Dont know if here is the right place if it isnt im deeply sorry.
basically just want to help out for this crazy problem of you galaxy s2 keep docking automatically and also screen turning to galaxy s1 look.
i FOUND THE solution i have exactly the same problem 2 days ago i tried resetting , formating, hard reset, even rooting to diffrent roms the problem was never solved .
i had following problem
1. the phone will automatically swtich to docking, its annoying
2.some time i got old galaxy s 1 home screen
3. when i put a battery pack it will show its charging which im not charging and will pop a msg high volage, also.
its not a software issue which ibelieve but the USB hub under your phone, due having contacts with moisture new phones wont have this problem, im not saying u guys may had dipped ur phone in water , but having ur phone in ur pocket sweat is 1st problem and having a bath and ur phone is in toilet,
after months of these practices will make ur phone usb hub dirty and cover with dirt.
HERE IS THE SOLUTION
get a alocohol from pharmacy and wool, get a tooth pick put the small cotton at the head of tooth pick becare full dont force it in side but slowly and rub ur usb HUB remember phone has to be off take batt out, after cleaning u will see the USB hub is clean alot of dirt removed, then wait 5-10 min to dry never plug charger or else u will pay for ur mistake, after 10min turn ur phone on it will be total fine.
ITS THE DIRT WHICH IS STICK ON PIN 4-5 making Problem.
i hope it can help tht how it work for me
This is definitely not three right place. No one with a galaxy 1 or captivate can benefit from this information. It really belongs in galaxy 2 general.

Had the same problem, tried the cleaning method, it worked for about a day then got worse. I ended up downloading the service manual and replacing the USB PCB only cost $7 an took under 30 minutes.

This has been covered a few times in both I777 forums and the main GS2 (I9100) forums.
It's probably the most common hardware defect.

Hi All,
Yesterday my SGS2 stared doing some strange things. Self restarting, connecting to charger without any cable in it! Switch on from a sleep, then self restart...
I did hard reset tonight, and today about few hours its the same....
Of course that I have installed many of applications as before this problem. But I dont know if it is a problem of some application....
Any idea how to fix it?
Many thanks
Can it be caused by battery?? I have this phone almost 6 months...
Are you on 2.3.6?
If not, flash 2.3.6 or another rom just try it
i think your battery is not the problem
no, I have stock rom KI4 2.3.5 ... till now was everything OK
I found now an app (need for speed hot pursuit) which was moved on sd card (I don't know why, I didn't move any apps on sd card), just its deleted... we'll see
second factory reset, without any new applications installed = the same.... spontaneous restarting.....

I am not sure .. I think Power key will be the problem
Do diagnose pls do below steps
1, Just power off the phone & remove the battery for 2 mins
2, then plug the battery & don't power on
3, Wait for 5 mins, if it automatically powered on then power key problem.
If not then something problem in only ROM.
formated SD Card, I saw that there was also some files created by Android system... Now it seems, that 1,5 hour is everything OK But never say never
I Know this is a month old but was wondering if everything is still ok with the random restarting?
The reason I am asking is that it has been happening to my SGS2 though I believe it may be slight, v.slight water damage; as I was walking in a rain shower at the start of the week and realised my phone USB port was partially exposed to the elements, and after a few days it started to exhibit the same symptoms.
Currently the phone is sitting in a bag of rice in the hot-press to try and extract as much moisture from it.
If anyone else has any experience of similar problems, your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Same **** happened to me when I dropped my s2 in snow. The problem is in USB controller. There are two ways. first is to change USB controller in service centre. The second is to try to clean it yourself with isopropanol and brush
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Took the phone out of the Hot-Press and bag of rice earlier to day and it has know been successfully fully charged (not charging was another problem); will continue to monitor the situation (not difficult since half of my life is on the phone...).
@beeboss: Thanks for reply, was wondering what kind of brush, Toothbrush? soft/hard? I expect that cleaning it yourself is a v.delicate job, it wouldn't put me of doing it, it's just better to have the correct equipment as I've came across corrosion of circuits on a bigger scale and I cant see scraping it with a v.fine scalpel to be a good thing in the case of the phone; Though I did not have isopropanol at the time of the big circuit corrosion...
Thanks for the help
Hi, I have a Samsung Ace here which has been dropped down the toilet. After letting it dry for a while . I proceeded to check if it worked. It sprung into life.. or so i thought.
Basically the screen lit up (the lights came on) and the phone made it's start up noise etc.. It connected to the pc fine via Kies.
So i presumed the screen was broke so i bought a new one and fitted today and still have the same symptoms. I can still connect to kies and this time it asked if i wished to update the firmware. Which i did.. but still no display.
I have cleaned the board with meth' spirit. & still I get the same problems.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be.?
thank-you Dom
Maybe there's some **** stuck on the phone
There's might be some short circuit on the board. Or within some components.
I used to date ALICE EVE but now, I'm going steady with MEGAN FOX
Could be the GPU problem...
Since, the screen gets lights but no image and Kies recognises the phone....
Turn off the phone
Remove the batt + sim
Use a hairdryer to blow at everything (including sd slot area, sim card area and screen)
Let it cool in an air-conditioned environment
It should be usable by 16 hours
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?
sortcircuit, its still wet when you turn it on.
take it to samsung service center
Hey thanks for the replys. I am thinking its a problem with the GPU.
@zaqwankira luckily it was just a number one in the toilet.. not the kind you suggest. LOL
You should take your phone to the Samsung service centre.
There is two reasons i dont want to do that..
All the water sensor things have been activated in the unit, so they will be able to tell there has been water damage.
and the other reason is the samsung service centre around this way are useless.
Mmmh.. Maybe if you cleaned you ace after that is dropped down with some clean water and a phon, it will be worked good also now

I have a SGSII which went for a little swim a few weeks back. It fell into a sink full of water but could have only been in there for a second. Phone was working when I pulled it out and I swiftly pulled out the battery and set about drying it.
The phone eventually started up but these are my problems
The phone massively overheats as soon as you put the battery in. It doesnt even have to be switched on. Part of the motherboard is seriously overheating. If you look at the back of the phone, on the right hand side, about 2 thirds of the way down, this seems to be where the heat is coming from. I have to pull the battery after about a minute in fear of meltdown.
I charged the battery in a friend's phone and when I tried switching on, it fires up fine (apart from the same overheat problem) but it tells me to connect the battery charger and shows the battery as being almost drained when I know this is not the case. Everything seems to be there such as messages and all media.
The clock says its 0:00 and the date is 1 January. Im not sure whether this is because the battery has been out for so long or because it's fried.
I've already tried to send off to samsung but they just sent it back since it was liquid damaged. I'd rather spend a bit of money getting it fixed rather than flog it on ebay.
However, I was wondering whether anyone had any thoughts of suggestions as to what might be causing the overheat and whether it is worth trying to get repaired.
Thanks for your thoughts and assistance in advance.
may b there is water inside ,or the pins might hav corruded, the chips inside very small an thier pins r so close to each other tht wen water enters the pins which come in contact wiv otha pin it gives a sort of foam thing which even afta drying ,an if ur unlucky r connected to each other,u can give it a try by clod blow drying or if u kno to open an fix clean the internal wiv alcholic spray or cleaner....good luck

i agree with rocky23, you should pull a part the device and check if there is any moisture inside
how long did you leave it to dry ?, a week?,
a friends dropped his into his tea and he took it out, turn it off, placed it in a jar filled with rice for a week, a few issues, but he got it all sorted
you shouldnt start it till you know its dry inside,
Guys from last night my phone shows MTP Connected even when i havent connected USB with it . Also when i try to restart it , it starts getting charged and show a temperature warning indicator. Please help guys im really worried !

It's definitely the port.
Take your phone battery out.
Get some methylated spirits. If you can't get that, get some rubbing alcohol. Don't use anything else.
Take your phone battery out.
Get a sewing needle or pin, or safety pin. Use that to scrape out any lint and run it along the length of each of the 5 usb contacts (very very delicately). Make a tiny ball of tissue paper (less then a millimetre in diameter) and soak it lightly with methylated spirits or rubbing alcohol and push it around inside the port. it must be small enough not to bend or damage the protruding usb pins and plastic support.
Did you take your phone battery out? OK put it back in and plug in the USB and see what happens. Make sure you are using you AC charger for this. Sometimes it won't charge off a low current USB connection, if the battery is that discharged.
I had your exact symptoms and this solution fixed the problem permanently for me.

My phone had the exact same problem, wish I had the explanation you just got. I had to improvise as mine went weird 3 days after release! But do what the replier said, it will fix it permanently, and don't be afraid, better doing it yourself than having to flash a stock ROM in order to remove CWM which I assume you have, and sending it back. Don't be a wuss!
Chris.
Hi all,
My UK Galaxy s3, on 3uk Network, running CyangenMod V 10.1.3-i9300 is having problems (hardware issues, not related to software)
To simplify my issues I will break it down into parts
A. Problems:
1. My phone will not charge, nothing happens when inserting the micro usb charger.
2. My phone signal (3uk) comes and goes randomly.
3. When trying to charge phone whilst it is switched off, an explanation mark and temperature gauge appear flashing and the phone vibrates as the icons flash. the phone does not charge.
B. Cause:
This all started when I was walking in heavy rain for about an hour, my phone was within a pocket on my supposedly waterproof jacket. I returned home, removed my phone to find it drenched, I removed the battery and left the phone to dry out for around 24 hours. Now I have the issues above.
C. Advice Please:
Is my phone ready for the scrap heap? I am ready to list it as faulty for spares or repair only on eBay and buy another phone. Before I replace my phone is there any chance of bringing it back to its former glory?
If anyone knows what are the likely problems or how to fix them I might have a go at repairing it.
D: Further info:
I have had my phone for around 18 months and it is a little battered, the screen is fine as I always had a screen protector on it, but the chrome trim is a little scratched and dented. I really fancy a new phone but ideally wanted to wait to March when I can upgrade my phone without penalty.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Oliver
1 Charger or cable or USB faulty .
2 Network problems .
3 Overheating .
But all this sounds much more like internal component fried due to moisture .
Could be the usb port .
check charging port connector, disassemble and clean with cleaning solution.

I tried cleaning with compressed air, an electric toothbrush and a cloth but no success
I have some TimCleaan, CPU thermal paste remover knocking around, maybe I should give that a go?
I managed to remove the 2 lower screws near the usb port and remove the plastic but iot still isnt easy to clean right inside of the port
Thanks for your advice

I've just tried it connected to my PC, unfortunately the phone responses the same as when connected to the outlet plug. I think I'll list it on eBay, I
just wondered if they might be an easy fix, but it doesn't look like it.
I'm eyeing up a LG G2 as a replacement, but perhaps I should get something more robust or waterproof lol
Cheers everyone
For charging issue... few months back my S3 was too not being charged, i was too in rain with waterproof jacket and phone in pocket. but i never had that exclamation sign and temperature gauge. i fixed it by changing the micro usb port of the phone. that solved my problem but for other issues, i dont know what is causing that.
Wife fixed it (partly)
I gave up on this phone, but the wife picked up my tools and said she fancied a p[lay around. She stripped the phone used some liquid gold we had lying around and brushed the pins on the back of the micro usb port. she bushed a few other things spray compressed air and put it together again.
The usb port now charges, the only issue now is the signal coming and going all the time. if a call connects it holds the signal but otherwise the signal works for 10 secs then goes off for around 10 secs continuously.
Any ideas anyone?

i think because of water inside your phone, the signal receiver is too not working, try to clan the receiver too..

Intermittent signal problem.
Phone is completely dry and has been cleaned everywhere. The antenna has been disconnected and reconnected and I have reflashed CyanogenMod 10.1.3
The intermittent signal problem continues
Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to try a new sim, but I really don't think is the sum card because if I make a call whilst I have signal the call doesn't drop, it stays connected until I hang up, then the signal goes and comes again
My WiFi and everything else on the phone is perfect. Any ideas anyone please?

Can you detach the antenna cable reference image below.
check the red mark if there are some moisture, clean it
