Flash help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday i rooted my phone and put a kernel on it was all ok but i wanted to over clock my Wildfire s-on and it didn't have the overclock function as it did in the video tutorial so i looked for some more kernels and then found a couple installed them it was all ok but then my phone wouldnt connect to wi-fi so i wanted to flash it. It didnt work a load of times so i tried installing a new kernel hoping it would help "Simon's sense 3.5".
So this new kernel made my 3g stop working and kept saying i got no signal but i could still call. So i read a guide on how to flash using PG76IMG.zip and this completely messed it up when i start my phone up because i factory reseted it, it started up with choosing language etc i get paste the language an internet set up and then it just turns into a black screen i can still see the bar at the top but cant scroll it down and i can plug in usb and it will come up to choose which one.
I tried flashing with RUU but it keeps giving me some error 155 i think and then when it goes on to the recovery bit my phone just stays on the black screen with white HTC writing and doesnt do anything. Someone please help because i dont want to pay to fix something like this and my warranty probably wont cover it as i rooted.

Well today i got it to start up and got past the factory reset bit so its working like a normal phone but thinks it hasn't got any service but i can call... The wi-fi and 3g still dont work.
Anyone can help me?

As you said, it's probably your kernel's problem. Try flashing a different kernel? Take note that some kernels only support AOSP and not sense ROMs, and may lead to problems for your phone.

Thanks for your reply but what i want to do is just unroot it and revert back to stock but the kernel i installed has a custom theme so its all different i tried flashing but it doesnt clean out anything the kernels are still there and my wifi,3g and service dont work does that mean its bricked?
Could you help me get rid of the custom theme so i can just bring it to the phone shop and get it fixed for free?
And also could this be a hardware failure if my connections stopped working after installing some kernel/rom?

[Q] The first time I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unflashable HTC HD2

After thousands words, hundreds attempts I'm giving up and bringing up this discussion on this forum..I really hope your experience and deep knowledge of subject finally will help me..I live overseas and use to order HTC HD2 T-mobile for my friends and some times just for sale..It was my 7-th T-mobile HTC HD2 when I got problem with flashing custom ROM...I installed HSPL 2.08 and started to flash my usual custom ROM via USB for T-mobile 1024,I took out sim card and memory stick before flashing..When I finished I did a soft reset and got frozen STICK TOGETHER screen...Phone just stuck...Forgot to say that before flashing I format device with Task 29..So I format it again and flash one more time, process itself was successful , but again I got STICK TOGETHER and that's it...I decided to flash another radio, CORRECT one (50) special fot T-mobile 1024, after several updates error phone just died..I got a brick, I couldn't even go to bootloader mode..I reanimate device with JTAG, and tried almost all official ROMs, I flashed them via usb, using memory card..Sometimes during flashing it stopes and I have to reboot, sometimes i got a sign on screen that update is completed, but when I turn device on nothing happened..I tried MTTY method, didn't help...I don't really know what to do now..May be I missed something important but as I said I'm not a noob already, and have red tonnes of information regarding flashing ROMS... Any ideas would be highly appreciated, i still hope that is just software problem not hardware, otherwise I can just throw it away...thanks for reading this story

Just a 杯具
Yeah, you either need a new motherboard or use JTAG to reflash the bootloader..

I flash ROM first and after i got problems with booting tried to resolve with flashing radio...anyway I guess it is hardware problems...It's vibrating time to time i go to boot loader mode, however it is ok when I reinstall HSPL, I still can see WE hacked it ...tofay I flashed an Ebergy ROM and it said that update was successful, but again when I turn device on I stuck on STICK TOGETHER ..Damn it,I'll try to flash radio, because I haven't had a success with it..By the way what abo0ut goldcard method, I don't really know what is it and how it can help..thanks

[Q] please help :(

i am hoping that i did not brick my phone as i just spent $600 to go get the bloody thing. i flashed darkcore kernel onto it and it was fine. the phone was fine until i went to go change the battery icon (the phone is a samsung i9000 galaxy s) it boots into recovery but when i go to do a normal boot it littraly freezes at the boot screen and thats it i left it on the table for HALF AN HOUR and when i came back it was still on the boot screen . the boot screen says galaxy s gt-i9000 (white writing) powered by darkcore and darkysrom (green writing) please help me i hope i have no bricked my phone as i am a noob to android as i have only had my phone a few days. do i need to replace the modem on the phone ? or the kernel? please if someone knows to get in contact with me. i have odin and superoneclick installed on my pc. i have wiped everything off my phone wipe data/factory reset but that doesnt do anything diffrent. it simply stays on the boot screen. i have not flashed a custom rom onto my galaxy it only has a custom kernel.

OK it is simple really. What did you do when it started causing issues? You tried to change the icon, so undo your changes. You didn't say how you tried to change it at all so not sure what steps you have to take. Also please do the proper research before you do something that can't be fixed

Android phones are REALLY REALLY hard to brick. what you need to do, is get yourself a factory default rom, and start over where you messed up. Messing with these phones is all trial and error. I have bricked my samsung fascinate over 30 times im sure, hell almost 10 times last night as im porting miui v4 to my phone. Dont freak out learn what ODIN is, and get it fixed.

Not all android phones are hard to brick. Take a look at the SGS II and the Euro Note that were perm bricked from a wiping data. No JTAG recovery would fix it. Also there are many ways to brick a device and as you recovered it. You didnt brick it. Bricking it makes it non recoverable except by Jtag. Too many people use this word wrong.
On a side note... Why would you spend 600 dollars on that phone?
Samsung problems
i really have no idea why i spent so much on it lol and i used the android app "DarkyODA" i think it was i flashed CwM DarkCore v3.0.2.8x kernel onto it via DarkyODA and it was fine after that but until i went to change the battery icon on the DarkyODA app then i went to reboot my phone and now its stuck at the boot screen i left it on overnight on the boot screen to see if it would reboot got up in the morning and it still was on the boot screen, i can get into the recovery menu but thats about it, i have been trying to find a stock kernel and rom for my phone but i simply cannot find one (build number xwjvp), i think its the battery icon thats making the phone freeze at the boot screen ive done a full system wipe but that didnt fix it, and i cannot remove the icon as i installed it on the darky app (which i cannot access as i cannot get past the boot screen), do i need to flash a stock rom and kernel or just a stock rom ? do you reckon that would fix my phone ? as i do not want to go and spend another $450 to get samsung to fix it (lol) i have odin 1.85 and i went to go flash voodoo kernel xwjvp v1.3 through odin but it got stuck half way through............

HTC One Won't Boot After Failed Rom

When I bought my HTC One it already had a custom rom installed.
It was some stock android 4.2.1 nexus but with chinese interface and alot of chinese apps and recovery etc were all chinese.
So I couldn't do **** with this and tried to removing it and getting it back to stock HTC one rom.
After alot of tutorials online on xda and many others I couldn't find one that was easy enough for me to make it happen.
It was also my first time with a HTC. Never done it via fastboot/commandprompt etc.
I'd like to add that I am on a MAC aswell It took me a while to find a tutorial via mac but mine simply did not accept those commandlines which worked in the tutorials.
Afterwards I tried flashing it via recovery by installing from SDcard. Which is probably quite the stupid thing to do but I was angry and didn't know any other options since everything failed.
After It started installing stock rom from SD card it was stuck at a screen with "No command" A lying dead android with a red triangle above him and there was one line: Install /sdcard..
I was hoping he would install it but he didn't do anything and got stuck there.
I couldn't restart, couldn't get back to recovery, to anything nothing worked.
I waited untill battery life was drained.
Which happened and after batterylife ended and I put him back on a charger nothing happends.
Phone wont turn on whatsoever.
When I put him on a charger the phone blinks real quick to a white screen and goes back to black screen and still doesnt start whatsoever.
How ****ed am I ?
Can I get rid of this?
Can I still install that stock ROM that I so badly want?
Thanks

[Q] possable SDS, can i fix or data recover? help!

hey guys thanks for any help. here is my problem.
i got an s3 i9300T to fix for sister in law. she apparently went in to telstra and got told that if it was her fault she would have ot pay for the repairs and she needed a phone while its away so she just payed of the contract. not sure what she exactly wants except for her data back.
upon taking a quick look it had a familiar screen. the computer triangle phone screen. im like sweet easy fix with an odin flash.
i installed a 4.0.4 version of telstra software(will look what one later) and it magically booted im like sweet. then encounter the sim lock. had to wait a day for the information so i left it over night on charge. (she wanted her contacts as well apparently but at the time i didn't know what she wanted really and i didnt just think to take out the sim.) ended up asking what she exeactly was wanting and phone was looking fine. tryed to update through kies and apparetly wasnt not able to be done on that android version. i left it another day and noticed that it was stuck on that boot logo/splash screen. i noticed i can still get in to recovery and download so i tryed to reflash same software. unsuccessful half way i tryed to use a 4.1.2 version that would not get pasts a tz** (replace starts with letters i cant remember atm) i suggested to just keep in on wanrrenty as odin hasnt counted anything yet. but they seam more for data recovery. should i try something iive tryed again or not tryed. or just try flashing recovery and trying to get the data off that way?
as i cant access stock recovery atm and its back to the computer triangle?
i know i dragged on sorry hope i explained correctly.
sorry fail to understand the post and your problem.
If its SDS you cannot recover data but you can fix with a new motherboard .
as far as i can tell i cant get the device too boot or accept new firmware, and it looks to be the sds problem but im not sure.. i think ill try and install a custom recovery and see if i cant mount it and get the data back.

Galaxy s8 rooting problems plz help!

Hi firstly im a massive noob so bare with me. I decided to root my s8 and this seemed to go fine then after 2 hours (in which time i didnt install or change anything as i was working) the phone crashed and switched itself off and when i tried to turn it on it would just alternate between the black samsung screen and a blue samsung loading screen but never actually turn on so after hours of panic and frantic googling i found a fix using firmware and odin so i did this and the phone now works. The only problem is its just not working right some things r quite subtle like the settings menu has some extra stuff on it or the keyboard is laggy or it auto corrects things weirdly like hey is corrected to marty and it underlines every word like its spelt wrong. Other things r not as subtle like my wifi switches itself off or looses signal my actual signal is alot lower than it was before or apps like twitter take ages to load and some apps dont work at all. could u please help im wanting to get it back to normal then root. Sorry for such a long post and thanks

Hi there. As I personally don't own a s8 i dont know what options you have etc, but what I hear could be problem with the firmware, I had another problem what was way dangerous than this, i dont know what it's called as it haven't happened to a lot of people, but I would try to boot up my phone, then at the very start, I would get a error message saying "kernel is not seandroid enforcing", this happened when I installed a boot.img(the booting procedure) that wasn't correct with the rest of the firmware, I had to download a stock rom just as you, and flash that through Odin.
My questions are if you wiped data and cache partition? If you don't know how, you turn of your device, then you boot it back up while holding power, home, vol-up (search on Google on "how to boot [insert phone name/model number here] into recovery mode. ) From there you can easily wipe data and cache. If you want you could install a custom recovery. I recommend TWRP. You can learn how to download it here and before I give you the link, remember... Google and XDA is your friend https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/
Also, when you flashed the software, did you make sure it was the correct firmware, and did you make sure on how to do it correct, if not...your device might be soft-bricked. This is easy to fix as long as you can still access download mode. To fix a soft bricked device, open up Odin while you have your phone ready to enter download mode, and flash stock rom again, then make sure to wipe both data AND cache. If you forget to do this, your device should be safe as it wouldn't boot up, but always make sure to do this to make your device work.
If you need any more help...let me know, and I would say, flash your rom again
