So here is the problem.
I have an LG thrive, a very problematic phone, because any rom on new baseband has a color problem, and can only be fixed by new baseband PG phionix kernel (.35 kernel).
I am trying to run UI-one MIUI port rom, which has a problem, keyboard does not work, does not pop up at all and any other keyboard such as go keyboard does not work. The only way to fix this is to use Franco kernel 4 but when i do use it, the colors are terribly wrong.
So when my colors are corrected with stock .35 kernel from another phone, it the colors are ok but no keyboard, it does not pop up at all.
so is their a way to merge stock p505 .35 kernel and Franco kernel 4??
if their is, can some one do it for me please, thanks if anyone at all can help me.
Sadly, no. You'll have to choose one

my opinion
I also think that it was impossible, but you can edit a kernel and grab some codes to other kernel then compile it...
For old baseband, try jobans kernel. I'm using the LG thrive now. Jobans kernel , #8 - 2.6.32.9, is the only one that Ive found that works for this phone model. Your only other option is to flash new baseband, which I haven't done yet. Search xda for this.

Im using lg Phoenix gingerbread kernel because jobans for some od reson doesnt work

Again, you stated you have an LG Thrive. The Thrive and the Phoenix, tho similar, are two different beasts.

I understand that, otherwise I would not have so many problems with thrive. So if some one can take franco kernels ability to fix miui UI one from keyboard problem and p505 gb kernels ability to fix my baseband color problem, I would kill the thanks button to thank that person.

Hi, I just spent the last few days reading all the stickies and guides learning how to flash a custom rom. I think I'm ready.
I (will) have a P509 soon which I will be using on Wind Mobile in Canada. It uses the same AWS 1700 freq but doesn't support wifi calling afaik.
I was contemplating between mik_os' 6.5.5 and this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072252). The latter one says,
Note: Wifi Calling may cause serious problems on your phone if your carrier does not have support for it.

Is wifi calling something I can just turn off within settings? Or can I not use this rom given that Wind does not support wifi calling?
Thanks.
Im just using stock tbh. Wait for 2.3 offical

Void forever our miks cyanogen mod 7 and use francos v18 kernel it will give best performance I use the optimus t and have tried most the roms including stock 2.2 and 2.3 they are the best

Are you using at least a custom kernel to fix the touch screen bug? Have you tried custom roms and found them to be buggy? Just want to know your reason for sticking with stock (2.2?).

Thanks for the suggestion. Would you consider that to be the most stable / least-bug combination as well?
If your talking about it freezes up for a bit. Then no. in using francos kernel as well. Just all the roms seem not appealing to me

Really want to congratulate Tasssadar for his multirom
After thinking about the whole concept about dual booting for awhile, an idea came to me. Of course this might just be wishful thinking, but is it possible to dual boot a kernel? The reason why I would want such a thing is because some kernels are better than other kernels in specific "fields" (some are performance-oriented, some are not performance-oriented but do pack a good number of fixes for let's say the axis inversion bug and cpu lag fix; btw i am, in no way, trying to degrade any kernel).
Now I would give this a shot myself if it weren't for my lack of knowledge in android development

...isn't that multi kernel(.32 and .35) or not...?
Actually from what I think we should move on to .35 kernel, no point still using .32. Franco should add the fix for axis inversion in his .35 kernel, then i dont think we need multiboot kernel as it has the best of both worlds(battery and performance)

you knew what kernel and bug i had in mind
if franco added the axis inversion bug and cpu lag fix bug to his kernel, there would be no reason why people would use other kernels. of course that is entirely up to him
Which kernel do you use??

franco.kernel v1.1 02102011
performance is great, but i really like the axis inversion and cpu bugfixes in paolo's kernel
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's kind of impossible because Kernel is the first thing loaded after baseband
Ny way to fix mulotioucj bug..

The idea sounds good as I wish cm7 came with .35 kernels and not .32's

Fail dunno what **** you are talking about.
Guys is there a way to convert a ROM using .32 kernel into .35 version ?? I can sucessfully boot the ROM after flashing a .35 kernel on it but got FC on few apps and perfomance is not well increased :/ ... Is there a way to change to .35 without the sources ?? could it be possible by replacing some libs ??
I have a short answer: no.

Well it is easy.... Use some "Kernel Converter" and convert it....
P.S: I don't want to post the Godzilla Facepalm
There's no way you can convert kernels...I don't honestly see why you'd want to especially since in the past few months I haven't seen any 32 kernel roms being produced....pretty simple theory really,35 is performance and 32 is battery with a bit of performance..it goes more into detail but honestly 35 kernels are honestly the best route to take

Can't say about kernel but maybe with some changes in lib and bin u can.but don't waste time on such crappy thing

I was curious if anyone has had better luck with kernels than I have. Currently the only kernel I've found that works, aside from stock, is Jobans #8 kernel. Keep in mind that I'm still running old baseband.

Titles already says it, If any one still had the old paolo kernels e.i V3. link was dead so I asked if anyone still had it and can share it to me, and probably others looking for it too.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have paolo's kernel the one with vsync off? can you attach it on your reply.
