Does wiping the big 3 remove MODs? - Motorola Droid X2

I'm going to be selling my DX2 to a friend and he wants all the MODs (Speedy, V6, CDMA MODs) intact. If I wipe the data, cache, and dalvik will these MODs remain intact or will I have to reapply them?
BTW I'm running rooted Gingerbread.

Wiping system data will. The other two I don't think so

I'm not sure if it does wipe any mods. Doesn't a wipe just clear the /data and /cache partitions and leave /system alone? I've wiped when I had my custom ringtones pushed to system and they were there after. Now flashing a different ROM will clear since it formats the /system partition.

What about reflashing? Does this clear system?

Partition question; to ext4 or not to ext4

For performance, which of my partitions shouls be ext4 and if I convert, do I lose what's on the partition?
I've seen a lot of stuff around about it, but don't currently know enough to change anything.

only data and only after a wipe.
If you wipe again you lose true ext4 and will have to convert again

So do it prior to flashing a new rom? Do my wipes then update only data to 4 then flash? Been curious about this as well also I have a flashable zip that supposed to upgrade to 4 can't remember where I got it but I think was from jokerROM thread if i use it do I still have to wipe before flashing it and/or use it before flashing ROM or after or does it even do what I'm thinking it does.I can up load it if you want to see it .Right before the whole sopa thing went down I downloaded every file I could find haven't used hardly any of them but I know I have them if and when I need them

So could I go into recovery, format, covert, then restore a backup and have ext4?

[Q] If I am restoring my device should I delete all data?

If I am restoring my device should I delete all data?(data, cache, and dalvik cache )
I do. But its not necessary.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
I never do.
I never clear before a restore since it's all pretty much overwritten anyway. Only thing that might stay the same is dalvik. Does anyone know if that is included in a nand backup?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Depends, if you no longer need the data, wipe it. If you do then don't wipe.
@ mfreywald - If I understand you right. If your nanodroid back up it on the phone then yes. If it in your SD card then no.
I run jivy's kernel cleaning script (wipes cache and dalvik twice) before any restore or flash - might not be necessary, but I've NEVER had a bootloop or other issue like that since I started doing it.

Ahh, the old "kill a fly with a sledge hammer" philosophy. I'm in that camp too. A few extra seconds in CWM can save a headache later. A habit I picked up on my Captivate. Between each flash I wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik twice, and generally format system.

I do not. Kinda pointless since you are rewriting the rom when restoring anyways

not mandatory but I do anyways just to be safe. it is kind of like the "safely eject usb" function on windows. nobody really uses it because it isn't a mandatory thing; but there is always that 5%

[Rom] How to update and not lose any data?

First of all sorry for my bad language
I've a Lg 2x (Aka Optimus Dual) temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD, now i saw an update from temasek. I'm asking how i can install the new room file as a simple update without losing any app/contact etc.
Well if it's possible what's the correct way to do an update of a custom Rom ?
Very thanks,
Sorry for the question but i've googled and nothing, also searched here but nothing
if its a update of the same build jus erase cache and dalvik cache and install the rom. then ur data remains untouched. but if the rom is different u need to full wipe. data will be lost. but u can sync contacts to gmail and retrieve back any time.

What does errase cache and dalvik cache do? Does the settings stay the same or do you have to set them again when you update? If it delets settings...can you update without errasing cache?
Nope...clearing cache and dalvik cache only wipes unimportant info...your settings will be there as long as you don't press factory reset...

exactly. but look for the requirements for the update. sometimes even updates may require data wipe if the dev states it.

All the above is good and true. I'd like to add that I always make a ROM backup with ROM Manager before I update my ROM. That way, if something should go wrong, I can get back to where I was before the update.

Not recommended to Samsung Galaxy Ace this ROM Manager because it bricks your device!

Dude you could just install Titanium Backup from the play store and back up all the apps and data you want to. And yeah, your device needs to be rooted. Cheers.

Scripts and wipe

Hey, so I was wondering quite a long time now (and I haven't found an answer), when I am changing either Rom or just want to wipe data/cache/dalvik cache... will the scripts I installed disappear ? Do I have to reinstall them ?

If you install another ROM you'll have to reinstall them. If you are wiping, you don't have to, because you are wiping them user's data not the system data.

Yes,becuase it gets wiped when flashing a new rom.

Cleanest wipe method between flashes

Title says it all. Is there a more complete way to wipe the phone than using the Factory Reset option in Touch Recovery? On my last two phones I had Calkulin's format all zips that I used.

I just wipe everything in recovery but the superwipe script is good, you can also wipe through fastboot, and aroma installer has a good wipe built in
Honestly, "super wipes" are just a mental satisfaction at this point. I remember super wipes on the OG EVO, being for the poor souls that were still using CWM. As far as development has come, they are unnecessary.

yeah but i can only think of one wipe script which happens to be superwipe lol, if i have any issues I just wipe from fastboot
SMW6180 has developed a super wipe app which is flash able but also incorporates optimization by the way it formats the partitions. Works great on the EVO LTE.

Wipe Cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, system. I wipe those 4 options twice. I feel like that's a proper wipe

Does anyone still wipe Google wallet cache and data+reset when doing factory reset or data wipe?

A good wipe would include wiping kernel too, that's something that can be a hassle without a proper wipe script

Never
I never have from day 1 and NFC works fine
Also for ppl wondering about wiping, I think a good habit is to wipe both caches everytime your in recovery.

all sensitive information pertaining to your credit/debit card is stored on their cloud servers now. Before all information was stored along with a certificate on the secure element, they switched to a more traditional method of using a passkey with every purchase, the purchase then goes to Google and they charge your account. The charges show as *Google "merchant" now, my buest guess is that SE is now obsolete but its just a guess. They still have to store the virtual mastercard number and passkey somewhere
