I was curious if anyone has had better luck with kernels than I have. Currently the only kernel I've found that works, aside from stock, is Jobans #8 kernel. Keep in mind that I'm still running old baseband.

Can we get a up-to-date kernel for GB ROMs? I know we have Bullet, Simply Honey's Talon kernel & some other one but they're not stable enough. I dont know if Simone is still trying to fix the problem with the Talon kernel. We need a good enough kernel for the Vibrant community.

Well the only problem with that is, we don't have a gingerbread source code for the vibrant to build any truly stable kernals. All the devs can do is tweak what they have to the vibrant.

So here is the problem.
I have an LG thrive, a very problematic phone, because any rom on new baseband has a color problem, and can only be fixed by new baseband PG phionix kernel (.35 kernel).
I am trying to run UI-one MIUI port rom, which has a problem, keyboard does not work, does not pop up at all and any other keyboard such as go keyboard does not work. The only way to fix this is to use Franco kernel 4 but when i do use it, the colors are terribly wrong.
So when my colors are corrected with stock .35 kernel from another phone, it the colors are ok but no keyboard, it does not pop up at all.
so is their a way to merge stock p505 .35 kernel and Franco kernel 4??
if their is, can some one do it for me please, thanks if anyone at all can help me.
Sadly, no. You'll have to choose one

my opinion
I also think that it was impossible, but you can edit a kernel and grab some codes to other kernel then compile it...
For old baseband, try jobans kernel. I'm using the LG thrive now. Jobans kernel , #8 - 2.6.32.9, is the only one that Ive found that works for this phone model. Your only other option is to flash new baseband, which I haven't done yet. Search xda for this.

Im using lg Phoenix gingerbread kernel because jobans for some od reson doesnt work

Again, you stated you have an LG Thrive. The Thrive and the Phoenix, tho similar, are two different beasts.

I understand that, otherwise I would not have so many problems with thrive. So if some one can take franco kernels ability to fix miui UI one from keyboard problem and p505 gb kernels ability to fix my baseband color problem, I would kill the thanks button to thank that person.

Hey guys, I've been looking at updating my kernel if it was necessary.
Basically, here's my current information about my phone:
Kernel version: 2.6.32.39-MB860-CM7-g54722f1 [email protected]#4
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0.Ba2tF-Olympus
I'm would like to update the Kernel on my phone. I wasn't sure if I could just pick up any Kernel out there for the Atrix 4G. I wasn't sure if it was dependent on what Mod version you were running etc.
If someone can let me know it's ok to pick up any kernel that would work for atrix 4g or if it was dependent on the mod version and suggest any kernel that has worked for you and any others that you recommend not using.
I have updated roms but restored back because it once in a while during the day and sometimes in use would reboot...some people that I have read on the forum indicated to update the kernel would/might resolve the issue. So your suggestions and recommendation is highly appreciated. Thank you.
You can flash any of the kernels developed for CM7.
I would recommend any of fauxs kernels depending on whether or not you use OC. He has kernels ranging from 1Ghz to 1.45Ghz. All of the have been stable for me with good battery life.

Honestly ur best bet would be just to update to the newest cm7 nightley your on a really old version and kissing out on some good updates the kernel that vo.es with it is really nice or at least upgrade to the rc1 but i will also agree with the faux kernels i use the 1.45 overclock with out ant issues and live it

Agreed. Get off Ba2tF. It's not any more stable than the release candidates, in fact it is probably significantly less so. Also, tons of important updates have been made to the kernel and just about everything else.

Hey
This last weekend I rooted and installed different roms to try. Most of them still have poor wifi performance, just like stock.
Is there a way to make wifi better? Maybe flashing a new kernel, a new modem or something?
Thanks.
Modems/Radios are meant for Service network provider thingies, like your signal. Whereas, Kernels are for more "internal" things, they affect battery life and WIFI.
so i suggest you flash a custom kernel that best suits you
I hope this helps!
Thanks!
I was thinking of trying siyah kernel. Is it the best one for Wi-Fi performance or is there another one better?

If you're on ICS, Siyah and Franco both worked well for me, if you're on JB, Siyah alpha/beta builds are the only option until the i9300 sources are released.

Despite Siyah is on beta build for jb, it's very stable...

I flashed siyah 1.5.3 with CM10 teamasek rom but wifi still doesnt work. I dont options for wifi inside Stweaks.
I will keep trying with other roms.
What I want is the best combo for the best wifi performance. Best combo rom - kernel - whatever. I really need to improve my wifi performance at home.
Put my wifes TB on skyraider zeus (Bamf). The stock kernel seems a bit laggy with very poor battery life. I have been looking for a solid OC kernel, but it seems as if any of the links I find are dead.
Can someone please help me out with some options to run with this Rom, suggestions and/or links?
thank you in advance.
Me personally I would use imoseyon lean kernel. By far the best kernel for the t bolt. I can give you a link. Remind me what sense version that rom is.
