[Q] Change model/unbrick? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Yes, I'm an X10 mini n00b. And yes, I posted this by mistake on the general forum. I'm sorry.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry to post this, but I've been mucking around the net for over two days trying to find a solution, this is my last hope.
To the point:
I've an X10 min - e10i.
I had firmware 2.1.1.a.0.6 on it, and did all the steps towards installing a custom firmware.
I installed recovery, and it worked, so I created a NANDROID backup, then I rooted it, I hacked the bootloader. Everything was fine.
Then I came to put the minicm7.2, and everything stopped working.
The phone would not boot anymore past the Sony Ericsson logo wouldn't even go into recovery.
I mucked around a bit with flashtool, s1tool and others and got to the final position I'm in right now -
Phone boots, but the model now is e15i (no idea how that got there), and the buttons won't work, the sim and sdcard are unrecognized.
How do I fix this? I can't find the generic firmware for the A.0.6 anywhere, and non of the ftf's I downloaded were any help.
Tried to flash the E10i_2.1.1.A.0.6_Sony Ericsson.ftf one (220mb) and it shows me the unplug/plug your phone dialog.
Neither Pc Companion nor SEUS were any help.

your phone can't go into flash mode?
---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 PM ----------
you go download E10a firmware it should be work~

I smell something wrong here...
First, you said that you want to flash MiniCM7.2, but then it stucks on SONY ERICSSON LOGO. Well, since installing this ROM needs an nAa kernel, and installing nAa kernel means you won't have any SE Logo when you boot it up, there's something messed up, causing your phone error...
First, make sure you already bootloader unlock your phone properly. Second, try install latest nAa kernel using flashtool. After that, see how it works. If it runs, enter recovery mode, factory reset, clean dalvik-cache, and install MiniCM7.2 ROM again.
Sent from my U20i using XDA

When it shows the 'unplug/plug in phone" screen do the following:
Turn off your phone
Disconnect the USB cable
Press and hold the back-button (bottom right one)
Plug in the USB cable while holding that button
The led should turn green and flashtool should start flashing the firmware.
Hope this helps.

[Q] I think I "soft bricked" my X10 Devs Help????

Anyone know what I need to do to fix this? Phone doesn't boot up past the sony ericsson screen and seus/pc companion will connect but won't flash the global generic 2.1 and I can't get flashtool 2.9.1 to flash the x10 generic 2.1.A.0.435 either? I updated Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 V05 + update V054 to his new V06 update. I got alot of force closes so i attempted to wipe everything and flash Generic 2.1.A.0435 so after that i did reboot flashed Wolfbreaks V05 + update V06 and reboot, restored apps and data using MyBackup + root and Titanium + root then started having force closes again so i thought i would forget this update and go back to V05 + update 054 since it works great. that is when i did a reboot to enter Xrecovery but the phone wouldn't enter Xrecovery and is now stuck on the sony ericsson boot screen. The only way to turn it off is to pull the battery. I haven't seen any red led lights on the phone at all. Anyone have any advice? I'm stuck. if any needs more info just ask.
Btw is this what "soft bricking" a X10 is? that's what i was told.
guys I was able to finally get my phone to stay in flash mode long enough to prepare my X10 using SEUS after trying about 50 times. It didn't completely finish the update/flashing of Global 2.1 before giving me a error but i believe that the "preparing stage" was able to help get the phone to stay in flash mode longer because the green light wouldn't stay on very long. So i was beginning to think i had a bad usb jack on the phone, luckily that wasn't it. I also tried Flashtool 2.9.1 with no success. I then got the idea to try my the older 2.6 flashtool that i still had on my computer and to my surprise it worked. I was able to flash generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware, root, optimize and Xrecovery. I talked to The Gingerbread Man and he directed me to his X10 guide which is where i got the idea to try the 2.6 flashtool. Oh and I am pretty sure what i did wrong was restoring data after flashing the V06 update. Wolfbreak specifically states NOT to restore data ONLY apps which i didn't see at first. Hope this helps anyone that has experienced these symptoms because i didn't find any posts of my exact situation when i was searching for answers.

dude chill out, our beloved x10 is unbrickable till date..!!
make sure you have prover usb drivers for x10 to be recognized by flashtool!!
if yes make sure you're entering the flash mode correctly..!!
ok. Question. I have the same problem, my X10 had the new CM7 k005 on it. then I tried to flash back to bb 49 to put Trips 2.3.3 on it. flashed the back to stock kernel. NOW. all I get is re-boot re-boot, finally all it does is stay on the se screen with no love at all from seus??? And it wont go into xrecovery at ALL
HEEEEELLLPPP MMMEEEEEEEEEEE
Seus picks up the in flash mode.
Get Seus ready "select your phone.."
Just switch off your phone.
Hold "back" & Plug in the usb into the phone at the same time.
A green LED should show.
Then after it has flashed the phone might act a bit "glitchy" just give it a few hours to settle the Baseband.
isnt there already a million topics about people bricking x10s, its impossible the x10 cannot be bricked....search the forum
yeah there is but this was the first one I found to hijack!! anyway, I had to keep prssing update about ten times on seus before it got sick of me and gave me another option of which phone I was trying to repair!! thats how bad I had it stuffed up.
Anyhoo, a while later and it is all good!!

[Q] {HELP} another x10 stuck at se boot

hi guys. my x10 froze at se boot and does nothing. i've read through almost all helpfull threads that are similar to my problem but the problem still persist. fyi, i booted to xrecovery, made a backup and i noticed that there were problems in backing up (md5 chcksum, i think). but the backup file was created. i restored using that file and now it is stuck at boot. i can't even turn the phone off. i've tried hard reset, tried using the sues, flashtoo and even pc tools but to no avail. this is due to the phone can't connect to usb. can anyone please help me.
You have do a factory reset and wipe cache?
how can i do that andres3d? are there any way for me to do that? i'm trying but the phone just can't go past the se boot. it's just stuck there. i can't even turn the phone off. the only way is to take out the battery.
Try this, enter into xrecovery and select "factory resect" first at all, then reboot.
I got stuck there too, and I haven't the xRec installed
You can download the SE Update Service (SEUS) and flash the original rom back to it.
Download the software and install, take off the battery, wait a little bit (30s or so), insert the battery back. DO NOT TURN ON THE PHONE YET.
Open the SEUS, choose the phone (X10) and click 'go', or 'ok', or whatever. Keep going and the software will tell you to plug the phone. Plug the phone turned off. When it's plugged, turn it on holding the back button until the software tells you to release.
Wait a few moments... and it's done. Turn on your phone, it should take a little longer to boot, but it's just the first time, then it boots normally.
It's quite easy to do when you know what to do
thanks in advance but i've tried both method and it still got me nowhere. first, i can't boot to xrecovery at all and second, the sues doesn't even detect my phone.
Did you try download a stock firmware from here and install by flashtool?
Do you have installed drivers from x10 to your PC?
I thing the only way is by flashtool, because you don't have xrecovery access l.

Hi all
Unfortunetly my case is 99% similiar as "Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10XPERIA X10 Q&A[Q] {HELP} another x10 stuck at se boot" but changing the cables doesn't help. The only thing which the phone respond is to hold back starting of booting what immidietly happening when i'm connecting the usb cable.
I had xrecover installed before but is not starting onto flashing mode.
Any ideas

Hard bricked x10i maybe

He guys. I've been trying to sort my friends X10i that's stuck on the boot screen displaying either the Sony Ericsson logo or a camera icon with an arrow pointing down towards an image of the phone,
He told me he tried to update the phone with SEUS and it switched off half way though. Since then it just hangs at boot as described above.
I have tried using SEUS. The phone is recognized and the process goes all the way to 100% but when I try and reboot after completion it just hangs again. Interestingly every time I connect it to SEUS it tells me there is new software available.
I have also tried using FlashTool 0.9.8.0 and these ROMS:
Sony Ericsson X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_GLOBAL-GGL_GENERIC_1232-9897
X10_1.0_SE_StockRom_MultiTouch
Like SEUS, FlashTool reports that ROM flashing was successful and ask me to reboot but the same thing happens. It hangs.
My friend bought the phone second hand and so has no idea if it was running a stock or custom ROM or had a locked or unlock bootloader.
I've searched high and low on the forums for an answer and can't find one.
Can anyone help?
try flashing the doom kernel from flashtool
Hey finalbillybong dont despair, all is not lost.....yet
First be sure the phone is fully charged - like overnight....
Try playing around with flashtool... its quite powerful... go to 'help/ check drivers' and see what happens.
Just be sure to flash the right kernel (its easier to .ftf files) for the right rom. Some work really well together and some are just o.k. If unsure search the forums - i know its painful but read all the noob stuff.
Here are some links - some are fairly old but the principle is the same - just search the forums for updated versions/software.

[Q] Blank Screen After Flashing Custom ROM

I have been visiting this site ever since I first read about X10 & was fascinated by it (I have always loved SE phones). Anyway, I have since gotten an X10i (AT&T) & have de-branded it as well as unlocking & rooting it. Here goes:
I installed Champs' Rom (x10sV9-addon) but didn't want all the clutter he had pre-installed. To make a long story short, I went back to Wolf's ROM via Xrecovery but something went wrong. I can no longer boot into Xrecovery & after SonyEricsson logo, screen goes blank, not black/blue just blank. The other problem is, since I can't see the screen, I can't turn on the USB connection so my PC/Flashtool/SEUS can recognize my device so I can fix it. This happened while trying to re-install Wolf's ROM & installing the following zip files via Xrecovery: Bravia_Xloud engine, Xperia S Player, Champ + Bar, x10_gb_stock_wifi_modules. Then I rebooted & I get the blank screen. I know it is on because I can turn the volume all the way down to vibrate. The "home" button still lights up. PLEASE, I need someone's help with this one as I am no expert, just a moderate tinkerer. ANY help/incite would be appreciated. Sorry, I can't even give you any screenshots. Can anyone out there help me out? Thanx in advance.

RE: Blank Screen After Flashing Custom ROM
Thanx for getting back to me so fast. As I said, the screen is blank. That is, the backlit display works but I can see nothing else. The "Home" button lights up when i press it but the display does nothing. If/When I reboot to try to enter XRecovery, I see the SonyEricsson logo followed by the backlit screen & nothing else. The Volume up/down buttons work as I am able to silence the phone by turning volume all the way down to vibrate. Because I cannot see what's on the display, I cannot turn USB on/off to connect to PC to run SEUS/Flashtool, etc. I.E. I cannot fix the device. Usually I just boot into XRecovery to fix a problem like this but that doesn't work.

hy, install sony update service and repair your phone, then install again custom rom, the indications how to repair your phone software is in the program.
Best regards

I wish I had gotten this solution sooner. Not sure if it would have mattered. When trying to use Flashtool I kept getting an error saying my phone was not in "flash mode".
I solved my problem by flashing using Omnius & flashing firmware 'X10i_generic_SE_24_MultiTouch.rar'. This got my phone back but it was only 2.1 so I used 'DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su' to get me back to 2.3, but this is where I'm at. I had Wolf's firmware before but right now I have no xRecovery installed. I thought I had rooted my phone but xRecovery isn't installed nor is Busybox.. Any ideas? Thanx in advance...EVERYONE @ XDA-DEVELOPERS rox!
I haven't replied to this post because I'm at my wit's end. I still can't get XRecovery installed & I think I've tried all the methods out there. Maybe my problem is that I restored my phone using Omnius. Flashtool works OK but I can't do anything but Flash on it. My phone is a headache now. It freezes up, crashes & sometimes won't read the SD card. Please help...

C if u can repair phone using SEUS now. Open the software without connecting phone. N then go to the update part. It should give u a repair option. Then follow those steps. Or else just connect ur phone n then start software. When it tells u ur phone is up to date click on that n then click on "repair". Then use the latest flashtool to root. Recoveries come with kernels so just flash a custom kernel.

Ur welcome i don't think u need help you just flashed a custom ROM.. the procedure for installing ICS is the same. Although it'd be better if you are on stock before installing it.. just look for an ICS ROM that u like (I'm using feralab n it works like a charm).
Get the kernel n ROM.. as usual, put the ROM zip on ur SD card, flash the kernel, install ROM from recovery
Although before installing:
1. In recovery go to mounts n storage
2. Format system data n cache
3. Mount system, data n cache (note that if the mounting is successful the options should change to unmount system, unmount data, unmount cache respectively)
4. Then install ROM
5. The installer is GUI based so it'll guide u really well through the installation

[Q] Help I killed? my customers X10i

OK Im pretty new to Android flashing etc, so go easy please
Customer brought in X10i locked to Orange-UK and running firmware 1.6
I used flashtool to flash 2.1 rom and after flash completed, phone boots to SE logo (writing) and then is stuck.
I have tried updating using both SEUS and PCCompanion. Both say that they have updated the phone successfully but phone still does not start.
After flashing with PCC boot process was same problem as before except I briefly saw an image of a camera and a blue arrow pointing down to a phone.
After flashing with SEUS, the phone does not start at all. When I press the power button I see red led flash 3 times repeatedly.
I thought maybe battery has died, so I have connected to mains charger.
Now the phone seems flashes red led once (repeatedly) for about 2 minutes, then led changed to solid green for about 2 minutes, then powers-up to SE logo/writing and camera/blue arrow image briefly, before repeating the process again.
I am not sure if the phone is charging or not? (or maybe battery is not even depleted?)
I am trying to unlock the phone for my customer using SETool or (Omnia?) but both say that 1.6 is not supported and handset must be flashed to 2.1
Seems like I have fallen at the first hurdle
I have searched the www and read forums and tutorials etc and have been at this for nearly 7 hours solid now
Please help.
Thanks.

The red flashing light sounds like battery issue! Do you have another x10 to charge the battery?
Have you rooted the device and unlocked the bootlaoder?
If so and you can enter xrecovery and flash a custom ROM wolfs for example?
Simply power off the device unplug USB cable and just press back button repeatedly while it starts up!

Hi,
Thank You for replying.
You are absolutely right about the battery/flashing lights. I have charged the battery externally and the red flashing light issue has gone.
The phone now powers up to SE writing, then camera and blue arrow, then back to SE writing and stops.
The phone was fully working on Orange-UK before I flashed it. It looked as though everything on it was stock and it had never been flashed or updated ever.
I have not tried to root it or unlock bootloader (Im not even sure what unlocking bootloader means?)
What can I try next to bring this back to life?
Should I just keep trying to flash different roms?
Maybe I should try to flash stock Orange-UK firmware?
Thanks for your help so far, and look forward to your reply

help
Sorry I dont mean to double post or annoy anyone but please can someone help me with this.
Thats nearly another day and still I am stuck at SE logo/writing
I have flashed 5 or 6 different roms now, all with same end result.
I think I am missing something somewhere?
Do I need to upgrade/downgrade kernel?
and what is usb debugging setting? I set it to 'on' when phone was working at the very start, but I think now it is off.
Do I need this to be on before flashing? and if so, how do i do this if the phone is not booting?
Thanks.
MK5
You will need the phone to boot up to put debugging on! This needs to be on to root the device! It wont root without it. It makes sense why your stuck at se logo im sure if you flash the wrong firmware to the phone it wont boot up flash the orange firmware 2.1 or 2.3. British orange version then root using flashtool and use the program in the link above to unlock the sim
Let me know if it works?!!
Good luck!!

Thanks m8, I'll give that a go. Battery has just died again, so giving it another charge just now.
Just a point to notw? - When i update the phone in SEUS, the process tells me that the update has completed successfully, but phone doesnt boot, and if I connect to SEUS again, it tells me that an update is available and this goes 'round in circles'
Is it possible that the phone somehow isnt actually getting flashed properly?
anyways will try the Ora-UK firmware first.
Should I look for stock 1.6 as that is what wason it originally? or can i go right ahead with 2.1?
Also where can I download these from? The only links I found for 2.1 orange were dead (megaupload)
Thanks for all your help so far m8. I appreciate it

m8 you are a star
I got firmware from omnius and unzipped and made a couple of modifications (as per tutorial on the site)
flashed my newly created ftf file and the phone booted
Back to running stock 1.6
I need to make sure I do things properly this time.
Can you give me any pointers as to the correct tutorials to follow?
I just want to unlock the phone so it will accept a Vodafone sim card.
Not too bothered about debranding and custom roms etc.
Thanks.
