I have any options?
In rsd lite the device properties are all blank and they have been for both attempts.
Thanks

That error means you tried to flash an sbf with a lower version than you had on your device.
Make sure the sbf you are using is exactly the same you had running and for the same region.

Android version can't be downgraded.
What are you trying to do?
As I said in OP, I was messing with stuff I didn't understand. I got the factory cable and also one of the old sbf files. I have checked that the one I have is for UMTS but it is still in CDMA mode. It just will not switch bad to UMTS mode.. I was using the wrong android version when I did this the first time but it is now flashed and working. Only problem is the radio thinks it is CDMA..

Factory cable for power. The phone had been unpowered for a year.
Term or not, I was just referring to the file extension. All these oem abbreviations, meh. I wouldn't even know if it was one or the other. It was listed as a sbf, so that's what I called it
But thanks replying. The is working now. I guess it must have been the right radio after all. Thanks anyway
